[Q] SuperSU not listed after rooting Nexus 7 - General Questions and Answers

Yesterday I successfully rooted my Google Nexus 7 using the Nexus 7 toolkit. I noticed that Busy Box and SuperSU were among my apps. I then successfully installed the LiquidSmooth v.2.5 ROM. I then restored a device backup that the toolkit made (option 2). Now I don't see Busy Box or SuperSU listed in my apps.
Is this a problem?
Thank you very much!

Shouldnt b a problem

This shouldnt be a problem at all. SuperSu can b rewdownloaded from the play store, but it isnt needed in my opinion. U are from what it sounds like still rooted, even though u dont have super su. The reason I can tell is that u were able to flash a custom rom.

Yeah you can download superSU from the playstore and the busybox also from the playstore. It happens with me to when i flash a custom rom, they get deleted. instead of superSU- superuser gets installed. man- just download them fromplaystore- it is very simple!!!

Thank you for the replies! I tried a test and downloaded My Backup Root from the Play store, installed it, and performed a backup. The app called for superuser and looked for busy box. It said it found both and the operation completed successfully. So, I guess this ROM has superuser or supersu and busy box included in the code.
Thanks again!

Ya Viper is good rom if you want the tweaks it can do but if you looking for a less tricked out one then Blockout is a good rom and still come with useful stuff.

(Q) a bit confused after flashing rom on my NEXUS 4

Hello,
sorry, im still new to rooting and everything..i've done some basic steps and it appeared that i've rooted my nexus 4 just awhile ago..
after i've rooted my phone, busybox and superSU appeared on my app tray..i've done all the necessary steps and then i wanted to flash a custom ROM onto my phone..i flash Paranoid Android 3+ the latest release which is 3.15..i've done the required steps to flash and i've succeded in flashing the rom..
now, the problem is, i've watched one of the tutorial's on installing this custom Paranoid Android 3+ rom and i saw that man's app tray does have superSU app but mine DOES NOT.
what does this means?..did i do anything wrong?..is my phone not rooted anymore?..i'm a bit worried actually..or is it normal?
i'm a bit confused..pls help me..is there any way to fix this??
thanx!
Using the custom recovery, reflash the ROM then gapps again..
You may just need to reinstall superuser.
Try installing a root permission required app from the play store( SuperUser). If it works you still have root permission and just download a SU app from the play store. If that doesn't work or says root permission required you somehow managed to unroot yourself. You'll have to repeat the process of rooting if its the latter of the two.
Try downloading a root checker from the play store and check. If you just need the superuser files...google is your friend.

Don't follow YouTube videos. They are normally out of date. Your issue maybe that alot of AOSP based roms no longer use a stand alot SU app but have it built into the roms itself. This would bbe why you don't have an icon. Check your system settings for super user

'Root binaries' missing after rooting with guide on XDA forums

I'm having issues with my OPO root. I unlocked my bootloader, flashed TWRP and rooted by installing SuperSU through a zip. All was good and root was working yesterday.
I haven't done any Android updates, but my root is gone! If I open the SuperSU app it does this (see screenshot in attachments)
I tried reflashing the zip through TWRP but the same happens after rebooting.
Any ideas?
Turns out this is all because I uninstalled BusyBox, any suggestions as to what to do next? Someone on the forums here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54001747&postcount=5 got it to work by wiping and reflashing everything but I'd rather not do that...

What? I wasn't going to restore system data anyway. I don't want to redo all my settings again so that why i need a titanium backup, which i cant make without root.
You guys are totally out of a clue.
First: why do you uninstall busybox? Read twice, flash once. If you knew what busybox is for you probably would avoid such errors. Don't tweak your devices if you're not savvy of what you're doing or xda forum will always be cluttered by such threads.
Second: System options backed up can screw up your phone if they do not apply to the ROM just installed causing various problems if not bootloops. DO NOT RESTORE EM. NO WAY.
Hope this helps.
PS: Install busybox from play store to solve the issue.

I have this same problem as OP. Ok well since the app keeps crashing on startup, flashing a zip seems like a good idea. Where did you find this zip file?
Same Problem
I lrooted my opo and flashed Sabermods Cm Lollipop and am also getting the same notification, any root needed apps are telling me the phone isnt rooted?? I also tried installing this busybox but wont work cause the phone is coming up as unrooted?
Has anyone a straight answer for this dilemma that doesnt include a full wipe/flash rom again...?

Had this problem to, try to uninstall supersu etc. Flash latest su and problem fixed, im on slimLP rom
Ok, I can't seem to get back root either. I had root and was running ParanoidAndroid. I wiped clean, flashed Cyanogen 12 nightly, flashed Gapps, wiped cache/dalvik. Everything rebooted into Lollipop fine, but I've lost root and can't seem to figure out how to re-root. I flashed the most recent SuperSU (2.46) via TWRP with no luck. Keeps saying I need to re-root first. Any ideas?

SuperUser denied

So I flashed CM 11 and I am really enjoying this ROM. When initially setting up I mistakenly let Google restore my apps. I was not aware that SU was already built into CM 11, so I ended with SuperSU and SU installed at the same time. A few of my rooted apps were allowed root access, but now every time a new app ask for SU permission it is denied.I have deleted SuperSu and rootchecker says I have root.
Does anybody have a suggestion?

Thanks for the reply. This worked. Is their a problem using SuperSu while SU is running as a system app...should I try to delete SU?

Not that I know of. I've been using SuperSu all the time. I prefer it because:
I paid for it, so I want to get my money's worth!
Chainfire seems to always be on top of the latest fixes, including how Lollipop may have to require custom kernels, which means unlocked bootloaders. Uh oh.

Xposed on Alcatel Onetouch Flint

Hey guys, I found a way to install Xposed on the Alcatel Onetouch Flint by Cricket wireless. First, your phone must be rooted and you must have SuperSU installed. Next, you need to download FlashFire from Google play. Now download the latest version of the Xposed framework installer zip here: http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk22/arm/
You also need the Xposed apk for lollipop here, JUST DOWNLOAD DON'T INSTALL IT YET: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3383776&d=1435601440
Now open FlashFire andd grant it root access. Hit the plus button and hit flash zip or OTA. Navigate to the Xposed installer zip. This is important: UNCHECK MOUNT SYSTEM READ WRITE. If you don't uncheck this it won't work. Press the check to continue then scroll to the bottom and hit the lightning button to flash. Your screen will go black for a minute before the zip flashes. After its done your phone will reboot. After it finishes rebooting, install the Xposed apk, then you're done.

Do you have SuperSU installed? If so, did u press grant when FlashFire asked for root access?
I have SuperSu installed as i followed your other tutorial. it is just not asking for root permissions i know supersu is working because ESFile explorer and Luckypatcher are working .

Try installing SuperSU to /system. Open SuperSU and click settings and click install SuperSU to /system. It will tell you to reboot after the app closes. After you do that and reboot, try FlashFire again
Before I do that is SuperSu supposed to ask me to update everytime I open it? I also noticed that rootking has its own root access manager

Update SuperSU binary with normal option. After it finishes it will ask if u want to remove other superuser apps, click yes and it will automatically remove KingRoot for u. Then it will ask you to reboot
After I select normal it's works for a while then prompts installation failed

For me it said failed but after I rebooted KingRoot was gone and I had root with SuperSU. Did u grant SuperSU root access when it asks KingRoot for root access?
I did but when I restart everything is still going thru KingRoot and SuperSu keeps saying to install and then when I click normal it says installation failed

Uninstall SuperSu. Then try this: http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html?m=1 Make sure to download the zip next to where it says "a newer version" (The second link).
Thanks, I finally got it but had to use SuperSu me pro then had to install SuperSu as a system app then delete both of the KingRoot apps using uninstaller from the play store then SuperSu finally fully updated. The way the link showed didn't delete it it just kept being unable to find any of KingRoot files but I appreciate your time next step is finally xposed. Any news on getting twrp??

Wow Im surprised SuperSUme worked for you. I tried that first and it just hung after the first step then it crashed. We don't have custom recovery yet cuz we can't unlock the bootloader yet. I found a setting in developer options that says "Allow the bootloader to be unlocked" but I don't know how to actually unlock it after enabling that option.
Yea I had to go thru a few different versions of it for it to work. About the unlocked bootloader part it kinda seems like the idol 3 and the Flint are similar you might try the steps used in the idol 3 instructions to unlock the bootloader I would but I'm waiting for the new LCD screen for my laptop.

I'm waiting for someone else to try it cuz I don't wanna get a brick. Problem is this device doesn't have that much community support
I'm about to try it. I'll let y'all know
Installation of Xposed via Xposed apk
I initially backed up via Flash fire and in a bold move even for me,I downloaded and installed Xposed via the 3.1.1 apk.It can be found on the Xposed Lollipop thread at bottom of first post.So far it works fine and even the limited modules I've installed via the apk work fine.I'm in no time at suggesting this will work for anyone else, just stating what worked for me.Ultimately your device is your responsibility. My advice is be patient and read entire threads.I sacrificed three of these devices to soft bricks thinking I knew better than what 7 years of knowledge should have already told me.
