[Q] Wallpaper Creation - HTC Desire S

Hey XDA'ers,
I was just wondering if any of you know how to create wallpapers specifically designed for the Desire S. The current resolution I have (googled and found out I should use this, i think) is 980x856 or 980x850. Anyway, I want to design a wallpaper like PieUI, as follows :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
See how the widgets fit right underneath the colored lines? I want to make a wallpaper like that for my Desire S. I'm not sure how to figure out Android grid sizes in Photoshop, so any help on doing so would be amazing. Might be nice to mention I want to do it for 3 Homescreens, if that makes any difference.
Thanks people, hope I was clear in my question. (I searched for threads on how to do this, but I couldn't find anything that explained it properly)
Peace!

Why don't you take a screenshot on the central home screen with some stuff on it and then use it as an under-layer for your design in photoshop, then remove it before saving your final version?

From what I remember, and I'm sure someone else will pipe up if I'm wrong, the screen of the DS is 480 wide by 800 high. When I used wallpapers compatible for scrolling they needed to be 960 wide by 800 high - 480 pixels in the centre for the main screen and 240 each side for the scrolling.

I thought about the pixel size when it went to landscape, i wasn't sure what the scrolling sizes needed to be (i just doubled the width, hoping it was right lol) I'm still messing about with wallpapers, trying to get a wallpaper/UCCW theme going on here. Proving to be a hassle, but ill get it Thanks for confirming the sizes man.

Also, can you post me the original 3G animated gif file?
I'm trying to change my splash screen and the startup animation. So far I haven't been successful. I got this one worked:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However it only cover half the size of my screen... that's why I want to try a VGA animated gif... to see if it makes the different.
I only have one question - can you use GIFs as animated wallpapers?
I don't have my TP with me right now so I can't try...
If yes then I would start looking for some gifs

you would buy a phone just for that?
The answer is yes, you can put a gif as wallpaper, but it's not going to move. I don't even have try to be able to answer you that. Why would you want a moving background anyway? It's annoying

I think he already has the phone and he just asked a question. It might be annoying to you but to other people including me moving backgrounds would be nice to have (as long as it isnt a Panda doing kung fu) lol

I think you got the wrong idea... the animation is for the boot screen, not your background
Anyway, like I said, I gave up on this idea already, because it's too hard to find a VGA gif that fit my phone and it's kinda confusing. This is the one from Lantis ROM and the setting
here's a CIA one i found...
i done with this your right.... 5hrs i will never get back
I made these.
I made these use regitry editor an go to somthing like local machine software htc animation change windows direcory name to same name has gif or wav and place folder in root of windows on ppc.

Nice 800x480 wallpaper set

This is a set of wallpapers that I've prepared.
Whilst these wallpapers are based on images from sites such as InterfaceLIFT, I have modified them by resizing and recolouring them to fit nicely with the Touch Diamond2 (or any other 800x480 device).

Cool, great selection/editing
I especially like the two Nebulas.
They're great, thanks. I was litereally just on the hunt for a topic with wallpapers...
Well there are many more wallpapers floating around these forums but thanks for the feedback!
Cool
But why i can not download
Sorry, should be working now.
Nice collections.. thanks mate
This are very nice backgrounds!
Thank you from belgium
Jeppe
nice, thank you
You know, the biggest problem with backgrounds is that they make the text on-screen harder to read. So whilst they provide a little eye-candy, they actually make your phone harder to use and reduce its functionality.
Wait, that reminds me of TF3D.......
Very nice package, a big problem is that when we set picture for our bg from wallpaper in settings, picture will be bigger than normal size!
I don't know why!

Haha, well I agree that some parts of TF3D are nicer looking than they are functional. But I did endevour to provide some darker wallpapers that don't make the text on the TF3D home screen so hard to read.

The main problem is the big resolution. A lots of 240*320 walls are available over the net but 480*800 is not a popular one. If we could set 240*320 walls without being 'Tiled' then we didn't have look for a 480*800 walls. Why a small wallpaper doesn't get stretched?

[Q]How do I set wallpapers without croping?

I have this wallpaper that I found somewhere:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I want it to be my wallpaper just like it looks, but when I set it the phone forces me to crop it and I wind up with this:
How can I get the full image as a background so that its not zoomed in or cropped?
I was wondering the same thing ... I seems that you can't unless you put your wallpaper in the same destination the default ones are located which will make it like a stock one ....
Waiting for more experienced opinion ...
Hey man. I know what you mean it can be annoying. The reason why it asks you to crop is because of your phone's resolution or whatever, it can only show so much. What you could try is "PicSPEED Wallpapers" from the market. Download it. Then when you set a wallpaper (from your gallery) a new option to custom crop the iage will appear and you can freely manipulate what is shown as the wallapaper

no that's not correct....
I have the stock GB wallpapers and stil have to crop them when set as wallpapers...
Most wallpapers apps are crap low quality stuff...Plus tons of crap adds...
It asks you to crop because it slides the image over a little while changing home screens (for a static wallpaper). I don't believe there is a setting in the stock launcher to change that. What you generally want is a square, 800px tall and 800px wide, with the image you want in the middle. Then you enlarge the crop to the entire image, and voila.
I use "wallpaper set and save"
On market sets wallpaper without quality lose
Edit nvrmind stretches image

I used few of your pictures... Really amazing. Thanks a lot. But the problem is when I use it as a lock screen wallpaper I'm able to see alternating bands of varying brightness in the blackish area other than the coloured picture. But when I use the same picture as the wallpaper I don't have any problem. Can anyone solve my problem?

Native DPI Scaling

Found this post in the regular Verizon S7 section thanks to @jayochs. Cool little hidden feature and seems to work great so far. This will change the DPI from 640(stock) to about 540dpi. I'll show a few examples below, but the article will show even more and tell you how to do it.
Check out the XDA article located here :

I am used to altering DPI with root access, so this find was a godsend.
You can alter DPI through ADB without root access, btw.
This is good though. Could go lower though. I have text size at the lowest settings and turned this on. The notification bar is still a little too big.
Not sure if its worth screwing with though
I did this with Nova Launcher and I really like it. Definitely helping the S7 edge grow on me a little more.
I did this with Nova launcher as well but it didn't seem to stick for the touch wiz launcher. Everything else is condensed
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
I really wish they had a Super Condensed mode. I'd like to run it around 500.
I do like having this to be able to quickly (with one reboot) toggle back to a density that will allow Samsung Pay to work.
After doing this with Nova Launcher I noticed that I don't have smooth scrolling when I hit the recents button
Just FYI to those who don't know... you can change your DPI through ADB without root.
I feel the condensed mode and already low stock DPI is enough.
The 7 Edge has 5.5" @ 640 DPI
The LG G4 has 5.5" @ 640 DPI
The Note 5 has 5.7" @ 540 DPI
Add condensed mode and its smaller. So I am happy with the stock/condensed values.
Doing this also kills android pay which socks, I want to reduce DPI but still use android pay
I switched to condensed DPI and Android Pay is working for me still.
Edit: Nevermind. Tried adding a card to it and says nope.. :\
HBO GO working for anyone else after changing dpi?
