Thanks for the guide, worked well. I could not get ES filemanager to delete apk's so used twrp in recovery and used twrp file manager to delete files. No need to apologise for english, the guide's language is excellent!
Keith

Info
To delete,paste,etc... system partition with ES filemanager you need to set permision in the app ==>settings==>Root Explorer==>Mount R/W==>select R/W for all.

Radio works fine. It does keep shutting down when changing settings but I can live with that. When I press ABOUT button it reports version 2.3 even tho I have installed 3.1. I used ES explorer {set the rw permissions in settings} to install apk and it reported 3.1 installation overwrite ok. Should I uninstall 2.3 before installing 3.1?
many thanks for guide

Yes I did. Did everything from the tutorial. Also, other file explorers failed to copy files to system/app. On every other file explorer,i made sure that it was mounted as RW
EDIT: The problem was that there wa no room in system, so i uninstalled few games that came with software and copied the files. But couldn't install FmRxApp3.1.apk. Help

Try latest apk 3.2.3 and delete your old fm apk dont install just copy paste set permision reboot

the latest 3.2.3 in flashable zip

It works, but turns silent after some seconds. I have to tip the speaker symbol to get sound for some seconds again...and so on.

[ROM][17/11][Updated] Custom GB V21A Lite ROM by c.o.h. Fast, Smooth & Problemless!!!
Here is my brand new custom ROM based on the SECOND leaked Android 2.3.5 GB ROM (V21A) with a lot of modifications such as:
Fully DEODEXED and ZIPALIGNED!
Added FM Radio!
Kept LG launcher, added ADW Launcher (Now you choose which one to use ).
Removed some battery consuming LG Apps (Application Manager, LG PC sync, on screen phone, Battery widget, remote call etc..)
Removed unnecessary sytem apps (Today tips etc.)
NEW Google Nexus Bootanimation (Removed startup and shutdown sound).
NEW Framework with Batterymod and new font (Sonysketch), removed Notification toggles from the notification bar (Music toggles can also be removed from music app setting) etc...
Alternative frameworks (See attachments),
3D Games and some of the widgets such as LG weather, SNS etc. kept.
Added a new 3D game; Archercraft.
Added 3D photo program; Phereo.
Added adblocker "Adfree" (for blocking ads in ad supported apps).
Added QuickPic for fast wallpaper change.
Added evernote with widgets and removed richnote (much better).
Added Adao file manager.
Added latest version of sytem apps such as Youtube, Maps...etc.
Latest video enabled Gtalk (front cam has problem however).
Added mobiscan QR for barcode scanning.
Added CsipSimple for voip.
Fixed Superuser with the latest SU binary
Rebooter doesn't boot into recovery in LG GB based roms, so i removed it. Use "ROM manager" for this.
and more....
Around 260 MB of RAM free after the first install including all the vital apps!
I don't take any responsibility for any problem! You do take the risk and use this ROM by yourself.
You need to install the O3D baseband for GB before starting!
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331814
You don't need to install the GB baseband again if you already have it installed.
Instructions to install:
1. Download and extract the zip from:
http://www.multiupload.com/8S760WAO70
and put the folder named "2011-11-17.19.30.21" into your external memory--> /_ExternalSD/clockworkmod/backup
MD5 Hash values:

cab39fbc608074a34d7ab955492d3993 .android_secure.vfat.tar
2. Enter the recovery by holding 3D button and Vol+ while booting the phone.
3. Wipe data/factory reset.
4. Wipe dalvik cache.
5. Format system from "mounts and storage" menu
6. Restore the folder 2011-11-17.19.30.21 (downloaded and extracted file) via CWM-->backup and restore-->Restore.
7. Reboot and enjoy the currently fastest O3D Gingerbread 2.3.5 ROM V21A fixed!
8. Press thanks button if you like it
Problems:
Some reports having problems regarding market and gtalk. I never had this problem but if you have it just uninstall gtalk and market ( first backup them via Titanium backup), restart, then reinstall them (again using Titanium backup with option install app only, not app+data). The problem will be fixed.
For the Hybrid ICS settings and some more related to ICS download the attched apk and push it to /system/app (it has a problem for showing battery consume data though )
To revert default notification toggles, use the attached cwm zip
To revert default fonts, use the attached cwm zip
Note: I don't use cwm flashable zip in this version as it causes some non-specific problems. I use cwm restore folders instead as i can also tweak settings, etc (You need an sd card though to install it). So this version doesn't have any problems and is tweaked further
Screenshots:
Going to try this Quick question, when you say it wont be done until a few hours, whats in the zip file you link to to flash? Or is that an older ROM?
It seems you gave a link to your previous ROM. When I tried to download it my download manager said it's already done. File name is coh_lite_O3D_GB_v2.2.zip, is it right?

The current version of Spirit FM Free [March25] is not allowing to save even a single preset and the overall media volume is reducing drastically when Sprit FM is launched. Have to reboot the phone in order to fix the volume issue.
I have LG-P509 with CM 7, RC1-Thunderg-KANG (from mod version), running Android 2.3.5.
Here is one radio app that works on my phone, its from the CM7 mod. I believe its from the same link posted by AmeriKan47. You can try and see if it works:
2shared.com/file/abbX7IVU/FM_radio-CM.html (copy paste, I cant post links yet)
Steps, you can use Super Manager (free) to do this:
- Copy the apk file to your systems/apps folder
- set permissions to 0:0 (root:root), and rw,r,r for permissions (user, group, world)
- reboot phone
- Radio app should now show up in your apps collection.
Sadly it doesn't have a "seek" function so you have to manually tune the radio. It can only save 5 stations.
I've tried a lot of other apps but they haven't worked:
- original radio app that I had in my stock ROM: Copying that over to /system/apps, fixing the permissions still shows the file as "No install". The same method works for the app linked. Download link for this one: 2shared.com/file/lEQ9vPcv/FmRadio.html
- Various other radio apps for this same phone linked on different forums: Also did not work.
The author of Spirit FM radio has reduced the functions of the free app. There's a $3 and a $10 one on the market.
I've been trying to get the stock app working but no success. I tried reboots, wiped the caches, fixed permissions etc.

Enyway the app doesn't start at all and when i go to app manager the app seems to have 0,0 B total, app, usb storage app, data, sd card . What shoud i do ? Please help

Although this is an old thread, the OP has a P500 Optimus One, not a G3. There is no setting to update apps on stock 2.3.3 for the LG Optimus One P500.

[APP] Google Now APK/ZIP for ICS [ARMv7]

Requirements:
Follow the simple instructions here.
You must be on Ice Cream Sandwich.
You MUST be rooted
You must be on a deodexed ROM. If you aren't sure, ask your chef.
You should be running a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM) or Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP). I use CWM, so this guide is based on that.
Your device must be using ARMv6 or v7 CPU architecture. If you aren't sure what that is, check this thread.
You must have a file explorer that has root permissions. I use ES File Explorer, so this guide is based on that.
You need at least 60MB of system space for the full offline installation. (30MB for online only version) If you don't know how to check, simply download Titanium Backup from the market. It tells you right on the main screen.
ARMv7 INSTRUCTIONS:
Download whichever file you want and flash it in recovery.
File descriptions:
Online only zip is for those of you who need to save /system space. It removes the offline voice files, so that offline voice dictation does not work. You must always have some sort of data connection for this type of zip.
Offline/Online zip is for those with no /system space restrictions. It contains the full Google Now package with offline voice dictation.
APK only is for those who have already flashed a zip. You may simply push the new apk to /system/app (overwrite or remove the previous version), set permissions to rw-r-r (0644), and reboot to enjoy the latest version of Google Now. DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL THE APK BY ITSELF.
If you aren't sure which one to use, or if this is too much information or is otherwise overwhelming for you, just flash the M7 version - Offline/Online, since it's the latest. Be sure to scroll down a bit and read about it, though.
Before doing anything, you need to make sure you have at least 60MB of free space on your /system partition for Offline/Online files and 30MB of free /system space for Online Only files.
Flashable Zips:
M7 - mikeyxda's version 7. This version improves on M6 by tweaking notifications to be more accurate and frequent. This version may use more battery. If you are using a Sense ROM, see the troubleshooting below for a hack to improve Google Now performance and battery efficiency.
Online/Offline via Mediafire - 36.48MB /Hotfile mirror
Online Only via Mediafire - 14.06MB /Hotfile mirror
M7-Velvet.apk Only
M6 - Mikeyxda's version 6. This version has improved on the previous one by fixing the double take problem, typed searches are working, auto launch is fixed, as well as the following fixes from the previous version: Red mic with cards showing with no refresh needed, no FCs, offline dictation, and no stretched words. These zips all use zipalligned apks.
Offline/Online via Mediafire - 36.43MB /Hotfile mirror
Online only via Mediafire - 14.01MB /Hotfile mirror
M6-Velvet.apk Only
R3 - "Nearly there" version by ReekoTubbs. This version has the Red mic with cards showing with no refresh needed, no double take, no FCs, offline dictation, auto-launch, no blank screen, and no stretched words. These zips all use zipalligned apks.
Offline/Online via Mediafire - 36.48MB /Hotfile mirror
Online only via Mediafire - 14.07MB/Hotfile mirror
R3-Velvet.apk Only
How to:
Move the file you picked to the root of your SD card. Don't put it in any folder. This just makes it easier to find.
Reboot your device into recovery. See your device's specific instructions on how to do this if you are not sure. Google it for a faster answer.
In CWM, navigate to "Install zip from SD" and select that.
Next, highlight "Choose zip from SD card" and select it.
Scroll down to the Google Now zip you loaded onto your SD card, then select it.
Scroll down and select the option that says "Yes - Install Google Now....zip"
Once it has flashed, go back to the main CWM menu and select "Reboot system now".
Double Checking:
Some Recoveries do not do a good job of retaining the permissions being set by the zips. If you aren't using CWM or TWRP, then please follow these steps to ensure that everything is as it should be.
Let the ROM boot all the way, then fire up ES File Explorer (or whichever one you feel like using). We need to make sure a few permissions stuck (just in case).
If you haven't used ES File Explorer before, open it, then hit menu.
Tap settings, then scroll all the way down.
Check the box that says "Up to Root" (pic).
Then check the box that says "Root Explorer"
Allow root access when the dialogue box for Superuser pops up.
After that, check off "Mount file system", then back out of the menu. (pic)
Navigate to /system/usr/srec/ and find two folders named "config" and "en-US"
Tap and hold on the "config" folder icon to bring up the options menu, then scroll down to Properties.
Tap properties, then tap change and see if the check boxes match this picture.
If it matches, leave it alone and head back to your home screen to enjoy using Google Now! If it doesn't match, change it so it does.
Do the same thing for the "en-US" folder.
Go into the settings menu for Google Now and set it up for your Google account and various other settings.
Now What?
So, you flashed Google Now. You're wondering what you can do with it, right? Well, thankfully, Killer-B has a handy little guide to get you up to speed on all the cool stuff Google Now can do as well as how to do it!
Commands & Now Cards For Google Now!!! Now Video, and custom widget
At this point, I'd suggest looking through your contact list for people with unusual, or difficult to pronounce names. Go into their contact card, and add in a nickname for them of their phonetically spelled name. Google Now has trouble parsing these unusual names, and their isn't a way to make it learn. Spelling the names like they sound allows you to send texts and place calls via Google Now without any voice issues.
Open up the red mic screen and "Do a barrel roll."
Troubleshooting:
If you are having an issue with Google Now, please refer to the thread originally created by cajunflavoredbob here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30809177&postcount=1
The red mic screen won't display.
To fix this, press the normal mic within the Google Now app. While it is listening (after it beeps), press menu > refresh. Now you're at the red mic.
Google Now Force Closes.
Make sure you have enough space on your /system partition before installing this. You need at least 60MB free for the Offline versions and 30MB free for the Online versions.

Oh and just to explain, the old gmail allows stuff based on signature, so as this apk is resigned it will not be allowed. The new gmail marks it as dangerous and will create a notification for you to allow permission, or the patched one marks it as normal and allows it silently.

My phone gets worse battery life or uses more data.
Read this post by Racer Of All and follow the directions using apktool. This is for advanced users running a Sense ROM only.
Sports cards aren't showing up.
It won't add teams that aren't in season. American football is currently in preseason. Baseball, however, works perfectly fine.
I want Google Now in another language than US English.
From the Google Now home screen with the cards, tap Menu, then Settings. Tap Voice, then Language and select the language you want recognized. The text of Google Now in searches and regular cards should mirror that of your system language.
My Galaxy SIII just received the new update which blocks local search, and Google Now won't work properly.

All files are on the device with the correct permissions except because of the different search apk (GoogleQuickSearchBox_USA.apk) the method mentioned in the OP won't work until you delete the _USA part of the file and then reboot into recovery and reflash following the OP instructions.

This is a quirk in the later apks. You may need to hit the little magnifying glass icon next to the search link. This will allow you to open those links properly.

Want to go back to stock?
If, for some reason, you want to remove Google Now and return to how you were before, flash the following zip. It removes all Google Now files, and returns the original Google Search app and voice files, as well as sets permissions for the Search app. Make sure to uninstall talkback and then reinstall it once you reboot to get voice search working again.
Google Now to Google Search via Mediafire- 629.35KB /Hotfile mirror

Ah, that means you already have the old Google Search on your phone (I ran into that too)- uninstall it or navigate to System/App and rename GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in GoogleQuickSearchBox.bak and install the downloaded APK again
I keep getting the network error, even after clearing CACHE and DATA :/

Added new .apk in the OP which should solve fc issues for some users and a new Cards explanation

I am having the same issue and this suggestion does not work. I have renamed and tried to install multiple times. I have also deleted the old one and tried to install multiple times. Any other suggestions?

I would suggest making a Nandroid backup then try the zip and flash in CWM (clear cache and davlik - reboot will take longer the first time)
OR
Using Root Explorer
Navigate to System/app rename GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk to whatever you want to
Drag/Drop Velvet-theos0o-3.apk in System/app and rename it to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
Change permissions to rw-, r--, r-- and reboot (do NOT try and install the APK)
- it should definitely work then
When you restart - go to Manage Apps, find Google Search then clear data and cache (should clear up the network error)

I have tried both of these techniques multiple times. Never works. I am currently running AOKP and InsitgatorX Kernel. Can anyone with this combo confirm they have it working?

I'll Nandroid my current setup and run an AOKP here in a bit...
EDIT: Installed Chimera vs Skyrocket_RC1 - used Root Explorer, and renamed GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk.bak
Copied Velvet-theos0o-3.apk and renamed it GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk then changed the permissions to rw-, r--, r-- and rebooted
Works fine on that AOKP ROM

Hey, I do have installed your "old" Radio and works just fine ! Thanks a lot !
The ZIP that has FmRxApp2.2deu-ger-only.apk in it.
I do use PACMAN ROM v21.0 JB 4.2.2.
Now about this "new" Radio app. I wanted to try it, because I already love the design of it.
a.) Tried to just install it (version 2 actually started without freezing at once), still having your "old" radio installed.
It starts, asks for headset und superuser rights. No sound and while searching for radio stations the app freezes, giving me the message "Radio stopped working".
b.) I could not uninstall "old" Radio the "old fashioned way", as trebuchet-launcher stopped working then, so I had to to delete FmRxApp2.2deu-ger-only.apk from system/app. (are there any other remnants btw. ?)
Deleting FmRxApp2.2deu-ger-only.apk 1st resulted into a "Failed"...but then got deleted.
c.) Flashing ZIP via CWM also ends up in a Error (Status 6) - Installation aborted
d.) Copying the 2 apk files of the "new" Radio into system/app (after deleting old one) Installs the app (android updates message) but the Radio FC's on start (version2)

HTC Eye Experience Camera

Hi all,
HTC has pushed the eye experience camera app to play store but as with other HTC apps, it is incompatible with our 816.
But that does not mean we cannot have it on our phone.
Follow these simple steps and you can have the eye experience in no time.
1. Root your device (There is a nice thread for it in the General Section or you can watch a video on youtube).
2. Download the HTC Camera apk off the internet and copy it to your SD card (I think uploading of official and closed source apps is not allowed so I am not doing it but you can find it on the internet.)
3. Install Titanium Backup from playstore and grant root privileges to it.
4. Once that is done, uninstall the existing camera app (Make sure you make a backup of it first).
5. Use a file explorer that can access system files (I use ES File Explorer) and place the camera apk (rename the apk to camera.apk)in the system/app folder.
6. Modify the permission of the newly pasted file to Read/Write/Execute and then install the application from there.
It might be possible that your phone might reboot after step 5 but perseverance is the key here my friend. It should work the second time you try it. Just make sure that camera.apk is not there in system/app after titanium backup has finished its job.
Once you are through, you'll get the following new modes:
1. Photo Booth
2. Split Capture
Thankz… @nitinzeon

When I tried it that way, my installation was failing.
So had to take the other route.
Ok…. That nice… .but soon will be on google play store… and our phone will be recevieng uptade via play store rather than flashing them…
Well i need to understand something.. ok the 816 and the One mini are very close and i cannot get those features working on my one mini 2 . Someone can explain me this ?
Someone got the same problem ?

Your phone is rooted?
Of course rooted and the rom too.
So, in that case, could you please elaborate the exact issue?
Are you able to install the replace the stock apk with the one from play store in /system/app?
If you are, then change the file permission of camera.apk to rwx rwx rwx and install it from the /system folder itself.
One more thing.... use titanium backup to uninstall the original camera so that camera.odex file gets removed too. If it is present in the system folder then the eye experience camera might not work.
In my case i delete stock camera and camera odex from root explorer in system/app folder and then replace new camera set permission and install it .
That's what i've done
Is there any option to have the new camera now without root ?

It should have worked that way.
All right...so..you can try one thing as a last resort.... this should set things straight....
Use titanium backup to convert camera app to user app from system app. Then uninstall camera app like any other app.
Then install the latest camera.apk and you should have it in your app drawer.
One more thing.... I think it is compatible only with a sense rom. There is no harm in trying on another rom though.

You can try installing it like a regular app.
If it works then please leave a comment in this thread. It may help fellow XDAians.
how could we do that wile our phone is s-on? after reboot any changes in system or app need root come back to normal before reboot
This doent look S-on!!… for some variant need root for titanium backup apk while others like mine no need of root just install as normal apk then it update the stock camera… then remain as stock camera…..

Try using this for permanent root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/des...l-windroid-universal-android-toolkit-t2944399
I haven't used it but it looks promising to me.
All the best!!!!!
I tried installing it normally but it says that it can't be done because there is already same application but with another signature ? Htc d816n single sim from Poland

In that case @bonczas.... you'll have to wait for official update from HTC.
