I've looked around the forums but haven't seen any information regarding rooting or romming the Korean version of the Galaxy R, also known by the device names of SHV-E170L, SHV-E170K, SHV-E170S. I'd like to find out if there is a way to flash Cyanogenmod or anything similar to my phone.
MORE INFO and some hopefully useful files:
The devices (i9103 and SHV-E170S) have different hardware and the comparison can be viewed in a website like pdadb.
Without realizing the difference between the two devices I tried flashing CWM recoveries built for i9103 VIA Odin and was unable to do so. Thinking it was an issue with the rom I tried to flash an i9103 rom on the SHV-E170S and ended up soft bricking it. Luckily I was able to flash the correct JB rom for my device via a rom I found on sammobile and recovered my device. Any one of the three SHV-E170S/L/K roms will work by the way.
Later I found a pre-rooted JB rom on internet and managed to flash it via Odin without any issues.
You can pm me for a direct link as I am unable to post them without having the 10 post minimum requirement.
I also came across a CWM recovery for the SHV-E170S. It is attached to this post.

If the attachments don't work you can pm me for direct links.
Any help is appreciated.
1 What is your question?
2 What are the hardware specs of your device?
3 The phone you're talking about is not a Galaxy R.
Sent from my CM10.1-powered GT-I9103
My question.
The device I have is called Galaxy R Style in Korea. If you search the device names SHV-E170K / SHV-E170L / SHV-E170S on google the results show them as the Korean Galaxy R.
I want to flash CM onto the device. I'm not sure how it can be done if the specifications vary too greatly from the western Galaxy R. I've read the post on porting builds to unsupported devices but I'm still not sure if I can manage to do it for this device.
My question: Is it possible to edit the nightly CM builds (or any good custom roms for that matter) for the western Galaxy R i9103 to make them work on the SHV-E170S? In my searches I haven't found any custom roms for my phone. I did manage to flash a compatible CWM recovery though. Hardware specs below.

How could I get my hands on it
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
we'll have to wait till nov for it to come out and then well need someone to do a dump of the phone.
Aria official update to 2.2 is going to be next month, the same time the gratia will be out for sale in Europe. Expect a liberated 2.2 sense late Nov or in December.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Seriously? That's getting me excited but at&t will take ages to approve and stuff

At&t had 2.2 sense this whole time, they are the ones making us wait.

Seems like someone got hold of gratia 2.2 rom. It would not be too long before attn1 or someone will get hold of this and port it over to Aria.

I think so too. US Aria has a slightly different frequency than Euro Gratia. I had Touch HD (euro) which is capable of 3G, but could only use Edge on AT&T in US.

and someone ask me post my q regarding shv-e120l in this section.... durhz...
Brothers from another mobile mother, or just a case of copycat syndrome? We'll let you be the judge, but from the looks of this latest leak, Samsung's SHV-E120L could be sharing some of the LG LU6200's special spec sauce. Outed over on Cetizen and iNews24, the full breakdown of the device's innards point to a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 HD display, 2 megapixel front-facing / 8 megapixel rear camera, 1GB RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC. We've seen conflicting reports as to the exact version of Gingerbread that'll ship on the phone, with Android 2.3.5 in the running. As for the handset's radios, its purported MDM9600 Gobi chipset indicates tri-mode LTE, HSPA and CDMA compatibility. Sammy's super-sized smartphone could hit South Korea later this month, or in early October --if the passable English in that Google translation can be believed.
Has anyone managed to answer this question? I'm having trouble finding a hardware breakdown for both devices. I have heard that the E120L uses a different GPU, but can't confirm. Would be good to know as I'm sure there will be a CyanogenMod release for the Skyrocket but probably unlikely for the E120L as it is a Korea-specific model...
The Samsung SHV-E120L is supposed to be the Asian market equivalent of the Skyrocket HD.
Here are the spec for the E120S... couldn't find the E120L

Import from china might not add much. 25 bucks would be my guess. The trick is does it have English built in.

They're making so much money off each phone
I'm gonna wait for them to start popping up on Expansys and E-Bay. Hopefully I can get one by November.
Only problem is, you're stuck with MIUI. I love it, but flexibility would be nice.
I don't think they released the proprietary files/libs for the Mi-One, so ROM development never got started for it.
I hope it isn't the same case for this one.

The question is how will the dev community be?
It's a cool phone with great specs and all but if there is little dev support, and Xiaomi is slow with updates, it's not worth getting imo and better to wait for "big" phone companies like HTC or Samsung to out their next big device. For example, when will this phone get JB?

Oooooh. Yeah, that would be tedious to deal with. Shame, because it's such an awesome looking (aesthetically and specs-wise) that it would be sick to run an AOSP-based on it!

That would suck if there was no development.

Import from china might not add much. 25 bucks would be my guess. The trick is does it have English built in.

Hey guys Look at this new phone I just found! It's a 1:1 replica of the Galaxy S4, it even has the Air Gestures and a multicolor LED. The processor is the amazing Exynos 5 Octa (Internally Exynos 5410) The screen is a 720p 5" (compared to 1080p on the real Galaxy S4 but that's not a big deal looking at the price of 215 at Fastcardtech).
Where can I buy one?

I bought one to! Please say your going to build a vanilla android rom! Thats exactly what this phone needs! Also I thought it has the exynos 4410 from the galaxy s3 clocked @1.2ghz? Not the mtk6589.

I forgot to mention I've also got a few ideas/mods we could try if you'd like to help? First being NFC, it comes with an NFC chipped battery I think, but if not in the video they put the NFC battery from the original S4 into the clone and it can still turn on. Maybe we just need to add some software? Also wireless charging, it's got the connectors for the module. Maybe its worth a try?

Actually after some research, the chip turns out to be Exynos 5 Octa (Internally Exynos 5410) which is so awesome! I'll update the post.
And for the NFC/Wireless charging, I still haven't got the phone so can't help so much :/
Really? On Fastcardtech it says that the system shows a 1.6ghz universal 5410 chip but it really has the exynos 4412 at 1.2ghz :/

"Please provide your feedback regarding the call quality and signal reception of the phone as my past experience with clones are not very good. The call quality is too bad and signal reception is also very weak."

i ordered this phone too!!
will there be roms or updates available for this phone?
---------- Post added at 09:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 PM ----------
i was wondering if there would be STABLE updates for the android versions of this phone. Like cyanogenmod or aokp?
in how much time will they be available???
thank you!
Most likely not as rom developers don't develop for clone devices. Mostly due to the kernel source not being available. It will also not have the exynos chip. Most clones never have the hardware they state they do and people only find out after they buy the device.

Since the sources aren't availible as zelendel said, the only ports possible are MIUI and LewaOS. I'll try to port them
Just suscribed
Did Anybody received their units yet? I would like to hear some comments about system stability, calls, network, SAR-Value, and please also get a "test" antutu from antutu devs to see if the 28800 score is hacked
Thanks

no! this phone is galaxy s4 legend and the phone in the video is HDC Galaxy S4 H9500- MTK6589. The galaxy s4 legend has a better processor and better ram.:good:
I've found that it has only 1GB of RAM and it uses the mtk6589 chipset

And about kernel source... If you look up mtk6589 kernel source theres plenty of links that say its released? Am I wrong? :/

MTK is a chip type. Kernel source code is dependent on the device as a whole not just a single chip. Many have proven that it is no the proper kernel source code. One of the reasons why you notice none of the devices with that chipset/clone devices have forums here.
Hey guys!!! 8 months ago I bought a phone which was great for the cash i had collected at that time. I bought a ZTE Blade III Pro. Here are the specs:
Networks: 2G and 3G
Screen: 4" Capacitive TFT Touchscreen, 480x800, 233ppi
Memory: 4GB (1.8 usable), expandable to 32GB via MicroSD card, 512MB RAM
Sound: Dolby Mobile Sound Enhancement
Camera: Primary:5MP, 2592 х 1944, autofocus, touch to focus, geo-tagging, panorama, timing mode, camera filters, 480p video recording | Front:0.3 VGA
Chipset: Snapdragon S4 Play MSM8225
CPU: Dual-Core 1.2GHz Cortex A5
GPU: Adreno 203
Battery: 1600 MaH
Android: 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Since there are no custom ROMs available for this device I decided to port but no success. Then I tried my luck and started to learn how to build AOSP ROM from source. Then I found out that I need a kernel-source and device-tree available. Since ZTE hasn't released kernel-source and device-tree for this phone that was a no go.
So I'm here to ask you can I build my own kernel-source and device tree? And How To Do It? I have read on other forums that you can use drivers from other devices with the same hardware ( there are a lot of them ) but I don't know what to do right now. There are KitKat builds for phones with the same hardware ( HTC Desire X, Huawei Ascend Y300... ) but they have a lot of developers and there are a lot of custom ROMs for them! Please Help Me!!!

Without the kernel source there is nothing you can do. This is the reason developers never touch off beat devices or devices from from China based OEM.
