Hi guys!
i'm not a dev, but a friend of mine is developing an android app we'll use together.. so i'm asking you guys hoping someone can help!!
we (he) has a problem implementing a gesture on our app: slide right.
i try to explain what the app should do:
in the main page the app shows a list of elements (so background with screenwide rectangular containing the elements, picture, name and small description). the idea is to slide the tab (the screenwide rectangular) right and pull it "out of the screen" just for 30% of the size.
ok ok i have to admit, i'm really really bad on explain myself
but i've found an IOS app is doing in very very smoothly, it's called Nixter (the one in the video)
my friend is saying that android don't "allow" this gesture and the only way to make it work is some workaround.. is it true?? can anyone help me (us) here?? it would be really really appreciated
i'm asking you guys because i don't want to upset my friend doubting his word..
forgot the video:

You CAN implement the same in Android too ... Android does ALLOW gestures .. I also once saw a small library that implements such a thing ... i'll update the libraries details once i remember it's name ..

Hi,
I'm running a stock rom from an HK phone and there's a new icon in the notification bar i have never seen.
www[dot]monsterup.com/upload/1334936579149.png
(I'm new so i can't add the picture)
Does someone know what app is that or what does it mean ?
Thank you.
Unfortunately, it looks like your link isn't working.
Ah yes, you must add WWW to the link.
Hmm, interesting.
If I had to guess (and I do, as it seems to not be a "standard" Android icon), I'd be willing to bet its Rotation (or orientation) lock. Meaning, that the phone will stay in whatever orientation its locked to (portrait or landscape) no matter what position the phone is put in.
Oh yes ! You are right !
Ahah, with another phone, there wasn't this icon.
Thank you very much Ninmeister.

Hey, no problem! Glad I could help!
Hello All,
Just a quick question... can the mini apps at the bottom be changed to use other apps? I called Sammy tech support and they said I'd have to check w/Google since it's built into the ICS OS. I find this odd because I've checked other tabs at Worst (Best) Buy and they didn't have this mini-app tray.
I want to use other apps in its place. I wonder why when you view the mini apps you'll see an "edit" icon, however, when you click on it, everything is greyed out so you cannot edit or switch-out the mini-apps.
Thanks!

I believe this is a TouchWiz feature, and my understanding is that you cannot use other apps. Only the ones provided by Samsung.

I don't have it in front of me, but I believe that lets you add and remove the existing quick apps. Also, it probably isn't out of the realm of possibility that someone could develop a quick app and it would appear, but I bet there isn't a whole bunch of people building these quick apps.

+1. I think your take on this is as accurate as it can get.
Give Apex launcher a try if you dislike touchwiz. I can't stand touchwiz.

Mini Apps is built into the status bar, not the launcher. it will always be there.
Hate it...i wish i could get rid of the miniapps, sometimes it pressed accidentally and bug my gaming time
If Olny some1 develope mini app for the notes that would be great for ppl who read and like to write quick notes, If Only....
install gmd gesturecontrol to hide the status bar
You wont press any mini apps accidently then. Also when you press edit you double click on a mini app to add/remove it.
You can remove them, they annoyed me so I got rid by following the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692173
Obviously make a back-up before deleting the suggested files if you feel you may want thm back at some point (not that I did )!

hi Folks.
I can share with you my trouble there is the white thin space upper then toolbar
So When I have 2.3.2 wirmware it was hidden at all - I have not got it but now I update my Samsung Skyrocket and it is apparent
How can I fix it? without wirmware updating/ what's wrong I do ?
That looks to be a battery bar, is it not?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
That line indicates your battery percentage. It's called Team Battery bar. Some custom roms come with it. The service can be disabled easily. Just find the app and you can uncheck a checkbox. Great functionality, but from an aesthetic point of view, it is a train wreck. It is the first thing I turn off.
thanks. e... guys you are right I just plugin my device ti the charger and prove your versions. But how I can block the line ?

Thanks so funny! Most people love this feature. Maybe you should give it a try. Change it's color to something you like.
That was an MIUI only feature for the longest. I use it on all my devices and have for years.
So I know thats the question do not related with the topic but guys
How can I add Russian language on keyboard with the switcher option to switch English-Russian, I guess some kinds of modes on Playstore is allowed to get it- but I don't which one is good for the firmware
Many thanks
PS: Android 4.0 is brilliant. I so happy with that.

Hi, Im using Android (Note 2) and looking for an app called Screendimmer from IOS. Here is the youtube about how it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB4VWhZtU5c
I use this for whatsapp. While Im chatting and waiting for a reply, the phone usually turn off and I have to press the power button to wake it up. My friend who is using Iphone showed me that he installed Screendimmer on Cydia and solved all the problems above.
I tried to use "tasker" together with "screen filter" but I failed to do that. So is there any app in Android that has the same function like ScreenDimmer?
Any helps.
Thanks

Thanks. However, both apps do not meet my needs. They just provide the ability to adjust the screen brightness.

nope. but you can have your thread closed/moved.
you can get banned if you threat people, use inappropriate language, show disrespect towards other users.
if you make a post in the wrong section you usually get reported and one of the moderators closes the thread and if it is necessary they may delete it.

Yes I also tried that app but it is not what I need. The main reason that I am finding this app is that I dont need to press the power button everytimes I am waiting an message/whatsapp/viber/facebook. The screen will automatically dim (it does not like the screen time out that auto lock the screen after x seconds) and it will come light when I touch the screen. It can save battery (by dimming the screen at the lowest brightness...nearly black) and the power button also.
waiting for some developers who can build an app like this :victory:
P/S: I have an idea that we can use Tasker and Screen Filter, and set a loop with a condition that when a specific app is open (whatsapp for example), if in 10 seconds, there is no touch on screen (I left the phone there for 10seconds) it will activate Screen Filter (that set at the lowest brightness) to dim the screen (not lock it); then when the phone receives touch, Screen Filter will be disable. In that 10seconds, if there is touch occured, it will recount another 10seconds again. I am not a IT guy so I can not do it myself. Can anyone try this?
up waiting for any idea
It seems that there is no developer interested in this app
I have emailed to the developer of the IOS app but still received nothing.
Hi guys, I don't know if this is the correct place to post so I apologize in advance.
Im looking for something I dont know if its a app, or theme. Instead of having pages full of apps on my phone, and I no I've seen this before but I want to put all my well not all but a lot of my most used and semi used apps down in the I think its called the quick bar maybe, the thing on the bottom that holds 4 or 5 apps. I want to put a lot of the apps down in there. So if anyone could help me or point me in the right direction and even tell me the name of it.

You could create folders and have them at the bottom of the display...
But if what you want is more stand alone apps at the bottom check with another launcher ....

Thank you, its not what I was thinking about but its working for me in a similar way.
