Awesome app, must try! Gravity Screen Off - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree
This app uses your phone's motion, gravity, and proximity sensors to automatically turn on and off your screen so that you don't have to press any keys (software or hardware).
For instance, when I put my S4 inside my pocket or holster it to my belt clip, the screen turns off automatically. When I take the phone out, the screen turns on automatically as well.
I've tried a few apps similar to this before but this one just works very well and consistently.
I already installed it on my mom's and wifey's S2s and they love it too~! Just wanted to share the goodness~

Wow it is pretty impressive! Thanks for sharing. .

No problem. I figured there must be others who will find this kind of app convenient to have around. I just love not having to press the home or power button every time I want to turn the screen on.

The author of the app said to expect a hit about 5%. I've been using it for 2 days now and I haven't noticed any difference so far. But then, I'm running on the ktoonsez kernel with -50mV, all-around.

Freekin love this app

Thanks for the heads up op! works like a charm, now I've got to get used to not pressing my power key on wake
****'ll Buff Out

Sweet app....I noticed I had to lower the sensitivity while my phone was in my mount while driving. The screen kept coming on.

Nice catch. Love this app.

This is exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks for the find!

Very nice find, bought the pro version right away, this is awesome but does anyone knows if there's something you can do so when you put your phone face up on the table it lock it without waiting 5 secs?

The only time the screen turns off on me when I don't want it to is when I text and I accidentally rest one of my fingers over the proximity sensor by mistake. Otherwise, it's been good. I wish there was a time-delay option for proximity sensor to turn off the screen so an accidental finger covering up the proximity sensor doesn't turn off the screen right away.

I see. It's an extra step but you could pull down the notification menu and pause the app before gaming then turn it back on afterwards. My mom tells me that sometimes when she's watching Netflix, the screen turns off on her. I told her not to cover up the sensor but she just disabled the app.

Thanks! This fits the bill, the other drivers on the road thanks you too!

According to GSam battery monitor, Gravity Screen Off is responsible for only 0.2% battery drain. I haven't noticed any extra drain because of this app.

3 Finger Slide Remap

So I recently learned that by sliding 3 fingers up the screen it launches the Media Link HD setup/app. I think it would be cool to be able to remap that gesture to something else, say Google Now. I figure this is stuffed deep inside one of the framework apk, so is this even possible?

Have fun with that, you'd be keeping a constant partial wakelock to have it working while the phone is asleep.
You'd probably lose 60 percent or more of your battery in 8 hours even with the screen off.

It works when its placed on a flat surface. I also believe it works by using the proximity sensor which of course also uses light sensor so it can see your hand in the dark. I really do hope someone can get this to work on our GSIII.
Its cool. Don't see why it would be useful though..

You're at work, sitting at your desk. Your led light is blinking and you want to see what you've missed.
Hit a button? Who does that nowadays? Simply hover your hand over the proximity sensor and bam! You notice you've missed a text, which can wait. Carry on with your work, son.
Or you can wake your phone when the led is blinking, respond to the text, and then waste time on your phone reading XDA when you should be working.

Wow, that is pretty nifty. Let's be honest, most of the GSIII features are mostly just cool things to show people with SOME (but little) real application.
I would love this as well.

I wonder how much battery this consumes as it'd have to keep the proximity sensor active all the time.

Tap to wake - aka PGM - KnockOn

Lets Get this Note 3 party started!
The LG G2 has the knock on feature by stock default, called "KnockOn" since it has its only buttons on the back.
I currently run an app called PGM along with Fancy Kernel on my Galaxy Nexus this provides the same functionality.
Phone on desk in sleep mode, screen off. TAP TAP! on the screen and she wakes up.
Hoping we see this implemented on the Note 3 as its a feature that everyone loves and uses all day long.
Does your Galaxy Nexus suffer battery loss because of using that feature?
Sounds cool, I wouldn't mind that feature does it require root?

The Note 2 and 3 has a home button that will wake the screen, so I see no need for me to use a knock-on feature..
I have it right now on the Note 2 using a different kernel and trickster mod app. Only issue is that if your pants have a thin inner liner your leg will turn on the phone. Same thing happened when I first did it on the Verizon Nexus. So it's not phone specific.
I'm sure that issue can be rectified with some enhancmenets for example :
- While Offscreen, reduce screen sensitivity
- If Offscreen AND touchwake event occurs, check light and proximity sensor, if both are dark and proximity==1 DO_NOT_WAKE_SCEEN
- Etc.
As for the dude who said the home button wakes the screen, that might be true,
but When you handle the Note with one hand, it is very uncomfortable to click the home button, skipping it would be awesome.
There was no appreciable drain on the galaxy nexus.
sounds interesting going to give this a try. As so for why we need it when we have a physical button? Because of its size. You don't have to reach all the way to the bottom to press the home button.

I really don't understand why aren't the companies making more use of gestures on the phone...
double tap at the top of the screen to scroll to the top
double tap at the bottom to scroll to the bottom
etc
Yeah if its in a custom rom or kernel then it must be good

But isn't clicking the home button (1 click) more efficient than knock on (two clicks)? From what I've read about knock on on the LG g2, it's not awfully reliable as well.

These look ok, but they don't seem to have pocket mode as well like Mahdi rom does...
And they're not the same. The notifications don't start as icons on the right that you can slide to view.
Use Mahdi ROM, or even AOSPAL. Even the other Roms with it as well, because I don't think you will find an app with the exact look, or pocket mode at all. It's seems to be more of an Internal type of feature.

Barely any, only about 1-3% from a 100% charge to 5%.
The Gravity Screen app in the Play Store is similar but works slightly differently, you can use that if your ROM doesn't have pocket mode.

I know that Carbon, Paranoid Saberdroid and Mahdi ROM has it, along with lockscreen notifications. Also, note that the battery drain that Gravity Screen would show is negligible across time (most I ever saw is 5% from a 100% charge), but if you check your battery only after a short period of a few minutes it'll appear to use around 25% battery, so don't worry if it appears to use a lot in the first few minutes. Also recommend to have Wake by motion and Keep screen on by motion turned off.

Yes it has but I've tried it and it does not catch all notifications for me. And when clicking some notifications it would stay at the lockscreen so I would have to manually unlock after pressing the notification. It worked very inconsistent for me. Worked much better when I was using the Mahdi-rom.

Wow
Hmmm the whole point of this being on the LG G2 and 3 is because having to pick the phone up everytime to check messages etc was a bit frustrating. However, this app is TOTALLY pointless on the Note 3 where we have 2 (potentially 4) ways of turning on our display.
1. Use the damn power button located on the right of the device.
2. Use the damn home button. You know....that big button in the lower centre of the device.
3. If you have the mod. Press either vol up or vol down to turn on the display.
4. If you have Quick Glance turned on. Hover your hand over the proximity sensor....
This app is just unnecessary.

First of all waking up the screen using sliding or double tap is more easy and it will save these buttons from being destroyed by repeated pressing ( dont look at one day or even month use I talk about longterm use)
Also it is a matter of personal like to use an app which u may not like but I consider ot useful
The question here is that will it affect the display or the device on longterm use or not
Anyone who may know the answer please respond
Thanks

All you have just said makes no sense whatsoever. Buttons are there to be pressed, they wont depreciate over time, hell I've still got a nokia 5110 from 2003 and the buttons work just fine! This app if anything will drain your battery because it must have a mechanism inside detecting when someone touches the display.

When I installed this app last night my battery was at 55%, but when I woke up the battery was down to 15%! Shame because I like the app but had to uninstall it unfortunately.
Wow, this app is really that battery consuming? I really love the idea though, waking up my phone just tapping the screen
Of course, It will drain your battery, Coz its working through sensors and app will run in the background. I had htc x in that dev used some code itself in kernel, that was working very well and battery friendly. I hope our note 3 kernel dev will consider that and include it in future kernels.:good:
