So earlier this week I flashed my tab to 4.1.2 to fix a bootloop problem, only now it randomly reboots at different intervals (anywhere between a few minutes and a few hours) which sometimes seems to be dependent on it's use. On top of this, I am not able to connect via usb except with odin. I have downloaded the latest drivers etc. and this was fine before all of these issues started. No kies, or windows explorer access. It just comes up as "usb device not recognised". Also I'm not rooted. Any ideas guys? I was hoping to backup data with Helium/Carbon before I factory wiped to try and fix this random reboot problem.

I have been trying to use ROM Manager to update my Galaxy S I9000.
I have tried 2 different ROM images for gingerbread but on both occasions the installer hung at 'installing update'.
It clearly doesn't get far with the installation because after pulling the battery and restarting the phone my old OS loads up. Everything works correctly except that I am unable to mount my SD cards over the USB.
Although it does not seem to want to install any new roms, it is able to successfully reinstall the backup image that I made (which fixes the USB connectivity issue).
Any ideas what could be causing the issue with new ROMs?
Thanks.
PS - I know the stock response for ROM Manager problems is 'use Odin' but I have had HUGE issues trying to get my damn phone to connect to kies and I understand I will have the same problem with Odin.
Hey im new here so please excuse me if this is in the wrong category
hi, i currently have a Samsung s2 skyrocket which was rooted and recently acting up so i tried factory resetting it, after factory resetting it the phone kept freezing at the boot up so i looked up possible solution for this problem which only made it worse. after trying to load my stock firmware back onto my phone using Odin i got an error afterwards from accidentally disconnecting it which read "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again" I've tried connecting to Kies only for my computer to not recognize my phone even after running the connection error solution in the Kies application. i cant even get into recovery mode for my phone only shows a blank screen and starts to vibrate.
Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
Samsung Kies should have correctly installed your drivers and you should still be able to flash the stock firmware via Odin even in this state. I've had to do this more than a few times on S2, try doing a google search for "USB drivers for samsung phones" and install them manually if you haven't tried that already, sometimes you have to uninstall the drivers then reinstall them, try other USB ports also. Are you certain that you have the correct firmware, just to be sure before you start?
Once you have the drivers properly installed and your PC recognizes the device, charge the battery to full if you can even if you have to do it with an external charger(you don't want it dying in the middle of flashing), open Odin, try to boot to download mode, when the "connect to kies" screen or if download mode comes up then connect to Odin(don't use Kies), if recognized you'll get a blue or yellow comm# box and it will say <ADDED!> in the dialogue box, select the AP tab in Odin, browse to the stock firmware file and select it, when back in Odin screen select Start, give it a few to flash, when done you'll get a green PASS and the device will reboot, give it time to load into system, sign in to google account and you should be good to go. sometimes you have to flash a couple of times to get it. I hope this helps. Good luck.
get into recovery, install the newest twrp, either through custom recovery already on your phone via zip or through odin using a tar.
reboot into recovery again (should be the newest twrp at this point)
if you still have anything on your internalSD, back it up through mount>mount as usb, plug phone into pc, browse, backup, or use file manager
wipe everything except externalSD
install rom then suggested gapps pack for that rom
reboot to system
wait like 15 mins for phone to do its thing during first boot
good luck
I've come across a problem that's frustrating me to no end. I've been rooting phones for a few years now, usually older models. A friend asked me to root his newly aquired S6 (canadian model, eh), shouldn't be an isssue. I do the standard issue Enable Developer, wipe data/cache, install root and rom, and call it a day. I go to reboot it, and it's in a boot loop for the Samsung screen. I've had boot loops occur before, I'll take care of it.
I've been at this all day (10+ hours), and still don't have a way to escape this boot loop. Problem is that I didn't know about the Reactivation Lock that was still active when I attempted to root. Here' what I've attempted:
- Uninstall/Reinstall USB drivers several times and different versions. Phone will still not show up under ADB Devices and not detected by windows or toolkits (but will still register via Odin).
- Restore from backup: will only boot into stock recovery mode, no option for restore.
- Reinstall Firmware via USB OTG - "USB access is disabled"
- Install other roms, always fail or are denied access
- Update/Change kernel , see above
I could list on and on all the little tricks and toips i've tried from the internet, but what it essentially comes down to is I can't install anything onto the device due to the device not being recognized or being blocked by a permission, and yet I can't get into the actual Android OS to disable/Enable any permissions. Factory reset does not fix this loop, nor does clearing caches. I've tried sideloading, pushing, and various other means to get into Android, but nothing is working. Help?
Hello,
I have an S8+ and since an update i have the problem that the phone runs for
around 2-5minutes and then it freezes, the screen goes black and the phone reboots.
The phone does the same thing in the Recovery BUT NOT in Download Mode.
In Download mode the phone doesn't turn off or reboot by itself.
Factory resetting / Wiping did not solve the problem.
Installing the newest Stock Rom with Odin didn't solve the problem.
Installing an Oreo Stock Rom didn't solve the problem.
I tried many things but I'm not able to find a solution and I can't tell if it's a Hardware or Software problem.
It is unlikely a battery problem because it is fully charged and even while charging these problems will occur.
I tried firmwares from multiple sources but all ended up with the same result.
The phone boots, i can go through the Setup Wizard, log in to Google, connect to WiFi but after a few minutes of usage (usually less than 5 minutes) the phone freezes and reboots.
I have no warranty anyway so I can try out everything you can recommend me.
Thank you for any help!

Same Problem here. Not sure if anyone has a solution for it.
I tried flashing different ROMS via ODIN but it didn't help.
Also when in recovery mode, it gives some file / folder is missing / permission denied messages. (like unknown volume for path /odm) etc.
Any help / clue would be great help.
Pardon for a long story but someone gave this Samsung J7 Prime(SM-G610F) to me with an issue "An Error Has Occurred While Updating The Device Software". So I gave Samsung Smart Switch a try sadly they removed the Initialize option and old version don't seam to do what it suppose to do so I wen to a traditional Odin flashing. I then look for a stock rom for the phone that I think is the right one. Started with android 6 MM region pakistan and flashing went well. I was able to use it for a good hour or two until I notice it restarted by it self, then it keeps doing it 10-20 seconds after booting up. I though its the firmware I'm using so I went and look for Oreo version this time I region india (I don't know if region matters). So I flashed it again and tested the device again. I'm still able to use it for a good while till it restarted again. I then keep testing it to see what may be causing the problem. I notice that when the WIFI is on it just crash the phone to reboot so as soon as the phone reboots I turned the wifi off and it didn't crash anymore. I then factory reset the phone cleared everything, wipe cache then installed benchmark tools first. Thing I notice is it crashes when Google Play store is trying to install or download something. I tested it a couple of times to see when it crash and it does crash when downloading or installing something. I was still able to install 3Dmark and run it with wifi off. It completed the test without crashing so it couldn't the processor issue. I then look for another rom and tried flashing it. This time I had issue with it failing at system.img even if I use recent rom that worked. I then keep trying till flashing TWRP worked and flashing the rest of the rom is fine again.
What bothers me is why doesn't it crash during the first couple of hours. I've search similar issues and they say it may have been and app issue. I've already disabled bunch of app but nothing changed. Run the phone in safe mode but this time instead of crashing and rebooting right away it freezes for a few seconds. I suspect if google play or something being an issue since I've tried disabling it and it didn't crash for a couple of hours. Looked for allot of related thread but none of them seam to solve my problem.
I suspect either its the rom that I'm using and it can only be fixed by using the original rom, or its having a memory issue but don't know how to pin point it. Anyone can suggest on how I can debug this? I'm used to debugging things in real time and my knowledge with android is a quite slim but as a programming understanding the errors won't be a problem. I hope.
Edit: Hmm. Does copying kernel log with TWRP work or the kernel logs get overwritten every time the phone reboots? Because I see the kernet logs but don't see anything failing except for something saying SHUTDOWN but I don't think thats it. :S
Still no reply. :S I think its /system dismounting it self while doing a write operation. but it doesn't trigger until a certain amount of time after the phone is flashed or factory reset. I have to go to recovery and mount system back but that only happens on marshmallow. over version it remounts it self after the random reboot. After factory reset I'm able to install COD mobile and play a couple of match. after a long while it just decides to reboot.
I also tried z3x and after reading PIT from phone OK. the phone just reboots and flashing completes without it doing any flashing.
