[Q] Galaxy S4 (16gb) Octa-Core version or Galaxy S4 (32gb) Snapdragon 600 version? - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
I'm from Belgium and would like to buy a Samsung Galaxy S4, there is a shop in my neighborhood where I can buy a Galaxy S4 with an Octa-Core processor (with 16gb intern storage) that originaly come from another country but when I buy it they promise that I will receive 2 years of warranty and the price is 650 euros,
on the other side I have the possibility to buy a Galaxy S4 with Snapdragon 600 processor but this one has got 32gb intern storage, it's a product from Germany but this one is 100 euros more expensive, it's 750 euros...
To be honest I would like to buy the Octa-Core version because it scores better on the benchmarks and it has a better (longer) battery life but on the other hand for me it's very important to have enough internal storage because since Android 4.1 we can't move any application to SD card!!!
Which one would you choose and why???
Thanks in advance

Where can you get the snapdragon version from in Germany? Would appreciate if you could share the link
Samsung is slowly releasing an official update which is allowing you to now move apps to SD card. So if that's what's stopping you, you can go for the Octa I'm personally going for the Snapdragon version because google is releasing the "Google Edition" version of the S4 which will be running on the snap dragon version of the phone. I'll be flashing my S4 with that ROM once it comes out.
I still want a 32 GB snapdragon though. That's why if you could share the link, it would be much appreciated!

From just the two you mention - the i9505 (S600) version - it has LTE and battery life is better (and less heat).
You can also look on Amazon after the i9505 version with 16GB - it is generally 100+ EUR cheaper.

64GB Models, 3G or WiFi

Any idea if the 64GB models will be available any time soon?
I to want a 64gb version.
Me, too. Gave up and ordered the 32GB with a 64GB microSD.
Did they ever mention it was coming out?
I could have sworn I heard or saw 64GB mentioned somewhere, but Sammy doesn't have it on their site. Who knows?
Looks like Samsung did make 64Gb 3G versions for Russia:
GT-N8000ZWFSER white
GT-N8000EAFSER gray
Any other countries getting the 64s?
P.S. And yes, I think it is a luxury to pay $200 or perhaps even $300 on top of $800 just for "48Gb" of extra internal storage.
Anyone knows about any other 64Gb models available?

the tech specs on the uk site show 16GB / 32GB / 64GB Nand Memory... only ever seen the 16GB one!
Sammy announced 64GB models also for 7.7 and 8.9 Tabs "centuries" ago, but they never showed up in Europe .............
Always keep in mind: tablet market for Android is still VERY small and with other companies competing it´s the price that counts, Maybe 64GB will never be built due to very low selling chances .......................

Well, clearly they built a 3G model for Russia, just search for the references given couple posts above
Question is now if there are any WiFi models available anywhere, or if the 3G model available in any countries other than Russia...
Anyone has a reference(s)?

Can confirm that in Moscow there are plenty of 64GB 3G in shops but not 32GB, only one.
Average price for the 64GB 3G is EUR 835.

Any news on the 64GB WiFi model availability?

Chinese Phone Thread

I have gotten fascinated by several Chinese phones lately, and plan to own one with Straighttalk or simpletalk soon.
I want to use this thread discussing the top Chinese phones by price/budget. I have added some names below - please suggest more. I also intend to put the supported bands, so people looking to use it on specific carriers will have best luck with these phones.
(Copied from a different thread For AT&T, the band is 850/1900 MHz for both GSM and WCDMA 3G. For T-Mobile 850/1900 MHz GSM and 1700 MHz for WCDMA 3G. If your phone is WCDMA 900/2100, 3G will not work for both AT&T and T-mobile. You must have at least one band that matches with your network. For best 3G coverage, both bands must be supported by the phone.

Hi, did you ever get any of the chinese phones? If so, wher did you buy your phone?
I'm fairly settled on the upcoming 1GB RAM version of G2, but I'm having trouble deciding where to actually make the purchase. I've been in talks with etotalk, and while they don't seem to be out to scam people, it has become apparent that specs on pre-release devices are totally unreliable and should be triple-checked with their salespeople prior to purchase.
On XDA, it's apparent that FCT has some very bad rep and only people with single-digit post-count come to their defense. (Yeah.. totally trustworthy. )
So, have you any experience to share?
I wouldn't trust my money with those phones it's much better to save up and buy an official, 'real' phone for the security and support

Jman, you're entitled to your opinion. I value your input. I'm not looking at the chinese phones because of the money, and would in fact gladly pay up to twice their price if they were on purchase here, with EU-mandated consumer protection and warranties.
The reason I'm looking at them is because I have looked at the offerings from the brands established-in-the-western-world and they're all pathetic. Show me a dual-core dual-SIM phone with screen no larger than 4.0", and a battery with a capacity at least 1.7 Ah.

Here are the launch dates for Galaxy S4 in Eastern Europe

A global launch of a smartphone is no easy task – there are long lists of which country gets what and when. The latest list (courtesy of SamMobile) about the Samsung Galaxy S4 is about the Eastern European launch of the flagship droid (including Russia and the Ukraine).
The Galaxy S4 is split into two versions – 3G and LTE. Unfortunately, it’s not entirely clear if those are the Exynos 5 Octa and Snapdragon 600 or some mix of the two. Both chipsets support LTE. The earlier rumors suggested the Exynos version will be the one sold in both Russia and the Ukraine, you can consult the list for the rest of the countries.
Both color versions – Black Mist and White Frost – will arrive at the same time. Also, the 32GB version seems to have been dropped – you get either the 16GB version or go for broke with the 64GB. The microSD card slot means storage is easy to expand, so you must really need huge amounts of storage to go for the 64GB units.
Anyway, here’s the list:
Galaxy S4 3G 16 GB – Week 16
Galaxy S4 3G 32 GB – DROPPED
Galaxy S4 3G 64 GB – Week 24
Galaxy S4 LTE 16 GB – Week 21
Galaxy S4 LTE 32 GB – DROPPED
Galaxy S4 LTE 64 GB – Week 24
Week 16 is April 15-21, Week 21 is May 20-26 and Week 24 is June 10-16.

Welcome to the forum and great post.
Thank the man!
This is driving me crazy. Why the long delay before 4G version?
Will 3G version also support 4G in the future as it has the capability?
So hang on 3G is the octa version and 4g is the snapdragon CPU? I ordered with phones4u and it states its snapdragon 1.9ghz and 4g?

yes you will get the 4G LTE version
I'm willing to make a bet : The S4 won't be available anywhere in this world prior to 26 april ! - the date of it's official launch.
Who's in?

April 15-21 for Exynos 5 Octa 3G version 16GB version! This info has been confirmed by SamMobile
You kind of have to take specific regional dates with a grain of salt. Samsung can only produce "X" a month so it's a matter of priorities as to which markets get which versions, in which order, and in which quantities. So what's announced for Eastern Europe may have no bearing on other regions. T-Mobile in the U.S. has said May 1 for the S-600/LTE version so you can assume, while not announced, the other U.S. carriers will be around that timeframe. So with "X" S-600/LTE SGS4’s available and a big portion of that "X" committed to the U.S. it could affect when other regions get theirs. From Samsung's perspective if they know they'll have "X" to sell in the first 90 days and that all of "X" is going to sell their biggest concern isn't sales; it's who do they want to please (country wise) and who do they want to piss off by how they choose to allocate inventory. And the missing 32GB for Eastern Europe could be because of re-allocating 32GB's to other regions; not that it’s dead. It's certainly going to look like a cluster-f outwardly as Samsung figures out who gets what and when.
So hang on what have we all preordered for stating delivery on 26 April from phones4u? For the quadcorere version when it's showing a may release date? Getting worse this is.

Only 2GB of RAM

Pretty much all the specs that i read up til the phone being released where saying that there were two versions 16/32GB with 2/3GB of RAM. and i noticed my 32GB Flex 2 only has 2GB of RAM. but is the 2GB DDR4 upgrade better compared to 3GB or DDR3?
thanks guys
This is something I'm really confused about. I was going to buy the g flex 2 sim free here in the uk, but can only find the 16gb with 2gb of RAM. Is the 3gb version available in UK/Europe? Also, does anyone know if the European 32gb version work in the UK on 4G?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Anyone seen 3GB RAM?
I'm looking for 3GB RAM version too but... Korea Version Hong Kong Version US Version 32GB ones only have 2GB RAM... UK Version of 32GB is yet to be released. Im guessing it will be released with the red colour LG G Flex 2 in the UK in April. Fingers crossed.
Anyone seen 3GB RAM LG G Flex 2 yet?
Not sure if this is one

from what i was told by LG's BS customer service department that all of the G Flex 2's are only 2gb of DDR4 RAM.. but what i dont know is 2gb DDR4 better and faster than 3gb of DDR3
and what else confused me was that all during the CES show and everything else i read, said that it would have 3gb of RAM. so this has me confused and now im not sure if i will even keep the phone.
So... 32GB 3RAM LG G Flex 2 does exist! But not in...
US
UK
Korea
Hong Kong
But in Philippinse...?!
What kind of logic is this?!?!?!?!
I mean they did this with LG G3. They launched 3GB RAM G3 in Korea only and mobile geek did a test between the 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM. It showed that there was a bit of difference between the two in various benchmark tests... I really want LG G Flex 2 RED 3GB RAM!!! Why is it so hard to buy one?!?!?!?

my LG G3 had 3GB of RAM, but I have contacted LG several times and I keep getting different answers and its really starting to piss me off. I just dont understand that at the CES show they told all the reporters and everyone who was doing a show and tell on the phone, they all said there would be the 2gb and 3gb versions. So who the hell knows whats going on....
This happens with samsung as well. Korea is their test bed for devices and they tend to get slightly higher specs than the rest of us in the uk and us.
Could be down to the advanced lte modems they have in the korean model that they need the extra 1gb but to be honest ive not noticed any lag or ram issues on my uk model with 2gb ram.

Yeah thats true for Samsung... but this time LG is saying
16GB will have 2GB RAM
32GB will have 3GB RAM
But the Korean model... or US or Hong Kong 32GB versions doesnt have 3GB RAM
2GB RAM might not be a problem for now but a year later when Android OS 6.0 is out 2GB RAM wont be enough just like how 1GB RAM have difficulties running 5.0 perfectly with lots of apps.
I just dont understand why LG would lower the RAM for its "first SD10 Flagship phone" compared to its competitors like HTC M9 or Samsung Galaxy S6 or Nexus 6 or Huwawei or Meizu! EVEN OPO has 3GB RAM. At least give us a choice for 3GB RAN u know?
I just spoke to someone at vodafone UK and they don't even have the 32GB Model :crying: :crying: :crying:

what i havent figured out yet is, the Flex 2 is running on the new DDR4 RAM as to where everyone else is still running on DDR3. but what i dont know is, 2gb of DDR4 better than 3 gb of DDR3? this maybe why they did lower it, i dont know if the DDR4 chipset is larger in size or not, but could be that they couldnt fit 3gb of DDR4 in the phone

Who is everyone else? HTC M9 and Samsung Galaxy S6 have DDR4 3GB RAM. ASUS Zenfone2 even have DDR4 4GB RAM. True Nexus 6 has DDR3 3GB RAM but that was released last year. So I don't think there is point in comparison between DDR3 3GB RAM vs DDR4 2GB RAM. But I can tell you that DDR3 vs DDR4, DDRV4 is FASTER to process information through but ovusly 3GB RAM vs 2GB RAM, 3GB RAM can TEMPORARY store MORE stuff.
ITS THE AGE OF DDR4 NOW. SPARTA http://cdn4.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

3GB RAM LG G Flex 2 was released recently only of US AT&T verison! Guess no luck for Europe and Asia...
Up until that last post, I was sitting here like ".... I have 3GB, whats wrong with y'all?".
But I guess AT&T (H950) decided they wouldn't be getting it unless it had 3GB.
im looking also for the 3gb ram variant. the ones that are available here in the philippines comes only with 2gb ram.

Samsung Galaxy s8+ premium (6gb, exynos)

Hello everyone,
I've lately started searching for a new phone and I viewed the galaxy s8+, it seemed nice but then I found out that there's a "premium" version to it with 6gb ram and 128gb storage. I wanted to search for it but couldn't find the specific model I'm looking for. I just wanted to ask if anyone knows the model name of the specific phone I'm looking for or where can I order it at? (ebay, amazon link etc.)
I'm looking for Samsung Galaxy S8+, 6GB RAM, 128GB Storage and the most important thing that I've got trouble in finding it is the exact phone but with exynos processor, most of the sites showed me the phone has 6gb of ram, 128gb of storage and it is the exynos processor but with 2.3ghz + 1.7ghz, which in some sites I see it is actually 2.35 + 1.9ghz. So all I wanted to find is the exact one with the exynos processor and (2.35GHz QUAD + 1.9GHz QUAD).
If there isn't such a phone existed I would like to know about it too, thanks for the helpers.
I have this and it's Exynos
