Custom Kernels?

Is there any custom kernels for the ChaCha available yet? More specifically a kernal thats optimized for good battery life. Or can any kernel be used from the other subforums
I would also like to know that. Especially about the ones with smartassv2 governor.. Thanks in advance

[Q] Is this ROM version OC?

Hello. Since i haven't found any info about that (yea i am noob here and most likely that question will be answered somewhere, but...) so i would like to ask you.

I have recently flashed CyanogenMod 7 into my Samsung Galaxy 3 (i5800) and everything works fine. I just wanted to ask if this ROM version is OC or not? As far as i know it is possible to overclock galaxy 3 processor up to 1GHz. So Does this version do overclock my processor or doesn't? And if yes - for how much? Thanks in advance
EDIT: I flashed "ODIN -> CM7.1.0-GT-I5800_Alpha7.zip (130.35 MB)" this one version. Also if this one does not OC - where can i download oc version (800 or 1000MHz) since multiupload links are not working?

It overclocks to 1GHz or 1.1 GHz. Can't remember and there is no NON-OC version available. Also, the maximum overclock for our phone is 1.4 GHz but very few people find it to be stable.
Thank you very much, that's all i wanted to hear. Cheers

[Q] How does overclocking in Android work?

How does Android overclocking work exactly?
What do Devs do to get the device to run at higher clock speeds?? I've got a HTC explorer that has o/c kernel for stock rom but no o/c kernel for MIUI or CM9 [ Though overclocking didn't increase benchmark performance ]... May I know how does one modify the kernel and makes the device run at higher speeds?? Is modifying the kernel enough or something else has to be done?? Any help is appreciated..

I have a question for the mt6589

Hi guys. So i know that this is discussed, but i can't find a proper solution for myself. I have a mt6589 cpu and running miui rom. My device is a blu life play which is pretty good phone. My question is how can i overclock this phone? I have 3.4.5 kernel

Yes me to waiting for kernel which can overclock.

Method to add overclocking to existing kernel

Hello Androiders,
I'm not sure if this makes complete sense but is there a way we can modify an existing kernel from an ASOP based ROM to support CPU overclock?
There's a ROM I use for my Xperia Acro S which lets me overclock to only 1.5 Ghz using the Mokee kernel in the flash file.
But there are other ASOP based ROM for my device which support upto 1.89 Ghz overclocking. Please let me know if there is a way to modify the existing kernel to support higher CPU clock speeds.
I searched Google and XDA but couldn't find any tutorial or discussion about this, please suggest how this can be accomplished!
LOVE and PEACE,
Syed
