The Party's Over? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Where have all the devs gone? Isnt anyone interested in this device anymore?Ok tell me what device you are devving for lol.No, seriously did they start a new subfourum and noone told me? Whats going on??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Xparent Purple Tapatalk 2

Your in the wrong section. But yeah I gotta agree with ya....its a very under appreciated device.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2

i think alot of devs are waiting for the source for the next version of the software to hit...

While I have to agree, ReVoltJB just hit our device. Give that a shot if your bored.

I've always heavy work fon N7100
Inviato dal mio GT-N7100 con Tapatalk 2

I had the asus 700 n the note is better imo, obviously it poos on the ipad, always felt their wasnt as much development for this device in terms of everything really which i hoped.

Whenever I get a little bored I just flash the latest CyanogenMod nightly.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using xda app-developers app

Yeah I do that as well only thing is I miss apps to SD and Snote.....
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Xparent Purple Tapatalk 2

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Maybe there isn't much reason for custom Roms I'm on stock No root and I love it as long as there are interesting apps available I'm happy

I have tried a few pure Andoid devices as well as custom CyanogenMod ROM's on my Note 10.1, I alway come back to touchwiz.
There are 2 or 3 really good custom roms out there but they are touchwiz so............ maybe the reason you don't see a butt load of custom ROM's is that the Note 10.1 is pretty awesome out of the box, the way that Samsung intended it to be used.

Curiosity is why I rooted mine for the first time, wanting reliability back is why I reset the flash counter and reinstalled stock ROM.
.

Stock ROM is the reason why I paid more for this tablet... so why change it?
This tablet is so so good out of the box, that there is no reason to load less functional or less stable ROMs out there.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk

but kernel can be optimised ! hence i only need a feature that allows me to use portable hdds (should be something kernel related)

Gotta ask

Why is everyone using touchwiz and adding launchers??? The stock roms are huge. I understand ics is on the way but why has no one gotten at least a nice stock 2.3 rom no I'm not a noob no I'm not flaming but it makes no sense to me when we could drop a huge chunk of bloat by compiling cm7. I've seen a couple attempts that have since been locked or abandoned. Makes me sad. And now for the trolls lol

What does the size of the rom matter.

I really wish AT&T would stop screwing around it's customers. Don't get me wrong I love AT&T but they release SGS2, then the Skyrocket, and now next the Skyrocket HD. That right there maybe messes with alot of devs. They get started on one, then an upped version comes out.
I have to say though, the Skyrocket i727 is thankfully getting some love. Look up this guy "seanzscreams". He is truly awesome. He has pumped out about 3 roms, keeps them updated and replies to people having trouble with them. I'm running one right now and have not had any problem. Very stable and great speeds+battery life.

[Q] Will Skyrocket be able to use the official T-Mobile SGS II ICS update? [Solved]

Noticed that the T-Mobile SGS II is getting it's ICS update today. Considering both the phones are pretty much the same inside, can the T-Mobile ICS rom be able to be ported to our device the Skyrocket?
I'm sure the answer is yes.

Hope it's not really 4.0.3, given our last leak was 4.0.4.
Yeah. I saw that too. But once we have kernel source all SHOULD be well.

But an official 4.0.3 with all features working will do until our official 4.0.4 is released. At least for me.

I've been on a home brew UCLE2 based rom since it dropped and have been pretty happy with it. Only wish battery life was a bit better, but power save mode seems to make a big difference with that.
Its touchwiz. Don't know why everyone is hyped other than the kernel source being available.

Wouldn't it be amazing if AT&T blessed our ICS with TW UX? That would do some serious brand strengthening. Too bad it is very unlikely.

Were either of you expecting something else? If you thought it was going to be stock ICS then you're either on the wrong board or purchased the wrong phone.
It gets really old reading all of this whining about Touchwiz. This is the SKYROCKET forums. It comes with Touchwiz, always has and always will. Frankly if you two hate it so much why in the world did either of you purchase this phone?
Some of us are quite happy with Touchwiz and are excited to finally be seeing a complete and fully functioning ICS rom that could run on our phones.
First off I knew it would have touchwiz I'm not an idiot don't treat me like one. You have your oppinion and I have mine the only exciting thing for me is source the rest of it for me is just an update
Edit: and btw we have aosp roms which means I can like this phone and hate tw

So even though you knew it had Touchwiz you purchased the phone anyway. That's great. Now we all know how much you hate it. Thanks for sharing this completely unneeded opinion.
I would like to ask, what exactly does this opinion have to do with the topic of this thread? As frankly it appears as if you just wanted to inject your negativity for no reason other than to rain on the parade of those that are excited about the update and are happy with their purchase of a Touchwiz skinned device.
For the sake of not creating a high school drama here which you clearly want.

Anyone working on porting Sense 4 to the Skyrocket?

Sup guys. New to the Skyrocket community, I'm coming from the Captivate community. Due to an issue with my Cappy, I had to upgrade my phone and couldn't wait for the SGS3, so I went with the Skyrocket and so far am loving the phone. I haven't rooted it yet, but I've been checking the Captivate community still and I'm seeing they're porting over a lot of ROMs from HTC Sense 4, so I was wondering if anyone is working on any ROMs like that for the Skyrocket?
No and its an interesting concept back in my early days sense was to integrated that porting to non HTC phones was near impossible it would be interesting to see for sure
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Does anyone know if it is possible to port certain parts/apps from Sense to any of the ROM's for the I727?
Mainly the Friend Stream app.
Yes its possible to pull parts of sense over but you need proper apps and framework and in some cases libs

i tried a couple of sense style widgets and stuff and it just didn't look or feel right.

the tf700 came out before the galaxy note 10.1

and the galaxy note 10.1 appears to have a much better dev community. I can't help but think i should return my tf700 for a note 10.1
thoughts?
samsung devices have a bigger following. that's it.

I think some of this has to do with the fact that there are slight variations from the 300 to the 700, the 300 has a larger community but we can't just grab those devs since the differences in models are just enough to make it a pain, but the models are close enough that 300 owners probably won't upgrade. Compound this with the Nexus 7 and so many modders got that because its cheap and pure android and you see what we are in. Finally, the tablet just dropped (is about to drop?) in Europe so that shrinks the pool a bit.

How much is an unlocked rom really worth? On phones it's worth a lot because of all the bloatware and need to maximize battery life but on tablets ... most have so little bloatware. I would rather have a much quicker Jellybean than all the Rom support in the world at this current time.

Have u checked that section... Most roms are for the n8000 and not the 8013 (wifi) version... And it doesnt look like its anything special anyways... Lol just sayin

Wait nevermind, I'm too OCD not to upgrade in that time.
Getting JB a million years earlier should ease the pain.

I am working on getting custom ROMs on this thing and I am starting with JB directly. No use making an ICS custom ROM when JB is coming soon. Its not been easy to get this done. I have a booting JB version but loads of stuff needs fixed. I'd wait for a JB version and use those libs to make a new build with.

I have to agree. Tablets are relatively clean. I have zero desire to do anything beyond the freezing of unneeded apps that I've already done.

It makes sense, though we're all getting antsy over here, waiting for something new to flash.

[Q] What phone currently has the most development?

I'm sort of new to Android and I currently have a lg vs910. I love the phone my only problem with it is there are only a couple of custom roms running on it. Don't get me wrong I love the broken out 2.0.1 and mtmichaelson did a great job. But I'm almost due for an upgrade and I want a good phone that has a few more options for custom roms. I know this question is sort of opinion based but that's what I want please let me know you're opinions.

Thank you. I kind of thought that would be most peoples answer but wanted to see If someone would mention a phone I haven't yet heard of. Thank you for the quick response though.
I had previously had a Motorola Droid X and HTC Thunderbolt and neither of them could come close to the number of choices and fast updates that I have been able to get with my Galaxy S3. Its amazing when you consider the Verizon model shipped with a locked boot loader. I had Jelly Bean on my S3 before the VZW Nexus got the update officially. Plus the hardware is great!

I would say the HTC Evo 4g because it has been around since 2010, and there are still roms being developed for it.
sorry but the galaxy nexus no one considers, in addition to being a great device brings several customizations ... (this is my thought)
I have a samsung galaxy s more than 2 years now. Great device while many, many custom roms available. And they are stable too!
My next device will be a Samsung again. I am in doubt wether it will be S3 or Note.
The galaxy nexus GSM hands down. The Nexus 4 is also going to follow up with the same level of development when it is released
