Hi,
I've tested some ICS Roms:
- CM10 Nightly IODAK ROM of 5th May 2013 (Current)
- OptimusRS Xperia
- GuilleFS
- Stock v30b AT&T rom
And, after using it for a while Im always having the same problem.
Its seems speedy at starting and gets slowing down in a while. That seems it is a RAM problem, cause Im used to OC the phone to 1,2~>1,3 Ghz, and after killing apps it will get speedy for a while. All we know that its useless killing apps cause Android will be opening it.
Also Im used to uninstall all unneeded apps, besides i control service events with autostarts app.
Before I changed to ICS I had Prometheus Rom and it was smooth and did not have this probs.
The main question, wich is your faster ICS rom for your opinion, please dont tell me about roms with constant FC and Reboots like GuilleFS..
Have a look at zeppelinrox's .jar patching scripts in android general dev/hacking section. It has made my phone run much more smooth. It helps with the app killing, sound/volumes are consistent, etc. Works on any rom apparently...

What I wanted:
-everything has to work (gps, proximity sensor, mms, hotspot, etc.)
-great data speeds, like 7mb down and 1.5 up
-stable (no FC closes, etc.)
-good battery life
-3D app drawer (like CM7)
-3D gallery (like CM7)
-full email functionality (exchange, schedules, self BCC, etc.)
-no Sense
So, what ROM is it?
It is the STOCK ROM with a few non-developmental changes.
Here are all the parts:
The stock rooted ROM found here (this contains the recent OTA update that gives you great speed):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042
Then, I removed most Sense objects by flashing this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993475
Then, I installed this 3D Gallery app:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cooliris.media&feature=search_result
For me, this ROM is Nirvana…no more bugs every corner I turn. No more jumping through fire hoops to fix the "little things". It just works.
Great combination

Stock has it.
I personally like leedriod. but I have done the same thing. Stock rom with Sideloading enabled. removed all the bloat. Then added all I needed and made a rom back up. I return to it frequently. But leedriod has been on my phone for 5+ days in a row now.

To be clear, I just didn't remove bloat, I removed most of Sense. This seems to speed things up quite a bit. For example, I'm using the AOSP launcher, etc.
i'm trying your method right now because i needed gps to work, and no rom ever had gps working for me. but how did you remove the bloat?

See the second link in my original post. When you go through the process of removing Sense, it removes most bloat. Any bloat left can be removed with Titanium backup.

Sounds like MIUI with a launcher installed
Try mdj's sense 3.0. Awesome rom

It's true that stock ROMs are almost bug free, but flashing custom ROMs has become a hobby for me. I rarely keep a ROM for more than a week, and the whole process of flashing a new release and checking out the new features is just awesome. I know, I'm a big geek
We all are lol

me too, Leedroid rom with its setcpu underclock function save a lot of battery power.
just flashed 5.1 and then patch.cant find cpu settings, shouldnt that be under tweaks?
Havent used lee in a while. Check for an app. Setcpu - deamon controller - something like that. Dont remember if you can tweak those things in his rom.

yes i used rom toolbox, just found it strange that it wouldnt be under tweaks. coming from cm7 that had a million settings to this rom that only has a few settings
Sense roms as miui tend to have less tweaking options.

Currently with Bugless Beast, I like it a lot but it's missing some useful features...
I would like another ROM that would at least have status bar toggles, and working Facebook sync.
Also would be important for it to be stable, fast and have good battery life.

This seems to have FB sync that works. I would double check the thread though to see if there are any current issues just to be sure.

Try Oodie's MIUI ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470829
MIUI is awesome ROM and Oodie made it even better. It has FB sync of course and you can customize status bar toggles however you want. It's still in development so i can't tell it would be 100% stable for you, but i haven't any problems with stability. It's fast enough and battery life is also good.

I use this ROM, it's a mixture of AOKP and CM9. Really fast especially when coupled with the latest Air Kernel 4.3 with Linux kernel asynchronous I/O (AIO). It's faster than anything I've used out there. It's also properly signed so that apps and Google Play would treat the ROM as if it's an official Android build than a custom ROM. Whatsapp usually would warn that you're running a mod if it detects debug keys like in CM9 or AOKP builds.
deltatux
try CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ver. 14 Hybrid Mix ICS

Goals
I like clean roms that are optimized, no theme, or themed extremely well that it looks stock, and lightweight because I don't use a lot of apps. I am building it so you do have options and can restore apps if you so choose. I like having latest updates and sometimes experimental builds. So If it doesn't work correctly, I'll try to fix it if it is something major or bothering me. Hopefully this rom will bring the life back into your G2x.
Input
Has anyone used the AGPS hack? Which settings do you find good? I am trying to test but I can never get a connection in Chicago.
Other Optimizations I should include?
What do you think about play music? Does the auto sync annoy you?
THAT would be great dont you think..???
That sounds pretty sweet man, keep us posted on progress
i believe it is a copyright issue to bake in Gapps.

Wonder if we can keep market... rest is just a quick install.
-- The noob says:
A new android has larger battery, larger display, more CPU cores, more memory, more storage, etc. resulting in identical battery life as your old phone... Go figure!
Guys, I am quite a flashomaniac. I usually install every single ROMs released in forums. But recently i am getting some serious lag issues on my phone.
After installing Sense ROMs(Sense 3.6 ICS, Sense 4.1 ICS or Sense 4+ JB 4.1) my phone performs perfectly without lag(with normal usage, nothing heavy).
But these ROMs being so large in size and some HTC bloat, and my hatred for sense, i want to use AOSP roms. But when I install AOSP/CM(10/10.1) roms, my phone lags like f**k after installing 2-3 apps(usually some themes, viber and Line) and using them. I always wipe my partitions and format my sdcard regularly. Still facing same lags. I try running my CPU at max frequency(my phone's chip supports only to 1728 GHz) and at performance governer. Still those lags remain.
I installed whole firmware package from latest HTC RUU too, still have same issues.
Does anyone have any idea about this?

I mentioned my basic apps. I see lags after installing those apps only. And I use Greenify too.
Yesterday i thought of trying to limit background processes to 2(from dev settings) and its working okay, but at the cost of having almost no-multitasking.
