[Q] Numa 3.0 Install on Moto Atrix 2. Stuck on Loading Moto Logo - Motorola Atrix 2

I installed Numa 3.0 as per this forum thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38977610&highlight=stuck#post38977610
However it gets stuck on the "Dual Core Technology" screen at boot up.
I try go in to AP Fastboot mode, and can get there but the down button doesn't work so the only option i have is to boot normally.
Totally stuck. Any suggestions what i can do?
It's Non-AT&T purchased in Central America.
Installed using Bootstrap Recovery.
Followed all instructions at above link except cleared the caches before installing.
No errors showed during install.
Firmware is 2.3.6
Really hoping somebody can help, I'd hate to lose a phone i just spent 2 days searching for and shelled out my hard-earned travel money for
Thanks heaps
Greg

Quoted from the op in the NUMA thread:
"!-!-FOR ICS 3.0.8 KERNEL ONLY-!-!
BASED ON OFFICIAL AT&T 4.0.4 ICS (but will also work on non-at&t)"
If your firmware is 2.3.6, then you didn't follow the instructions in the op. You can't flash NUMA on gingerbread. You have to be on ICS. That is why you are having problems.
Does the volume down button not work at all? If it doesn't, then I don't know what you can do. If normally it does, turn off the phone completely then press power and volume down at the same time to boot straight into fastboot mode.(what you're describing is not fastboot mode, that's the boot mode selection menu) Then flash your FXZ, update to ICS and try again. NUMA is well worth the effort IMO.
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.

Yeah, you flashed over GB, which could have even hard bricked you, but I doubt it. your gonna need to get the down button working so you can at least get into fastboot and reflash.

Damn, seems i messed that up. Itd be nice if it said something like "DO NOT USE ON YOUR PHONE IF IT CAME INSTALLED WITH 2.3.6" or something along those lines for those of us less familiar with the Kernel versions etc.
I have used a computer in an internet cafe to flash it to the leaked ICS ROM. Seems to be working okay now (phew)...
Thanks heaps for the help, you're lifesavers!
edit: how do i get the recovery console working again.. now if i try to boot into recovery i get a sick looking android with an exclamation mark in his stomach. there{s some of the menu items but i cant restore from a file on the sd card.

Hmm... so having some issues. ICS (leak) is working (with the odd bit of chinese here and there??)... but i cant get into a working recovery.
I've tried searching the forum for a bootstrap or recovery i can install, but only find the 2.3.6 version (which is what i had on there before). i tried to run it but it fails.. tried to unroot using that and it failed too.
can soembody show me a recovery i can install so i can boot into recovery and mod to Numa please?

motorola atrix2 boots up but only doesn't on
Im not sure if this is in the wrong section, I recently installed ROM Toolbox and changed the font on my phone and it asked for reboot, but now when I tried it is stuck in boot. it only boots up and motorola screen comes and does not show homescreen ... pls help me

Do you have a custom recovery installed? If you do, try to get into that and restore the backup you hopefully made before you started tinkering. If not, you'll have to flash the FXZ that is for your phone's model.

Got it, but the phone is no longer rooted. I can't find a guide to root a phone that has been flashed with ICS. Any suggestions?

If you had read the OP, you can't go directly to JB, you have to be on ICS, then flash JB.
Which option did you use from that page? I've used "I997UCLB3-root.rar" many times. But sometimes it gets stuck and I have to pull the usb cable and start over.
So, use I997UCLB3-root.rar, to go back to stock GB. Then flash an ICS rom, reboot. Then flash a JB rom.

Flashing JB is a big leap. Some reading, specially when you are new, could have saved you the trouble. But well, now is time to learn the hard way.
Download any uclb3 back to stock pack, either Odin or heimdall. Put your phone in download mode:
1) take out battery and place it back.
2) while holding vol + & - , connect your phone with a usb cable already inserted into the Pc.
Once in download mode, see if your phone is detected by odin or heimdall. If not you may need to install the drivers.
When all is ready, hit start.
*you probably don't have GB bootloaders. That will cause rainbows in your recovery when flashing ics and jb. If you feel you cant live with them, you will need to flash them.*
To flash jellybean, 1st flash any ics rom following directions coming from GB in the OP. Once you have blue recovery, flash JB with the directions in the rom OP.

As others mentioned, you first need to install an ICS ROM, like CM9 or Uniporn. The first time you flash you will prob get stuck in a boot loop and will need to use the three finger method to get back to recovery. In case you don't know what that means, you hold the volume keys and power button to turn phone on and then release only the power button when the Samsung logo shows. When u get back to recovery, flash the same ROM a second time and then it will boot.
You will now have blue recovery so you can flash the jb ROM of choice by following the method in the OP for that ROM. Remember to pull out the external sdcard if you have one.
Also, as others have mentioned, you may not have GB bootloaders. To get them, go to the "ISET infuse everything thread" which is stickied in the dev section. You will find Odin and Heimdall packages which have the bootloaders there. Be very careful when installing bootloaders (test usb with a kernel or something less dangerous first) bc if it fails while trying to flash the bootloaders, it can hard brick your phone. And then thank bigjoe for putting together the ISET thread so all infuse users can find everything we need in one place.

I think if you don't know what "that" means...it means you have not read anything you probably need to read on this forum. and probably should not even be thinking about JB let alone trying to flash it.
No slight on you benbos_06, I thought it was funny reading uninformed posts about "rainbow colors" in their their recovery a few months ago...now it's almost kind of sad to see the uninformed trying to go JB...and needing double flash and 3 finger to recovery detailed in step by step instructions. Jeeze!!! That's a little scary.

[Q] Clockworkmod Recovery updated, can't enter recovery mode

Hi, I've searched and can't find an answer. I've managed to root my Infuse and got Infinitum rom installed. It was working great until just this evening when Clockworkmod updated (sorry, I can't find the version number). It went into a boot loop. It took me a bit, but I managed to get it out of the boot loop and back to stock, now it's rooted again with Infinitum running again.
I'm trying to get back to a recovery point that I do have on the phone, but I can't get the phone to boot to recovery no matter what I do. When I try using the vol and power buttons combination or from ROM manager I get the same thing. It goes past the stock Samsung logo into the Galaxy S/Cyanogen(mod) logo, but freezes there.
I can, of course, take the loss of my setup and redo everything manually. I would really prefer to be able to get that backup back. I'm also concerned should I ever need to get into recovery mode for any other reason. My guess is that I need to downgrade the CWM version, but I haven't been able to find how to do it.
Can anyone give me any help? Please let me know if there's info that I can give that would be useful...I'm noobie, I know!

There are many layers to your questions.
You may need to read a bit more to get a better understanding.
Here is two points I can offer that may be helpful.
1. Don't use ROM Manager for the Infuse.
2. To downgrade a cwm version, you will need to flash a GB or FROYO kernel in download mode via heimdall or odin. You can also use any one of the return to stock that is flashed in download mode also.
If you think you lost recovery, try flashing the kernel for the rom you were running in cwm, if you can get back into cwm again.

I believe you about the ROM Manager. Too late, unfortunately. I'll take it off.
I had the phone back to stock with Odin. I went through all of the steps that I went through to first root it and install Infinitum. I had red cwm at the time. I just can't seem to get into it now. I don't think I lost it, I'm just unsure of how to get to it, since it freezes at the cm startup. I can just power off from there after I give up waiting, and it will boot to ICS normally when I power it on normally. I have Titanium Backup Pro, and it can access the nandroid backup that I have to get the apps and data. I was just hoping to recover the whole setup. I had an issue last weekend (oops to me) when I tried to install a JB rom where it went into a boot loop. I recovered everything after backtracking like I did tonight, and was hoping to be able to do the same. Is there any hope, do you think, if I go back and return to stock and start over from the beginning again? If not, I'll just suffer and redo the whole thing.
By the way, I really appreciate you answering. I've been lurking for a few weeks, and realize that you know a LOT about these phones.

Okay, so next question. I've been reading and searching and reading some more. I can get the phone back to stock and work up again, but I still reach a point where it will freeze on the Samsung/CM startup screen. In reading the Infinitum Project thread, I found this (yes, it's pretty easy to find):
"Recovery/CWM messed up?
Here is how to fix it...
1) Download uclb3 heimdal by qkster
2) open the program
3) put phone in download mode
4) click flash (leave program open when finished DO NOT CLOSE)
5) after it finishes and your phone reboots, put the phone back in download mode and reconnect to PC
6) click flash bootloader on the heimdal program you left running
7) flash, let reboot and your recovery problems should be gone"
I used that to get back to stock before...doesn't that remove the root? Do I have to go through all that, then the bootloaders, and then go back and root all over again to get back to a working CWM? I'm sorry to ask so many questions, but it seems that I've done most of this already, though I admit to not doing the flash for the bootloader. I'm just unclear since it says "your recovery problems should be gone" at the end of that, like I have to do nothing more.
That does remove root access. However, root isn't really necessary, at least for the stock ROM, if you have no intentions of staying stock. The ROM .zips you'll subsequently flash are pre-rooted. After you Heimdall back to stock, and flash it again with "flash bootloaders" selected, then use Heimdall to flash this kernel:
http://d-h.st/6KA
That'll flash both a new kernel and CWM Red recovery. It'll take a few minutes to boot up the first time, as it's installing the lagfix. Once it boots up, just shut it down and boot back up in recovery. From there, you can do whatever you need to do.

As Apex pointed out, each time we bring the phone back to stock, we lose root access and all the previous setup. It's a fact of flashing.
No big deal though, rooting is easy and is not really needed. What is needed is the insecure kernel with cwm. The link Apex gave you is the same as the posted kernel in post #2 of the thread. That kernel will give you the cwm. Review that thread if you haven't yet.
Flash the heimdall uclb3 repartition package. Immediately after it successfully boot your phone, don't close the program. check the bootloader box and put the phone back into dl mode and flash it again to get your gb bootloaders...
then flash the kernel.
review my how to thread if you need to.

Thanks guys
It's been a crazy busy week and I just didn't have time to deal with the phone. I've been dealing with stock gingerbread. It's getting kind of annoying, though, it seems less stable than the custom ICS that I had on it before. Not sure when I'm going to have time to play with it again and try to get it to where I want it. I think I'm going to try to totally wipe all of the old stuff out of the memory before I do it again, though. There's something that wasn't allowing me to do what you guys are telling me to do successfully. I'm also thinking of finding a GS2 and just selling the Infuse, not because of my confusion, but because the GS2 was what I was originally looking for anyway.
I'll try to get this one set up first, though, as it's just a matter of me being obsessive about it.
qkster, I'll look into the JB, too, lol.

Hey I am not the Infuse user... But I faced similar problem in my xperia some days back after updating the recovery.
I was also not able to enter recovery at boot time using my usual volume down way...
What the change was the new recovery checks for tap on the screen (repeatetive) instead of volume down button...
Not sure if it will work or not for you... But you can give a try...
Hit thanks if it works

Atrix 2 ics leak #2 stuck on cm10 boot!

Okay, so here's a long story short. I flashed AT&T ICS leak #2 when I first got my replacement due to a brick. I ran SCV7 for a week or so and decided to try out CM10. I restored my backup of stock/rooted backup. Uninstalled highjacks, packages and app (bootmenu) itself. I then installed our OG A2 bootstrap, installed fine, installed CM10, played around with it for awhile. Realized I didnt reinstall the OG A2 Bootstrap so went ahead and did that. (without booting into recovery yet) I then later in the day decided to REBOOT my phone to only find me stuck on the CM10 boot animation. I battery pulled, plugged in to see if any recovery would show, none, just the battery charge percentage. I then battery pulled again, got into stock recovery, tried a data and cache wipe to no effect. My problem is, there is NO FXZ for the AT&T leak #2, I have no recovery besides stock and the only thing I can do is take my 32GB SD card out and add/delete files/everything. I saddly did not make a copy of the system.img but was wondering if anyone else possibly did? This would be greatly appreciated as I am stuck with a soft brick until then or a new FXZ to work with AT&T leak #2. Any suggestions or help is very much appreciated. Thanks all for reading and I'm praying for a miracle in my phone right about now lol!

Hey, and sort of welcome back...
But I hate to be the bearer of bad, bad news... you have a softbrick, and there is NOTHING you can do.
Next time, read everything in an OP... LOL, look who I am telling this to....
The CM10 installs come with their own CWM built in, and flashing bootstrap is what bootlooped you, so after you get another warranty replacement (yes, you HAVE to do this), I would install leak #1 ONLY, then flash cm10 with bootstrap, then do not reinstall any boot hijacks or CWM "like" recovery (bootmenu), because all you have to do it hit the vol down button right as you see the blue led flash during the M dual core logo.
Or enter the CM10 recovery menu and so on and so forth.
This is how I got out of a cm10 boot-loop.
I just restored from bootmenu backup via adb.

I will get with alteredlikeness and see if we can possibly think of something together on this one. The first thought would be to try an mearet/searet fxz for 2.3.6 since they can fxz back with out any mods to thier 2.3.6 or 2.3.5 fxz from thier ICS leaks, but I am thinking that will still brick you, but interested to see anyhow.
So I will see if alteredlikeness and I can think of some other way to try. He or I will PM you either way.

You know, I was seeing in recovery how youbcan flash an update through sd AND system which has a lost and found folder and recovery folder. Dont know if this is of any info but either way because I wouldnt know how to put anything in system since I cant seem to get adb to recognize or moto-fastboot...I'm in a very confused state of mind and almost came to the point of hard brick but I refuse. I'll leave it up to ya devs. Thanks againg everyone.

[Q] Atrix 2 help!

Hi guys!
I tried searching for a similar problem that I have but wasn't able too. So I need your help here.
So I lost my CID, didn't back it up so was using bptools for it when I was on JB leak3.
1) I flashed CM11, 4.4.2 dated 14 Dec after flashing gapps, it removed my recovery and was bootlooping
2) I reflash the same leak3 which used to work earlier using RSDlite. Now the rom isn't booting i.e. it is stuck in it's "pumping logo".
3) I again try reflashing using RSDlite, only this time, it fails and status is shown as battery low in fastboot. Now I connect charger, it boots, stuck in the white screen which is expected since I lost my CID.
So, does this mean that it's charging? If not, am I screwed??

If fastboot says low battery then u cant RSD.....
Google Mcgruyver method or externally charge ur battery....( ie if you get a white led )
If your in india it shouldn't be a problem finding an external universal battery charger in any cell shop....

But it was charging even when the screen was white. So now I'm on JB leak 3. Any idea why did my recovery uninstalled automatically?

Dude if fast boot says low battery RSD wont flash it............whether or not it was charging with a white screen
So u have to externally charge the battery
And from what i know u can't flash ICS once ur on the JB leak ie u can't downgrade so u will have to flash the same leak again......

BMM can be like that sometimes. There are a few possible ways that it could've happened. As long as you make a backup before trying anything, and have RSD lite and your FXZ handy it shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's more aggravating than anything else...

If he was getting the "pumping" Motorola logo boot animation, then he was only boot looping so he was able to charge the battery. The battery would've only been an issue if the phone was booting straight into fastboot, or if it wouldn't get past the boot logo.
Also you can downgrade from jb to ICS, just not from ICS to GB.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

Hey!
IDK what was I thinking but I flashed pa 4.4.2 gapps on CM11 by altered and BOOM! Lost recovery and bootloop.
So I re-flashed leak 3 it's now stuck in boot animation("pumping"--again what was I thinking lol!) meaning a softbrick. Why is it happening? I mean is it a bad flash?
Or does it have something to do with leak 3? If so, I can't seem to find ics fxz. The superthread links are dead. My another question is-
Will I be able to us AT&T fxz? Since I've already lost my CID, it shouldn't be a problem right?
PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS!:silly:
Also, can anyone give me the link for asian version of ICS?
EDIT- Was able to boot! went to stock recovery, wiped data and cache partition. Thanks for help guys

If you ever want to use the JB leaks again, DO NOT flash the AT&T FXZ. Just a forewarning just in case you get stuck again and start considering it.

OMG you're right! Never thought of that! Thank God I acted patiently here. I was gonna flash AT&T ics just before trying that wiping data thing!
Thanks! Will keep that in mind.
One more question though(and hopefully the last..)
Can I flash PA Gapps on slimkat? Since both are based on AOSP right?
i guess i've a problem . by mistake while i was supposed to backup cid , i chose the option erase cid and it s deleted, no backup either. now whenever i reboot, my phone shows some error. since i've bmm i am being able to load into ics in system 1 . is there any possible way to get rid of this error message about cid during startup?? because it is really annoying.

Am I most certainly hard bricked?

1) Was on stock 4.04 ICS
2) Rooted the phone
3) Installed Bootstrap recovery
4) SOFTBRICKED by trying to install a Kitkat based rom (Liquid kitkat ) using recovery.
5) So apparently Liquid Kitkat rom was installed..........and was SOFT BRICKED
Got Motorola logo then blank screen
6) RSDLITE failed to flash FXZ Gingerbread InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID285.zip
This part failed on the reboot (I understand now this was a no no)
QUESTION: Would FXZ 4.04 ICS have been fine for fixing this with RSDLITE?
........ Now nothing will come up...will not turn on.........
no button routines will turn this on.......
the only light that will turn on is the white let when the battery is removed and plugged into pc.
So is this pretty much hard bricked without a way to DIY fix it?
Thanks.
Try the following link to recover your device
Hi,
Refer this link by which you can get your device back to working....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36834775&postcount=108
It needs FXZ file to be flashed to ics again. Then root and enjoy custom roms.....
As per my very little knowledge it is safe to use boot menu manager (BBM) then Atrix Boot strap.....
Please let me know if the above think works for you... It worked for me .....

Thanks anyways.

By the name of the FXZ file, it seems you have an AT&T Atrix 2. Sorry to say, but your phone's hard bricked by downgrading it to GB from ICS.

Thanks for the reply. Didn't I effectively try to go from Softbricked "Liquid Kit-Kat " to Gingerbread?
Since I installled Liquid Kitkat CM11-based.......(which softbricked me after trying to boot that )................would the ICS version of FXZ worked properly?
In other words, did I need to use a kit-kat based FXZ to recover from softbrick with RSDLITE?..........or just ICS?
Thanks

There's no official Jelly Bean for our device, let alone KitKat and hence none of the respective FXZs. So, yes, you should have flashed ICS FXZ in order to recover from the soft-brick.

You might be having International version of Atrix 2 or you might be on ICS Leak or GB, and hence you could recover your phone.
Downgrading an AT&T Atrix 2 from ICS to GB is 100% hard brick. Read around and you will get information on more such cases.
You had 2 mistakes:
1/ Use Bootstrap recovery instead of BMM to flash kexec ROMs
2/ Flash GB instead of ICS when the phone (AT&T) has already been on ICS (deadly mistake)
Hi. hard brickIn this way the device is to survive
Issue Solved??
Did your problem solved? If not you could give it a try the method I told you..... Mine is an international version... I downloaded FXZ for retail asian.... My phone was not at all showing anything when I click power button..... So if you tried all options you can give it a try...

You are not hard bricked. Your battery is very low hense the white led. You will have to straight wire the battery. Red+ Black- i brought mine back like this. Make sure u are using the correct fxz to.
