played with the viewsonic g tab at office depot

I have to say after doing the updating in the store from my nexus i am very much unimpressed, if this is what dual core tegra phones are gonna be a like count me out. The screen looks great the ui is horrible and the thing is extremely slow and the touch screen is very unresponsive. The design seems different from the 1 I see on the sears website so I'm assuming there is a difference between the 2 for the screen. Any further input would be you wonderful though as I can't see spending 399 dollars on thhis. I have been thing is getting a galaxy tab but it seems like development is awfully slow on it

well... there aren't many people here that are going to disagree with you at face value. the UI is crap and it hinders this from greatness out of the box. The ad pictured in Sears is the wrong picture, Sears, Office Depot, and Staples are all carrying the same thing.
hopefully based on your post count and the fact that you own an N1 I'm sure you know why you are here. This is a solid device, just not out of the box. Go through the threads and you will hear the same thing.
If you don't mind (or actually enjoy) a little flashing then you will be good to go. the are instructions that have covered pretty much every issue that Viewsonic screwed up here.
Most of us went into it knowing we had a 30 day return policy and majority of us aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Once you flash it is speed it up tremendously or really not a very noticeable difference? Vs The galaxy tab what do you think is the better device. Can you install stock firmware

Most of the mods remove the TapNTap UI and replace it with a more familiar Android interface. And the latest mods have the newer Tegra drivers which boosts performance.
I would not go on what you see in the store. It's night and day with what the mods give you. But, the device still has flaws - some games don't work properly and the screen angles are not very good versus a Galaxy Tab.

If your feeling adventurous you could always bring a microSD loaded with TnTlite 2.2 and flash the floor model. Then you can see for yourself how good it really is

funny you should mention that. I actually had mine flashed before I was out the door of sears that first week it came out
But YES... the difference is night and day. I am a proud Galaxy 'S' Vibrant owner (AXURA 2.1, FROYO, with Front Facing Camera) and just didn't see the benefit of a 7" tablet over my phone for the money; had Samsung gone with a 10" it might be a different story. Paying for an additional data plan wasn't my cup of tea either seeing I can tether my tab wirelessly to my phone and I also have a ClearSpot MiFi router, I decided to try this route and I am very happy that I did.
Again, with a return policy you really have nothing to lose (except time well spent).

I never even tried to use it with the stock firmware. I flashed mine as soon as I got home. I saw the videos and knew I didn't even care about it at stock. I also enjoy flashing my devices. It is fun to kill some time. I am currently using the latest TNT lite. I love mine.

Well, the UI is fast and responsive once you install one of the modified ROMs. Stock TNT definitely sucks. The hardware itself is good - if you don't mind the moderately crappy LCD. That we can't improve in software.
Lots of hacking and alternate ROMs out in the less than a month this device has been on shelves. When we get source code from Viewsonic, expect even more.

Anyone here have a tablet?

I'm considering getting a new/first tablet. However, I'm not quite sure which one I want to get. I'm curious if anyone here has an android tablet or is getting considering one. If you do have one, what is it and how do you like it?
I'm looking at everything but currently the tablets I'm eyeing the most are:
- Transformer Prime: Sounds like a beast. I do worry it will be a bit expensive and I'm not sure when it will make its way to Canada. I'm also not sure I really even need that kind of power for what I want to do on a tablet.
- Motorola Xoom: Has similar specs to pretty much every other tablet on the market right now. It also will probably be the tablet with the most dev support for quite a while I imagine (until a "nexus" tablet comes out). +it's price point shouldn't be too bad at this point and it's scheduled for ICS update
- Xoom 2: Kind of like the design of this (even if the specs are only a small update to the Xoom). Problem is I have no idea if this will come to the states, let alone Canada anytime soon. Also seems kinda "blurified".
- Sony Tablet S: Available in Canada, but not sure how good of a price I can get on this (compared to the Xoom which has near-identical specs). I really like the design and am a big fan of Sony products in general.

Tablets are just as particular as phones. When you got your XT, I bet you thought it was the top of the heap. I did. Then I found out about all its little issues and problems, but also about the really good things it has. No way I could have known then. From what I can gather, tabs are the same thing. I have seen Galaxy tabs rocking it, but then in some people's signatures on XDA I see "Nook running CM7". In the states you can get a Nook for pretty cheep, easy to root and then put a stable CM7 on it a go with it.
Now RAM and memory are something I don't know anything about. Not even sure how much small RAM would be like our meager 256 on the XT. I actually would be interested in knowing that. With our current locked bootloader situation, I would stay away from the Xoom, even though I think there is a leak. I will never buy a Motorola again b/c of their user policies. I see the Bionic and actually laugh to myself b/c I already know it will be a locked bootloader (but the average person will think it is the best phone ever made. You know that most people don't even know what XDA, root or evena custom ROM is?).
Personally, my wife and I have talked about it and really don't understand the attraction to tabs. If you have a tab running CM7, with flash, email, skype,...it is extremely similar to just having a bigger screened phone. One caveat is that HP discontinued their global personal computer operations (now they are exclusive to technical management solutions- or some crap like that). But suspending their personal computer options does have one benefit for you and me. Their tabs dropped from $699us to $99/139us, but everyone with an online credit card picked one up a few months ago. Bestbuy just sent back all 250,000 they had in stock, so you might be able to still pick one up on the cheap (not android os though).
And finally, Rev is in one of my G+ circles and he posts a fair amount of tablet info, so you might want to PM him and find out his thoughts.

Actually, although it pains me to say this, the Xoom is a Google developer device and can be easily unlocked by users (i.e. it's like the OG Droid). I think you're thinking of the leaked Atrix unlock. I would assume Xoom 2 is probably wearing a chastity belt until proven deflowered.

Nope. I got mine quite a bit after it came out. I didn't really understand the RAM issues and other issues it had though... (was still pretty new to Android).
I would stay away from the Xoom, even though I think there is a leak.

It has unlockable/relockable bootloader and most likely the biggest developer community of any tablet atm and for a while (it's like a nexus phone I'd say).

I actually felt much the same way until recently. I do have uses for a tablet, though I've been thinking of the "it's a bigger screened phone" bit as well. There are certain things that I want to do that I can't do on the smaller screen of my phone (i.e. productivity stuff such as writing down lecture notes and working on essays, video chatting on a larger screen etc...). But some of the functionality on the tab is definitely duplicated by a phone. That's why I really love concepts such as the Padfone... (but that's not coming out for quite a while I believe...). I don't really love the idea of having both tablet and phone (superfluos in some ways), but I want something that combines the functionality of both...

My brother has the Asus Transformer and its a beast!! He has had it since day one and everytime I go over there I got to get my sticky lil fingers all over it. He bought the keyboard dock to which makes it twice as good + the full HDMI mirroring makes it awesome. Its also unlockable. He's running one of the newest prime roms with the o/c and there's no waiting for anything. Theres a pretty big dev comunity for it. Plus it has the ips display, which is the same as ipad. If I were you tho I'd wait for the quad cores.... then by a dual core, they will be way cheaper then.(hopefully) :/ lol who needs more than 2 cores in a tablet anyway.

I bought the Acer A500 when Walmart has them for $299 ($399 but you get a $100 gift card free), but my biased opinion says it is a bit on the big/bulky side. I felt that 10" is not very easy to handle given my small Asian hands. It is also not the lightest, and when I am reading in the bed my arm would get tired from just holding it up. Nonetheless even the Xoom or Galaxy Tab isn't that much lighter so I think maybe it's just me nick-picking.
Long story short I returned it but am very interested in the new 8.9" tab... That may be my sweet-spot on size. Same resolution screen, smaller/lighter to handle, but I will need to see how it's battery life fares.

I read a great review on Android Police about the Galaxy tab 8.9 and they said battery life was awesome. They hated on the touch wiz ui tho. They said it made everyday tasks sluggish.

Well, that's good to hear! I was secretly hoping the smaller screen will mean less battery drain (since I believe the 8.9's battery rating was lower). Regarding the UI... I can always wait for a custom ROM to show up here at some point! I just started playing with MIUI for my XT720 and I love it wwaaaaay better than any of the other UI I've used before. Gotta love the development community on Android!!

Your choices are quite limited; 10 inchers are usually at least $400.
I would recommend watching slickdeals.net for some reburbished deal if you really need one. In truth, however, the difference between 7 inch and phone is already quite significant and it makes the most sense for your price point (short of a "cheap" brand like archos).

i think go for the ipad if you like a bigger screen than nexus 7 ipad is also have the speed.

I love the size of my nexus7 so far there's not much I don't love about this tablet!I hear they are releasing a 10 inch soon so you could wait for that but I don't know if it will be tegra3 or Qualcomm. Again this tablet rocks! Rooted w/ stock ROM cwm recovery & trinity kernel.

I would recommend the Toshiba Excite 10 inch. It has HDMI out with an SD card slot. That's the tablet I would get if I wanted one.
Another good option is the Asus as you mentioned. You can look up the Samsung Galaxy Note Tablet. It comes with a stylus and I think it has app that directly support it. You can't go wrong with any of these. Just pick the features that you want and get it. I would suggest going to your local electronics store and trying them out to see which one you like as each of them have customized their Android OS with their custom apps and settings. All of the mentioned above have quad cores so you can't go wrong with that.
If you're looking for smaller/cheaper then you can go with the Samsung Galaxy Player 5. Its $200 and its what I use for my "tablet" experience. Its smaller and portable than the above but that may not be what you want. Note that this is a single core so you're sacrificing power and size but you gain portability.

I dont mind saving up for the more pricey tablets because im currently 4 weeks into my summer holidays and the rest of my work has to fit around my A-Levels.
A 10inch Nexus would be great but the realease date could be a while yet!
I wont be taking the tablet out the house much only to go away to my Caravan every weekend

Im not incredibly desperate, Just want to replace my crappy Acer Extensa 5235
I think i might wait for the Nexus 10 but the Galaxy note 10.1 is catching my eye although its aimed at artists and creative people ( I cant draw to save my life )

I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, and i have been loving it so far! I haven't even needed to root it, i'm still stock and its quick with a beautiful screen! I got the 16GB WiFi version with a 32GB MicroSD b/c i watch TV on it while i'm at work. The battery life is just AMAZING! I don't think i've ever gone lower than 50%! And i watch shows and movies for HOURS! There is some noticeable lag every now and again, but its usually pretty peppy! And it comes stock with ICS, they have even rolled out 2 updates since i bought mine! Thats rare! No word yet on if it will get Jelly Bean, but it doesn't matter to me, i love this tabby! Good luck on your hunt!

A good tablet would be the Toshiba excite 10. It has a nice screen, tegra 3, several ports, and very good speakers. The best part is that it's only $300 at Costco.

Is the Xoom still worth getting?

Hello everyone. Right now I have an Acer Iconia A100 7" tablet. I really want a 10" tablet but dont have a lot that I can spend for one. Ive been looking at the Xoom for a little while now since I can find them around the $200 range if Im lucky. The question is, with the Nexus 10 out now, is it still worth it to get a Xoom or would it be better to hold out a few months and save for a Nexus 10?
And if it helps, I would be using the tablet for a little of everything. Internet, music, movies, games and a lot of reading (mostly comics).
I greatly appreciate any info that can be provided.

Well, kinda depends on your needs. Xoom is and has always been a strong tablet, but at two years old, it is starting to show it's age.
Xoom is a versatile, solid, all around tablet, 32 gb with expandable storage, bluetooth, hdmi, and usb. It's weakness's mainly are the backlight, it's heft (for some) and it's age. 720p display, and about impossible to see outside during daylight(sunlight and overcast.) Tegra2 is a good processor but dated and unable to take advantage of all the benefits of newer games demanding the power of a quadcore like the tegra3 ( dead trigger.) Right now it is very minor things we are missing out on. Eventually there may be games we can't play at all. More than likely Jelly bean is the last official update the xoom will get. I can't speak for the developers. If you don't care about latest and greatest, but need something fully functional and good bang for the buck...... xoom is a definite option
Nexus 10 has a great display, true 1080p, and the A15 cortex dual core processor destroys the tegra3 quad core in comparison tests from what I have read. It is the closest any tablet has come to being what the xoom was two years ago. The deal breaker for me is no expandable storage.

Thanks for the great info Draxin. You have me some things to think about. I can do without the 1080p and thinking about it I'm not sure that running the newest and greatest games matters. On the other hand viewing outside is kind of a big deal.

Lol, sorry Drex - showing its age? La La La La ... not listening. (covering ears) Any device is relative to it's users needs. Newer is not always better. Bigger, faster, lighter most likely (in some aspects, other areas maybe not). Does it really suit my needs? Probably not. The next best thing, will be replaced by the next best thing the following year. Vicious cycle my friend. Marketing is evil and we consumers are its puppets They can always count on that buyer that must have the newest whatever. We are making these guy rich lol.

True. But Johnny Danger isnt looking to sell off a xoom, he wants to know if it is a viable option still in the 10 inch market. So he needs to ask himself what he wants from his new tablet before purchasing. Xoom is a fantastic tablet and easily one of the best purchases I have made, but I made my purchase almost a year ago when it was still running honeycomb stock and developers were porting ICS. I Got to watch it make leaps and bounds in functionality, smoothness, and reaching for the limits of it's potential. Now developers are facing the limitations of the space in the system partition for OS. And it sounds like they can't scrape any extra space from the internal sd or make some available on the ext. sd cause it is locked. So if Johnny Danger wants a solid, hard working tablet that can do anything he wants to do now, and should be able to do most(if not all) tasks in the future, the xoom is a perfect fit, he just needs to be aware that what we have now may be close to as good as he will get over the next two years of ownership(not saying it is bad), just saying don't expect much more from Motorola.
If he wants the latest and greatest games at their full potential, see movies in full resolution get OTA's of newer OS's and have a tablet equipped to get the most out of anything coming down the pike in the next two years, he needs to save up and get the nexus 10, conveniently priced at around the same range the xoom was when it first came out

I'm fully happy with xoom and this will be long relationship. I had in my hands asus transformer but truelly i cant see any limitations or u want gaming on it - but its not for it.

Well I went ahead and got a xoom. I bought a used one on Craigslist and feel that I got a good deal. I got 32gb xoom, original box and charger, official Motorola xoom cover, and 2 screen protectors for $150.
I absolutely love it. Everything runs great, including the games I play. My son was watching YouTube videos on it and sometimes it hiccups but that doesn't bother me. The thing that really took me by surprise is the battery life. It lasts so long on a charge. Now I understand why people were so upset with the Acer iconia tab a100 battery life. This is one of the fewer purchases I have no regrets about. Just a fantastic tablet.

You're kidding yourself if you think it has anything to do with marketing. The Xoom has been showing its age for a while. Its great that devs continue to bring us the latest firmware but even they have acknowledge that the Xoom's limits are being pushed.
It is as you said, relative to needs, but I think its also good to think about the future. What will a 2 year old device be able to do a year from now? Two years from now?
I'd say save up honestly and hope for a sale on the N10 (tho it looks like the OP already invested v0v)

I just made the same switch today I paid 50 more then you but my girl has n7 I did not want same thing so I just got this but I like it actually have not even rooted

@Cubanluke88, Im well aware that a 2 year old device is not going to be on par with the most recent devices, like the N10. But at this point it was a matter of me wanting a 10" tablet that would do what I needed it to do now. I may still get a N10 in a few months and just give my Xoom to one of my kids (I have three, two that are teens). But for right now, its working great and I couldnt be happier. Especially at the price I paid. I might be getting a new job soon and if I do, Im going to be taking a hour train ride to work and back and Im just happy to know that Im going to have a nice big tablet to provide entertainment on those train rides if I do get the job.

Xoom or Xoom II or Xoom II ME?

Like the OP I'm looking to get a reasonably priced tablet for Browsing, a little eReading and some video watching. It's hard enough to justify what is really a gadget purchase and I certainly can't justify the ~€500 price ranges of the top tablets. My target is around the €200 mark.
I like the look of the Nexus 7, but the small screen bothers me a little. I've a Sony Xperia S and 7 inches doesn't seem to give me enough of a boost over it's 4.3 inches to justify spending €250. So I'm looking at reputable brands which have been discounted (due to age or market forces) rather than the budget trinkets that you can get. I even considered a heavily discounted Playbook (~€170) but that's just too far out of the park in terms of OS, support, etc.
I can get a Xoom II (16 GB, WiFi) for about €280, but thats at the upper end of my target budget. I can get a Xoom (32 GB WiFi) (B-stock, new but damaged/opened packaging) for €200, and that has my attention. But I'm worried about the processor speed and the display. I could also get a new Xoom II ME (16 GB, WiFi) for about the same price, €200. Apart from the newer specs (a faster processor and better screen), the 8.2 inch format strikes me as possibly more portable (for use while commuting). WiFi only is also fine for me as when I'm not in a normal WiFi area I'll use my Xperia S as a hotspot.
So, given my budget limitations and the fact that it's probably for light browsing/reading use (some videos while on holidays perhaps), would the Xoom II ME or the older Xoom be the best bet? Is the new screen a worthwhile upgrade? Thoughts please?

Actually there are quite a few new screen prtectors that dont degrade the quality that allow you to still see your xoom in the sunlight

Well, I finally plumped for the Xoom 2 ME. 8.2 inch screen, price (€200 vs €250) and mini HDMI clinched it over the Nexus 7, plus I really think that I don't need Quad Core nor will I do for a few years yet. Portability beat the Xoom or Xoom 2.
Only qualm is that I ordered it from Expansys as they had the best price (by about €25). For a mainstream seller it has far more negative reviews than it should have (they should really take their Facebook page offline). I did order via Amazon rather than directly, perhaps that adds a little more security to the order.
Hopefully I'll be one of the 89% positive buyers. :fingers-crossed:

Well, whatever Expansys is doing wrong for some, it was a pretty efficient transaction for me. Ordered it from Expansys via Amazon on Monday night and it was delivered (via a forwarding company from a UK address) by Wednesday night! Picked it up this morning.
I've only played with it a little and charged it up. Will do the ICS update when I get home as the work wifi is acting up. I was able to tether it to my Xperia S and so far it's looking nice, though the web browsing seemed a little jerky/laggy. Maybe ICS will improve that.
I have since noticed that my Xperia S actually has a faster CPU, more storage, a higher ppi, a better camera and will likely get Jelly Bean later in Q1. If only it had an 8 inch screen

[Q] Thinking of getting a Shield LTE; Thoughts from users?

I'm in the market for an 8 inch class tablet and the Shield 32 GB right now is leading the pack in my analysis. I'm curious to get feedback from owners as to whether you (as users) would recommend it for me based on my needs and use case:
Requirements: 8 inch-ish form factor (check) LTE (not just wifi) (check), at least full HD screen (check) and microUSB support (check)
The thing is, I'm not a gamer, other than the occasional angry birds type thing.
So I'm a bit concerned a game-optimized tablet might possibly be the wrong choice. Mostly I'll use it for web surfing, forum reading, and other general uses. Looking for reasonable battery life, quick response, and a generally good user experience. Prefer stock android or light skin.
I'll be using it on ATT, in places with good or at least adequate ATT signal but no wifi. I hate tethering things to my phone... it gets hot and the battery dies quickly!
So, unless I want to spend $500-600 on a top end Samsung tablet, the Shield 32GB LTE looks like my best bet.
I'm a bit worried that it is out of stock lots of places, presumably either discontinued or nearly so... But I think I can still get it at Frys.
I appreciate any feedback or insights that owners/users could give me! Thanks!

I am not a gamer either...other than the silly Android games... I love this tablet for what I use it for which like you is surfing the web and stuff. I have had no issues with it other than the latest update has caused the apps to optimise at every start up....but I rarely power it off so not a big deal to me. I do have a controller and HDMI cable and have used both without any hiccups. The controller is great to play beach buggy blitz on the TV! I have watched movies via the HDMI. I find the battery life to be good for my usage...but as stated I am not playing power consuming games. I have the WiFi only version (16GB) and found that wasn't much space even with an SD card so I rooted and remove some stuff I don't use...like Trine2. But with 32 gigs you should be OK.

Love the Shield tablet lte
I would highly recomend the lte version, for 100 extra you get double the storage and lte and its unlocked! I have great battery on it and usally really good reception. I would just recommend do all the updates before you strart really using the tablet. My only complaint was after i bought it compusa had a closing down sale and they had them at 50 percent off at the end. But even at full price, WORTH IT!

you can get all the pros from all the reviews in youtube but here comes the truth ( in my case and opinion)
Battery is a joke, with light use, the battery will last less than 8 hours, so be sure to plug it in the car, office, while biking, in the park, and carry a couple of the battery packs.
Do not open chrome. period.
make sure to shut down, wait 1 min then turn back on at least 2 times a day or it will be sluggish and laggy
the good part is that sometimes it does it by itself.... the shutdown part ( good battery)
get ready to RMA, I have done it 3 times and my friend 4 or 5
My RMA
1. Screen flickers
2. RMA had a dark screen, next to another shield tablet both with the brightness at 100 mine was noticeable darker, like if the slider was at 80
3. RMA had a less darker screen but with yellow tint.
My friend.
1. Battery expanded, it popped open the back cover.
2. rma had a dark screen
3. rma had same dark screen with yellow tint
4, same tint
5. waiting on the response of the next rma due to dark / yellow tint

Ughghg. I was just about to order one, as I had no real negatives to doing so. Now this. And since it's end-of-life RMA will probably be a pain.
Back to the search. I'd be curious to hear from others how robust their own experience with the hardware has been. Practical battery life, screen, etc...
My use will be light. Typically less than an hour of interaction time with it a day, no gaming. I'd expect any tablet to last a week or two like this (my old 10.5" Samsung Tab 2 <wifi> goes several weeks on a charge, with <30 mins use per day, often zero use).

About the issues.
To be fair, im probably one of the lucky ones that got a perfect unit. But as for lag and any software issues, just make sure you are up to date on the latest update. If your on 4.4 it will work great but 5.0 was terrible, 5.02 was better. 5.1 is so much better! Battery is pretty good, lte does affect stand by time. You can always throw it into airplane mode or turn it off. Ive seen the horror stories of bad units,but i dont know how often that is happening. We are in a forum where bad and good get written about. So grain of salt even with my praise of it. Average screen on time for me runs probably 5 to 6 hours with chrome and about 30 percent brightness and on wifi. It works for me, i upgraded from a second gen nexus 7 and then a lte ipad mini retina. I bought the unit from gamestop and with the way thaey do returns it was once i gave them the money it was mine. But really i love the shield tablet, i have the shield portable and planning on the new shield tv box with 500gb hdd, but they gave the ps4 a media player so really iffy on that. So thats my 4 cents? Since i posted twice.

I read online reviews at places like Newegg and so on... it seems that a lot of people have problems with this unit. I'm putting on hold my plan to buy one while I do more research. They cost $400 from reputable sellers like Frys right now. I found it cheaper from some individual sellers or small fly-by-night places (techatrone etc.) but particularly with the problems reported I don't want to take a gamble with ability to RMA.
I may just buy something with a less exciting screen while I await price drops on models with better screens.
I'm actually surprised there aren't a lot of choices in the ~8" WITH LTE class... at least, not that work on ATT.

I have a lte version since release and never had any problems with it. 6 hrs sot not gaming though. Was always fluent and snappy and now on 5.1 it is better than ever. I wouldn't hesitate a second when I had the choice again.

Thanks for the input.
I've gotten really frustrated looking for a tablet. The Samsung ones are feature-rich but locked down boot loaders and trouble rooting lollipop on the ATT version really turn me off. And the LG G Pad F has a weak screen by comparison.
The Shield is looking good, specs wise... I'm reconsidering buying one from a reputable vendor so I can RMA in case of trouble... The search continues but I'll make a decision this week most likely!

Did you look at the Dell?

Which dell? They have an LTE model that is rootable?
I looked at the Venue 7000 8" model but I don't see a variant with LTE. Am I missing an option somewhere?

After much consideration, I've ordered a Shield 32GB from Frys. Hopefully I'll be lucky and get one without build problems. I will try it out for a week and RMA it if it doesn't work out.
It's amazing that in the 8" class, there are few devices that aren't massively bootloader locked.

As long as you root it and make a few modifications... you should enjoy it!

Make sure you update to 5.1 and unlock the bootloader before you get going. Then you can install recovery and root any time you feel the need.
I've had a good experience with mine so far, except I did RMA because my case had crack, but the RMA process was as good as can be.
The replacement is in perfect condition, and I didn't have much trouble transferring to the new one, so I guess I got lucky.

FYI, 5.1 is not available via OTA anymore until they re-release it after fixes. If you want it, you'll have to do via custom recovery. I just got my RMA (at no fault of the hardware, just software issue on my part) and it came with 5.0.1 and that's the latest for me. I checked the system updates multiple times through the day with no luck on this 5.0.2 that I have read others mentioned.

I advice you LTE version for 32GB storage. Pen is quite good, but not good at all because the tablet hasn't a real digitalizer. Very good for normal users (about 6h screen with Wifi surfing Internet, writing mails and taking photos.. not tested with LTE). Accessories are expensive but I like Shield Cover for its magnetic feature. I advise you this tablet, against Samsung ones, but you should see also Nexus 7 2013 LTE and LG GPad ones. Nvidia doesn't optimize Android system, and sometimes there are moments when the tablet is too slow, but only for a little time.

So far I'm enjoying my Shield 32GB LTE. Works great on AT&T (once I got past the activation fiasco), and it's nice and smooth for me on Android 5.01. I'm not yet rooted or anything non-stock. I'm getting ready for a vacation, so even if a 5.1 update came today, I wouldn't apply it until my return. I'm keeping things nice and stable for the next couple weeks!
I also got the ProCase. It's working fine. I was a bit concerned about the metal clasp scratching the screen, but it doesn't seem to harm it. The design of the case seems to prevent that challenge.

Have also the 32Gb lte version. As a tab its great and im enjoy using it. Only downside & a really big one is the build quality and build materials. It's my second one after rma the first one because of cracks near the sim & sd slot. The one i have now got also after a whie 1 crack near the sim slot, then some weeks later the second near sd slot. And now 7 months later i have a lot of them and most are near openings of the tab(sd, sim, hdmi, stylus...). I decided to not rma again, cuz im sure it would happen again.
