HOTSPOT not work with htc butterfly with X920D - HTC Butterfly

Dears,
I am using the ROM of NOS M7 v2.0.0(dlxub1)
It's a sense 5 ROM
my kernel is LillXv3.4.5
Then problem is that if I enable the hotspot function
My NoteBook will connect to my smart phone , but can not get ip address back
I try to capture the wireless packet with wireshark , there is only dhcp discover but no dhcp response at all
I use "adb shell" and execute command netstate ,I found that port 67 state is CLOSED
I think that the dhcp server is not running correctly
I try to configure my Notebook with static ip address instead of dhcp , and it can surf internet well
That means the wifi connection does work correctly but the dhcp server gets some problem
Could some one help me about this issue,or does someone encounter the same issue as mine ?
If this post is not belong here , can someone help me to post in the right place
thank you

how to connect my phone to laptop via wifi to surf internet?

hi greetings to all. I am new in this foum. I have bought a new smartphone and it brought me to this forum for support.
I have htc s710 with wm 6. Is is possible to access internet on the phone by connecting it to the laptop through wi-fi in adhoc mode? I tried connecting it, and connection was established, I was as well able to ping the phone from my laptop but i was unable to use internet. I want to use laptop as a wireless router.
in the laptop i have ethernet connection which brings internet to my home, and i have enabled ics in that. the wi-fi card has been assignd ip address 192.168.0.1, and mobile has ip assigned 192.168.0.2.
is it possible in this way?
If your notebook has a bluetooth module built in, establish a BT ActiveSync connection and your S710 will then use the computer's internet access automatically.
i dont hava BT in my laptop. I just have a external orinoco gold wi-fi card.
is it possible through that.
I've never tested it cause I use a WAP router. ICS worked crappy when I tried it.
Did you try using DHCP instead of setting a fixed IP on your S710? ICS offers DHCP services and IIRC depends on it. Also remember that you normally can't set a DNS server on WinMo. Does ICS offer its services on all network cards or don't you have to activate the card you want ICS to serve on in its settings?
Thanks for the response. I have not tried DHCP, let me see today if it works that way.
Hi, I searched this concern before cause I wanted to use wifi too in the office. I'm not sure where the thread that I read had been sucessfull but it did gave me the idea to set mine and get it working.
Basically I have LAN connection in the office, connected to my Dell Latitdue d600 and created ad hoc connection to my HTC Touch.
I opened network connections, and right click my lan connection, advance tab, and enable internet sharing using wireless connection, thats the only thing i did, after establishing the adhoc connection, IP address in Pc is the same, 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 hope you get it working. I dont have a smartphone to test it myself
Hi piper. my problem is fixed now. i connected the phone to the laptop at adhoc mode, applied static ip. then ran network setup wizard. after the setup was complete i changed the ip setings of the phone. i set the phone to acquire ip form dhcp server.

Well I have tried that on my windows xp machine. However, when you enable ICS then I think it will provide ip to connected devices via DHCP. I just enabled phone to acquire ip via DCHP by going to the phones, Connection manager -- > Settings --> WLAN Settings --> Connection status ---> Menu --> IP Address --> And select Use server - assigned IP address.
Step, first enable ICS in your laptop -- > apply ip address to your phone like 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0 and then connect your phone to your laptop in adhoc mode. Once the connection is established go to phone and change the ip address settings as given above ie. select server assigned ip address. i USED THIS MODE AS THERE WAS NO OPTION TO APPLY DNS IN THE PHONE.

[Q] Why does my Wireless not connect in G300 U8815!!!?

Hello everybody! and sorry that i post this question here!
I have noticed some 2 months ago that i can not connect to wireless on my Huawei Ascend G300 U8815 , but i didnt care.
It was originally on GB 2.3.6 B885 then i upgraded to B895 then ICS B927 but wireless didnt work even before upgrading.
Yesterday i bought a TP link Router WR740N and setup my internet on it making it as an A.P, so i was sure that setting were correct since i connected with my laptop and another phone which is Nokia Xress Music 5530, but not on my G300.
So, my problem is that the phone recognize Wireless connections and when i try to access with or without password, it just says that my network is registered and keeps on trying to connect but unsuccessfully.
I tried all securities on my router from non to wep to wpa to wpa2 psk and still the same...
i even checked in some forums that some people experienced this problem, so they proposed :
-to reset phones setting to factory which didnt work
-use wifi fixer which didnt work
-upgrade to ICS which made me happy but still no wifi.
-use static ip address but also refsued to connect.
my self i downloaded WIFI MANAger Premium which is a very good soft but still knowing all networks but keeps turning and then stops.
Please find below my router settings:
LAN MAC Address:
64-70-02-55-4F-F8 IP Address:
192.168.1.1 Subnet Mask:
255.255.255.0 Wireless Wireless Radio: Enable Name (SSID): Meganet Channel: Auto (Current channel 6) Mode: 11bgn mixed Channel Width: Automatic MAC Address: 64-70-02-55-4F-F8 WDS Status: Disable WAN MAC Address: 64-70-02-55-4F-F9 IP Address: 88.222.160.212 Dynamic IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.248.0 Default Gateway: 88.222.167.254 DNS Server: 88.222.0.1 , 88.223.0.1
So, on the phone when i used static IP i did like this:
IP: 192.168.1.101
Mask: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.1.1
DNS1: 192.168.1.1
DNS2: 192.165.1.1
Can any body help me please because i have tried all solutions and i think that the wireless driver is corrupted or something like that, so can it be replaced or flashed somehow because im using G internet now and it's exensive.....
Please i need your expertise!
Very strange
I am g300 owner too,and i never had any kind of problem with WiFi,it connects to everything (access point, printers, public places network, etc). It could be a factory problem, and I think you should take it into assistance. If you can't or you don't want to,you can try to root it and install an other kernel, but remember that this will compromise your warranty. There are all the guides and things you need at M*d*co.com huawei g300 forum. The best thing you can do is the first one,the second is a strictly recommended alternative.
Bye
Thanks...
Thanks for the answer.
So, by changing Kernel it means what? because i dont have big idea in Android and i just know the FW change so is it the same?
I also know that roting means giving full access to the phone so i have to root the phone and then?
I try to explain you that in a few lines
Android is a UNIX based OS,and it has a structure with UI,libraries, and lots of other stuff. The Kernel is the "root" of the structure "tree". It has every hardware driver and it controls those. It controls also WiFi lateen yard drivers, and this is why I advised you to try to change kernel and use a custom one,but this probably will not help you, cause in the update between ICS and gingerbread there's already been a kernel change(from 2.6.35 Linux kernel in GB to 3.0.1 Linux kernel in ICS), so the more probable reason of your problem is that your WiFi lateen yard is broken from factory. Take it to assistance, it's better than lose warranty and risk to break your phone

Assigning a static IP address to a phones hotspot

How can I assign a static IP address to my phones hotspot?
I use the hotspot on my Samsung M31 to connect my laptop running Windows 10 to the internet.
I also have Oracle's Virtual Box VM running a few test websites on the laptop on Ubuntu Server 22.04, which need a static IP address to access.
A few days back when I ran ipconfig at the Windows command prompt, it showed my wireless IP address as 192.168.166.135. Today, it show as 192.168.35.125. Meaning, all my sites are now broken. Is there a way to stop the hotspot from changing IP addresses?
Can someone please help?
Thanks,

I don't know the answer to your question directly as your situation is more complicated than is mine but I will try to help in so much as you can at least check what your current settings are.
My setup is only similar to yours in that I have apps (such as vysor & scrcpy) on Windows which are expecting a static IP address from my phone. However, where my setup differs from yours is I'm not using my phone as a hotspot - the router is assigning the IP addresses.
However, maybe what I've learned by randomizing my MAC address on each connection can help you - where I say maybe - as I your situation is using the phone as a hotspot and mine is passively accepting the IP address handed to the phone by the router.
In Android 11, the phone's Wi-Fi radio MAC address can be randomized per SSID, in which case the "address reservation" feature of most routers (often incorrectly called "static" IP addresses) won't work as intended. Worse, in Android 12, in Developer options, you can set a switch to randomize the Wi-Fi radio MAC address of the phone on every connection, regardless of the SSID.
Hence, you have to set the "static" IP address request in the phone itself, so that the router will respect that request for a static IP address.
(As an extra complexity, my SSID broadcast is hidden for privacy reasons (not for security - but privacy), which complicates things only a tiny bit as you have to turn off auto-reconnect for privacy.)
See the images below where maybe (but maybe not!) this information will help you track down why in your (hotspot) case, this static IP address requrest isn't being honored in your hotstpot setup.

To assign a static IP address to your phone's hotspot:
Go to your phone's settings and find the hotspot or tethering settings.
Look for the option to set the IP address as "Static" or "Manual."
Enter the desired IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS server information.
Save the settings and restart the hotspot.
