When charging not rebooting means... Battery pins are not tightly connected.
Try this solution

You've tried the solution already
Now the battery pins are pretty tight and making proper contact?
Then mostly it's battery proper try another battery if you got one.. Or else get a new one (anker 1900mah preferably)

Today when I connected the charger to my R it played a notification sound which is played when one connects it to a power source but then within a matter of 5 - 10 secs again it played that sound.
After that within a few mins when I left it to fully charge from 90 % it misreported me that its fully charged to 100% with a notification in the status bar which was not possible as it couldn't charge 10 percent in 5 - 7 mins. So I disconnected it and reconnected it after a few secs to find that its still charging from 90 %.
It also restarted during a call after all this.
Current conditions: I am on Indian stock kernel & ROM cause my PC has been given for repairs.
What could be the cause of the problem that I'm currently facing ?
Possible causes I could think of:
- The USB socket's soldering on the motherboard could have given way & may be loose.
- The charging circuit of my motherboard could be acting up due to unknown reasons.
Q.1 Has anyone of you faced similar issue in the past ?
Q.2 What do you think could be the cause of the problem ?
Kindly help me determine the problem as the only other option would be taking it to the SSC for a checkup.
i also faced this problem but very rare, it will show 100% once i remove the charger it will show 90%, i will reboot it and after reboot again it will start charging...
I had the same problem last week. I took it to ssc. They called it a firmware problem as always :what: but then they replaced the battery. Now I don't have that problem but my battery backup sucks now.

You should go back and ask for a new battery and tell them that this one doesn't hold the charge.
BTW in your case did the charger disconnect itself without any user input when connected to the usb port and then again without any input reconnects itself ?

yes its one of their standard procedure
if u claim about battery life first they will flash stock fw and if u still keep complaining about battery they will give u new battery. in my friends gs2 they replaced battery for 2 times yet he faced probs with battery backup so at last ssc replaced his whole motherboard

@cooleagle, 90% prob could be software related. but as u said drop of charger connection seems hardware issue, check ur charger's micro usb plug is it loose or damaged?
once this happened with me i kept my charger in bag and somehow in bag charger's micro usb plug got broken from inside and then whenever i connected my phone it was giving prob of dropping connection like u said, first i thought there is prob with phone but when i examined charger i found out plug was loose and it was giving me probs.

u can backup games file data by copying ur whole internal storage but to backup scores and progress u have backup system folder's data and it probably needs root, btw u can backup ur whole phone with cwm but u will have to do flashing on ur phone

In my case, I would put on phone on charging around 30% and after 10 min, it would show 100% done. When I disconnect charger, it would show anything like 82%, then after reboot, it would show 5% and after taking out battery and putting again, it would be back to 30-35% and then charge normally. This disconnection thing you are talking about happened with usb charging not normal charging.

My problem got resolved when I cleaned the USB port with a cleaning solution used to clean electronic boards. If you are on stock ROM & have not rooted your handset then take it to the Service center as your USB charging port could be non-functional / damaged.
But if you're rooted then clear your counter & flash the Indian 2.3.5 stock ROM before going to the service center.
Do update here when the problem is resolved.
Hope this helps.
Searched all over but never came across a similar issue posted anywhere.
When I connect the charger while the phone is on... it "shows charging". But is does charge "real slow" .
Then when I "take off the charger" , It "still shows charging"(lightning sign).
After I "reboot" to get rid of that , it boots up with red "Low battery". But it doesn't turn off for a while ,which hints the battery itself has no issue.
Whereas when I connect in and then disconnect the USB from my "PC" , it still indicates the USB connected sign.
When charging while the phone is "off", it shows charging (with the large battery sign) but the charged level keeps @ 0%.
PS: If I keep the phone turned off while the battery is inside for 2,3 days.. the batteries drain without any clue , the phone won't turn on.
Tried all factory reset & calibrating stuff , I start to wonder if this is an issue with my USB port or the battery connectors. I might be needing experts help ..Please help
[I do not hv any warranty left for this]
Maybe you need to try a new battery. That's all.

Yeah thnx bud, I could try that If I know for certain . Else it would be a waste.
What worries me is the issue with the "USB connection to PC". Which has nothing to with the battery circuit.
Have you tried another cable?

The issue seems to be probably with either the USB cable or the port.try another cable to be sure..

Discharge while off sounds like a bad battery. Does it lose charge if you charge it and take it out of the phone?

Tried that , when I take it out and keep ,the charge stays perfect. That's why I'm guessing the battery is ok .

Yeah tried another cable . Made no difference . I think I should try replacing the port . Hope that's not very expensive .
Updates for my problem, (still no clue though).
I messed up with some MOTOMIZER app and happend to change the dalvik heap size to default(don't remember the value) . Just after this the phone boots only up to "Rethink possible" screen.
It won't let me flash via fast boot , "battery low cannot program" comes up.
Then I bought an external charger and a 3rd party battery . Fully charged the battery via the ext; charger and went to fast boot. No surprises , "battery low cannot program" came up again.
It seems the phone does not recognize the full voltage of the battery , even it's fully charged.
Now If anyone with some clue, pls help me out here.
I would suggest flashing with a factory cable. With it you pull the battery and the cable powers the phone so you can flash. I have one and it's been very handy. Give me a little while and I'll post a couple of links. You can make your own or buy one from xda member sKoRpn for like $10 shipped in the U.S. if you dont want to wait on me jump over to the kindlefire general forum.

Nice..Really appreciate man. I really didn't know about these factory cables. But just now I did my research.
Then again I doubt whether my phone recognizes the voltage. Anyways , definitely worth a shot.
I found some cables for sale. There are not recommended specially for Atrix2 but for Kindle Fire , Atrix , Droid Razr etc . Will those be compatible with A2 ??
Yeah man, It works on all moto phones and the kf. Really useful when you don't have a full charge on the phone.

Sounds to me like you need to get a replacement phone via warranty. Possibly the battery too. If you are with AT&T call the warranty department. If not, then call motorola and try and use their 1 year warranty to get this fixed.
My boyfriend has a straight talk phone. A Samsung precedent. Recently it has been acting quite strange. It was sitting on the desk.. Unplugged.. Battery was about 80% charged.. & suddenly it started beeping like it does when I plug the charger into it.. &,the phone was saying it was charging.. Yet it was not plugged into anything at all.. It does this at random times..
I take out battery.. Put it back in.. Then the battery icon comes up.. I plug the charger in & try to turn it on.. & it won't turn on sometimes.. Eventually it does..
But what's with the phone thinking it's charging when it isn't??
Any help would be appreciated!!

clean your USB slot/charging port, colud be due to moisture shorting the contacts
When I charge my Miro for a very short time like (5-15 percent) my phone won't react to charger at all for 1-2 days, after that everything is ok.
When I charge it from 1-100 percent everything is ok.
That is problem to me for CWM because it needs to be connected to charger.
I am afraid to flash FXP because of that, maybe I need warranty.
Does anyone have those issues?
EDIT: That is why I wasn't trying out my MIUI releases.
Tried repair with pc companion? Reflashed with ftf? That should rule out software problem..
Sent from my ST27i
Yes...:\ Is it software?
So after you charge for short period and stop, it doesn't detect charger for 2 days ( offline charging only? ) but everything else works fine, and after 2 days it recognises charger?
if you tried repairing, its possibly hardware. Try replacing battery with a friend's phone? Maybe battery defect?

No, after that my computer does not recongnise usb at all and my phone does not recongnise charger (both online and offline).
And sometimes it recongnises charger and says "charging" but not charging at all (goes down a bit) or stays the same. After 2 days everything is back to normal :\
And I do not think it is contact...
EDIT: Now it works, again. Must take it to service. But I must do flashtool to delete root and CWM first xD

I had the same problem few days ago. Could you tell me did you find out what was the problem? So that I could fix it next time it happens to me.
Yes. You need to take it to the service. The problem is in the USB (charging) cable.
I did that, they gave me a new cable and problem fixed!

Thank you!
I really don't know what's causing this but I've had a weird battery issue. For some reason it won't charge. I charged it and the battery only kept going down. I rebooted and the same thing happened. I flashed the rom again but this time it shows the charging status for a second and just stops the next :/ Is this a hardware issue? I was on DJL's Cm10 rom when it happened and I haven't tinkered with it or anything.

@HolyGhostBoy1 Yea, it doesn't even have to look funny to be dead though.
@CaffineGiant Batteries are cheap (compared to getting a new phone). Go get one, give it a shot. If it works, great, problem solved. If not, lets come back to this thread and get some more info about your phone.
