Has anyone ported over the gsIII gallery app for 4.1.2 touchwiz? In open albums you can swipe left to see just the pictures. I have the note II gallery app but I can only see two pictures on the right with the albums on the left. It takes a while scrolling through pictures!

Here's what i found searching for "gallery": http://www.mediafire.com/?5hp8e2jb7yspx look for SecGallery2.apk,
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26441841&postcount=6 .
On the other hand i have no idea if it will work on our phone.
Thank you, I actually searched around a lot before asking. I've also been researching for an smemo app from the gsiii but cannot get it to work. I've moved the smemo and provider apks to system/app but does not shows up under my app list. Suggestions?

If you're searching for smemo, google "smemo siii apk" or "smemo s3 apk" etc, learn some search sense it will help you.
Also XDA is huge and there are tons of other places you can ask this, like "Android Apps" and any of the several SIII forums

Have you tried S Note? Supposedly it's way better than S Memo and should be ported in my previous post.
Don't know nothing about the porting stuff, you should try other forums here too :good:
They have wider coverage and give you better odds in your search.
I could speculate that you can copy the needed resources from tw framework in to the S Memo apk to make it tw independent but that's just speculation and i've really got no idea.

Yes, but have you tried it?
It is meant for Samsung´s rooted and deodexed
(stock=odex!! = delete .odex files from system/app) 4.1.2 ROMs,
- Of course the thread will mention SIII since it's that forum, but reading the above and reaching a bit and you can interpret it as being for all samsung JB roms on all devices

Yes I have tried flashing it, and no, it does not work. Believe me I've tried so many different things. I know what I'm doing, and this isn't working. Unless for whatever reason my recovery isn't moving the files correctly, it isn't working. I don't have the snote apk in system/app, even though it is included in the zip. Weird. Might try moving everything one by one.

Turns out it still didn't work. I also ran out of space in system.
You could free up some space by getting rid of some of the notification, and ringtones. Some of them are 300kb or larger. I freed up 13MB just by doing that alone.
Not sure if that will still work though. I am having the same luck trying to get the same features as the S3 camera. I've been looking for help to get the extra effects, and shot modes for my camera ever since I saw the the camera on my girlfriend's S3. I've even went as far as trying to manually place all the files, that I was told that I needed for it to work, into their correct places. No dice. I've seen in a few posts in a couple different threads on here, that Samsung has tied up quite a few of their newer apps to only work with the phone they came with. Something to do with them being tied in with framework, and/or the kernel.
I've looked at our SamsungCamera.apk, and seccamera.jar files compared to the S3's, and they're very similar in most places, but they changed them up just enough for them to be a pain in the ass for them to work on another device.
I've asked for help from many people on here, as I am far from dev status. I can edit code if I know where to, but I haven't the foggiest of knowing what to do on my own on the harder stuff. When I have seeked others for help, either I get no reply, or sent on a wild goose chase. Not totally sure, but I think the dev work for our device is slowly dying as other devices are coming out. It seems they'd rather just not mess with it, and just jump to another device that already has the new stuff already working.

Next is root your phone and decide if you want to place a custom Rom on your device.
If you want to place a custom Rom - just read the development section for a few days until you get a feel for what going on -then proceed from there..
I was thinking of that, I rooted my lasnt android, and it gave me major problems, lose all contacts, camera not work, bootloop etc...
Sent from amazingly huge Samsung Infuse.
Rooting can *lead* to problems but not actually *cause* problems. Only improper flashing and modding can lead to issues. Good news for you though - rooting is not required to get enjoyment out of your device. I should know. I didn't root my Infuse for the first month I had it. I just didn't see the need to do so.
So, what exactly is it that you're trying to do?
Just make it the most enjoyable and personal as it can get. Im gonna end up rooting it eventually. But not now.

Download Appbrain from the market. It's free. You can see popular apps of the day (I almost always find at least one or two to download whenever I go through the entire list) and it can provide recommendations based on what you have installed.

Look at the "Browse Apps" section of Appbrain as much as you can. The list changes daily. You'll start to pick up on what you want and how to find it.

The best way to experiment with finding them is to search what it is and peruse the results. If you saw a calendar widget, search calendar widgets (and other search terms that might turn up results) and sometimes you'll be able to find them. Otherwise, just quote the post and ask the name of whatever you want. Sometimes the poster will answer, and often times, if someone else knows, they'll answer.
And another question. When I use different launchers, launcherpro for example, they are all very laggy, so are there themes that dont need launchers?

LauncherPro is a bad example. It hasn't been updated in a year. Try a different launcher. I recommend ADW EX. Lots of people like Go Launcher. You could always stick with the TouchWiz launcher too if you want. There's nothing wrong with the TouchWiz launcher. Themes don't generally require a specific launcher unless their respective dev says so.
Like others have said, the best way to find what you like is to simply try things. Become familiar with tools that you can use to backup and restore your setup in case you run into things you don't necessarily like.

I was using launcher pro for awhile and liked it, felt like it wasn't that laggy at all. It just didn't have the ability to customize as much as say ADW or Go, but just before I replaced it they did an update that improved a lot of things, and you can now do mass customization. Currently tho i'm using Crazyhome as my launcher and I really like it.

I might be missing something, though I'm pretty sure I'm not, but there isn't any kind of system wide audio equalizer. There was the DSP Manager on my Droid X that allowed you to eff with all that stuff but I can't find anywhere to do it on this phone.
Does anyone know of any application that would work for the SIII?

You can put it on while running Synergy. I have. Make sure you have a back up as you have to restore the app after every flash of Synergy. At least, that's my experience. Kind of annoying when I'm flashing the latest every other night, but whatever.

Yeah I think there are ways you can take it out of the TW ROM and place it into CM10...I'm just waiting for CM10 to stabalize and off I go! I've had it for a few days and seems good! the HDR Camera+ and Camera360 are great too!
I haven't seen anything like that. The TW camera app is what has kept me from going to CM10. I also like the TW calendar more than AOSP.

I hated TW and VZW bloat was too much
Personally, the one thing I would love if it worked right is the smart stay. I love the idea behind it, but in practicallity, unless I have the phone oriented just right it won't work. I've check the camera without moving, and I've had more than 3/4 of my face in easy view and still the screen would shut off.

The smart stay doesn't actually recognize your face. It throws that little eyeball notification in the status bar so it will distract you and your eyes move to "see what it is" the camera picks up your eye movement(or doesn't) and either keeps the screen on or not.

what you're looking for is the JellyWiz rom, based on the leaked tmobile TouchWiz 4.1.1
all in all it works pretty well, not perfect though.

When you do a clean install, the contents on /sd card and /ext_sdcard are never touched. That's why the pictures, videos, music and downloads always appear after a flash.
I like to have music, videos and pictures on the external sd card so if I have to send the phone back for any reason I can keep my personal files.

I installed the camera 1.62 and now video recording crashes and burst shot is still slow compared to touchWiz, what's up?

It should only crash on recording 1080p. It works fine for me except that. I was posting that more as an answer to saving to your ext SD like DJSgalaxy asked.
Hey I really like jellywiz, it's everything I want from Jelly Bean with all the touchWiz features but I've noticed my headset sounds very low, almost no bass. I thought it was my 3.5mm wire but I plugged my brothers phone in and played music and it sounded fine. Let me know if anybody else out there noticed that issue. Thanks

Wow, great post.
I have the same problem. Would like the touchwiz camera app. it's way faster than AOSP camera on CM10.
Install this rom and you'll get everything you love about Jelly Bean with TouchWiz

Anyone have an idea on how to fix this issue? I somewhat managed to edit TouchWizHome_ZERO which I took off an HDC Galaxy S7 clone ROM, removing any external dependencies, but while said dependencies are apparently satisfied, I then end up with a null pointer exception upon trying to launch the app.
Here's the modded Touchwiz Home APK:

Here's the source files for the app:
http://d-h.st/Mf1j
And as for the original files themselves I got it off this custom ROM:

Well my goal mostly is to rid it of any dependencies by moving most if not all of them to the main app. I know some dude managed to pull that off with the Xperia launcher, turning it into a standalone app.

Hey, how did you guys go with this? I'd love to hear more, I'm working on a similar thing with the s9 launcher. The link to your files aren't working either, I'd love to take a look at it if possible?
I managed to port a Samsung clock app to work as a stand alone app on non Samsung devices years ago, I barely remember what I did to get it to work now though

I haven't actually managed to continue with this tbh, though I would still like to have some pointers on what to do.
