The Boot Box Project is a community project that aims to produce a large database of easily accessible Boot Animations. What makes the Boot Box Project powerful is your ability to contribute, users may submit their boot animations directly from the Boot Box app (beta version 2.0 required).
Boot Box started as an attempt to put all of my work, free of charge, in an app - eventually it expanded towards the community and now everyone is allowed to submit their work. Boot Box is a must have for anyone who loves to customize their phone.
Acknowledgements - Special thanks to @ProfessorHipster for creating the Boot Box icon and to XDA Developer @D4rKn3sSyS for the local boot previewing implementation. Contributors List is Incomplete
Contribute (the uploader) - You may upload boot animations to Boot Box directly from the Boot Box App (v2.0 required). If you follow threads that take in requests, such as this one: [Team GFX Bandits] ▆ ▇ ▉ Bootanimation Hub™ ▉ ▇ ▆ , [May 19][NEXUS 4 BOOTANIMATIONS BIBLE] , or [BOOTANIMATIONS LINKS/INFO] [TUTORIAL] Galaxy Nexus Custom Boot Animations [31.03.13] you may post animations made for you (or by you) to Boot Box.
Feedback and/or suggestions can be send to [email protected].
Some features of the Boot Box App:
Dynamic Database. Animations are fetched and updated dynamically from a database on the Boot Box server.
Categories: show/hide certain animation categories*
Upload your boot animations directly from the Boot Box app.
The built-in Boot Box Uploader creates the required resources for you, including the GIF Preview.
Scrambler: allows you to play a different boot animation at every boot.
Boot Box Factory: create your own boot animations straight from Boot Box based on a static image or on a set of images.
Animations can be previewed via a YouTube video (if the uploader provides a link), via a GIF preview, or via a ZIP preview (the animation is downloaded and played in a simulated environment).
Animations have a thumbnail that gives you a small idea of the animation before previewing it.
Local Boot Animation ZIP previewing, installing, and GIF creation (thanks to XDA Developer D4rKn3sSyS).
Flexible boot animation and cache locations for different devices.
[July 1] Changelog (v2.7)
New! Create a flashable zip backup of your currently installed boot animation.
If you're running a CM-based ROM, you may have trouble with backups.
New! Pre-load GIF previews - this improves the quality and speed of the preview, by far.
New! Polished UI and new app icon.
Updated Scrambler. The randomizer now works better with no simultaneous choices.
New! View animations for all resolutions under one list (lots of duplicates, for now).
Fixed bugs with the latest additions menu. Pending animations won't show unless specified under settings. Explicit animations won't show in this menu.
Attempted to fix a bug where valid ZIP files are erroneously reported as invalid (please test)
More boot animation list sorting methods!
More tiny bug fixes and tweaks.
Reminder: the Boot Box Factory is meant to create animations with up to 10 images.

Support Notes
Boot Box currently supports the following five resolutions: 768x1280, 720x1280, 800x1280, 480x800, 1080x1920. If your device's resolution isn't listed, install and use Boot Box at your own discretion (I wouldn't like to hear about a 320x240 phone "exploding," or refusing to boot, after loading an animation with 1080x1920 assets, please!).
Gingerbread support is currently limited.

Can't wait for the twrp themes
this is a very promising app project.. thx for the work..
for the animation database part, currently it only shows 10 animations and i have to search in order to see the others..
is it possible to implement an "animation browsing" function so that i know what are available in the server?

As of May 25, there are currently only 10 boot animations on the 768x1280 section of the Boot Box beta (unless you have a Nexus 4, then an extra two become available). All animations on the server will be listed in the app though
I'm going to add more animations soon, they should begin to show up without the need of an update.
Nice
Gonna try this!
Edit: It is B-E-A-Utiful!
Never knew that a simple app to change boot animation can be this awesome..

Was wondering why my bb stopped working. Nice to see it on PlayStore. Very excited about other updates, already have a lot of animations and loving it. Thank you!
I would like to see support for 1980x1200 for my s4.. or whatever the res is..lol

Support for the S4 running AOSP will definitely come :good:
Custom boot animations seem to have issues on Samsung phones running touchwiz. Patches that fix these issues do seem to exist.
If I'm able to embed these patches into Boot Box, then these devices will also be fully supported
holy effing SS#IT!! this is amazing!!! the nexus bios boot ani is by far the coolest animation ive ever seen or used on any of my devices... absolutely beautiful !

Very nice, I am using a workaround for boot anis on this device(bootanimations4all) and this app works well. Would like to see an option to choose storage(cache) location though. On some devices (sammys) /storage/sd is still internal.
##edit## You may be able to work out incorporating that modd (with devs approval of course) into your apk. As I understand it, its a script that points to the/a .zip instead of the new .qbs thang.##

What device are you running? Thanks for the heads up! I'll look into it.
I'll work on alternative cache locations after I release v1.2, it's 99% done - users can now use Boot Box to make a static boot animation out of an image. If anybody would like to test this feature feel free to PM me
Definitely looking forward to more animations being uploaded. App itself looks very well made. Nice job.

Hey all, I've been doing a little messing around with boot animations for the A2.
For those who like the minimalist approach, attached is a simple boot animation where I just looped the stock pulsating motorola logo. I plan on putting together and posting some more elaborate ones when I get the chance.
To install (for those who are not familiar with the process):
1. copy bootanimation_moto_pulse.zip file to SD card
2. using Root Explorer (or the like) copy from SD card and paste to /system/media (make sure you mount r/w)
3. delete the current bootanimation.zip (make sure to save a copy on your SD card first, if you haven't already)
4. rename bootanimation_moto_pulse.zip to bootanimation.zip
5. mount r/o, exit Root Explorer, reboot, and watch the moto logo throb
Another note for the minimalists...
If you completely remove the bootanimation.zip file from the /system/media folder (or mis-spell the file name), you get the nice, clean, and simple default android boot animation..
Also, I think it boots a bit faster with nothing in the media folder...
-----------
Some other useful tools for the boot animakers out there:
-Boot Animation Preview 1.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676385 - lets you preview on your computer)
-Fotosizer (batch image converter/resizer/effecter.. for your computer, obviously - google it) (you can also actually do some batch ops with MS Office Picture Manager)
-Notepad++ (get rid of those pesky hidden spaces - remember to leave the blank line at the end!)
-ZArchiver app (allows for "store" type compression zip files on your phone - i use PeaZip on my PC, others use 7-Zip)
-Hot Boot option on your phone (it just reboots the Android UI only, and allows for a quicker way to check out the boot animation than a full reboot - i use Quick Boot Plus (i think there are other free options on the market)
Well, I have seen a lot of boot animations floating around - many here in various threads on xda, as well as elsewhere on the web - that were either made to fit our phone, resized to fit, or it just so happens that they work on our good ol' Mr. Edison...
That being said, I suggest that we start a collection thread for Atrix 2 boot animations with links or attachments, and for general "theming" related discussion... Maybe it will even attract some creative graphical talent for making custom boot anis with "Atrix 2" and/or "Edison" themes (hint, hint...)
Anyway, here's a few more attached...
___________
Attachments
bootanimation_mod0.zip is one I threw together from various boot animations and I'm not sure who to give credit to, though the final loop is the boot ani from SCV5 (which I think was borrowed anyway - seen it called machinazul) only flipped 180, color removed, resized and slowed down a tad..
bootanimation_bwscv5.zip is the full-length, full-size boot ani used on SCV5 (silver, and flipped)
bootanimation_gears.zip is by JaeKar99, I just rotated and resized it.
bootanimation_ginger.zip is Gingerbread Anatomy by Nottach with artwork by freeny (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076876). I did nothing to this file but find it, look at it, and rename it.
I've attached the original stock motorola/at&t boot animation (bootanimation_origatt.zip) for anybody who may have lost it. I've seen a few posts with people asking for it..
Also attached is what I believe to be the Droid RAZR boot animation with sound file (bootani&sound.zip) - just unzip the zip, stick both files in the /system/media folder and rename the zip (you do not need to include the sound file if you don't want sound)
bootanimation_trondroid0.zip has the Nexus Tron bikes animation (by unknown), but that was too short without a loop section, so I added the particle ring by Dysgenic
bootanimation_shine.zip is a simple android logo with foggy light shining through - don't recall where I found it
bootanimation_ics.zip - the ICS boot (this is the jpeg version - i have a much larger png version with higher quality, but it's too large to post and it seems too large to boot smoothly.. i may mess with it a little more)
bootanimation_stache.zip - see preview here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982286 - I just resized it (and lost the mortal kombat audio)
bootanimation_cm9.zip - CyanogenMod 9 boot ani thanks to Akilldema (see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511501 for previews and diff sizes/speeds - this is the one at 30 fps, you might want to try the 60 fps version)
Thanks! I love the tron!!!!!

Awesome animations!!! Thanks a ton
This link might be of some usefulness, or perhaps not. I don't know what the appropriate ratio size is for the Atrix 2, but there's several tabs at the top of this webpage for: 1280x720, 800x480, 960x540, etc. boot animation .zips! There's some pretty cool looking ones, as well as some novelty-type anims and others.

blue razr atrix 2 bootanimation
Want to make my own bootanimation for our A2, so thought itd be better to know how to go about it by modding an existing one
i like the droid razr one a lot, so tried editing it a bit.. Let me know what you guys think.. cheers
Download link with sound file:
1. Blue Razr with Sound
2. droidsm.ogg
Just copy-paste the bootanimation.zip and droidsm.ogg files to /system/media folder and change permissions to -rw-r--r-- and reboot.
Backup and remove the original bootanimation.zip from /system/media
Edit: the animation was going too fast, so just decreased the fps.
Edit2: Sound is working now, added it from the Razr M bootanimation, which ive posted a few posts down.

I'm doing something wrong or the boots animations doesn't work on stock roms?
I follow the instructions and always get only the "Android" word animation.

ok so its up and running......here goes the bug list/issues after the initial boot
1. Wifi - scans/stops......scans/stops.......this just repeats ** Fixed by flashing Harmony kernel (Rev3 aosp)
2. No multi language support.........(unless its in the extras zip which i will try just incase)
3. Dock works but onscreen android keyboard pops up when entering into a text field (no dock support in settings)
4. Reboot to recovery just reboots the TF normally
5. xtras zip aborted when trying to flash it
6. Fixed ** Flashed Asus keyboard zip to fix language pack and dock layout
7. Android keyboard still comes on screen when entering a text field whether dock is selected or not.
8. Picky little things - Circle battery indicator never worked - wifi indicator partly covered by battery level indicator on status bar.
Its fast and smooth, just needs a fix for the dock users
I,ll edit as i go along
I had the same wifi issues as scotty. Glad to hear that the Harmony kernel fixed the problem.
Reboot to recovery didn't work. It just did a regular reboot.
I also had the extras package abort when I tried to flash it.
It'd be nice to have a file manager preinstalled, but that's not too big of a deal.
I really liked the boot animation.

This is a very fast rom and the transitions are very smooth. Im having all the same bugs as scotty but so far quite impressed. Cheers
EDIT: The wifi indercator bug can be fixed by going to Settings/interface/statusbar/signal and ticking hide signal (lol no idea why)
EDIT 2: *Cant flash xtras zip via the recovery in settings because it cant verify md5 checksum.
* Settings force close when entering the toggle order menu
Im the developer of this, im trying to get the softkeyboard to not pop up, i use harmonys kernel as well working on getting it built into the rom. dont worry about extras they were not built for tf101.
whats the problem with the dock layout?

This was my setup
Down loaded rom through goo.im app(has built in md5 checksum) straight to TF101
rebooted to recovery(TWRP 2.2)
verified mounts
wiped(factory reset, cache, dalvik)
installed liquid rom, kernel of choice(Raymon33's harmony or Guevor's 22.6 AOKP), and other mods. (one right after the other no reboots in between)
rebooted system
began setup and signed in.
downloaded titanium backup root from the play store
restored all my apps
gave permissions to all apps requiring root to run through Superuser
Finished setup
Rebooted to recovery
wiped cache and Dalvik
rebooted so all apps can optimize with the google server.
This worked for me, hope this helps!
Glad to see Team Liquid is now available on my TF101 AND working on a JB release (which is what I'm running on my Nexus).
One thing to think about is the "Quick Apps" shortcut in the NavBar. Megatron has this and is super fantastic. With JB, Home(hold) launches like a quick app tray which only links to Google Now... it would be nice (and I'm sure someone will get around to it) to have multiple apps in there.
Hi Team Liquid,
Have you already got a working kernel to be compatible with JellyBean ?
If not, I may assist you in these things and provide ramdisk fixes.
If yes,I would like to discuss a few things with the devs responsible for the tf101.
Either way we should help each other if you are willing to.
Please let me know if you are interested in collaborating.

In my country better to use internet instead of MMS to send pictures, for example. Internet is cheaper than MMS here. Also, not many people use it. So i decided to disable it.
Added list of deleted apps in the second post
New official firmware for I9105. At first I'll make a build for I9105P based on I9105PXXUBMI3 I9105PXWUBML1. Later I'll make it for my device based on new FW.
With all my respect and congrats on your work and development skills I have to say that:
When you developing something, don't develop it JUST FOR YOU or YOUR COUNTRY.
Or if you do post it in android forums only for your country.
Think about it. How I'm gonna use YOUR rom with disabled MMS, because in YOUR country MMS are not cheap. That will never happen.

Or see it like this:
HE develops something HE wants to have. After he did he decides to share with you, because it maybe could be useful. If you don't like you don't need to flash anything, but if the developer likes it how he does it is his decision and not yours, because you only use the stuff he made.

I planned to not disable MMS in build for I9105P. But, you right. I'll get it back in the next build for I9105.
But, as I said earlier, my tasks now are make a build for I9105P and rebuild a rom for I9105 on the latest firmware. More tweaks will be in future.
Added I9105P support. New versions in first message. See features and changelog.
I really liked the tilt effect of samsung's launcher can you make an option in AROMA to enable/disable tilt effect?? It would be great
EDIT: Coming from CM 11. Made a fresh install of your rom for I9105P, it boots till the Samsung's Logo with phone name and after that the screen is black and doesn't want to start up. I even left it 10 minutes and nothing

I'll make it later. About the second. CM11 has another kernel, which is incompatible with stock ROM. I didn't include kernel in ExSlim because I made no changes in it. So, when you flash my ROM, you still have CM11 kernel that's why it doesn't boot. I wrote in first post that you have to be on 4.2.2. So, I think I need to include stock kernel in next build.
Good thing there.

It will be, of course. But now I cannot say the date of next release, sorry.
I finally made the time to put together an Aroma of a handful of my own creations along with some of my favorites! You will have the ability to enable custom Boot Animations for those running stock Roms. This mod will also install the ever so difficult to create "qmg" shutdowns! For the people running the newest Missing Link, you've seen most, but not all of what is here. Added a couple of boots and shutdowns.
New version added support to many newer Samsung devices running MM Only!
CONFIRMED SUPPORTED DEVICES
Galaxy S6
Galaxy S6 Edge
Galaxy S7
Galaxy S7 Edge
Note 4
Note 5
Note 7
AROMA BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION PICKER!! OVER 40 BOOT, 26 SHUTDOWN ANIMATIONS and 45 BOOT SPLASH IMAGES TO PICK FROM
The mod enables the use of "Custom ZIP" animations instead of the QMG animations giving you a much larger selection, even beyond this mod!! If you want to go back to QMG animations, simply just use a file manager with root access and navigate to system/media and delete the "bootanimation.zip" then reboot. Done, you will be back to the original QMG bootanimation your rom had prior to running this mod. Enjoy!!

THE QUICK GUIDE TO CREATING YOUR OWN BOOT ANIMATIONS"because I can feed you fish and you're good for the night or teach you to fish and you'll be good forever!!"
I have enjoyed boot animations since I started messing around with phones. I finally felt comfortable enough to start making my own and this is how i did it:
1 - First is you need an animation such as a video clip or gif whatever. I personally like them to be less than 30 seconds with the main focal part about 10 secs. By that time the phone has started up.
2 - then you need to extract the frames/convert using infanview or similar app, to image format, jpg is smaller, png is better quality and some just plain look better this way. Using Irfanview in the "options" menu click "extract all frames" then you can fine tune using "file" menu "batch conversion/rename" option
3 - download Boot Animation Factory and thank the dev for such a great tool for previewing and creating Boot Animations. From there the app will take you to creating the bootanimation.zip file needed for your phone.
4 - Then it's just a matter of getting it to where it needs to be. You can check my thread here which gives all the the different locations for various phones store the file for manual installs. There is also the "flashable zips" and "the Aroma Installer" for multiple options!
5 - last thing is to give thanks and credit where it's due and share your wonderful new creations with all of us here on XDA!!! Thank you
that is a very quick run down of how I am making Boot Animations today
*****BOOT ANIMATIONS PREVIEWS*****
This is set of boot animations I have either created or collected from all creative minds here at XDA.
The flashable zips are confirmed ONLY for Sprint's (Galaxy S2) E4GT right now!! testers welcome? Should be compatible with Samsung device's that use "bootsamsung.qmg" and "bootsamsungloop.qmg" files stored in /system/media. Just get the flashable.zip files here and flash via recovery
This link will get you to my original post with directions for installs, downloads for previews, bootanimation.zip files and flashable zips (these are made to support Samsung qmg bootanimation)
Direct downloads here for manual install of bootanimation.zip file
Previews here
Flashable zips here
These are made to support Samsung "qmg" bootanimations, specifically for the device I am on E4GT (Sprint's S2). IT'S UNTESTED ON ANY OTHER PHONES!! IF ANYONE WITH A SAMSUNG PHONE THAT HAS THE "QMG" LOCKED BOOT WOULD TEST LET ME KNOW THAT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
I have to thank all of the XDA community for these animation and support over the years!!! Please enjoy

This bootaniation flasher works fine if I don't preview more than 3 or 4 of the animations, after
that the aroma installer just freezes.
When that happens the only way to get the phone back to normal is to boot it into recovery or
download mode.
Seems the more time spent in the aroma installer, the more likely that the phone will freeze.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

It should work, but the resolution is set for 1440x2560 so they might not show properly. The mod should still enable the use of custom zips and then you could adjust the individual animation as you see fit. PM me if you have questions. Thankd
UPDATE: First off thank you to everyone for the support and patience. I know the v1 had some "double option choices" and a few animations didn't work. I have went through and tested further and confirm they work now. I also added a couple more choices. I still need to work on the "previews" for some of them, about half are done right now. If the previews aren't available to view during recovery they are most likely available in the OP. Again thank you for your patience!!

I had originally ruled "Sprint" out and I believe I even posted in the OP not supporting Sprint devices?
Question then, Did you manually insert the bin files and bootanimation zip or did the Aroma work for you?
If you can supply me with the "Stock" anims I will update and include them. Thanks again. Take care!!

Hi, thanks for this great mod, but is there anyway we could get the green matrix code raining down. or barring that a walkthrough of how to add custom animations to your installer?
Edit: It was actually pretty easy to replace one of yours with a custom animation. Finally got my matrix code. Props man, your installer is the only way i could finally get it. Every other method i tried left me with a black bootscreen.
hi
ive used this on the RSRv5 rom on my 902s and all i get is a blank boot screen followed by a green with white cogs showin loading apps
any ideas

Fontio is a all purpose font packager for android. No root is required, instead it uses theme engines as a passage to install fonts to the systems. It packages font files (TTF/OTF) at runtime within the app itself to provide one of these packages:
1. Substratum Theme
2. CMTE Theme
3. Flashable Zip
1. Substratum Theme
● To install a substratum theme you need to have a ROM with OMS commits.
● If you are using Substratum Legacy packaging font as a substratum theme will show a blank screen.
● Legacy users can opt-in for 3rd option (i.e.: flashable zip)
● These substratum themes will also not work on Developer Preview versions, AGAIN (3rd option) if you have a TWRP/CWM recovery.
2. CMTE Theme
● These themes work on ROMs which have CyanogenMod Theme Engine only.
● Thus in ROMs 6.0 and below upto Jelly Bean and not 7.0+ ROMs.
3. Flashable Zip
● This is sort of like a universal solution for changing your font.
● As a wise man said “If you got a recovery you can flash a zip”. And he was not talking about stock recoveries.
-------------------------
| Usage |
-------------------------
● Select a ttf/otf file from storage. OR Select font from "Font Store".
● Package the font into substratum/cmte readable pack or flashable zip.
● Install the pack.
● Enjoy !!
Fontio v3 Video Preview:
This video demonstrates all the features of this app including premium feature (Read more below
Fontio Premium Features:
● Have full control over packaging fonts
● Select different fonts for different font type
● Share and request fonts between all Fontio users
● Mix and match multiple fonts in single package
● Save your font configuration locally

Really like this app, but I dont have credit card for premium features, any chance to promo codes giveaway?
There was a problem with the CMTE (APK) version during installation. So I've used the flashable file. Nice app, thank you for this one! Just a little suggestion, it'd be nice if the font's file name in font store, is the preview of the font.

Hey Geddd, can tell if you are using L or M ROM for CMTE. I might be able to fix it so that you won't have to reboot your device again and again.
I'm working on the preview of the Font store, you'll have an option to enable the preview in settings, since it'll hog storage on low end devices this might be the best option.
Any additional information will be gem.
Great work
P.S. Typo in substratum theme description, 3rd point, ...(i.e.: flushable zip). You mean flashable zip right!? It's also present on play store description.

unfortunately right now i can't build any font for substratum, it crashes just after i select "Substratum" and it starts building. is it a problem of my rom/setup?
i'm on DU 11.5, rootless OMS.

There is no malware (in fact there is no code at all in the theme package to call it even a software) and because it's compiled on your device and is not packaged using standard SDKs, it may be stated as virus.

Thanks man, this so space saving font app. It worked well for me. But people on playstore keeps complaining about the "downloading previews" they don't seem to see the fonts gallery when swiping trough the right because there is no indication or instruction to swipe right to see or search fonts.
