[Q] Installing Custom ROM on Infuse - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hey guys, I know your not supposed to install other phones ROM's onto your phone. But I know that the i9100 is very similar to the Infuse, so I was wondering if it's OK to flash an i9100 ROM onto the Infuse?
I couldn't find any similar threads to this question, but I know CM has nightlies for the i9100 and nothing for the Infuse, just wondering if it would work, I don't want to take a chance and brick my phone either
Thanks!

The I9000 is similar, but the kernel and other key things are different. If you are wanting to run a ROM from the I9000, I would suggest checking out one of the porting guides here in the infuse section. It isn't a hard process, and it will ensure that the ROM will work. I do not think a standard I9000 will work on the infuse without modifications. I am on my phone right now, but I'll get the link in a sec for the guide I followed to bring an I9000 ROM to my infuse.
*Edit* here is the awesome guide I used. Pretty simple to follow and takes about 10 minutes once you've done it a few times.

All credit goes to the OP, this guide does work.

dont open new threads when(at the time of this threads creation) the one you have open in the q&a sub forum has already answered this exact question TWICE.
And now since i answered it again(before I saw this thread) the link is there 4 TIMES!!!!

i like the fact that the OP thinks superoneclick doesnt work with i9000
it works with damn near EVERYTHING, nearly EVERY PHONE
I like the fact that this should be in the i9000 section..
Is this a i9000, or a Captivate? If it's an i9000
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=748
The i9000 is not a captivate. It's a GalaxyS. The captivate is a type of GalaxyS, just like the i9000. They're different phones with different ROMs, with different kernels with different hardware with different drivers. They are GalaxyS's but a i9000 is NOT a captivate.
Adam...i believe he may have flashed I9000 gingerbread on his captivate. (perhaps a froyo I9000 firmware who the hell can tell at this point.) Notice he said auto rotation doesn't work, and he's asking for stock rogers firmware so it's definitely a cappy.

yeah. he has a captivate, but has flashed an i9000 rom with i9000 kernel. he didnt read everything he was told to read, or he would have understood that he needed a reoriented kernel. he also wouldnt be making threads like this.
I read but trying to decipher what is old what isn't what works and what won't yea I flashed gt i9000 ,in the other read I had a different issue so I didn't post this problem there cause I didn't think I would be seen, my buddy put g.bread cm7nightly on my phone it didn't work, so I desperate and short on time(screaming kids all weekend) used odin and put gti 9000 onto my captivate please send me the info I need, before I throw this phone against a brick wall

First, GT-I9000 is a cousin of captivate. Flashing GT-I9000 ROM is not a huge problem if you have proper kernel to support it. Infact all the GB roms in captivate dev section are derived from GT-I9000 ROM.
Second, why is that u dont want to ODIN back to eclair first if u really want to be on stock?
I think you need to calm down first and do a bit of study before doing anything crazy with ur phone
Edit: And i am guessing you have flashed GB bootloaders so to get into recovery try Power + Volume UP
I don't know where to get the Rogers firmware, but if you want a captivate 2.2 ROM...
Here.... http://files.teamkomin.com/Andromeda/Tools/Andromeda3-HeimdallPackage.zip
Use the Andromeda3 heimdall package. Its simple enough to figure out and everything you need is included. Just put your phone into download mode and flash it.
edit: if you have flashed 2.3 bootloaders, you are on your own. I will not recommend flashing bootloaders. You will need to find a 2.2 bootloader for your phone.
Thanks for the link, odin makes sense to me now so i understand the multiple files needed,we (me and the guy who owns the mobile solutions store tried for 4 hours to boot into recovery and dl mode, followed connexion 2005 3 finger fix to a tee,got the file onto phone, cannot root either because apparently phone thinks its a i9000,we tried old one click root and when it puts phone into recovery mode power button will not allow selection also re-inst packages opt is not there, maybe next a jig? thinking of grabbing 3 100k ohm resistors and trying that method im all out here..am i stuck with a 500$ paper weight or what???
jeez....read. read.... and read some more
SUPERONECLICK will root your fkn phone. it doesnt matter if the computer thinks its an i9000 or not!

No!
It's a good rule of thumb not to flash ROMS from other devices.
I wouldn't advise not trying it. Unless you want to hard brick it.
I know from READING that the modem is a hit or miss from the NOTE on the SKYROCKET. Unfortunately, it was a miss for me.
change ^^ before u get reported lol (yes nrm, im talking to u )

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 SGH-I497 AT&T

If anyone knows of or is in production of a custom ROM please let me know. I have mine rooted with CWM, so if you need any stock files let me know and Ivan send them over! I would love to have something for this make. I see there are plenty of option for the pxxxx or gtxxx models. But nothing for the SGHxxx variants.
Looking for this too!!!!!!!
OK, I will jump in also.... But if you do find one, come to Google+ and point the way.
https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/100516894664157928866
I have one too and I can't believe there is no development for this thing. If there is no dev for it soon, the next new thing will bump it off the AT&T shelf and all we'll have is a rooted stock Tab 2 or the opportunity to buy something else.
Im sorry but there is seriously only one dev for any SGHXXX device. And he only supports the 7" one. Sorry guys. Besides, why not get a Nexus 7 or wait for the new Nexus 7.7?

[REQ] Android 4.2.1/2 ROM for Galaxy Victory 4G LTE

If possible, I'm willing to donate $100 or more to a developer that is willing to cook up a Jellybean 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 custom rom for the VM Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE. Possibly an AOKP rom. I'm currently running cmbaughman's PACMAN rom atm and I love it. So if it is possible, $100 donation goes to the first runner up.
(sorry about the placement of the post, I didn't know where else to post it since there is no SGV forum threads)

work in progress ... updated 2 days ago...
It's being worked on. The Galaxy S3 (d2) and the Victory (goghspr) are similar, but not exactly the same. The display is different, and there are not any other devices I can find with the same display as the goghspr. WIFI is not the same, BT is not the same, etc. There is already a booting CM-10 for the goghspr, but I stopped work on it to move to CM-10.1. The link you provided is to the post of a guy I'm also working with, g60madman. Give us time. I'm working on the kernel when I can (I'm disabled and have a new painful injury to deal with). The apexqtmo guys have been very helpful and are allowing me to dig through their work to get some stuff for the goghspr/goghvmu kernel. I already have cm-10.1 building, but it won't boot until I get the drivers ported. Create thread with the device name and show the generation of interest as often as possible. I've already requested a dedicated forum, but there needs to be a real NEED for it before we can get it. Cheers and out!

Thanks for the support. There is not a forum on XDA for this device. There are two on androidforums. I have ported cwm and twrp and have released a faster kernel and some other junk too. I think others have some stuff there too. Hit my github link and you'll see some repos and forks for other guys basing off my work. g60madman just patched our kernel up and he's setting up for cm-10.1 for the goghvmo. Again, take a look. We're legit. My time is limited during school break and i am disabled so progress goes in spurts. Cheers and out!

Maybe this will help:
http://www.oudhitsquad.com/android/Samsung/SPH-L300/Mod/recovery/TWRP-2.5.tar
Remember, uncheck auto-reboot. Once flash is finished, pull USB cable and battery. Replace battery and boot directly into recovery using VOLUP+POWER until blue letters are seen in upper left corner. Release buttons. That should get you going. Use goomanager to update to TWRP 2.6

[Q] Bricked GS3 - Avoid Reccurence

Hello all!
This is my first post here and I thank all for comments in advance - they are very appreciated!
So I was very new to the aspect of rooting when I first got my Sprint GS3, but I read posts here and watched many tutorials on youtube and successfully rooted my device using Odin, then using Goomanager flashed CM 10.1 without a hitch. I had a custom kernel as well ( do not remember the name ), so when I updated my ROM I went hunting for new kernels as well. On an XDA (forgot the name/link) thread I found kernels compatible for CM 10.1, but when I flashed it my phone got bricked. No drivers found, won't boot into recovery or download, taking out and replacing battery wont work - not even an LED light. I said that I lost it and received a new one, but I was wondering why it got bricked (I have a bad gut feeling I did something as dumb as getting an international version kernel as I heard they would not be compatible?) And if there are links for a kernel for a stock firmware rooted GS3 - I have not seen one and I am nervous on finding more seeing as how I already bricked one phone. Thanks for the help!!! I just want to be more educated on this so I do not have to spend another 150$ in replacements. Thanks!

Only flash kernels that are in your device threads. Next time leave out what you did to get it replaced as that is fraud and not looked at well here.
