Hi,
Let me tell first introduce my phone to you. It's an HTC One S T-mobile version US.
The thing is is that I wanted to get JB on my phone, but couldn't keep waiting for the OTA. So I decided to root my device.
Here's what I did :
- unlock bootloader & root (still S-ON)
- changed the CID to HTC_203 (to get an OTA, stupid move from me)
- downloaded the JB ROM (Trickdroid V 9.1.0)
but I accidently removed the backup of the stock ROM of my device (which now doesn't have a TMOUS010 CID or something like that).
I then flashed the Trickdroid ROM (V 9.1.0) but had wifi issues as my hboot wasn't appropriate for this update. I could only flash the
Trickdroid ROM V7 for T-mobile versions of the HTC One S.
And now that the JB OTA update is available for T-mobile, I would like to install it on my device but I can't.
I have tried to install with the RUU but to no avail (I think that it might be because I changed the CID).
I have even downloaded the T-mobile JB zip file ROM but it isn't like the common ROMs, i.e. the zip file (let's call it zip file A) contains :
FOLDERS : META-INF
system
firmware (a compressed folder - in which the boot image is found I guess) (let's call this one zip file B)
FILES : fotaBoot
skin_fota
I have tried to install it using TWRP by flashing zip file A, but in vain. I have even tried to extract the folder so that I could flash zip file B,
but to no avail either. I couldn't found the usual boot.img file.
And now I am back to square one, as I am waiting for Trickdroid to bake into the official T-mobile JB ROM.
CONCLUSION :
I would like to install the T-mobile JB update on my device (which is indeed a T-mobile version). Did I mention that I live in France ? Does
this change anything in my case ?
Can anyone please help me ? I spend all of my free time looking for a solution on Google, but I haven't found anything yet.

id say SuperCID your phone then S-OFF once your s off when in fastboot do the comand "fastboot oem writecid TMOUS010" this will bring you back to your old cid BUT id recommend doing "fastboot oem writecid HTC__001" as this is basically for unlocked phones and if you stay supercid DO NOT TAKE THE OTA JB UPDATE YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE !!!!!!
superCID (11111111)
and because your s off you can run any RUU id recommend running the latest unbranded RUU as that will have JB
that my advice ive got a similair sitution to you apart from i want to stay rooted
dont forgot to use the thanks button if i helped :0

whats your hboot version? (check in bootloader)
already changed the cid back?
you know there is a tmous ruu that contains the latest jb update??
http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...531-10305008l-release-309489-signed-ics-2exe/
you have to flash firmware.zip from fastboot.
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot oem boot
Whenever you have wifi problems on sense ROMs, flash the attached zip and voila. You can use any rom now, not specifically T-mobile one.
I own a same t-mobile one.

Hello,
I just recently got my Nexus S and now I want to Update it manually to 4.0.3.
It came with Gingerbread 2.3.3 and now I have some questions about this whole process.
1.Is it possible to directly upgrade from 2.3.3 to 4.0.3?
2. Of course I'm not that lazy and I found the files needed around here, but I still have some questions about it.
I found these files:
Code:
Android 4.0.3/IML74K/XXKI1 Radio/KL1 Bootloader
Official, signed, can flash with ClockworkMod or stock recovery. Contains recovery, radio and bootloader.
What exactly mean these words in relation to Android: "Recovery, Radio and Bootloader"?
Thank you!
hi!
i have the exact same phone as you (i9023 2.3.3) and used the stickied all official OTA flashable updates. my build number was GRI54. scroll down in that thread and u will see i9023 2.3.3. (GRI54) -> 4.0.3. i flashed this with custom recovery.
also keep in mind that for our lcd version.. there are troubles accessing the ics stock recovery as it wouldnt show up on lcd. only for amoled..
u can follow my guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20900004#post20900004 to gain root and install clockworkmod recovery to solve this
There are two ways for you to upgrade manually. The first is to get the 2.3.3 to 4.0.3 update, and the second is to remove 2.3.3 and install 4.0.3 in its entirety. You won't need an unlocked bootloader or root to do these. Fairly straight forward.
As for the second question, it tells you what partitions are included. That file will replace the current partition. Radio is for the GSM radio (or cdma for 4g) to get your carriers reception, bootloader includes the main booting files and recovery is the recovery menu where you'll be flashing pics from.
I've also bought a Nexus S recently (on 30th december) and it also came with 2.3.3. What I did was to unlock the bootloader and then via fastboot I flashed clockworkmod 5. Then I flashed via CWM the 4.0.3 update. AFAIK you can do the update without custom recovery but on i9023 the stock recovery doesn't show up.
That's right blackdeath, but it only doesn't show up once you've flashed 4.0.3. So you can see it fine while you're currently on the 2.x.x bootloader.
What's the difference between these 2 files (ICS stock): ZD3PyN0t.zip & VQ8PQk_V.zip ?

Z...zip is the full ROM package whilst VQ...zip is the OTA for 2.3.6.

Thanks! But what would be the difference exactly?
If properly applied: in the end = nothing, both will give u 4.0.3
One (full rom) just is applicable from everywhere and does a full clean install (i.e removes everything than puts 4.0.3 in place)
The second (V..) is the update from 2.3.6, meaning ONLY applicable from 2.3.6 and just updates the OS. (basicly modifies the existing OS)
Basicly the V... is what you'd expect to get over the air.
but only apply it from 2.3.6! (you'll need to apply the incremental updates to 2.3.6 first)

Thank you very much!
Allright, thank you for the replies, I feel much safer now!
(It really annoys me that I didn't knew that Radio can mean Carrier-Information/Software)
I knew that the recovery in 4.0.3 does not SEEM to work because actually just the LCD backlight does not turn on so if you use a flashlight in the right angle you should be able to see the recovery menu.
(Couldn't confirm yet but read it quite a lot.)
Well I guess ICS + Clockwork it is then. Wish me luck.
EDIT: Well this was easier than expected, actuallly easier than flashing a PSP. Im already on ICS now I just need to follow the root/recovery guide by cspader. Thank you.
After much-to-do following the current 1.85 rooting method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709296) I finally have root. I would like to update to 4.0.4, but am not sure how to do so without losing root/losing 1.85.
A quick nudge in the correct direction would be great, thanks!
Unlock bootloader, install TWRP. Then pick the ROM of your choice from Development. There are stock, but pre-rooted versions of 2.20 and later ones too (2.23, 2.29, etc.) Or flash a custom ROM based on one of the newer firmware versions.
Everything you need can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Don't accept any OTA or run the 2.20 RUU. Either will replace your hboot and render your phone (for now) unrootable.

Fantastic, thanks. Yeah my previous One X was bootloader unlocked but got a warranty replacement this past week. It has been so long that I can't remember the process I used to unlock it, and didn't know if it still applied.
Where can I get a list of all the boot.img available? I need to flash the 2.29 one, apparently, before the latest CleanROM because I am getting a boot loop when using the boot.img the installer uses.

An updated list of kernels doesn't exists, that I know of. Scrosler stared this, but hasn't updated it past 1.88.
Try flashing the 2.29 stock rooted ROM. That will get you on the 2.29 boot.img. I'm surprised that installing CleanROM is giving you trouble, although I personally haven't played with CleanROM 4.5 yet. You did a full wipe before flashing (data, cache, Dalvik, system)?

Wierd thing.
I am on Extreme Sensation Dreamâ„¢X2 and today i got a (i think) an official ota update.
The filename: OTA_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.33.401.6-3.32.401.5_R_release_266230n9ouzm6y7ls02drn.zip
But as i am HTC dev unlocked i can't install this because i can't flash firmware/radio.
Am i right ?
1. Dont double post
2. I've answered this in the ROM thread (where you originally posted this)
3. The fact that you are HTC DEV unlocked doesnt make any difference when installing OTA updates, what makes the difference is you cant install HTC's OTA files on a custom ROM
Hi am having a problem after going back to telstra stock after being on rohans JB build 3. It was really bad at connecting on LTE so I wanted to go back to stock where I have less problems. So now the 4.0.4 OTA update is available which fixes the one of the main reasons I found a ROM, that stupid settings bar.
However when I reboot to install the OTA it just boots into TWRP (v 2.2.2). I cant manually apply update from within recovery. It just gives an error. If I reboot from recovery nothing is applied.
Android v 4.0.3, software version 1.89.841.9
Do I have to get rid off TWRP or find a RUU and and apply that image? Was there some boot locking thing I need to do through abd to get the OTA to work?

Pretty sure you have to relock your bootloader and run an RUU to get your phone to true stock. Then OTA. Although, if the RUU was based off 4.0.4 you wouldn't have to OTA. You can always re-ulock your phone after an RUU as long as you have your unlock token and/or super CID.
Did you just flash a stock ROM?
Also, pretty sure there are 4.0.4 stock ROMs out there that you could flash so you wouldn't have to relock your phone.

Thanks I restored a backup I made before flashing the ROM. Might try and find another ROM to see how 4G goes.
Fixing a connectivity issue on one custom ROM is not a good reason to go stock. I think the OTA needs stock recovery, so that is why you are getting stuck at recovery. Even if it works, you lose root. Its a step backwards, so why would you want to do that?
Just flash a ROM based on 4.0.4 from Development. You can pick a custom ROM, or a stock rooted one (safe to flash from TWRP), if you want stock.
If you are rooted, don't install a OTA or run RUU (unless you are trying to fix a soft brick). Good rule for any Android device.
Hey Guys
I've not been around the Android scene for a while, and I've got a HTC One Mini that's been rooted and a custom ROM on it.
Just wondering what steps I'd need to upgrade to Sense 6.0. UK Vodafone, currently on 4.4.3 rooted, but when I open SuperSU it tells me I need to manually re-root. Bootloader shows as tampered.
I've tried reading through the forum, but the information is overwhelming and I'm getting confused as to what I need to do.
Many thanks,
Adam
I'm in a same situation. The problem is there is no european ruu available to restore the HTC one mini. I currently use stock sense 6 Rom but I have a problem which is I get an error each time I try installing a paid app from Google play.
Sent from my HTC One mini using XDA Free mobile app
please move this thread to General.. this thread for development..
Wouldn't it be possible to use the US RUU and then update with an European OTA file through stock recovery?
Why you cant just flash this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...-official-stock-sense-6-rom-firmware-t2817921
It is extracted from OTA to flash via custom recovery.

Obviously, he's looking for a way to return to absolute stock so he can keep his warranty in effect.
