I have been trying to use ROM Manager to update my Galaxy S I9000.
I have tried 2 different ROM images for gingerbread but on both occasions the installer hung at 'installing update'.
It clearly doesn't get far with the installation because after pulling the battery and restarting the phone my old OS loads up. Everything works correctly except that I am unable to mount my SD cards over the USB.
Although it does not seem to want to install any new roms, it is able to successfully reinstall the backup image that I made (which fixes the USB connectivity issue).
Any ideas what could be causing the issue with new ROMs?
Thanks.
PS - I know the stock response for ROM Manager problems is 'use Odin' but I have had HUGE issues trying to get my damn phone to connect to kies and I understand I will have the same problem with Odin.

what rom r u using? upgrade from kies or odin?
facing Same issues
I am too facing the same issues since the GB upgrade.
Upgrade done through kies, Device never flashed or rooted.
Not able to install new apps (error says not sufficient space)
Not able to factory reset using code(*2767*3855#)
Not able to factory reset using inbuilt option.
Was able to reset using Recovery console but showed many red messages like "cannot access cache"
"failed to mount cache" etc etc.
Kies not detecting firmware.
Let me know if any of you have solved this issues.
I am thinking of going to Service center.
Flash via Odin guys...
Flash XXKPE twice >> XXKPQ/DDKP3/XXKPM/XXKPN
hi
on xxkp3 i hadnt faced any issues - faced issues after moving to dxkp9 and rooting/deodexing. After that i tried xxkph, xxkpq, moved back to xxkp3, moved back to xxkb3 (froyo) and finally since nothing seemed to solve the random restarts (i also ALWAYS got an "Internal SD card unexpectedly removed" error on ALL roms) i moved to ddkb2 and gave the phone to samsung service centre yesterday. i always flashed each rom twice and always did a factory reset/cache wipe after install
not sure what they'll do....the ridiculous chap gave me some spiel about viruses on android. that totally dashed any hopes i had that the phone would be fixed.
what are my options? thinking of exchanging it for a motorola fire (i need a working phone, and unfortunately ive gotten accustomed to android so need google services like contacts etc). Not sure about samsung's build quality in case this is a hardware issue.
Had oxygen mod installed and franco kernel etc and after months of using it fine I thought the phone was running a bit funny so thought it reinstall fresh.
I knew the files were still on my sd card so i went to go into bootloader or recovery and i got a black screen that had a message Firmware Update Step 1/2 Unpacking.
It finished and appears to put me back on Android 2.21
I then rooted the phone and tried installing clockword mod etc but was having all sorts of problems getting marketplace to work. Can search for apps but when i click install nothing happens. I did enter my gmail account details for sync and it can list my apps available from my account.
USB is not working, it shows up sometimes in the top bar but when i click connect nothing happens and the phone freezes or reboots.
I cant get into the bootloader screen it instead brings up the standard Android bootloader and wont recognise my rom on the sdcard.
I tried rooting with superoneclick and although it roots the phone it seems to cause the issues???
Is Superoneclick the only way of rooting U8800?
So yeah, i rooted my samsung galaxy fit earlier today with no issues, then proceeded to flash a rom. After receiving many errors (e-big partition size, usb not accessible etc) i now cannot turn my phone on as i get stuck at a screen with a picture of a phone and a computer with a warning sign inbetween them.
I've been doing this between two computers, reinstalled drivers numerous times, removed the sim and sd from the phone and tried again, rebooted computers etc.
I can only access download mode, and the other mentioned screen. I can't even access recovery mode.
Every time i have tried to flash using odin i have made sure samsung kies has been shut and it's processes have been ended via the task manager.
At this point i no longer care whether or not my phone is rooted, i just care about being able to use my phone.
I cannot get Samsung Kies to recognise the phone either, on both computers. I get stuck on 'connecting'. I've reinstalled drivers several times with the same result.
Just to clarify, odin does detect the phone, with the 'healthy' yellow box.
Any kind of help is appreciated, perhaps there's a way to force a restore to the stock rom?
I'm pretty desperate.
Issue now solved. I just wasn't aware that there was a version of odin specifically for use with Samsung Galaxy Fit, Pop and Mini.
Hey everyone, I'm using a GT-P5100 (3G + Wifi) O2 UK rooted tablet and for the last month it has been broken. It started rebooting itself randomly every now and then, and then suddenly it wouldn't even boot up for 15 seconds before it would restart itself again.
I am able to get into safe mode and I can get into the boot options, but when I factory reset it does nothing, I've tried from the boot menu, from safe-mode options and even from the dial up code.
I tried to connect my tablet to my PC as a media device and format it but that didn't work either; I can't connect it as a disk then format it that way because they took out 'mass storage mode' on this firmware.
I then tried to flash a stock ROM in Odin but every time I tried it would fail until I used Odin.v1.3, but guess what, it rebooted itself and my entire tablet is still exactly the same.
(the option was on AP ram in v1.3 not AP nand I don't know if that makes a difference.)
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it so much. I have been trying for weeks to fix this and I just don't know what to do anymore, I tried on another forum but nobody answered me.
Everyone else gets replies and I get zilch; amazing. I don't know what it is that is preventing my tablet from wiping itself but it refuses to clear the current data no matter what way I try (ROM, factory reset, computer format). If someone could just tell me what that is and what I have to do about it that would be grand.
You mention "rooted " but you don't mention what current rom or past roms that you may have flashed, you could have some sort of rom cluster [email protected]$k going on in your tab but NO one else will ever be able to help because of lack of INFO or history.
Pp.
I standard rooted it from Odin. This is my first ROM I am trying to flash. I just need to know what would prevent a tablet from rebooting itself properly. Factory reset, format and flash is not working so I must assume that rebooting is the issue here.
If you are running stock rooted rom and having issues like this the only way out is reflashing the stock firmware complete (not just a rom) and see if that fixes it before you try any other roms.
If you can get into download mode thats the fix.
Pp.
To flash it completely do I need more than an MD5 file? (I also have the partition file for my model). Another question, if the tablet is having issues with the reboot after a flash, will updating from a microSD with a zip help? Thanks for the advice.
Hi all! I have been trying to fix this tablet for weeks. It's an SM-T580 Galaxy Tab A 10.1 tablet. It's actually my girlfriend's tablet and she tried to root it first and she royally screwed it up and I am having a lot of trouble cleaning it up.
So, when I got to it, she already had it stuck on the downloader mode and if you tried to boot it, it went to the blue screen that says "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the smart switch PC software."
So here is everything I did as well as I can remember it:
1. Tried every version of smart switch and KIES software. It does not recognize it ever.
2. Tried to flash custom recovery, but FRP lock is still enabled. She must not have correctly changed the settings in the tablet before beginning the root.
3. Tried to flash stock firmware, but it says it needs to be repartitioned. I downloaded what I thought was the pit file, and repartitioned the chip, but it still won't successfully boot. I tried several different cables and ports.
4. Tried to flash probably 10 different firmwares to see if anything would stick. Used several different versions of Odin all the way from 1.3 up to 13.5. Nothing will successfully boot.
5. Found stock recovery (I believe) and got stock recovery on there but when i get to recovery it says it can't mount anything. It gets a huge list of errors like "can't mount E..." I am able to ADB sideload, but so far nothing I try to sideload works because it says it has the wrong footer and the wrong signature.
Am I boned? She left it plugged in for like a week at least, so my assumption is the emmc chip burned out. Any and all help massively appreciated!
