Same problem to me also. Thats why I flash official ICS rom and then just root it. So that I can use all the apps that need root permission.
I think installing official ics would be more great if you want to use all the features of the phone, like 3D camera and 3D games. In the custom ROM 3D features will not work.

I think he means to say any ROMs based on Jellybean do not have full 3D function. ICS ROMs do have it.
If LG ever releases official JB for P920/P925 or Su760 our devs will have custom JB ROMs with full 3D lickety-split!
OR
When our devs are successful in making it work, JB will have full 3D.
My bets are on our devs...
If I was holding my breath for LG, I'd be p..p..pass..s..s..s.iiiiinngggg.....ooouuutttt by now....
.....ZZzzZZzzzz .....ZZzzzzzzz .....zzzzZZzzz
P.S. there are also ICS ROMs that are made to LOOK like JB.

It will crash when something improperly installed... I had this issue too... make sure to do a factory reset and format /system within CWM before flashing, and wipe dalvik... when I don't wipe system I seem to run into issues also
My sig has a good CWM as well, same one I use

Flashing CM10

Hi all,
I'm still fairly new to the rooting scene but am eager to flash Bruce's CM10 build currently in the developer section? Is there anything special I must do before I flash his rom? I am still on ICS firmware and running Venom 1.1.
Thank you,
Ryan
Im guessting that you are still unrooted. You will need to be s-off and rooted to flash cmx. Thee are tutorials all over the forums and on YouTube. Im away from my computer right now or else I would link you.

No. Nothing special.
If you're running Venon ICS you should be set up properly.
Just don't use Superwipe script to clear before flashing. Use the format all partitions except SD card option in 4EXT instead.
Be sure to make a backup of your Venom ROM first. CM10 is very much a Beta build. While it works pretty darn well, there are some quirks. You might not like it enough to keep it so make a backup.

All right. Thank you very much!
On a side not, because I am curious, how come I don't have to upgrade my firmware to run Jelly Bean. Changing from Gingerbread to ICS I had to go through a whole process of downloading something I still don't understand.

First off...don't flash something you don't understand. Take the time to understand it. I promise it will pay off in the long run. As you understand more you'll be able to create your own combinations of different elements to really customize your ROM. Though fair warning, it's easy to get carried away and become a full fledged flashaholic!
Second, you don't need to upgrade firmware for JB because it's very similar to ICS. They work on the same firmware. Gingerbread was VERY different from ICS and the firmware was not interchangeable.

Couple of questions, new member and user of atrix 2

Hi guys, im new in the site as ive bought an atrix 2 yesterday, and i have a few queries regarding the ics update. I havent updated to ics yet.
1) should i download the 10 free ea games before updating or after?
2) how do i use a music file from the sd card as a ringtone?
Welcome Night Wing!
First I would recommend updating to ICS before installing any other apps.
Second, in whatever music app you use, long press on a song and you should get an option to select it as your ringtone.
Welcome to the club. Be sure to read all the stickies mate!
Or you can drop it in the Ringtones folder on your sdcard... reboot, and you should see it in the ringtones selection in Settings.
You might have to trim it down if it's a big audio file.. not sure
Sent from my phone's mind
I updated to ICS (OTA) the day it was released and it was nothing but trouble for me (I have a thread about it). After about a month of dealing with issues AT&T sent me a replacement phone. It's gingerbread and I'm leaving it that way.
That is my personal experience though, I'm sure there are others that have had success or I wouldn't think the update would still be available. If you do update, I'd be very curious to hear about your results.

I have a version ofjims rom, its really nice, but its, unfortunatly, out of straight utter respect, unavailable..... otherwise......
I recomend majicmod.... ONLY INSTALLED THROUGH ATRIX BOOTSTRAP and any overclock.... added once installed.... or wangs cm10.... there are bugs but the lack of motorola crap rocks these phones.....

I've serious lag issues and sometimes even reboots on the stock ics. (never had any on GB)! I seriously wanna try a custom rom which is fast and snappy! I wanted to check out cm10 but it still has too many bugs. Other option is Scv7 now. Which 1 is recommended (if other good roms which are stable without bugs, do mention) ?

i tried every single ics rom ,and found that CM roms have too many bugs for me to have it for daily mostly camera issues, miui roms have real great potential but batt is really wierd, swiftytrix is by far the most stable (in my experience) plus is batt friendly, but ill stay with scv7, fast and smooth just love it , even without init.d support available

2.3.6 VictoryRom -> ?

Hi Guys,
I'm currently on 2.3.6 VictoryRom v1.1 which new ROM has ICS and will give me the best performance?
Will it be as simple as installing from .zip using clockwork?
Thanks for the help!

To use ICS roms you have to upgrade to ICS first.
As for roms, it's all personal opinion what is best. If HDMI/lapdock support isn't essential for you, I would recommend CM10.

Cm10 roms are not stable.you can update to stock pics and root your phone.then pimp it(using pimpmyrom) free in play store.

Uhh..no CM10 is actually really stable. There are a couple really minor bugs left.. but it's Jelly Bean so it's smooth as butter (project butter) and is well worth the tiny bugs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869692
yeah, cm10 is very stable.. no random reboots or anything for me.. sure it has a few bugs, but nothing to stop you from using it as your daily driver. Actually what keeps making me go back to cm10 is that its so friggin smooth and ofcourse the little customisations you can do and themes..
For the OP, I dunno much about the GB roms, but id recommend both cm10 and and magicmod with performance and customisations in mind and that they are JB based
If you want full functionality, then all the ICS roms are good, just read thru the threads for the ROMs and devs description and screenshots and try the one according to need.. the latest one is numa and the first one is SCV7 which still is one of the best roms for our phone on ICS. If you ask me, you'll know which one to use only after youve flashed enough
Also remember to read the devs description of the ROM and how to flash properly, cause you need to use different recoveries for different ROMs. So better if you read up as much as you can. Do keep a backup of your stock ICS on ur sdcard, (i have like 3 now stock, cm10, numa) but you know how it goes, since youre already on a ROM..
Mostly youre gonna love your phone more after you get on ICS and flash one of the ICS and JB roms. Happy flashing !
EDIT: i missed it, but better if you post questions in the Q&A thread..
Thanks for the reply. I'll try CM10.
When installing ICS, will all I need to do is install .zip Blur_Version.55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US.zip? for ICS leak#1 or will I have to downgrade first?

I have never used CM, don't know if the camera works upside down ou not, but I know CM doesn't have 3D capabilities yet.
I mean 3D recording (video/foto), 3D viewing (video/foto) and 3D playing (games).
As for the ICS roms, I'm with Acura v3.1 rom now and the back camera works perfect in 2D. In 3D the preview is upside down, but the recorded/saved image is ok. The front camera doesn' work (produces force close).
Amm acura 3.1 with no 2d camera bugs and long battery life ?

you mean to say that you have an ics veraion installed where the only problem with the 3d cam is upside down preview? no left-right inverted on the stereo image? as far as I know all ics roms produce a 3d image where the left and right images are inverted with the right image appearing on the left side and vice versa (well sort of but my english won't allow me a better description)

P920 Custom Rom Issues

Good day all I have a Problem that I can not resolve or I am doing something wrong. I had a Sony Play before and flashing Rom on it was a breeze, but i have got myself a lg Optimus 3D and seem to be difficult. When I am on a rooted gingerbread Rom with cwm touch installed everything is working. My Sim card is working and I have no random shutdowns. I have installed a couple of Roms on my phone and all have the same problem. What I have installed is the Walkman Rom, Miui v5 3.6.7 and Miui v5 3.3.29. All have the same problem . When I did is a factory reset, clear cache and install Rom everything works. When I load up the newly installed Rom I have random reboots and my Sim is not detected. About 5 minutes into using Rom it freezes for about 5 seconds then the screen turns black and to get it back on I have to do a battery pull. I have tried with ICS Rom but get boot loop. Can someone help me with this issue that I am have problems with. Thanks for you time.

OK thanks for the ics tutorial very helpful. But don't mean to sound like a newbie but how can i solve the problem with my installed custom Roms not working?? Or will this work to with customs jellybean Roms . Thanks again for you helpfulness and time.
Chrisdzie
For ICS based ROMs to work you first need to install ICS.That explains the bootloop. Normally you can't jump from GB to an ICS ROM. The guide shows you how to do that. Then you can choose XBSA ROM or whatever working one you like.
I have not used CM based ROMs, as 3D has not been made to work in these (there is no official LG JB for this phone yet). So, I am not sure about the install process for those.

There's no shame of being a newbie everyone was once a newbie before they become masters.
Well before I have installed jellybam v 7.8.0 which is a jellybean based Rom. Loved the options and worked fine, but after a day or two my internal storage became full and phone freezed up and unresponsive. Did research and found out that it was a bug. I installed that through official GB Rom. So I went back, then tried to install miui v5 and then walkman but they have the same shutdown and sim not detected issues. People with those Roms installed don't seem to have those issues. So you can see where I am confused. Thanks
