But sort of bad as it just did a clean install and got set up on mdm. But move to sd without using foldermount is a big deal

Apps data dont move to external card. They just move from internal to internal... fake function.

Most likely
The ROM developers kind of aim at featuring the latest and best aspects the phone has to offer.
So if there is an update on the stock ROM that introduces some fixes or features which are worth implementing they usually do so ASAP.

The apps are moved to sdcard, but their data no. Again fake feature. Still waiting for the 32gb S4

Now you can use foldermount to move the data and all the app, including its data will be on the SD card :good:

Yeah, but you still need to root (and mess with triangle away and unrooting in case you need warranty), use foldermount and I'm pretty sure not every single app will work just fine or error free, Google offline maps and music still can't be moved, still too much hassle. Now Samsung should release the 32gb version. I don't get it what's so hard to do it. They win more money releasing the 32gb version.
LE: Oh..yeah...I forget....using foldermount it's still showing that the data is on your phone, even if you move it, right ? If you have 4GB on sd-card will say that you have those 4GB in internal memory (so you can still get warning for low memory even if it's not true. That would be very annoying.

Wrong. Folder mount move the app data to the SD card and the memory informations are correct.
It is very useful for large games. I have 5gb games data and still more than 5gb internal memory.
Of course same system or special app propably don't work with folder mount.

This doesnt work right? But Move to SD card button doesnt work if you dont have external sd card inside.
I have no idea how this function works. Application size reduces then move to SD card application, but then those files didnt really moved to external sd card.
But if you remove sd card after that, app wont run. WTF..

Did you even try to delete application data after moving and re-download it?
For example with Asphalt or Real Racing....
I'm curious to know were game data are going to store....
Thank you

I really need confirmation for that. One month ago everybody was saying that the apps looks like its installed on the internal memory even if it's moved on the sd card. So, you are saying now that if you have 3 GB data installed on the phone (the phone is showing 6GB free) and move the data with foldermount to sdcard, the phone will show you 9GB free on the phone and show the data on the sdcard ? Can somebody confirm this ? It's acceptable, even if I don't want to root.

From the phone (app menagement) you can only move app, not app data.
If you fresh install app, move to SD and then download data... It is the same, data will be install on internal memory.
So from the app menagement you can move app and with folder mount app data..

G2X external memory issue

This is my first android phone so excuse me if I'm doing something wrong but the G2X has 8gbs of memory and we can access maybe 5gbs, ok. I installed a 16gbs class 6 card and its trying fine. I downloaded a bunch of gameloft games and I can't get them to install on my 16gb chip. They keep on filling my internal memory card. Why cant I run any of them of the external card like I use to do on my Hd2? Is there a setting that I'm missing? Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think most apps are installed directly to your internal memory unless that app has the option to move it to your external SD card.

Kinda sucks that you cant just move them all to the external card. The gameloft games kinda use up alot of space The phone rocks though.

I thought Gameloft games install data to external card on my Vibrant. Can someone confirm this? All the Gameloft games I have so far, only installed to internal memory.
No.
App2sd = internal sd card. The external sd is mounts to a folder. You can't install apps there.
Trays why a lot of us won't bother buying phonesbwith less than 16gb internal storage...
The sd it gets installed to in the internal one. The app memory id partitioned off of that storage, that's why you only have about 5gb there on a mint phone.
Happy to help.
P.S. The vibrant works the same way...

Storage space for apps

Hello!
So im planning to buy this phone, but there's one problem. I've heard that you only get 2gb of space for the apps. So that left me wondering, is that 2gb of storage only for like apks or for app caches too? Like for example will I be able to install GTA 3, GTA VC and NOVA and Most Wanted all in the same time? They all weigh like 1gb, so that means I can install maybe like 1 or 2 of those games, and that's it? Or the caches of those games go to the rest of the 10gb of storage and I can install them all?
This is the only problem with the phone for me.. I want to be able to install a lot of apps and games, will I be able to do it, without rooting?

Nah the apps themselves (which are 3~4MB) go to app storage and the 1GB game data goes to sdcard0/Android/data so you can install as many as you want at the same time to fit it into 10GB I'd recommend Modern Combat 4 as well if you like NOVA.
EDIT: This does NOT require root either, I had several large games installed on stock.
Hmm, but there is no sd card on One S. So I suppose the rest of the 10gb internal storage serves as an inbuilt sd card, yes? if so then that's great! Thanks!

I just want to say, I have been using the Blaze for 6 months, but, everyone else has 4 GB in their Blaze. I only have about 2.5 GB of internal storage. Was there a change in the production or something? View Screenshots.

I just got this phone and I'm wondering about the same thing. There are two "internal storage" bars and they show total space of 1.12 and 1.4G respectively. The SD card remains mostly unused. It seems that the internal storage is partitioned in two? It appears all the appdata is also stored on the 2nd "internal storage". How do i consolidate the two into one, and use the SD card for all the data storage?
Many thanks.
That would be awesome if we could combine the two partitions into one and use a SD as the second. Unfortunately Samsung crippled our phones with their wacky partitions.

So I take that the partition is permenant?
This really severaly limits the usability of the phone to that of a novice/beginner, with only <2gb for apps and another <2gb for data. Is there any script/app/etc that mounts the 2nd partition to the external SD? I've searched and Link2SD shows up a few times, something I've used on P509 (optimus T) and didn't think I would have to use it again. It works, but it's annoying when it fails. Was hoping for something cleaner than that.
I bought the phone imagining that the 4GB could be used for app and the data would go on SD..
Yea you can swap mounts to use the SD card as the second partition. It's around here somewhere, do a search for swapping internal / external mount points

it seems all of these solution (including link2sd) isn't permenant and would screw up (and it did) after rom update. Link2sd is kinda pointless when it doesn't move the data to the external sd, and mounting scripts would just run into problems when ROM's updated.
There doesn't seem to be a very clean solution for this.. Would have been nicer if they just relied on extSD for storage.. why bother with the SD slot when you store things internally by default?
kinda frustrating really.
Well there's 4gb unformatted, which means 10% less afterwards, so 3.6gb but the system needs space, so there's another chunk gone and then system apps and whatnots are using space, as does cache etc. So we get about 2.5gb usable to us, then we install gapps and the other basics and have about 2gb left.
with a camera app that now allows storage to external, it gets a lot easier. Move big apps to external SD as with music and downloads. I did have some success with the script that swaps internal/external, but now I just get by with the occasional cleanout.

Just stick an SD card in and use that for the compatible ones. Most big apps like games and things will happily sit on SD and download their additional data to it. If you get a nice speedy class (6 or above) you'll have no problem.

only the D6616 variant will have 32 GB of internal storage. AFAIK the UK will receive the D6603.

No they dont. Its a real problem. Sony dont do one phone that has more than 16GB in Europe. Although the old short lived xperia T did.
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
I own Xperia TX and still use it.... Never has Sony done more than 16GB except for some special case imports.... the phone will be out of date by the time you can get your hands on one... worse than that is Android not allowing you to switch anything you like onto SDCard.. Its bad enough that they reserve X GB for system and not allow non critical apps to be completely stored on SDCard.

Sigh. If you don't want to root then don't. There's loads of apps you can't use if unrooted and I for one wouldn't dream of using a banking app on an insecure, unencrypted mobile device that is prone to be lost or stolen.
I was pointing the way to a mod that helps to save large amounts of space on internal storage. No matter how much internal storage you have, it will always free up some. It's not a replacement for larger internal storage, but a utility that performs a specific and useful function. If you don't want to use it, maybe others reading this thread might want to give it a spin.

Oculus apps to sdcard

Is there a way to move oculus apps to sdcard? I've just started using this thing and only 14.81 Gb is left . Reminds me Htc desire times, when we had ~140 mb of internal storage.. Well apps on those days were 100 kb - 2 mb in size Now oculus eats gazillions bytes of precious internal storage.
I skimmed few articles about adoptive storage, but as far as I understand Samsung throwed this away
I thought you could move most apps to SD card, have you tried?
If it cannot move the Oculus apps to SD, then VR is going to flop. As 32 GB (24GB actually) is really insufficient to hold regular + VR apps.

The phone should have come with 64GB option really. The SD card, even the Samsung Evo Pro+ is slow. Actually, the internal memory controler for the SD card is half the speed of what the Pro+ supports on a PC. Sad really, and it's such a sweet phone. What a shame!

To use the adaptable storage method you need at least a U3 card. I was about to buy one when I came across this app on google play:
Link2SD allows you to move Gear VR apps to external storage. I have moved 3 successfully and have not encounter a problem. There is a plus version which allows you to link after moving but I'm loving the free version so far!
