Aosp wife issues. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So I'm s-off, unlocked bootloader, flashed roms and so on. Whenever I flash something like slimbean or cyanogenmod my wifi and mobile data speeds tank. I have flashed radios with little to no change. I believe in cleanrom it is stated to be on the latest jb software from at&t. Will using the latest 3.18 ruu actually help anything? Do I have to unlock the bootloader again or am I safe since it's s-off and can just flash twrp and a custom rom? My data speeds are fast and normal on sense based roms. Thanks in advance. I can take the abuse.

Yea. Aosp causes lots of issues with the wife
But I think its just how aosp is. I also get better download speeds on sense. Not sure what causes it.

Just curious to see how many people would go back to stock to update. Personally I wouldn't.

I will as I'm still stock. I will root if one of the following 2 conditions are met. We are told we won't get ICS through "official" channels, or I upgrade to the rumored Holiday when my upgrade hits in December. I'm confident we will get an official upgrade to gingerbread. HTC did say something earlier this year about it arriving sometime this summer. However, I'm not gonna get anxious about it until we see a leaked ROM for it.

I ran the Asian WWE, from about a month or more ago, then the telus update from last week. It's no big deal to manually mod the package to install like a normal update. When the official AT$T update comes out, you probably won't have to go back to stock, just wait a day or less and someone will have modded it to install cleanly from clockwork. If it takes more than 24 hours, then I'll certainly post one.
Note that if you do revert to stock just to get the update, you'll probably lose the ability to root your phone afterwards. See:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140104
What's going to happen is people are going to go back to stock, hate it then realize that they can no longer root.
So far anything with the build number 2.37 and up cannot be downgraded and rooted/soff. There is quite a few threads of this in the dhd forum.
Plus well get alot of posts of I'm rooted why doesn't the Ota's work again.

As I recall, from the same time, ATT did reiterate what HTC said regarding the update. That it will be upgraded this summer. With HTC working to unlock the bootloader on the Evo 3D and Sensation, it is possible they would they would unlock ours as well. However, I just wouldn't count on it. For those that are rooted, I would recommend staying rooted until these [email protected] devs here on XDA finally get root on the official gingerbread update.

Yeah, unfortunately these newer phones have been shipping with locked bootloaders. Still, HTC said that the bootloaders will be unlocked and that will come via those phones first OTA updates. We, on the other hand, would have to wait till the devs obtain root on the update before nonrooted users can root and those users who went back stock to obtain the update can go back to being rooted. As we all know, our bootloader was locked to begin with. The Desire HDs haven't got their bootloader officially unlocked, and I doubt they ever will. Same goes for us, since thet Inspire and Desire HD both came out before HTC said they would unlock the bootloaders on their devices.

Why would anyone unroot just to get an update you can get right now? And if you are going to lose the option to go back to root, then definitely forget it. If it's true the bootloader will be locked it should be announced so we can make a stink with HTC again.

It's not the bootloader per se; those have always been locked. HTC just plugged the holes that allowed us to get temproot which is the first step needed to do the rest.

Technically, you can't get it now, since it hasn't been released or leaked. All the current custom gingerbread roms here are actually DHD roms. I have rooted in anticipation of a leaked US Inspire gingerbread rom. Once we get that, we should start to see some more stable roms that don't require apn and gps fixes and require far less updating. Thanks to all the great devs that will make this happen.

Once it's officially released, just wait a few days and all the major ROMs will be updated. Absolutely no reason to go back to stock.

IIRC, someone was was able to flash a boot.img via CWM....so S-Off isn't a crushing priority unless we want to change the radio or version of HBOOT....Still something to pursue....but not choking development.
CM9 is already in an early alpha phase....so when kernel source drops it should help provide data on the broken pieces (unless HTC just happens to leave out the parts we need).
Anyhoo, everyone is getting antsy because there are not breakthroughs happening every day now. You have to understand we are about 70%-80% already opening this entire phone to all of its capabilities that users expect with mature, heavily developed devices (CWM, TWRP, root, unlocked bootloader, a few great Custom ROMs, etc.). The last remaining 20-30%, mostly kernel source, should finish providing what all of us need to 'top it off' (CM9, AOKP, Custom Kernels, etc.).
Be patient, we've already gone through most of the hard parts ....just waiting on HTC now...

Dual Boot , is it possible?

This may be a dumb question, but I thought it would be really cool if it was possible. Would it be possible to dual-boot between a sense ROM and a CM10 ROM with perhaps a script using script manager or TWRP recovery and to fit both ROMs on the system partition would it be possible to combine\collapse certain files that are identical on both of the ROMs? Or is that they completely absurd and ridiculous question?
P.S. I am a horrible speller.

Not currently available on our phone, the closest you're going to come is storing any cross-ROM data on your SD card partition and flashing between the backups of two ROMs. Personally I believe that devs should focus on their ROMs becoming so polished that you won't need to dual boot
What benefits were you looking to get out of running two separate ROMs?

It's a very practical way of testing new roms and rom updates on a second partition, while maintaining a stable rom on the first partition as your "daily driver".
Hi, I have been using bootmanager on my last 2 HTC phones (dhd and sensation) and its great. I used it to test out loads of different Roms and also had a work based Rom (with mandatory extra software etc) and my own for the rest of the time.
I recently upgraded to the one x and was gutted to find that it was not supported. I am lucky enough to have an s-off version so tried a manual setup but it fails at the first hurdle when setting up phone Rom.
The devs seem to be having some time off and their support mail quota is blown so have not managed to ask them. Shame as they used to be great with support.
If the bootmanager devs or anyone cleverer than I has any ideas let me know otherwise I will report back if I ever get it to work.
Cheers

Kinda doesn't matter on chipsets. You just need a kernel that boots 4.3 - 4.4.2 ... For example I port roms from the m7 to the DNA , DLXPUL, and butterfly. Because they all have a kernel that works. And all those devices have different chipsets..... And no resolution doesn't matter either, yes some apps will need to be resized which you can do by editing the dimensions.xml in each app..but sense 5 and up supports hdpi-xxhdpi on most of its applications

If evo source has dropped for 4.3 then all a kernel dev needs to do is see what's the difference 4.3 and 4.2.2 .. I'd look at defconfig between them... Cause 4.3 is still jellybean. I seen you have a kernel dev here.. ask @Zarboz how to do it. He's the genius on porting kernels

Based on what? Of course its possible. The real question is how feasible it is based on how much work needs to be done, versus the desire by the right folks to do that work.
