[Q] Does the HTC Desire X support Adobe Flash? - General Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
I have checked the site http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_x-4951.php and it states 'Browser: HTML5' most of them on GSM Arena do have 'Adobe Flash' there as well, I have checked on other sites and some places do say the HTC Desire X does support Flash, and some say it doesn't.
What will it be? Can anyone that owns this phone or used it before confirm if it supports Adobe Flash?
This is taken from the official HTC website on the Desire X handset.
Rich and seamless browsing experience
Enjoy HTML5 and Flash® content on the go. And no more panning left and right. The web browser's text reflow automatically adjusts text to the width of your screen. To find out more about using the web browser, see Browsing the Web.
You can also keep a copy of what you're browsing so you can read it later even without an Internet connection. See Saving web content for later.

Please help me clear this up, it's one of the features I want my new phone to have and the other phone I have looked at is the 'Samsung Galaxy S Advance' which states 'Browser: HTML, Adobe Flash', so an advantage for the HTC would be that it is HTML5 what ever this means.
Please help me clear this up, thanks!

The easiest way to get flash is to use a browser that supports it. For example my favorite browser is dolphin browser and it supports flash. So download dolphin browser from the play store and that should work.
Press thanks if I've helped u

Thanks, but in terms of the Browser on the HTC Desire X does anyone know or tested if it supports Flash at all? Would appreciate it, if someone who has used the phone before could give me there input here, cheers.

Dolphin Browser HD now has Flash!

For those of you that pulled the trigger on the official sprint update and lost the flash capability of the custom roms, there is good news. I found Dolphin Browser HD in the market and it runs flash content better than any browser I have seen thus far for android. Check it out, I was pretty excited to see this.

hmm really? like real inbrowser flashh?
It displays my website that requires Flash 10 and the default browser with the official sprint 2.1 won't. I like the look of the UI too.
Sweet. I'm gonna check this out.
Are you sure about this? I've been using dolphin browser for a while and I've never got flash stuff to work

You know this has got to be an fluke of some kind. I can run flash content on my Dolphin Browser HD with no problems. I can't run flash in the default browser.
Last night I installed Dolphin Browser HD on my wife's phone and her phone says she needs to download a flash player to view content. I have tried over and over to get hers to work and nothing, but mine works. I have no idea why. Is there a way to do screen capture video on these devices so I can show you?

Change your user agent to desktop.
it works when user agent is Android too, but a lot of pages default to mobile, so changing user agent helps with that.

Even Hulu loads (not the movies though, just says not available for your platform)...the user agent string for desktop can't be changed in Dolphin by chance, can it? Not that it would be much use on my Hero anyway, it seems pretty slow.
I tried both user agents on my wife's phone and it won't load flash, but mine will. I still can't figure out the difference.
Wouldn't work for me.

Aye works in DolhphinHD. For IMDB at least...Some other sites want me to open the flash content in another app...
why can't i play movies in You Tube with Dolphin HD?
flash plays on android 2.2 or above.
I've been wrestling with the Flash issue for months. I tried SkyFire and that doesn't work, tried Dolphin HD and that doesn't work, Youtube App doesn't work, Hulu App doesn't work. I'm pretty frustrated but I'll uninstall Dolphin HD and download the latest from the market just in case and try it again.
I managed to find a Flash 2.2 APK and it works about 15% of the time so it asks for an upgrade to the new Flash Player. It sucks we don't get native Flash on teh Hero as I use this now as m daily business phone.

Pdf files

Hey guys this may have been asked before but I don't know if I can search using the xda app. Is there a way to open pdf files in the browser. When I click on the link that opens the file it just brings up a blank screen. Any way around this?
Thanks everyone

Is anyone else even having the same problem?
Yes you can search, both in the xda app you are using ( but it won't limit to just one section), and also on the website.
As far as pdf files go... it just auto downloads them whenever I click one.
Sent from my Inspire '4g'.
After downloading them, should be able to open them with the included Adobe Reader app no?
Well the specific website I'm trying to open the file from opens it in a pop up window rather than downloading. The pop up window comes up however it is just s blank white window. On a pc it's in this window that I can save the pdf file however I can't do that on my inspire. I've had windows mobile smartphones for the past few years and this is my first android device.

Yes, I'm having the same problem with specific websites. I have one that I would love to download pdf's from and I get the blank website just like you. Even switched to Dolphin browser (which I really like generally), and I have the same issue with this particular website. Anyone have a solution?
try a 3rd party browser. maybe dolphin or opera mobile.

internetbrowser only showing mobile versions

Hello dear people
i just got my HTC sensation and im getting a really nasty problem:
my phone shows only internetpages in mobile view and even i chance settings not to show up mobile view, it does it though!!
has anybody the same Problem oder can anybody help me out with this issue?
Help is greatly appreciated!
While I am still using my Nexus One, as the release of the sim-free Sensation is almost a full month in the future - and therefore can't say if there is a settings toggle that would solve your problem:
Dolphin HD is a great alternative to the default browser, it allows for changing the user agent which will allow you to view all sites in default desktop-view: https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser&feature=search_result
Most mobile versions of popular websites really are rubbish, and many of them miss the basic functionality of efficiently switching to their sites desktop view.

Well thanks for this answer, tried the dolphin browser and surprisingly it works on this browser
Think i gonna use this browser in future so problem is basically solved.
Now i got a new problem: all wallpaper which i tried to use wont scroll on the home screen not even those wallpapers which are saved on the phone on standard... can anybody help me out? On my old desire, all wallpapers are scrolling!
some sites force mobile sites automatically no matter what. look on the page for a link to view full site. maybe that'll help?
On some sites there are links for the full site indeed but i dont want to always cklick these links first. On my old desire all pages are displayed in desktop view wenn i disable the mobile view in the browser settings. On my sensation it always shows all page in mobile view whatever i set the option to. But with dolphin browser it works and by the way im starting to like this browser more then the standard one
To my second problem, can anybody tell me why wallpapers wont scroll one the home menu on sensation?

It works apart from engadget as far as I can tell.

From my experience even if you uncheck mobile in browser settings some sites still come up as mobile. My solutions to this is I type the full web address of the site I want to visit. As In www.wisn.com. Every since I started typing the full web address into the stock browser all sites come up as the full website. When I found this out I uninstalled dolphin. Hopes this helps.
Edit:
Besides the full web address typing, I found some decent info while searching threw Google and posted a thread in general. It might help or it might not. But its something you might want to check out and give it a shot.

This has worked on EVERY single phone I've owned EXCEPT the sensation.

This actually doesn't do anything unless you select the option for Manual UA string and enter the code manually, but either way, it reverts on reboot.

Default web browser after a reboot?

I've had this problem on my Evo and now also on my TF...
Every time I reboot my device when I click a bookmark or URL link of any sort it asks me which browser to open it with and asks to check the box if I want it to always open with that browser. That browser will then truly be my default browser and automatically open such URLs and bookmarks until I reboot and I have to select which browser again... Is there any way to change this so that it remains the default browser and automatically opens links after rebooting? I use Dolphin HD by the way. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, its happening to me too. Hope it gets fixed.
I had the same problem with Dolphin HD on Desire S as well as on Nexus S. Still no fix for this issue?
SOLVED
Ok, I got it All you need to do is to keep browser in phone memory. Concerning Dolphin HD, only browser must be in phone memory, you may move add-ons to SD card...
This worked for my Nexus S but I hope it's universal.

HY,these days is good to have a browser that supports flash adn html5 because these are the most used formats.Chrome is a good browser, but doesnt have flash ,so no flashy stuff in some sites, but it performs very well,my suggestion is to stay with dolphin browser for the next 2~3 years.
Please press thanks if i helped.
Hey,
Dolphin Browser supports them.
But the YouTube sometimes doesn't work on HTC one. There's just voice with no video. Except this, Dolphin Browser is awesome.
Worth a shot.
