I've got a 5110 tab2 10.1 currently running cm10.1 RC4. I've had this for 7-8 months, at some point in the past I've had the tablet powering my phone through my OTG cable so that I can charge my phone when I'm out but that isn't working on this 10.1 ROM. Does anyone have a hint about where I'll find a ROM which will support this - I'm off on a camping trip tomorrow and want to use the tab as a mobile charger as well as browser using the hotspot from my phone.
Cheers, Duncan

Hello!
I've recently acquired a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Wifi (GT-P5110).
I was wondering if there's any way to enable USB charging (connected to the computer) instead of only charging through wall socket?
Thanks in advance!
It's charging from the USB, but very slowly (and can't keep up if you use the tablet). The USB charging works better if you shutdown first.

I see.
I've also read people saying that using custom roms (CM9 among them) it does charge and stops showing the cross over the battery symbol on the notification bar.
They claim that the kernel is customized so that the tablet is able to draw more power from the USB instead of the regular 500mA.
Is there any confirmed truth to this? Is it worthy? Doesn't it risk frying the USB/Connector controller on the tab?
Thanks.
Cable to charge Tablet
I also read in several places that you can use a special cable to perform the charging function. It is a Samsung P1000 adapter that has a switch on it to switch between charging and data. I've ordered one, I'll update regarding its performance when I receive it.

it's fake & hoax
Do you have root ? What ROM and kernel are you using ?
Try this for you Tab :

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 stock only allows you to charge via USB Wall charger which is rated at 2 amps, here's how to hack it for any rooted Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Pershoot kernel so you can charge it via USB on your computer or even regular USB chargers.

Good luck !
You used to be able to fiddle with the USB charger and jiggle it about so it would charge via USB but an update got rid of that function ( ok more like a sneaky malfunction).,,,please note that i was running a STOCK based ROM on my SGT2 7 and not your device. Romswell was the author of the ROM and as i said it was for my tab , not sure if he caters for your device.
Charge while the phone is off.

I can confirm that CM9 and CM10 let you charge over USB, but it will only charge a useful amount when the screen is off.
hey guys,
got my wonderful note 10.1 on christmas, some days afterwards I ordered an adapter from amazon.
well, it worked for the first 10-20 tries, but then my note doesnt recognize anything. neither the stupid adapter, nor usb-sticks or controller.
Just wondering if somebody have the same problem
I was on the german JB FW, yesterday I updated to taiwanese/chinese JB, but it still wont work.
And is it true that the note 10.1 has a special security ciruit so too powerful devices wont work?
Cause I tried my 2.5 hdd on the note, it recogniced it as a high-powered device and wont be used. (of course crap, I know)
then I tried the hdd on my galaxy s3 and it got powered. So, what did samsung ****ed up with the note 10.1.
Is some part inside faulty for this crap, or did they messed up otg with the latest jb update?? Or ist my adapter just broken?
cheers guys, I hope for response^^

USB OTG stops responding 4.2.1
Ok here is what I have found on this, I find that the first time I connect a USB Device to my Tablet after a Fresh Boot, it works Normally.
However Often times once the remove the USB OTG cable I will often loose the ability to have devices Recognized again. Also if at anytime while plunging in or un-plugin the the cables the Device sometimes says that it sees a High power device (not sure if this is caused by a short or what) but if this happens I loose all ability for devices to be recognized.
The Two things i have found that Fix this issue are.
ONE: Restart the Tablet.
Two: Un-mount and Re-mount the SD Card.
This looks to be like a issue how the new JB software and the driver for the 30pin slot. hopefully Samsung will address this issue with a hotfix or when they update to 4.2.2
In the mean time i hope this helps.
Hola , my acer tab A510 can't connect to pc after update JB before using ICS it working fine anyone can fix it, there Other problem my charger is broken so I charging using psvita adapter in off mode but it took several hours for 30 % battery anyone can suggest other Adapter because original charger so hard to find. Thanks for your help
I have lurked on this board for years and have gleaned lots of great information in that time. Thanks for the work you all do.
I am experiencing a connectivity issue with MHL on my S4 - i337
I have an MHL cable that I purchsed from monoprice. This cable works flawlessly with my older SGH S2X (T989D) and my Tab 2 8" (T310). For the cable to work on the Tab 2 8" I use the 11 - 5 pin adapter, while the S2X works without the 11 - 5 pin adapter. I'm pretty sure that the S4 should use the 11 - 5 pin adapter, but no matter what I try, I can't get it to work (I have tried it with and without the adapter, and plugged in not plugged in to the USB power)
I'm wondering if there is an issue with the built in "All share" app as it always turns my wifi on when I try to screen mirror.
Any thoughts or if anyone else has experienced this, please do help!
I've now purchased THREE USB OTG straight cables (not Y) that did not work with my Shield Tablet... Is there some sort of trick i don't know about? Some special kind of OTG cable i need to buy? Some setting i need to enable for it to work?
I've tested the cables both with usb keyboard, mouse and various properly formatted USB drives - none detected at all. They dont work either with my Nexus 4 phone or Nexus 7 2012 tablet (but i suspect those models dont even support USB OTG, so doesnt say much).
Can anyone point me to a straight USB OTG cable that actually works with the tablet?
Are you running the latest OTA , Android 5.1? The OTG is broken in this version. Try plugging in the cable while tablet powered off the booting up. You won't be able to charge tablet until reboot though.

Man, I updated while traveling for 45 days!!! Loss of OTG for thumb drives, hub connection, camera image off load, wired Ethernet....what a loss!!!any word on when they will release software that at least makes it fully functional again? Plus the constant app optimization every boot cycle..I am hoping their self driving cars and self cooking ovens and make believe cities get better attention!

According to their website they expect an update by the end of the month that should fix these issues.
