Hi!
After I updated my p6800 to jelly bean, the quick reply option (where it shows an arrow beside the sms in the notification shade) seems to be gone. It's very convenient as it just launches the mini message app over the current app i'm using. I flashed the two updates available for us (philippines) and did factory reset a few times but nothing works.
Hope someone can help and just tell me that i'm just doing something wrong and point me to the right direction.
Thanks.
What Rom did you have before? I don't recall that feature in ics.

If you want mini apps, press Arrow and edit
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda app-developers app
On honeycomb, the quick reply would be a word near the sms on the notification shade as "reply". When pressed, it would launch the mini message app on top of whatever you were doing. On ics the word "reply" was changed to a curved arrow. Now on jelly bean the feature is now gone. I liked it a lot coz I prefer to text with this phone rather than calling.

So before I got my evo 3d I was running miui on my of evo.
Does anyone know of a good sms popup that functions like miuis popup.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Yup, Go SMS Pro has pop-ups and a lot of other stuff.
Do they work like miuis popup though I. Liked it because it was so unintrusive
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Unintrusive because it slid down from the top? GO SMS won't do that. It will be in the middle like the rest of your pop-ups.

Yes exactly I would want it to slide from the top I hate how most pop ups sit right in the middle of what your doing

I have long searched for this, hoping someone would make an app that had this functionality, but alas, nothing so far. Only crappy go SMS pro.
Hello everyone, I would like, if possible, to find an application compatible with MIUI (On GSIII) that would make a popup for the sms app... Go SMS is not really what i want!! .
Hope, it exist
My gf is having some issues with her new blaze.
I rooted it for wifi tethering and tom remove some bloat.
Besides that it's stock everything.
Her issue is when texting, sometimes the text disappears and she can continue to type or delete but that text remains invisible until you back out the stock messaging app and go back in.
Any thoughts on this?
Anyone else get this issue?

are you using the stock msg app? have you applied any themes? i use handcent for my texting, it works way better than stock. i remember something a while back (on my vibrant) about text dissappearing and i dont recall exactly what it was but i think it had to do with a theme or font pack making text white... if that helps any.

Or the USB adapter...
For the record, I searched, I read, I didn't want to have to register to post.
Sorry.
My suspicion was the default Samsung keyboard apk needed to be installed in order for the keyboard to function...but what about the USB adapter, then?
So...alright...what default Samsung crapware needs to be installed in order for them to work?

Anybody?
Bueller?
100 people have seen this'd and I can't even get a "Me too!" or a "I'll take a guess..."?
I'll take a "Here's that Samsung keyboard API, hope that helps!" If anyone's got it.
Come on XDA, don't make me be the **** that cross posts this...

Me too
Not really.
If I had the keyboard I could get it working for you.
Try some apps from the play store. Has to be something that will make it work.
I read somewhere in the forum about option in setting of samsung keyboard to activate or deactivate hard keyboard or hardware keyboard may be this is the option you need to activate but i think you need samsung keyboard first try this link for keyboard but make a nandroid backup first

Tried this. I get an application not installed error every time. Apparently I need to deox the APK and bundle it with some xmls of the stock ROM, or something of that ilk. Not fully sure of what to do there. There really has to be a better solution...

Well, I appreciate the solidarity, if not the unhelpful knowledge that you could fix the problem if it was your problem. Not helpful, but supportive. So to you, I give a hearty thumbs up.

Same Issue
I have the same issue, though I'm using CM10. I think there will be more and more similar posts as more people buy this bundle.

That'd be nice.
How's CM10 treating you? I didn't like the notification bar at the top like my cellphone. I've gotten used to it in bottom drawer. What build are you using?
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
I love CM10, but I went back to stock so I can use the keyboard. Also the IR blaster doesn't work, not that I care about that. If the keyboard problem is resolved, I will def go back to CM10. I used a nightly from around 22 August.
That's why I went back to stock...

AOKP JB ROM now supports Student Edition Keytboards!
Get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841177
I have been using this now for a day or so, and it is an awesome ROM. Jelly Bean based.
The keyboard works for the most part, but for right now here is what works and what doesn't:
Internet - Works
Mail - Works
Lock Screen - Works
Volume keys - Works
Menu Key - Works
All numerical and letter keys - Works
Search key - Works
Home - Not Working
App key - Not Working
Brightness keys - Not Working
The devolper adds:
"I also sent this to codeworkx as well, so the CM10 folks should see the keyboard working soon."

Do you happen to know how they managed to get the dock working at all? I would be interested in producing a port-agnostic update zip so that people can move off of stock if they do not like Touchwiz. I know there's some limitation regarding a hardware driver, or something of that ilk, but I don't know the specifics.
I have no idea I'm afraid, but you could check with the developer of AOKP, cmenard.

I have no Idea how this would be done but I don't think it would be that hard to reverse engineer a driver for the keyboard.

Hey guys,
when do you think Whatsapp and other apps will come out with added functionality for Jelly Bean Notifications? Like replying from the notification bar itself, etc?
Thanks,
Sahil

Not sure what's changed in the tree or defconf.
"You should be getting an OTA update soon — if you’re lucky — that will bring your Galaxy S3 to Android 4.1.2. The VRBMB1 build is about 150MB in file size, and for those who are wondering, here’s the full change log:
Keyboard Predictive Text has been improved
Users can take picture while on a call
Manual refresh button has been added to lock screen ticker
E-mail syncing has been improved
Enhanced Bluetooth performance
VZ Navigator and Amazon added to stub applications"
-Android Authority
Seems that is all that was added for now. I was hoping that premium suite would be rolled out sooner. Oh well, the joy of being rooted, and being able to install things like pop up browser anyway.
How is this different than the 4.1.2 leak we all been using for a week or so

I have a buddy that uses this option all the time now that he has it. He makes vinyl signs and oftentimes while out working, speaking to a customer on the phone, it's helpful to be able to take a picture without having to hang up. Sure, not everyone will utilize this feature, but like a dozen other features on your phone, it's great to have them regardless of whether you'll actually use them or not.
