Had a search for this but didn't see anything relevant.
Recently, (about 2 weeks) I have had a constant problem updating apps, (either automatically or directly). I get a message that there is an error while retrieving RPC:S-5:AEC-0
Any solution?? Sorry if it is old news....
B
You obviously didn't do a search. At least not on Google for "error while retrieving RPC:S-5:AEC-0" because the solution is slap bang on the front page.
Two possible solutions:
Settings|apps|all
Find Google play store
Clear Cache
Force Stop
Back to list
Find Google Service Framework
Clear Data
Force Stop
Reboot device.
Or..:
Settings|Accounts|Google
Remove your Google account (nothing evil will happen.)
Re-add it.

Oh dear, I was naive enough to think that searching for "updating apps" but silly me, of course I should search by hyeroglyphic..... I'll try to remember that.
Many thanks for the answer.
B
That was a little cheap there, mate. It wasn't even meant as an insult, just an observation. Reporting it was overkill. (or if it wasn't you, someone else then.)
Did the solutions help or not? Because don't expect me to go looking for more after actually getting reported for helping.
Wouldn't worry about it Shadow.
The first thing anyone should do with any error code is google it. You actually tried to help in lieu of that.

I guess from years of rooting and changing roms and such the Google Play website shows hundreds of apps installed on my device that of course aren't.
By using Google Play on my phone and going to ALL I was able to painfully manually delete many of them but after a certain point it stops loading very old apps and no longer gives me an option to remove them from the list resulting in the website showing wrong results.
I Googled a solution but found nothing anyone here have any ideas?

To which Play Store webpage are you referring, "My Orders"? What exactly would you like to do?

My apps is what the OP is referring to. The only way to delete them that I have found is one by one. One of the true PIA's of the Play Store.

I've often wondered this as well. It'd be nice if the store would only display 90 days of download recency. It'd be even better if you could sub-cat the downloads by device (if you've had multiple).

Or something as simple as an option in settings to remove apps that are unistalled from the My Apps list.

I agree.
There should be an option within the Store to sync the device you're on @ that time and show what's been installed/uninstalled from Play Store for that specific device.
Play website leaves a lot to be desired. Lets not make light of OCD. People who genuinely suffer from it have a really bad time

I don't know who that's directed to but I have ocd and don't see anyone making light of it.
Anyway I don't even mind removing apps one by one but it seems after you go back several years time (on your phone mind you under ALL) it stops loading very old apps and there is just no way to remove them at that point.

OK I apologise then. I thought YOU were making light of OCD. You know, the whole "If I don't do xxx then I will die" kind of OCD (of which I am sure you know, there is no other). I'm sorry to hear you have that. My suggestion would be not to visit the play website. It's definitely preferable to feeling you will die because it is untidy.
Although the way you phrased this thread, it reads more like "I like things tidy" than actually having OCD, so again I apologise
No problem. It's not like this is keeping me up at night but it is something that has been on my min d to fix for sometime.
My mother is using spice coolpad mi-496 (http://www.gsmarena.com/spice_mi_496_spice_coolpad_2-5865.php) this phone is mentioned in this threat "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532192".
It is a cheap Indian brand phone. I myself owes HTC wildfire buzz.
well first of all i am not a new to android. i knows many things like basic troubleshooting and all that.
well directly coming on the issue. I am unable to open the Google play app on this phone. I registered two brand new id's on this phone but still in vain i am unable to get any solution. I even completely wiped everything twice before making those id's but each and every time i get the same error "server error"..
well i try to sign in on the Google talk but in vain i am unable to log in there also. i cleared number of times the data of Google play services and play store and manually tried to installed a updated version of play store but then it gives error connection no available ".
well i don't think there is something left when i clear whole phone and tried to register with new id's. i tried many troubleshooting threats on xda those are getting problems but i nowhere getting any solution so i decided to start a new threat. well i even can't root the phone because still is 1 month old and it is warranty. so want to retain it. i tried to took the logcat from the phone. i have it but i don't know whether it contains any sensitive information so unable to share it here. well are there any solutions for this issue.

Hi, if you installed the wrong google apps, that could be a problem. if you understand what i mean? You need to get the google apps for specific Roms if you have a custom rom. Search on xda forum for them. Example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942 :good:
I can not give you the links to external websites, but search for "gapps".
:good::good:
That happened with my galaxy s4, i've flashed wrong gapps and could not login to my account.:crying:
now i'm good after searching the answer on web with the help af xda forum.:good::highfive:
well the phone is non rooted

well yeah i know what you are talking about but the phone is non rooted and it is in warranty
. so i didn't did anything with it !!!
well, then i do not know what have you to do with that. try to go in the shop where is the phone from and speak with stuff from there.
Sorry for misunderstanding you.
Try factory reset (copy all your data to PC before that). If it still makes troubles, bring it back to service.
Well yeah

hello, nice site. I have searched and couldn't find an answer so I hope this is in the right place.
I just got a moto e a couple weeks ago and now my google talk isn't bringing up my contacts. It is hearing me because it comes up in text but then an error message: Sorry, the action you tried to perform requires Device State and Content, which is not available on this device"
Does anyone know what is going on here?
thanks in advance for any help I can get.

I would but it's doing it again since I did a hard reset. Last time I just left it alone for a bit then when I tried it later it gave me an option at bottom of screen to enable. good luck.
If anyone here knows what may be happening here your help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I got it back again, here is what to do:
go to settings: apps: google app: manage space: then clear your data.
I cleared all data but you may want to try and just clear your search data first. I hope this works for you, if it does could you hit my thanks button?
Ya so...
I wont go into details (seriously, this post seems long but its 1/5th what I sent to Oculus Support), but the basics are got a new Gear VR to complete my set (Note 4/Gear S/Gear Circle/Gear VR), plug it in, it does initial setup install, then "Install VR Apps" DIES IN A FIRE...
Or more to the point all the installations fail, in the notifications area when I click on the failed message it gives me an update required message for Oculus System Activities, I hit the update, it seems to start downloading com.oculus.systemactivities but once it finish's it doesnt seem to actually install...
Tried factory resetting my phone as well this evening, no joy...
I have a ticket into Oculus but with the posts in the Oculus forum's about replys from them and other members replys... figured I would post here!
IF ANYONE WITH A GEAR VR THAT WORKS CAN GO INTO APPS MAKE SURE THEY HAVE Oculus System Activities, PLEASE send me the com.oculus.systemactivities apk file...
Either way, thanks as well

I forgot to note I had factory reset my phone and started from scratch!
Needless to say, I did see someone mentioning something about Facebook buying Oculus, however I seem to have Happily put it out of my mind (cannot stand facebook), went to all 3 facebook apps force stopped, cleared updates and cleared data, then tried again...
TA FRACKING DA! Its too late for me to play with it tonight, but I will tomorrow...
but SERIOUSLY, whats happened with developers who don't, 1 list dependencies, and 2, build warnings in... I recalls apps where I would try to run and they would say "you need this app" or "you have disabled this needed app" or "this app failed to start and is needed, clear cache"... now you just get unhelpful error reports or most of the time, nothing happens to let you know something isnt working right!
Needless to say, I don't need the file, but Ill still post it here later in the case someone else needs it...

A simple click on the Thanks button would motivate others when they take the time to help you solve your question
I have the original microsd with all files but are 10gb with videos and all.
Theres another thread who have the same problem as im: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2779190
BUT, it was closed without a direct answer to the question. I can only see a little hint though im not sure.
I get this error and why is it?

I was having this problem, but then I uninstalled and reinstalled and now everything is working okay. Also I authorised my google account (I'd been ignoring a warning message until then), but I don't think that had any influence on Link2SD.
