cool but what is the name of the launcher
I'm using stock Touchwiz. I used to use Go Launcher when I had the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 and used Gingerbread, but those Go Launcher themes don't look too well on the tablet. I don't like having it look like a phone much.

According to slim bean/slim rom Nova uses the least RAM.

Yeah, to everyone their own, I guess... I personally don't like either Go or Nova, but I do like ADW. However, I still tend to use the stock TW launcher most of the time.

If you love the ICS look I suggest you the Apex launcher or Nova launcher. I prefere Apex but I think you should test the launcher. They are all free.

And why? Personally, I prefere Apex because it has all feature, for some functions you must pay for Nova launcher. Also I haven't seen any advantages of Nova, but I think everyone has his own opinion

I have to agree. I prefer using Apex over Nova with my LG Nitro, probably until Trebuchet comes out with new updates.
Both Apex and Nova are great launchers anyways.
I As the guys above said, try out apex and nova. Apex does have more features but I decided to stick with nova, got quite a few fcs with apex. PS I agree with avoiding go launcher, would definitely ruin all that ics goodness
Laucher android 4 ics
In my opinion you should try Apex because it is very fluid and customizable, and above all free ... Excuse my writing in English, but I'm not very conversant with the language ...
Is apex launcher still black out for 20 sec. When return to homescreen from any app.

Apex runs very smooth for me. Other than apex I tried sslauncher which seems nice and also TFS (expensive though).

I tried holo luncher and feels very laggy. Like going in and out of the App drawer for example.
Apex is perfectly smooth.
I am currently using TW Home and it feels kinda wonky, and with TW Launcher I can't switch the quickicons on the bottom so that's a negative. I have experienced Apex, and Go Launcher and do not like either of them. I am a firm believe that (most of the time) stock launchers are better. Has there been a port of the s3 launcher for our skyrockets? I tried Google and I could not find anything. I know that the regular s2 has a port of it, will it work with our s2?
Go, apex, and nova are the best launchers. Not sure what your problem is.

I Like Go Launcher and Nova. Go is a little on the heavy side, but has a ton of widget addons and they're all free.
I bought Nova Prime the other day. Takes a little while to get used to the setup process, but the app drawer is the best and most functional I've used to date. Nova is also pretty light on resources. Especially compared to Go and TW.
Only launcher I feel ripped off by is ADW. They used to update it almost weekly, but last I checked they haven't updated since december.

I've used all of these, plus others. The free Nova is just faster and imho easier to customize. I use Faster Drawer (from play store) and replaced the stock app drawer shortcut with FD. It organizes apps far better than any launcher I've used. I don't want or need the added features of the paid Nova, though I may purchase to support the developer.

I want to know how to change launchers. When I installed the ROM I had an option between 2 launchers, chose to use one as default. Now I can't find how to change to the other. I am not 100% sure I want the other. But I'd like to give it a try again. Any ideas?

Did you try Apex Launcher? It is very similar to Nova Launcher but has more features.
What do you are looking for in Launchers? Performance? Functionality?

Yes!
Zeam Launcher -> Better in performance and has minimum features;
Regina Launcher -> I used few times, nothing to say.
Go Launcher -> It was a good launcher and has many features. After many updates, this launcher was laggy in my phone (Defy MB525 and Xperia U).
I was using Nova before I turned to Apex this week.
Both are similar and work well, but Apex has more functions like widget override in desktop which I find useful.
Hello Geeks!
I'm sure a lot of you have Nova Launcher on your N4s, and if you're like me; you can't wait to get your hands on 4.4 KitKat.
Does anybody out there know if TeslaCoil will have to release a newer version of Nova optimized for 4.4 or will it already be compatible as soon as 4.4 gets rolled out to our devices? I'd rather wait for it to be optimized rather than get 4.4 and be Nova-less for a week or 2.
In addition: my friend Tony just ordered the Nexus 5. will Nova Launcher be compatible with his device right out of the box?
Anybody with info please lemme know. I'm fine with putting 4.4 off for a few weeks until I know FOR SURE that I can have Nova Launcher on top of the new tasty OS.
I don't know the answer however, one thing that sucks for Nova Launcher is that the Google Experience launcher is not open source. That means Nova can't keep that stock launcher look on 4.4.

Nova is based on the AOSP launcher so I don't think that will be helpful. There is still a AOSP launcher in the KitKat code but I don't know if they are maintaining it anymore.

Uhhh because the stock launcher is extremely uncustomizable? Nova can be very simple and look almost exactly like a stock launcher, but the amount of options it has are immense. I'm currently using the Google experience launcher and I really miss nova. Sticking with it for now though.

More customization than stock launcher like the static google search in <4.3, # of rows/columns, icon packs, etc.
Nova is based off AOSP Launcher anyways. So you're practically getting the stock launcher + added goodies. Of course this will be different with 4.4 in terms of the Google Now but I'm sure Nova will implement that someway.
Plus you can add gestures. Like if I swipe up on the phone icon I have it set up to direct dial my gf. Or a swipe up on home page opens app drawer. And you can backup your setup so if you flash Roms you can have your home screen set back up in seconds
Nova > stock launcher

I think it will be a little more difficult for custom launchers on 4.4 because of the integration of the launcher and Google now.
I don't see how they could integrate Google now into the left swipe or the "ok Google"command working from all home screens. This link shows my reasoning.

Actually that's one of the reasons why I use custom launchers: To get rid of Google Search, Google Now, and "always on" voice commands.
I don't need these anyway and as a bonus get longer battery life (by completely disabling Google Search).

I would happily use the 4.4 launcher if you could remove the persistent search bar, which does nothing but get in the way. Its seems utterly pointless given that you can open search a number of other ways almost instantly.
