[Q] samsung conquer 4g root help - General Questions and Answers

I was trying to root my brothers phone and i made a mistake.
I was on odin starting root the process by installing the FC17 update and having the phone in download mode.
When i clicked start on odin i thought the phone was supposed to go from download mode
to installing the fc17 update, but when the phone turned on and it acted normal i thought something was wrong.
When i looked on odin's message box it said something about the connection being void until something happened
(i cant really remember what it said) so i decided to unplug the phone.
After i unplugged the phone i decided to restart the rooting process.
This time the download mode screen was different and had a warning about installing a custom OS, but i just ignored it.
The problem is this time around odin wasn't recognizing my bro's phone and i don't know what the issue is.
I installed the phone's drivers and the usb ports are fine. I also tried this on a different computer but it didnt work on that one either
so i figured the problem is that something messed up when i unplugged the phone. Odin now doesn't recognize the phone when its in download mode and i need help.

Lol at Kies

So I plugged my captivate into my computer the other day to check for firmware updates. It said I had to do an emergency firmware recovery. So I thought "fine, whatever" my phone was working fine as is but I did it anyways. When I plugged it in I noticed the steps and it was similar to when upgrading my firmware to 2.2 through Kies so I threw my phone into download mode and plugged it in and it started doing its thing.
The part I found funny was in the steps it said to put the phone into recovery mode actually instead of download mode. Which is making me think is what they ment for me to do since its what worked when I first upgraded and its what ended up working in the end.
P.S What would cause my phone to need to do a emergency firmware recovery? Would it be that I was just flashing firmwares a lot recently?

Question regarding odin (solved)

Ok I have looked at thread after thread and saw some similar issues but no real solution that has worked for me. Long story short, my brother tried updating his SGS4G and "says" the cable came out during update. Basically phone was stuck in communication with pc screen. After tons of trial and error button combos, jig, etc. I was about to give up as I couldn't get it into download mode. Well got bored so tried again and somehow got Odin to recognize the phone and started to flash the K1. Unfortunately, it failed before completing and now I can get the phone into DL mode but Odin nor the PC will recognize it. It sort of boot loops a couple times then loads up to home screen for a few seconds during media scanning then trips right back to Galaxy S 4g screen and starts the boot loop deal over again. I was able to check before it cut off and it has unknown baseband. Is there any other way to get Odin to recognize while in download? I have done all the steps then plug in phone etc. Odin just sits there and PC said usb not recognized. Tried 3 different PCs with XP, Linux, and Win 7. Is the baseband the issue for getting it recognized now? If I can ever get Odin to recognize I was hoping to manage a full backup to stock and then worry about the baseband issues but for now I am stuck and would have pulled all my hair out by now but I am bald. Any advice or pointing in the right direction would be great.
Edit: Thanks for the help. After tons of attempts I got Heimdall to recognize and got it flashed back to stock.. Still isn't recognizing all the time but hopefully it will enough to allow me to root it before I give it back to him. Thanks again I read and read and tried all sorts of stuff multiple times.
If you can get into download mode. Just start ODIN whether it recognizes phone or not and see what happens. And double check your settings are correct in ODIN. Make sure u have latest version as well. Or try Heimdall.
EDIT: Go ahead and tell us whether you were on FROYO or GB. And why were you flashing K1? And what is K1? KC1?
Are you using FB's GB Ext4 Starter Pack?
Odin can sometimes be a pain. If the computer gives you the "un recognized device" keep trying. Tried different cable and USB port and reinstalling drives and such? Lots of others have had luck using the one click.. Heimdel package. But, I'm an Odin fan... If you get any sign of life from PC while it loops, that's a start.
if you have adb loaded, have you tired to spam the reboot download command while the phone loops?? Its another way to see if it does/can get into download mode..
Did you get it working? If so mark the the title [SOLVED].

Help Just Soft Bricked New Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G SGH-T769

I followed this links w.mobilescommunity.com/android-tips-tutorial/208463-how-root-samsung-galaxy-s-blaze-4g.html instructions to a "T" and when the phone came back on it stops at the welcome screen no matter what. I tried to install ClockworkMod Recovery per these instructions /theunlockr.com/2012/04/17/how-to-root-and-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-samsung-galaxy-blaze-4g/ and it seemed to work as I get the OMR mode when I try to get the download screen without having it already cable connected to the PC. When I have it connected to the PC I am able to get to the "Download" mode. OI! I never have had a problem rooting before. The stock OS ICS 4.0.4 was on it and I bought it new from T-Mobile and then it did the OTA update a week ago. I have had nothing on it other than stock and a few camera apps. I have already tried to return it to OEM with the OMR recovery but its still the same, always booting to the welcome screen. When I try to get it into a mode, ether the recovery mode or the download mode, it sometimes vibrates several times and then "May" go into one or the other depending if its cable tethered or not. HELP PLEASE, I disabled and this is my only outside contact short of coming into town to use the Internet at a cafe. Thanks, Jeff

[Q] Hard bricked phone to the point of no return...Even kies wont recognize...help!!

Hey guys so my phones kernel and stuff was slightly messed up I know this because wifi didn't always work and it wouldn't work at certain places and if I reset the phones settings or factory the wifi would show up. I then thought hey I need wifi so let me put a custom mod on it. I have rooted my phone easy but never put a custom mod.. I still dont know what it does or what a custom recovery is or whatever. I tried odin and it said failed a bunch of times. I then started trying to use apps like goo manager and busy box and such and had no idea what i was doing other than following instructions blindly and I ended up using an app that was glitched I believe and when ever I started the phone it went into recovery mode. Then I stopped using the phone for a quite a while and one of my friends said he could look at it and determined that it is screwed to the point of no return. So I thought why not go for one last swing at it did some more Youtbing and did another tutorial another tarp or md5 file or whatever it is. I now have that screen which says connect to Kies for emergency firmware recovery or something. I can still access download mode and such but the main problem is 1. odin is still not working 2. Kies is now not recognizing my S4 keeps telling me it doesnt recognize it. I have a Samsung S4 verizon build number is 2g6 I believe I know the ending is 6. Its curruntly on 4.4.2 kit kat.
TLDR: The phone says that i need to hook it up to kies for emergency firmare something but kies wont recognize my phone and I cant do a hard reset and When I flash with Odin it always says Fail when it gets to the boot part
Thanks so much guys you dont know how much any help would be. Please respond this is all I will be doing all day so I can give you all extra info asap.

Help! my sm-n915t bricked

Hello all,
I have flashed ROMs via recovery and Odin plenty of times. I would say I generally know what I am doing and I flash ROMs on the regular. This is my third Samsung device and have been rooting/flashing for almost 3 years, so not a noob. And this is the first time I encounter problem with my phone while flashing ROM.
I was stuck in a bootloop on my Note and it wouldn't even let me boot into recovery, so I decided to Odin and back to stock and try again... I got the one-click, phone recognized, yellow COM box popped up, hit start, walked away for 10-15 minutes. Come back and there has barely been any progress at all... I could barely see the green progress bar. I figured something is wrong because I've done this before and it only takes a minute at most. What I did next is what I think messed me up...I pulled my phone and closed the Odin dialogue box and tried to redo it. Problem is, nothing I could do would get me the Yellow COM box. The phone goes into download mode but Odin doesn't seem to want to recognize it. I've tried EVERYTHING. When I boot the phone normally, I get the Samsung error screen saying there was an issue with a firmware upgrade and I should try Kies. I download Kies and attempt to upgrade firmware but my phone still not recognized. I already tried it to other PC still the same result.
I can't post the pic of my phone.
Is there nothing I can do to restore it?:crying::crying:

You sound like you have a problem similar to what I had.
I was downloading 6.01 to install using KIES 3 and got no recognition from my Windows 7 based computer when I connected up and ran KIES.
I had the Sammy 1.55.5 USB drivers installed.
What I did it was use KIES,not KIES 3.
Samsung says KIES 3 but that turned out to be wrong in my case, although I'm not sure why?
I'm now running M/M and happily gutting the bloat out of it.
It feels better than new now!
Solved
Anyway, I already solved it!
