[Q] cid error even after creating goldcard - HTC Desire S

"RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed" shows customer id error even after creating goldcard. I've tried 3 other RUUs but they all show cid error. I upgraded my phone to ics using "RUU_SAGA_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_14.01.401.2_Radio_20.76.30.0835_3831.19.00.110_release_275068_signed".
I wanted to s-off and for that i needed to downgrade my hboot from 2.00.002 to 0.98.0.000 to be able to use revolutionary. For that, I had to install gb RUU after using zerg_rush, misc version, etc( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399331 ). But I can't install RUU as it shows Customer id error even after creating a goldcard.
Can someone tell me what to do??

Try different sdcard,
are you sure the gold card has been made properly?

i got my gold card from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248095&page=23
and i patched it using goldcardtool.exe
now i've tried 1 another sd card but again i got error 131[cid error]
1 question though. You should just install a RUU after creating a goldcard, right?

You should not forget to relock bootloader before flashing RUU
What version have you changed, the one on your device'to?
Perhaps you might push < misc_version > once again,
and change it to the version of RUU you intend to flash..
if that wouldn't help, I'd try to create a gold card from a different source...
There is even on the market, an app called < gold card helper >, 4
The whole procedure has been checked and sucessfuly acomplished by the users,
probably hundreds of thousands of times,
so, it realy is working,
it is just one of the components you've prepeared that is failing ( probably )..
If your device was rooted, zerg rush is not needed

Upgrade your 32A (any version) to Official TW Sense ROM

it's simple, make a goldcard, go to the flashboot mode, and start the flash with the RUU, that's all
goldcard will ignore the CID, so no more 131 CID error anymore.
the update has nothing to do with the version of SPL or RADIO, its only a matter of CID.
good luck

It does work! maybe your gold card is not OK
Maybe some more instructions ? How to get "goldcard" and what shall we all do to get it wok on our 32A`s
Goldcard is microSD card that have special code in it. This code is recognised by the phone and the phone disables every security lock it haves thus allowing the user to load any rom in it! It can be dangerous and you can brick the device if you use wrong rom! But in my case, I restored my device!
I have test many cards, change the code, but nothing still not work, i fallow this how-to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683

Hello, so you've done this then? Did it change your SPL and radio afterwards? Thinking about doing this to my 32a for the bluetooth+GPS, but I want to keep my SPL. TIA
The method need a premise!
Please make sure that your spl is S-OFF !Cause S-ON makes you cannot flash rom at the fastboot mode!

Not needed! My SPL was and still is S=ON! I flashed the device with my goldcard without any problems!
This method WILL flash both SPL and Radio roms! It will flash everithing! Even the splash screen is HAMI now!
for those who didn't make it.
check ur goldcard if it's REALLY successfully made. I made servals goldcards which can be read on my computer, but they cant be read by G2, that's the problem
I've made the goldcard and I have the RUU downloaded...but before I go and risk bricking my phone, is there anyway to make sure the gold card is working?
plug ur goldcard back to ur magic to see if its regonized, if it appears damaged, means thats not successful.
I tried making a goldcard last night but gave up >.< when i try to run
"adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid" from cmd it gives me "error: device not found"
I fixed that by going into usb mode on the phone and restarting cmd and adb, but ended up failing with custom ID error even with goldcard
Well the phone saw the card, of course it was empty. But it still didn't work, I tried the RUU and watching the phone everything it attempted to update failed. Luckily nothing was changed so the phone is still in working order.
I tried 2 SD cards to be goldcard and both get custom ID error, can't think of what else to do, or why to even bother when caSense rom is so good
Now my phone is RUU mode , don´t now who to resolve this problem .
how to make S-OFF then? I've followed the goldrom guide twice and still no luck! Also all the links to Haykuro's magic rootme rom are broken (tried to root to get s-off)

Goldcard on Magic - is there any difference to Hero?

I'm stuck in the middle of a failed ROM upgrade on a Magic 32a.
I can successfully follow the common goldcard creation tutorial (theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/) but when I put it on my phone which is stuck in RUU, and take out then put the battery back in, my Magic still goes to RUU. I've tried this on two cards, one SanDisk and one generic.
Will a goldcard work with a phone that's stuck in RUU? Do SanDisk MicroSD's work? Why does a goldcard need the CID of a MicroSD card to be reversed for it to work?
Could someone please provide me with direction on this?
Thanks,
USDan
EDIT: I just noticed this is in Developers. I apologize - I've posted in the wrong section. Could someone please move this post to General Discussion?

After taking out battery and placing in, you must run RUU again and proceed flashing process with goldcard. After success of flash you will get working system (if goldcard was created properly)

It's internal HTC algorythm. They're applying it on most own models.
Just FYI based on my own experience.
I attempted to create a goldcard on a Vista machine and it would fail everytime.
I then tried it on a Windows XP machine and it worked the first time.
Not sure why there is a difference but in my case there was.

goldcard for htc desire z

am i the only one having a problem making a goldcard?
i've seached several threads here and several external links to how to make a goldcard all with slight variations but still cant get it to work.
i have used both a kingston mirco sd and a sandisk mirco sd to no avail..
i have tried using mmc0, mmc1(well mmc1 wasnt available) and mmc2, i copied out the numbers from the CMD, reversed them manually, replaced the first two-digits with '00', got the image from the website and did the hex editor thingy and confirmed it worked by removing it and putting it back into computer and phone without any error prompt to format, but still i cant get the downgrade to work. i always get the 'CID error, update failed' message.
im trying to downgrade my desire z from the OTA 2.3.3 to something that can be rooted following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912, and i was hoping to try out this custom Rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216997 but it seems like my dreams wont come through coz of the goldcard issue.. :-(
we are on the same boat man! hirap amp!
try to ask here...
some already downgraded their units...
soon for my phone but still reading some stuff which rom to use
its so hard to root htc desire always cid installation failed

Revert HTC Desire S to stock

Hi,
I've installed a custom ROM on my HTC Desire S. However, now that I've got a new phone I need to restore the phone back to its orignal state (Gingerbread - UK Orange).
I know this question has been asked before but after reading the other threads I'm still a little unclear on exactly what I need to do.
I'd be greatful if someone could point in the right direction, i.e do I need to use a RUU (whatever that is?) or can I just flash the phone with a stock ROM in the same way that I installed the custom ROM?
Not sure if this is relevant or not, but the revolutionary bootloader shows the following ifnormation:
SAGA PUT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.98.1002
RADIO-3805.06.02.03_M
eMMC-boot
Thanks,
I appreciate any help.
Have a look here androidforums.com/3405058-post1.html at section 2.
Flash hboot 0.98.2000 then install the RUU for your phone.
I suggest you make a gold card just in case you need it down the line.
Make sure you choose the right RUU.
Thanks for your reply.
I've followed your advice and flashed hboot 0.98.2000. This was fine. Also create a gold card as you suggested.
Then, I ran the RUU, but this failed the error:
Code:
ERROR[131] CUSTOMER ID ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
Now, I downloaded the "RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed.exe" as there was no specific Orange UK RUU listed. Was this not correct?
Thanks
Not sure were to get a orange RUU and what version you will need (but am sure someone knows).....
If you are returning to stock for warranty then you will need a orange RUU, if not and just want to get back to stock for well stock sake then insert your gold card and try again, if it fails then you didn't make the card right or used the wrong CID (sometimes it gets the phones internal memory CID), use goldcard helper app to get the right one (mmc2 I think it is)
Even with the goldcard in, the RUU fails. I guess this means you're correct in saying it wasn't correctly created :-( although I did use mmc2 so maybe I did something else wrong.
I'm not returning to stock for warranty reasons, just so I can sell the phone. But either way, I'm not sure how I proceed from here. I would glady use goldcard helper app in order to create a working goldcard but this isn't possible (or is it?) as there's nothing installed on the phone and it just boots to hboot every time.
Is it possible to use revolutionary to re-install a custom hboot and then a custom ROM, and start the process again? I've just attempted this and revolutionary doesn't see the device.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Fixable, not that easy though...
Have a look here, same problem as you. Post 11 explains how to make a gold card on the Pc with a card reader.
Also a few posts here about how to make a goldcard on the PC, so have a look for them.
Keep in mind some cards just dont work as goldcards.

[Q] Flashed the wrong PG58IMG.zip

Very much a noob when it comes to Android phones and I have been working through the process to get a custom Rom on my HTC Sensation. I started following the instructions in this thread [Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on and successfully completed step one, achieving s-off on the phone.
In step two things went badly wrong. Following the instructions I downloaded clockwork recovery and copied the PG58IMG onto my sd card, at least I thought I did. What I now realize is that since I had been doing a lot of reading and research on this topic before attempting it for the first time I had downloaded several relevant files in advance, one of which is the PG58IMG file from this thread [DEV] HTC Sensation & HTC Sensation XE firmware | Partitions Info | [01.03.2012 and it was this file that I put on the sd card. Obviously not what I should have flashed at all. Especially since it seems that the tool which would help me out of this mess is the one I just failed to install properly.
So the situation is that the phone loops constantly on startup when booting normally. When I boot into HBOOT with the SD card in it tries to update again and when that fails, gives no option but to reboot. If I remove the SD card then I get access to the following screen -
-Revolutionary-
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1100
RADIO-10.14.9035.01_M
eMMC-boot
and below the options -
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
I have tried connecting the phone to my computer at this stage but I cant get FASTBOOT USB and adb cant find any devices either. Am I completely stuffed at this point? If not, if anyone can help me out with some instructions on what to do here I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks,
Webba
So have you tried to go into recovery once your in bootloader ? what happens then ?
If you get the correct files onto your sd card via a card reader, then put it in the phone, bootloader should attempt to update the new correct files.
I have tried going into recovery, it comes up with a pic of a phone with a green circle, followed by a phone with a red triangle, followed by going into the boot cycle. This is with the sd card removed. Am I right in thinking that if I get the right files onto the card and then run recovery with the sd card in it will work?
If you run BOOTLOADER then it should do... Make sure you remove the old PG58IMG before putting the new one on.
Thanks so much, I will try it as soon as I can. I assume I will find the right stock rom somewhere on these forums?

My Sensation was purchased in Hong Kong, after looking at the lists at shipped-roms this one - RUU_Pyramid_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.35.707.1_Radio_10.43a.9007.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198358_signed.exe
seems to be most likely correct. Can anyone more knowledgeable confirm this? I would hate to flash the wrong thing again.
did you successfully get superCID ? if so i do believe that you can flash any RUU / ROM
Im not 100% on this as im still new to the sensation myself, But im sure thats the whole point in having SuperCID
Unfortunately I dont have superCID. I was following the instructions pretty slavishly and the superCID setup is one step after clockwork
Is there a way to get superCID in my phones current state? From what I am reading I need it to at least hook up to adb which it is not doing at the moment so I assume I just have to get the right onto the sdcard to have any chance of it working, right?
Yes, You need clockwork mod before SuperCID. Have you tried to re download CWM and put it on sd card ? It could have just been a bad download, it happens to us all.
Download it again, Remove the previous PG58IMG from SD Card via a card reader (if you have one) Put the new PG58IMG on SD card. Pull battery out, Put SD Card back into the phone, put battery back in and boot into bootloader (volume down + Power)
Bootloader should automatically find the PG58IMG and ask if you want to update it, Select yes and theoretically you should be fine..
EDIT: Use this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=706572&d=1314848127
Yeah, I have re-downloaded CWM and made sure it is the right one I have to wait until the shops open here so I can pick up a micro sdcard reader but I will try the new CWM first, and if that fails then I will try the stock rom. Am I right in thinking that neither of this is likely to make the situation worse, even if they dont work?
No providing bootloader still works everything is fix-able..
We aint messing with bootloader so u will be ok.
Cant believe you dont have a card reader lol....
lol, up until today the only thing I needed to be able to read micro sd cards was the phone. Well, I will be better prepared next time anyway.
The thing that had me worried is that since I originally didn't realize PG58IMG was not a unique file name I am almost certain that the one on my sd card at the moment is not even CWM at all but one of the updated firmware ones I mentioned in the OP that I very stupidly mistook for it. It feels like a really serious mistake to make, but happy to know that if the boot loader is working then it should be fixable. I wasn't sure even about that.
I think the PG58IMG is a unique code that the phone reads and recognises as something to be flashed / updated.
Ive seen various things CWM / Firmwares / Updates with the same PG58IMG title. so maybe youre right and the original file you downloaded wasnt the correct one.
Dont panic, Keep calm, Ask questions, Get answers...... This is the only way to avoid a bricked phone
Yeah, you've saved me a lot of stress already. Ill be back in a few hours with the results of the next attempt. Thanks again!
Ok, the news is not great. I got hold of a micro sd adaptor so I could plug it into my computer and removed the old PG58IMG. I put the correct one (downloaded from this thread) on the sd card and rebooted the phone into HBOOT. It recognizes the file on the sd card but gets a cid fail and there is no option but to reboot which goes into the boot cycle.
Whats worse is that doing this apparently fries the sdcard. I tried it twice, because I am sucker for punishment and in both cases the sdcard is unreadable afterwards.
Maybe I should try and explain more clearly that I am now sure the PG58IMG that I first put on the card and flashed I am sure is the Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU from this thread. It appeared to successfully update before rebooting the phone into its current state, causing me to realize I had the wrong file. I dont understand enough to know exactly whats going on but it seems pretty bad. Do you think I should try a 3rd sdcard with the Shipped ROM on it or is there something else I should do at this point?
Edit - The second sd card wasn't fried after all, but I am still searching for a shipped rom that isnt in .exe format, since the phone isnt connecting to the computer by usb at all right now. Anyone know where I can find one?
Edit - Ok, now I have fastboot usb which means I can use .exe shipped roms. adb devices cant find the phone though which means I cant superCID it which means I still have to find the right ROM. Since I brought the phone from HK I am trying all the asian ones first. Anyone know specifically which file at shipped-roms.com is the right one?
You flashed firmware for ics rom, so the stock rom won't boot and you have bootloop. If you flash the 3.12 firmware ( works for both ics and gb) that will resolve the loop and you will be able to continue with the guide and flash cwm.
Sent from my HTC Pyramid using xda premium
Hey Stringer7, do you mean this Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU available in the same thread? I will download it and give it a try.
edit - Gave it a try, I get CID incorrect from it too. Seems like CID incorrect for everything I try to flash atm.
What is your CID ??
Unfortunately I dont know. I didn't know I needed it before I started and now since the phone isn't talking to adb I cant use it to find out. All I know is that I bought the phone from Hong Kong about 6 months ago. Is there a way to check the CID with the phone the way it is now?
