Hi Guys!
I'm doing a college project where I use the phone and the Bluetooth conectivity to detect the position of a user. To do this, I need to keep constant the transmission power (it seem that bluetooth module uses the RSSI parameter to change the transmission power and save battery life).
Anyway, I think I have to change some default parameter of the bluetooth to keep constant the transmission power.
It is possible? I need to modify the bluetooth drivers? O there are an easier way to do this?
Thanks!

Is there currently any way of tethering the GPS to a computer/laptop so i can use it as a serial or Bluetooth GPS device?
Could this be achieved using scripts similar to the way WiFi tethering is done, or is it more complicated then that?
Also, could an app be written that achieves this?
I agree this would be a nice feature. Hopefully with bluetooth tether. Can use old wm for gps program
This should be possible. Someone would need to write a script or app that takes the GPS position data and outputs it in the standard NMEA format that most other mapping software and/or hardware accepts.
Once you have that, you can perhaps broadcast that via bluetooth or maybe even wifi on a specific port.
hi,
im searching for a solution to automaticly turn off wlan when its accidently leaved on and has no connection after some minutes.
im experimenting with mortscript but its a bit difficult cause i can only toggle wlan (no explicit on/off).
any ideas? thanks!!!

I suggested something similar previously, and that was a program that would manage WLAN such that it keeps WLAN off when not needed, and once another program tries to access net (connect), it would then turn on the WLAN automatically so that connection can be used with that program.
Maybe something that could be implemented into the existing G-Profile.
There is a native timeout option somewhere in wlan settings but it only works when you are not connected to any router. And it should turn off when device is suspended if you haven't tweaked a specific regkey
you can use mortscript to run an app which toggles Wifi Off at a specific interval depending on your connection state. there are many small cabs scattered around the forum (easy to find)...
yeah i did it with mortscript. i have about 10 if-clauses. (start fring when wlan available etc.) very powerful scripting engine! i also created some reg keys which are monitored by homescreen+...
Hi!
I have an HTC Diamond, and i'd like to extend battery life when using the WiFi network.
In my Nokia N79 (With Symbian S60 3rd Ed FP2) i can set the transmit power to 100 mW, 10 mW, or 4 mW.
And that of course extend battery life.
Why i'm asking this ? Because the PushMail solution in my company works with a propietary VPN Client, and can use 3G or WiFi, and being in the office, i prefer WiFi connection.
Can i set up that transmit power ? Perhaps in the registry ?
I'm NOT talking about Stand-By configurations in Power Management.
Specifically i'm speaking in change the transmit power of the WiFi.

doubt the qualcom cpu which control wifi, gps, 3g & bluetooth have their settings for such things in software
Thanks for the reply!
Do you know what chipset has that control ?
I want to give WinMo an other try, but, i had more battery life with Nokia, and THE change was modify the WiFi transmit power....

"Do you know what chipset has that control ?"
yes as I state all the features I listed are qualcomm and directly integrated into the cpu of the pda
Perhaps my question was not clear enough.
If i'd like to buy a device who had that transmit power control feature, and of course it's based in the chipset feature...
Do you know what device should be ?

I'm developing a remote control app that will use wifi to communicate with my car stereo. The car stereo has ethernet, and I have the ethernet wired to a wireless AP in my trunk. This works great, but since the phone has a wifi connection, it wants to use it to reach the internet, which it can't do when my car is away from home.
What I'd like to do is develop a script that I can run to route LAN traffic through wifi, but WAN (internet) traffic through the cell data connection. I dug a bit into this issue, and found this suggestion, but it doesn't seem to work, even after adjusting the routing table with a default route through the rmnet0 interface and bringing up the rmnet0 interface with ifconfig.
It kinda seems like something in the OS is disabling the 3G hardware when wifi is active. Is that a known behavior, and if so, does anyone have any pointers on how I can circumvent it? I found this post where someone got working on a different phone. Can this be done on the Nexus S?
Bump.. anyone have any ideas?
Hi there,
I'm using my old Nexus 5 for navigation. Each time when the phone is going to standby, the bluetooth connection (tethering by another phone) get lost.
Is there a solution to avoid this?
Bluetooth timeout is one of the most common reasons Bluetooth is turned off without warning. By default, after about 10 minutes of being idle, your device will usually go into "standby" mode to conserve power. This turns the screen off and removes certain connections, like Bluetooth.
Is there anybody possibility to change the timeout? I can't find this option in developers options.
Guaranteed not to be found under Developer Options.
Not all devices will let you control when your Bluetooth turns itself off automatically.
Every smartphone or device is different when it comes to setting Bluetooth connections and connectivity preferences. You can usually find instructions on how to alter your Bluetooth online by searching for your phone model.
