Need Kernel for Note i717 ICS 4.04 - General Topics

I recently went back to the Stock 4.0.4 Rom after trying out the new 4.1.2.
I find it to be a little unstable and it drains battery life.
I still have the downloaded copy of Padawan 5.1.
But i cannot find the Kernel i installed along with it. I do not remember the name of the kernel, but it was on the Padawan download page. That page is no longer available. Can someone post a link to a Kernel that will allow me to overclock at around 1.82 that is stable.
Thank you.

Let me check on my pc, I think I still have the download in my folder. I'll get back...
Actually I think that build had the oc kernal already installed. After you flash the rom, just download setcpu or whatever overclocking app you so choose and you should be able to overclock @ 1.89Mhz (or whatever the max is)
I think that was a UCLF6 build. Check out this website... rootgalaxynote.com I think there is the v6 and v8 and maybe even v9 ICS builds.

[Kernel] FluffKernel Epic 4G version 1.0.5 Rom Manager Compatiable

Here the the first offical release of Fluff Kernel for the Epic 4G
Ok here are two new versions for you all.One is the performance kernel and the other is the battery saver. Both are using the new version of my initramfs that comes with ChainsDD's Superuser.apk and su binary. So i suggest if you have Superuser.apk installed to uninstall it before flashing either of these kernels since Superuser.apk will be installed in /system/app instead of /data/app.And now for the kernels. Both of these kernels are Rom Manager compatiable and have root in them.
This is the battery saving kernel.Changes to it are:
Both Kernels are updated to DI18 sourcecode.
CPU governor set to userspace you can use SetCPU to set the speed of the kernel if you like although SetCPU seems a bit unstable on anything other then conservative.
Default scheduler set to CFQ
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/skeeterslint/FluffKernel-Epic-V1.0.5B.zip
This is the performance kernel.Changes to it are:
CPU governor set to performance your cpu will always be set to max this gives the best numbers in linpack and quadrant if numbers are you thing.
Default scheduler is set to CFQ.
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/skeeterslint/FluffKernel-Epic-V1.0.5P.zip
This is another battery saver kernel for those who don't want to mess with SetCPU is uses the conservative CPU governor that the overclocked kernels use.
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/skeeterslint/FluffKernel-Epic-V1.0.5C.zip
All kernels have been compiled against a toolchain that is stable on the newest OTA.And all kernels have been built with stock Samsung kernel source with no modifications to the source code all changes were to the .config file.

This zip can be flashed with ClockWorkMod or can be taken out of the zip and the zImage can put used as a replacement for the zImage in the one click root method although this kernel has root built into it.I recommend removing the JoeyKrim root method to not cuase and conflicts.
This kernel still has some Samsung bloat in it this will be stripped out as time goes on.I will also be trying out different combinations of CPU governors and schedulers to see which one performs the best.So please test it out and post your feedback.
Link to the stock samsung source that was used for these kernels.

This is not the kernel from the ota this is a custom compiled kernel it should run fine on any roms that are out right now.I am running it myself with no issues at all to speak of.

All the b usybox applets to setup the the loop device should be there. But I have never tried to use them I will have to check the kernel config to see if the kernel is setup for it.

Skeeter this its the best kernel I have used on my phone to date, however one thing to note is that the version of busy box used in this kernel is not compatible with ti backup so the busy box that comes with ti back up needs to be used.

That explains a lot lol. My battery has been draining like mad all day and I noticed that JuiceDefender was having all kinds of errors. Re-downloading and applying now....

OK it was still broken but i promise its fixed now.The battery drain probably wasn't cuased by the kernel some people have had problems with android system running away and draining battery but it has nothing to do with the kernel they have flashed back to the stock kernel and still have had issues with battery drain and android system running away on them.

I wasn't implying that the drain was caused by the kernel, I was saying that my battery was draining because JuiceDefender wasn't able to disable the APN because my root access was broken. D/l-ing update now. Thanks again!
Can i use this kernel with noobnl's Andromeda Galaxy v1.0.3 ROM?

Any recommended Kernel for Rogers stock rom?

Hi guys,
I am currently in limbo here. I have had my Skyrocket since Oct/Nov and I have juggled between half-a-dozen roms. The problem is that non of these roms have allowed me to achieve download speeds that Rogers allows my phone to achieve.
I figured that if I go back to stock then I would be able to get those speeds but the thing is: does anyone recommend any particular kernel to go with my phone? Correct me if I am wrong but it is the kernel that allows for a lot of the performance gains and increases in battery life so I figured that if I had the proper kernel then I can live happily ever after.
Try Bonestocketeer or any of the other almost stock roms. Eugene's kernel from what I remember is really good as its stock but under/overclock unlocked. Make sure that u are using the Rogers radio (KJ7)
Which one is Eugene's kernel?

Bump... Which one is Eugene's kernel. I'd also like it.
Sorry that kernel is for the t989 I believe. Try romracers stockish 0.03. I've tried it and its very stable.

Choose Kernel for Android 4.0.4 Stock.

Hello guys.
I search a kernel for my android 4.0.4 stock . What did you propose ?
I wait your anser for a best kernel.
Nexus S : 4.0.4
what you need from kernel? is speed - you need one kernel, if battery life - other, if mods - third...
I use SimpleKernel 1.20, but it has problem with voodoo-colors.
Truthfully there's no best "kernel". It all comes down to what you want from that kernel. So you should try them all and found out the right kernel for you. For example, if you want stability, simple kernel or thamalus kernel is the right one. If you want lots of mods, Air, Matr1x and Glados would be right. If you want pure performance, Trinity would be good for you.

Thx for your reply.
I search battery life, if i can, modify the CPU.
But really stable for android 4.0.4 stock.
I have download Glados Kernel,
He Work perfectly for android 4.0.4.
Another kernel i don't wan't to try it, because is not certified for 4.0.4.
I personally prefer Simple Kernel. It has BLN, which since I've had the phone, is a must have. For some reason, Voodoo Control gave me issues with my mic messing up, even with suggested fixes, so I use the one with just the BLN add on. Experimentation is the best way to find out. Been running Simple Kernel for 3 days with no reboots or FCs.
I use air kernel. On snoop and smartassv2.some reboots during the week but I think it stock 4.0.4 and not kernel related.

[Q] I want to remove Bloatware and overclock this to 1.3

hi i just got this samsung galaxy s 4g and rooted the phone. i love how it looks stock so i wont need to flash a rom, but i would love to remove bloatware and overclock this. i keep going onto google but i find no straight answer just a bunch of sgs2 and vibrant answers. ive flashed roms before on an htc evo 4g so i got some basic knowledge, but i see i cant use cwm on this device.
i have firmware 2.3.6 please help.
Team Acid KJ6 debloater - http://teamacid.sourceforge.net/debloater/ (source)
AntonX's BML kernel - Basic with a twist 1.1.3
Afterwards install SetCPU / Voltage Control (my favorite).
I believe that antonx has also posted a lightweight KJ6, that was unthemed. Haven't flashed it myself, but that's what I understand from the OP.

Rom manager dose not work with our phone you have to get the kernel flasher from the market and do it like that. I think it's called sgs kernel flasher and it should have a duck on it
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
Yes, AntonX's ROM (in my signature) is stockish but heavily debloated. It rocks. In addition, you can grab his kernel (also in my sig) to OC/UV.
No need to flash a new ROM if you are rooted, just install Titanium Backup (free on the market) and use that to uninstall anything you don't want.
You can also make backups first, just in case you end up needing something later.
To overclock, you might need a new kernel (can't remember) which you can flash in CWM, which I assume you have, since you are rooted. Then get an app like Set CPU to overclock.

thanks man. i did what you said to remove bloatware. i cant run cwm on it since im running gingerbread so i guess i will use kernal manager. this phone seems like you need better experiance then when i had an evo 4g with the evo 4g you will just use cwm and you where good plus there was thousads of kernals and roms for it, but like i said i dont need a rom just to fix the little lag i have.
how long can i have it overclocked for?

[Q] Comparable kernel (skyrocket noob here)

Hey peeps. Needing some help. My buddy moved to California and I rooted his phone about 6 months ago. It has an old version of AOKP if I remember correctly. I'm going to walk him through flashing the new ma7 radio and embryo 6 rom. As I am not familiar with his phone as much, is there a kernel similar to Perseus (a Note 2 and GS3 kernel)? He is having lots of weird phone issues that I think are a combo of him not familiar with AOKP and a buggy rom. I want to get him back to a TW with power, speed, and battery. From what I could tell the uxma7 radio and embryo 6 would do it. Just looking for a kernel recommendation since I won't be around the phone.
Thanks.
for embryo you need a TW based kernel. so stock TW kernel or mohan's Cymbaline kernel are what your looking for.
See the Embryo ROM 6.6 (the newest one) ... Download that , copy it to phone sd card and flash it (see the instructions there in the thread) .. Don't mess with kernels , the embryo rom already has what works with it ...

mohan made the cymballine kernel from TW source kernel to work with his embryo rom. i definitely would check it out. tweaked kernels are just as awesome as the custom roms themselves.
Thanks for the help! I got him up and running. His phone is running a lot better now along with better battery. I set him up on the pegasusq governor and stock clock speeds. It'll take him a bit to get use to TW again though.
