Sorry, the IMEI code is private to its own users. Unless you disclose it to someone else, I don't think its possible. But of course, govt. organizations like Police can track this. I don't think end users can implement this, as it creates legal problems.

i think you can only know yourself imei. it is no way to incoming call imei.

yes but i mean, if the IMEI "travels" with the rest of the message (a call or a SMS), i think its preatty easy that it ends on the other phone too?
i know there was an app for nokia, time ago, that could help you to know who was making private calls, and it was based on the IMEI.
and if i know the IMEI of someone.. thats illegal?
in reality im asking this, to know if the IMEI i can read over my phone, is the same as the one that gets tracked by the phone companies (i know it sounds strange, but flashing my s2 ive accidentally changed my imei, but somehow this new IMEI, that is something the phone creates automatically, is not blocked in my country, so i can still use it.

Calling Around The World

Okay, I've searched extensively and can't find a definitive way of dealing with this simply question.
I have contacts in various countries and call them from different countries. When I am in a different country, I would need to call them using the country code which is what the numbers are stored. However, when I am in the country, I have to make local call without the country code and area code.
What's the best way to do this without editing the numbers to take away the country code+area code when I am in that country?
I hope to hear from someone who travels extensively and share his/her best practices.
sorry? why do you have to take away the country code? all of my numbers are stored in that format, it's the easier thing to do.

So that you call it as a local number.

Little hint: you can make local calls using +00 123 456789 too and they don't charge you internationally. Maybe this is why some people wonder why you're asking this question.
ALL my numbers are stored in the +00 123 456789 format, so I don't have to think about it when I'm abroad.

LBE Privacy Guard
LBE Privacy Guard from. The market.
This program can block what you need. You need to be unlocked and rooted though. However not sure if viber will work after blocking.
Hi, this is a Viber rep.
With the current version, Viber still needs to use *some* IMEI in order to generate you a Viber identity. Without it, Viber simply won't work.
You can try the solution posted above, but we highly doubt it would help you run Viber. As we said, the progress around Viber 2.1 is at its final stages, and we hope to release it within the next few weeks.
viber not working due to damaged/lost IMEI
LBE Privacy Guard from it's working in this case; got my viber running after i have tried many solutions.

LBE works fine and Viber didn't mind at all. I wouldn't use Viber if LBE didn't work. Free is free, no strings attached. If the price to use an app is my info that's still a price.
Hi,
Can you please explain exactly what LEB is, and how it helped you solve the IMEI-check problem with Viber?
Are you running the latest version of Viber from Market? (2.1.2)
To all,
We (Viber) are about to release multilangual support for Viber at last!
Since we know that XDA's great advantage is having so many members from different places in the world, we would appreciate your help with translation to your personal language. This means adding missing translated lines, and confirming the existing translations previously added by users: http://translate.viber.com
If your language is not currently listed in our website - don't worry. As time goes by, we plan to add more and more languages until everyone's included. Remember - we let the community of our users shape Viber and device what it looks like
If you have any questions please let me know. We thank you in advance,
the Viber Team.
Hi,
Any solution to this problem?

Some custom ROMs override the original IMEI you had when you received your phone, and this is the cause to the deactivation problem. We plan to provide a fix for this issue soon (Viber 2.1.3) by collecting all the problematic IMEI's from our users, and manually whitelisting them. If you'd like to make sure yours is also included in the list, you can let me know what IMEI is written in the "About" page, so we make sure it's going to be included in our fix.

[Q] Banner ads capturing mobile number

Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone can help with a question and hope this is in right forum.
Does anyone know how these banner ads get your phone number?
I have had three explanations:
The banner ad and an email from the company say that they contact my service provider and the SP supply the number.
My service provider tell me they absolutely do not give customers numbers to third parties.
Via a phone call to the company they said it requires the user to enter their phone number and click submit. (I know for sure this didn't happen.)
Don't know which to believe now!
Would appreciate anyone who knows more about this if they could let me know.
Thanks
Rob

Question Circumventing application device ban

Does anyone know how to know how to circumvent a device ban on android? Clearing cache, deleting app, deleting app history does not work. They are placing a device ban for this particular app on the phone.
Any recommendations or advice appreciated.
Thank you.
They who. What app
Tinder
Maybe "They" think it is not appropriate. Any other app being blocked? When blocked does it give you some info/message
Am just trying to figure out how to circumvent a device ban. Have been researching xprivacy and things like this but have not quite figure out how they are linking the device. Even a factory reset doesn’t work.
If a factory reset didn't fix it I'd wonder if your phone is even legal? That pretty much has to be the IMEI is banned AFAIK.
Did you buy it from a legit source?

Probably IMEI based. That's what other apps like Snapchat have used for handing out device bans. You can't circumvent it if its IMEI based unless you know how to mask it or spoof it. The app may also look for additional things like the MAC address and IP address in combination.

Yeah, I would imagine it is IMEI based.
Any recommendations on how to spoof it?
Thanks

I doubt XDA would take kindly to people advising how to conceal IMEI.

Hello and good afternoon, @Journyman16
Just for your information: We do not allow discussions of or support for the change or edit of IMEI's. But we accept if the discussion is about the restoration or repair of the original IMEI. And we also allow spoofing or masking of IMEI as long as it's done on sofware level and the actual, original IMEI isn't tampered with. Spoofing of IMEI's is mainly used out of privacy concerns; however, if such talks deviate to illegal purposes we'd highly appreciate a report.

Thanks for clarifying Oswald. I didn't know how it might be seen by XDA. TBH I didn't really know what a 'device ban' is having only heard of IMEI's being banned after the phone being stolen.

There used to be some ways to do that (with root) on older android versions, but i've never needed to try anything like this personally.
I believe there are xposed modules purpose built for obfuscating IMEI, MAC address and IP address, to disallow apps from identifying devices, like xprivacy, but again, I don't think these work on newer versions of Android.
You can try, but going by my current knowledge (on newer android versions), the only recourse you have is to get a new device (and preferably use a different account) to log into the app in question if it really matters to you.

There are many apps that use "device ban" in addition to "account ban". They usually create a device ID in their database which is based on IMEI, MAC address and IP addresses, and can deny access to their services based on one or more of these identifiers.
Game companies do this all the time, and social media companies like SnapChat and TikTok also employ similar banning techniques. And over the years, it's getting damn near impossible to circumvent these bans. Upto Android 6, you could just provide fake device identifiers to the app with xposed modules and mess around with them but with all the exploits being patched, it is no longer that easy on a software level now.
Thanks for the response
We have tried xprivacy and haven’t had much luck. I’m trying to figure out what the next step is
In these forums the people aren’t experienced enough because this is really getting hard/technical, you’re looking in the wrong place sorry to tell you

There are many knowledgeable people on this forum, but with how large this site is, we can't all see everything. Comments like yours don't help, and I'd like to point you to Rule 10:
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do so. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably quite a few people with less experience than you, who could benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.

If you have nothing constructive and helpful to say, it is probably better to say nothing.
@Laser422 What do you mean by "device ban"? Are you saying that the Play Store won't let you install the app? Can you provide screenshots? What make and model is your phone, and what OS version are you running? Is your bootloader unlocked and are you rooted?
Do this:
Go to Play Store. Tap profile icon upper right. Tap Settings.
Expand About section. Do you see "Play Protect certification - Device is certified"?

It's most likely an account ban. Tinder probably thought he was catfishing. Or somebody reported him.

That wouldn't prevent him from installing the app. He just wouldn't be able to log in.
Or using a company phone with policy in place only allowing some apps
