Get a port by buying a usb dongle

An OTG or On The Go Adapter allows you to connect a USB device to the power port.
Keep in mind that it can't read any real usb flashdrives, only sticks. All I get on 8 different OTG adapters when using my 500GB, 750GB, 1TB and 2TB drive is "High voltage device not supported" or something equally rubbish.

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah. But there are 2 types of MHL cables. 5 pin an 11 pin cables. 5 pin can work on older Samsung devices, but 11 pin can only work in SIII. Also 5 pin can't work in SIII.
Now we raise the question, is cable from SIII compatible with this phone?
Well i would buy one to test it if it didnt cost 45$... :/

So it's the 11-pin for the S3?
Total rip off wouldn't pay that price.

Hi,
Someone I know who has one of these working on his S3 anyone know if it would be any good on the mini ?

Also saw this, claims to work....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MHL-HDMI-..._MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item4d09c565b5
Ta,
Im waiting for mine to arrive. But I bought the 11pin china brand.
http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/300802132125?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Last time I bought the 5pin also china brand and it worked for my S2.
So its not about having original Samsung adapter or not as long it is supported.
Anyhow, will confirm this again once the cable arrived

OTG support :(

I just ordered an OTG cable to try out on my DS, but on the Internet I found out that maybe it doesn't support USB host... If it doesn't. I saw people on the net achieve it on a Desire, with patching the kernel, so why wouldn't Desire achieve it. I was really excited about this, but now that I've seen this, I'm starting to feel like I just wasted my money (i mean 2 bucks is not much, but whatever ). Did anyone try this out?

Isn't there an app that allows a wireless xbox controller to work on Android?

I don't have the money to buy a wireless controller, and btw sixaxis works only with supported games and emulators. I wanna use joystick center app which allows to map any touch on the screen so I can play anything, or do anything with the controller.

ops, no i'v read wrong i think u wait the cable to put the patch into the phone..
my faut :S
But I don't wanna patch the kernel before I get the cable, maybe it will work from the start without te patch (which is very unlikely to happen ). I need a tip though, when I start flashing the mod, I'll probably do It like this: ill put the zip onto the sd, I'll boot my phone into fastboot, flash boot.img via the Boot.img flasher program, then I'll boot to the recovery from fastboot, and finally flash the zip and reboot. Is this okay? About the flashing program, I don't like to flash the boot.img the old way, it is a lot easier this way.
