Screenshot or it didn't happen.
Amazon has instituted the Adobe DRM & also added Silverlight as a requirement for streaming. This is to prevent work-arounds & currently (for the last several months) Amazon Videos will NOT work on Android phones or tablets period. There are a few browsers the do server-side rendering & it will sort-of work on those, but the quality is crap & the lag/stutter is unbearable.
Amazon's stance is that you either need to buy a crappy Kindle, or wait for them to finish extorting licensing fees from Google, the OEM's & your carrier. There have been numerous threads about this issue, which affects many platforms, all over the web.
Amazon instant video is working on my S3. I have Adobe Flash Version 11.1.115.20. It is working through my stock browser.

Amazon video on 10.1
Ok, here's a screenshot. It wont play movies marked HD, but has played everything I've wanted to watch. I'm not that concerned about hd. As long as I can watch the video, I'm good.
The video looks better than the snap shot I took. I saved it in a lower resolution.

I posted a screenshot per your request re the Amazon video.

Works for me on the Note 10.1 with Flash Player installed and Dolphin Browser. It seems a bit smoother than using the stock browser.
I'm able to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the stock browser, but as you can see, the quality isn't all that good. I don't mind though because it's not that bad, either. I attached my own screenshot in case you wanted another example of the video quality.

Install the .63 flash from the Adobe Android Flash Archive. They fixed the DRM issue several weeks ago. With AOSP browser, you can even watch HD in desktop mode.
Or install from here.
Working just fine on stock browser in full screen mode.

Everything seems to work till you go to watch the movie then it will only play for 8sec thru the app. At least I can finish watching the movie thru the TF's browser.
So you can watch the movie in the browser? 720p?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Yes sir. I launched the app, clicked on the video which launched the browser to make the purchase. I ordered the movie, clicked play and it asked me to play back thru the app or the browser. I tried the app and it would only play 8sec then stop. I went back to the browser and this time when it asked me to choose I picked the browser and it worked fine. Yes, in 720p
EDIT: Forgot to mention I was getting an message in the app player something about my rental had expired.
Also, it gives you the ability to display personal videos on a youtube style video wall. Now just gotta figure out how to make cover art show up, instead of the video snippet it uses. This is what I was coming on the boards tonight to actually inquire about - How to show movies with cover art from a screen I could choose from. Problem solved!

What's up, neighbor in Orlando? I am in Vero Beach...
Super simple...for your 3G (NOT a 3GS, right?) you'll need to jailbreak it and find an app in Cydia called 'MyWi' or 'PDANet'. Both of these will allow you to both tether with the USB cable as well as via wifi and bluetooth. If you have a 3GS, and you happen to be running iOS 4.x, you can download a tweak called 'TetherMe' which enables the native hotspot tethering in iOS4. Good luck...PM me with any questions.

OK so were you on home wifi or 3g when you did this. And how come you were only able to play the movie in 480p. Were you playing it in 480p in the browser or in the app?
Thanks for trying to out
I was at home on my wifi. I played it thru the browser. Paying it thru the app only played it for about a minute. Don't know why it only allowed 480p but it only allow that on my google tv too.

hmmm the rite is a fairly new movie. Maybe it has something to do with the fact it was playing on the web and not on the app. Although that's odd because on YouTube when a video is HD it plays 720. Oh well thanks for answering the posts. Hopefully Google will release the in app video update soon.
I recently pulled the Wired Magazine .apk from a cousin's Kindle Fire, and have found that it works well on the Nexus 7, and presumably other tablets. The current version is ̶2̶.̶7̶.̶0̶.̶1̶1̶.̶6̶0̶2̶0̶1̶ 2.9, and the only downside is that it seems like the magazine itself does not fill the entire screen while in viewing mode.
Some prerequisites:
-both Adobe Air and the Amazon Appstore must be installed (you must be logged in, too) for the app to function
-if you have an ad blocker installed, you must add any any websites that include adobe to your whitelist. Mine included "broker.adobe.com" and "stats.adobe.com". This might not be necessarily, but it is a good precaution. If you ignore this and the app crashes, uninstall it and add them.
Just install the app normally after checking the first two things. Also, you must have already purchased the magazines (at least in my testing). If you have a print subscription, I would advise creating your account on a computer, not in the app.

Thanks! Works great on my N73G.
Just wanted to say thanks. I also have the problem of the app not filling the screen on the Nexus 7. Funny that it (presumably) works on the Kindle Fire HD, which is the same resolution.

The Kindle Fire HD is the same screen resolution, but the regular Kindle Fire is not. It's 1024x600 vs 1280x800, a short coming of ~200 pixels in each direction. This could explain the black edges. Maybe it defaults to the 1024x600 resolution unless it sees some indication of being on a Fire HD (ie: build.prop or other file). If so, I imagine there could be a fix for this to mimic the HD and get the full resolution.
OR, Wired could just release the damn app for all Android platforms. :silly:

I think you're right, but I unfortunately don't have access to a Fire HD. I think they use different versions on each different model, so that might be why. That is a complete guess, through.

Yeah, F* that. Wired will give a free interactive digital issue to iPad and Kindle owners, but charge existing subscribers extra for some crappy PDF version that I could download for free from a number of places.
If Wired doesn't change it's tune, I'm planning on cancelling once my current subscription is over - just on principle.

I used to get this error on my Nook Color but was able to successfully ignore it. Make sure you have the Amazon App store installed, logged in and updated. I think you also need Adobe Air. If you haven't already, "purchase" the Wired app in the Amazon app store via the web. It won't let you download the app and will say your device isn't compatible, but maybe it will get rid of the ownership message. I'm guessing here, so no promises this will fix anything.
Still not working on my n7. I've gotten it to work on my cm7 nook color, but I've tried everything on my n7. I've even re-installed the amazon app store and adobe air. I've also tried the previous version of the wired magazine apk. I get everything to install and open normally, I just can't log in to download my subscriptions. Anyone have any other suggestions?
The messed up thing about this is that it was a wired article that I was reading on my nook color that made me want to upgrade to the n7.

Make sure you disable any ad blocking software or changes made to your hosts file to block ads. This prevents you from logging in to the app.
Thanks, but I'm not running any ad blocking software (unless there's a native app on the n7 that's doing this and I'm not aware of it).

If you have Adobe Air installed, then I don't know what you can do. Try uninstalling Air and the Wired, and then re-install them. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. Wired doesn't offer ANY support so you're just out of luck.
Hoping someone can help. Running paranoid android on a note 2. Installed Adobe air and Amazon AppStore (logged in). I am able to open app, sign in, download, and install an issue...but when I go to view the issue it crashes/force closes.
Any advice?

Google play finally allows you to sign up for free subscriptions using your existing print subscription. As of today, there is no longer a need to do the Wired app dance with Amazon.

If video playback is working on other websites, and reading that error message, then common sense would tell me that ESPN.com has made the conscious decision not to allow their videos to playback on an Android device for whatever reason. Citing that it worked in the past doesn't mean anything because things change.
HULU does the same thing and blocks video content playback on Android.
because some web sites aren't using only flash to broadcast their videos, they are also using html5 with mp4 (i think) the player isn't cool like flash. but it has the basic fonctions.

I have extracted the Amazon Instant Video app from my Google TV device. It opens on the Note 8, you can select videos, but on trying to actually stream the video you selected, it crashes. If there are any talented people on this forum who want to try playing with the .apk file to see if they can fix it, or if there's someone willing to host this file, let me know and I will email it to you.

You would also need to get the Flash enabled version of GTV Chrome working, since that is really what the app relies on.
EDIT: At least that is the case on the Sony NSZ-GT1. If it is different for your device, I'll have a look, but from what research I have done, it is not an easy task & it will involve a few modifications that will not sit well with other apps or the Play Store.
Post it up though, I just got my dev environment setup on my new machine & the missus will be out of town this weekend.
Unfortunately you're right. The Google TV Chrome app will not install on the Note.
There doesn't seem to be a way to post files through the XDA app, but I can email them to whoever wants them.

Well, I have to report that I have had little luck getting this to work on any non-GTV device. I even built an AOSP build with using a GTC boardconfig. No luck.
I am very pissed with Amazon though, so I went & bought a LTE KF HD 8.9 & I am going to play with getting it working on other tablets. Man I hate the Kindle stock experience. Thank goodness for root. I'll let you know if I find a simple way to get it running, but it will take some time as business is wicked crazy right now.
Any luck?

Yes & no. I have firstly been playing with the Nexus 10 & the KF HD 8.9. I was able to finally get AVOD to work on the Nexus 10, BUT, *BUT*, I essentially had toport the entire KF rom to the Nexus 10. It is buggy & there are some graphical & resolution issues, but it worked.
The only other instance I have found was also similar. A guy got it working on a Galaxy Tab, essentially doing the same thing, porting the whole KF rom.
You could of course use a different launcher, but it is still ICS, 4.0.3, & aside from losing a lot of the N10 cool features, it really is far from stable. I don't have a lot of time for this stuff at the moment, work is crazy busy these days. At any rate, I am going to see if I can try to go about it the other way & try to port some of the KF framework & core apps to JB when I get some time. Right now though, it is a no go.
I'm looking for an app or website that will allow me to stream the World Cup to my phone. I'm running 4.4.3

UK. The official ITV and BBC apps are atrocious. ITV just wants to serve me up about 15mins of ads before allowing me to watch anything. The BBC app is just a joke.
TV catch up, although it was pretty overloaded last world cup. Maybe it's better now though

I've also found http://www.vipboxuk.co/sports/football.html
It requires Flash. which can be had from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/p2tp0h8xy8o7f86/KitKat.Adobe.Flash.Player.11.1.apk
And then install Dolphin Browser, and enable 'Desktop' user agent and 'Web content - Flash Player always on' in the settings.
This is working fine for me.
Someone else also suggest www.tvcatchup.com
Think I'm sorted with a few options now, cheers rootSU
