How it works
Secret Photo uses a secret box that is hidden from Android OS. Only user using Secret Photo app with correct unlock code can access this box. Unlock code is encrypted in MD5 algorithm. When a photo is selected to hide, it will be moved to this box and change the file so that no other app can recognize its as a photo. You can use hidden photos as regular one: attach to email, share to Facebook, etc.
Hide photos
Two ways to hide a photo
Sharing photo from regular photo apps:
Inside Secret Photos: goto Public photo, click an hold on an album or photo to select, then click on hide icon .
Unhide photos
To unhide, goto Secret photo, click an hold on an album or photo to select, then click on icon.
Unhide photos
Secret Photos provides a handy camera to capture photo that will hide immediately. You don't need to unlock app to use this camera.
Privacy
Unlock
Two unlock types: pattern (default) - gesture based unlocker and PIN - numeric based unlocker. To change unlock method, go to Settings> Privacy settings> Unlcok type. To change unlock code, go to Settings> Privacy settings.
Forget my unlock code
Request unlock code from unlock screen. You should enter unlock code email (see Settings > Privacy settings) in order to receive unlock code
Photo storage, Backup & restore
All secret photos are stored in external memory (i.e. SD Card or external partition). Therefore, your photos can all recover even app is uninstalled and reinstalled
Dropbox
You can link Dropbox account to Secret Photos and to backup/restore
If auto backup is enabled, all new hidden photos will be automatically transfered to Dropbox
Uninstall app
App can be uninstalled as regular app. You should remember your unlock code since you will be requested in the next install
Re-install app
Since Sectos stores data on external memory, you can recover all hidden photos with your old unlock code. If you forgot it, just reset unlock code to create a new one.

What did algorimt encryption is used for storage? MD5 password encryption is irreversible, for him I'm not worried, but I am afraid for the data itself.

Thank vaimr.
For unlock code (pattern/pin): using MD5
For photos: Android OS detects photo files by its extension (ex. .png, .jpg, .bmp, etc.,). To hide a photo, we change its extension and move to a separated folder so that no other app can see them as photo. No real encryption is applied for photos & videos. By this, we can hide photos for most of normal users.

Which folder does this app store its data in? I think something went wrong while hiding some files, and they've been duplicated maybe. There's a huge chunk of space missing.

I hope this could support hiding the photos and videos in the external sd instead of internal sd because it wastes a lot of space in limited memory devices. And also it takes a very long time to hide videos. Hope this could be solved too. Thanks.

data is stored in external storage: [/sdcard]/Android/com.rootuninstaller.photos-data folder. But it's not recommended to edit this folder manually.

My lg device has two storage options one is the internal sd which is named as sdcard0 and the other is external memory card which is named as externalsd in storage. And I can confirm that this app stores the hidden pics and videos in the sdcard0 which is the internal sdcard memory. That means it shifts the video from external sd to internal sd.

[App][2.2+] Photo Locker - Hide your pictures securely

Hi everyone! There is a new addition to the array of handy applications we developed for you Android users!
We are proud to introduce Photo Locker - the ultimate app for hiding pictures on your Android device.
There are always some pictures we wish that can be hidden from the default gallery that is so easily accessible by anyone who uses your device. Thus this app is developed for that very wish! It has been designed to be convenient for use yet not compromising the protection for your hidden pictures.
Photo Locker features include:
1)PIN protection - Hidden photos accessable only via secret PIN code
2)Encryption - hidden photos are not only moved to a secret location but are also encrypted using advanced 128bit AES encryption. This means that even if someone manage to steal your SD card and copy the image files, they will still be unable to view the photos
3)User friendly operation - Easily hide photos via default gallery or from within Photo Locker itself.
4)Bulk hide - hide hundreds of photos at once
5)Folder level locking - lock individual hidden albums
6)Zoom in and out of hidden photos with original photo quality. Hidden photos maintain their original resolution and are not scaled down as in some other photo hiding apps.
7)Rotate hidden pictures left and right
8)Slideshow - Slideshow viewing mode available with customizable delay setting
9)Removed from recent app list - Photo Locker App will not appear in 'recent apps' list
10)Lock on sleep - If you forgot to exit the Photo Locker, the app will lockout as soon as your phone goes to sleep mode.
11)Tablet optimized - Photo Locker's UI has been designed with tablets in mind as well so as to provide the ultimate viewing pleasure on both Android smart phones and tablets
12)PIN recovery - With the optional PIN recovery feature, you won't lose your precious files even if you forgot your PIN code.
13)Easy Un-hide - Un-hide photos just as easily as hiding them and you can decide where the un-hidden photos go.

I upgraded to the pro version, it asked if i would like to transfer the information, so I did. The password copied across, but the pictures are no longer in the free or pro version. I have used a recovery tool to recover some from the sd card still in jpg format that I had deleted previously, however a lot of them are severely damaged or not viewable at all. Any ideas? I gather the photos are still on my sd somewhere in a secure format but I have no idea how to approach it.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Am I missing something or is there a way for the app to save the pictures on the ext sdcard? I don't like that they save hide on internal sdcard. If the phone crashes there goes all my pics.
Thanks

Not all albums/folders showing in Google Photos app?

Hello,
My Google Photos app is only showing the photos taken with the pixel camera in its gallery. If I swipe right, I can choose "Device Folders" and this lets me see photos I've posted from Instagram and any screenshots I've taken. The photos I've downloaded from Chrome or from Facebook are nowhere to be found in the Photos app. Any help? I want to stay away from thrid party photo/gallery apps. Anyone know how to add device folders to the Photos app? I have root btw.

I only have "Camera" "Instagram" and "Screenshots". No other folders are showing
Please understand because I have this same problem. When I download a picture from Facebook it is no in Google photos. NO folder for Facebook is listed. It is NOT in the camera folder.
Usually, if you have images from Facebook or Screenshots they are stored in their respective folders inside of the pictures directory. As mentioned above, in Photos, if you tap on the 3 lines on the upper left of the screen and choose "Device folders" it will show you all images stored locally on your phone. If you suspect Photos is not behaving correctly, you can use the Downloads app to also see images stored on your phone.
Simply launch the app called Downloads. Tap the 3 lines in the upper left (if the menu doesn't open automatically) and choose Images. That will also show all the folders with images on your phone.
This happened to me too. I tried downloading some high resolution images sent to me via email, and although they showed up in my Downloads folder, nothing I did would make them show up in my actual Photos app (under Device Folders or otherwise). If you go to Downloads folder multi-select the photos you want, and click the 3 dots in upper-right, it lets you choose "Upload to Photos" as an option. Though it makes you choose an "Account" (where my gmail address shows). You'd think this would work (since the Photos app logo is alleged where you're 'uploading' these photos to), but this didn't work for me either! Anyone else have any luck? I don't want to take 'screenshots' of these high-res photos as I feel it will reduce the photo quality. Please help!

[APP][4.2+] PhotoGuard - Photo Vault Hide Photos & Videos ?

Hello guys !
A few days ago, I released the app I've been working on for the about 2 years - PhotoGuard.
PhotoGuard is basically a photo vault and it will protect your photos & videos.
The main architecture was shared with some of the best security consultants, applying it.
Knowing my competitors, best efforts were taken on:
1. Security - Making sure that the encrypted files will be stored on the user's devices (without any servers involved), and indeed unbreakable without knowing someone's passphrase. (If anyone would like to know extra information about the way it was implemented in the app, send me a message please)
2. UI/UX - Making sure that the security layer is as much as transparent to the endpoint user, so that the UI/UX is beautiful and smooth.
Currently the app doesn't have any ads or premium payments (even though the app page states there are), so it's totally free app.
I'll be very glad if you guys are willing to visit the app page and try using this really amazing app.

The app has albums and you can apply a password to each of the albums, so basically an album can be treated as a standalone vault.
There will be a sync to Google Drive and other cloud services in the coming updates!
Great, thanks!
I would *love* it if this was open source. It seems all vaults - entrusted with out most private pictures and documents - require us to blindly trust the publishers not to do anything bad or copy them. Would this be something you would be able to alay by going open source?
Edit: a dark theme would be amazing!
Furthermore, many XDA users are privacy-savvy and going open source would likely get you on f-droid and privacytools.io and their reddit sub, you'd reach so many users this way. Please think abount going open sauce

Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to hide the albums? I usually have 2 or 3 "vaults" independent from each other. For what I understand you can set password for every album, but all of them will be visible on the "front page", correct?

The albums are shown but without a "front page", if you set a password to the album, the "front page" which is basically the last photo in the album is not visible and users will see a "locked album" icon.

I'm very glad you're using PhotoGuard, thank you for the suggestions!
1. Unhiding to original location: I think it would be a bit problematic. What happens if the user doesn't remember from which album/folder he originally took it from, furthermore, what location do pictures/videos that are taken in the app itself should be exported to?
2. select all - a feature that will be available within the app when selecting items to export/share/delete.
3. backup/restore - The app saves its encrypted data in the external storage. which means that the data is backed up automatically. So when you install the app back, it recgonizes your existing vault with the data in it.
The next significant feature that will be added to PhotoGuard is a private encrypted cloud that will be available to users using their Google Drive account.

Ive been using GalleryVault for a very long time now, which one do you prefer more?
How is the encryption on this App, would anyone be able to like "hack" my Pictures on there? I'm just curious because I found nothing about that in GalleryVault and it seems interesting if this App can do that better

I still prefer GalleryVault, but I'm midful of it being close source and their sync option is pushed heavily. I do not want my stuff in the cloud.
I'm not sure on either's encryption, but oyu have to trust something.
This seems fricking great, im currently using eds to protect my videos and photos, have you tough about this app protect videos as well? Thanks man really nice app
How about a mirror for those of us who don't use Google services??
Nice!, I was looking for an on the fly camera with encryption, I was using SafeCamera for a long time.
- When rotate the phone during a video play, it starts the decryption again I think.
- Pictures and videos won't keep the normal view as taken in another camera, I mean the pic keeps "sideway", so If I rotate the phone the pic rotate again
- Any plan to create a tool for PC as SafeCamera has?
Thanks again, great job!
Would you add a private browser /incognito.?
-please *no* browser, keep it a gallery
-new look&feel...I can't see any difference
-app feels fast, but a dark theme would be nice
-please remember where photos are added from so when they're removed/unhidden from the app they can be restored to their original folder AND original file name - app shouldn't touch any file info
-backup/restore would be nice to transfer between devices encrypted.
-break in attempts could be something to look at ie capture front camera image from incorrect pin/fingerprint
-in albums, list & current gallery view would be nice
-viewing an image, text overlay of image number ie 34/300 perhaps
-I'm hugely against a cloud link, but do what you will
re 'What happens if the user doesn't remember from which album/folder he originally took it from, furthermore, what location do pictures/videos that are taken in the app itself should be exported to?'
That's the point, the user doesn't need to remember the original folder, just restore it to the one it came from or give the option to. App-captured images should to to the folder you currently export them to, PhotoGuardPublic.
