Dilemma: get One or wait? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

This has been bugging me for a while now, and just wanted to hear some opinions.
Should I opt for HTC One or should I wait for a possibly improved one?
Likes: design, speakers, battery life
Dislikes: 2 capacitive buttons, bazel

The two buttons and lack of funds killed it for me. Can't stand the thought of only two buttons.

Exactly... But I heard you can use the HTC logo as a menu button, thus 3 capacitive buttons? Not sure if that's fully functional

Yeah we got a package like thing with a giant case inside of it, and better interior for the accessories. That phone looks better since it doesnt have the myTouch logo on the front which seems out of place IMO.
I am jealous about the fact that it has the HTC logo at the top instead of mytouch, same with the brands on the back being different.
Also, the genius button is a search key. i wish we had that.

Indeed. I just find it more physically appealing.

Agreed. The unbranded phone looks 100x better. I pray for the day where companies like HTC sell all of their phones unlocked and direct to the customers. MySense + the MyTouch logos ruin a good thing.
Just replace your digitizer and button set with one from that phone.

Yes but to some people it is worth it. If I happen to break my digitizer I will be swapping over to the unbranded parts. As of now though it works fine and there is not a good enough reason to void my warranty by taking it apart.

Can HTC One X Use Tmobile 4G?

i want to get the HTC One X and unlocking it to tmobile.. is it possible to use tmobile's 4G on the phone?
From what I have read edge is about all you're gonna get. If you want a one that bad, get a one s , I hear its pretty much on par, or close to our x , except for the screen of course.

I'd love the One X with a ceramic back.
Honestly I'd trade my phone any day for a one s if the data would work on AT&T. It's a much nicer size (as a phone).

To each his own, but I think the One S is gorgeous, on par or just slightly below our One X.
Its one of those each has own place deals. Polycarbonite vs aluminum huge vs pockable amloed vs LCD both are amazing and feel great I like the one x but I'm a big guy big hands

No menu button, any way to remap?

Hey, I love the phone, but I really miss having a menu softkey to use for program settings. Anyone know of a work around. I am currently on CM10 nightlies.
Thanks

AT&T HTC One X no serial on back

I bought a used but in MINT condition HTC One X, and noticed that it doesnt have the serial numbers on the back as other... why is that? It is a One X because it has all the software, and the AT&T logo in the front underneath the glass(ugh).
Does anyone else have one like this? It does have the HTC logo embedded the FCC Logo, the Beats Logo, but that weird information in gray that others do.

Maybe it was a test model or review model or something? who knows. All the info should be in the bootloader.

I have an AT&T version, purchased about a week after the phone's release. The back doesn't have a serial number. The back has the the Beats logo, of course the HTC logo, and in gray (almost impossible to read in my office lighting):
FCC symbol
Do not throw in garbage symbol
Model #
FCC ID
[email protected]
SKU
PN
Made in Taiwan
It had a sticker on it originally, with the IMEI, and I believe SN. But I took that off almost immediately.
Serial number is in the about section where you would go to check for update, also in bootloader

Wait, the x+ is worst than the one x? That sounds funny. Kind of line iPhone 4 better than the 4s (sorry for all the iPhone comparisons, coming from a bunch of apple products)
Anywho, with the right set up, it could be one of the best phones. But like everyone else says, look in settings > about phone. Also I believe it is in the boot loader. But I still have the sticker, but I have an otter box case

Depends on what you value in a mobile device. If battery life and effeciency is important, then it is the one XL all the way.

Well that should be any mobile user. But I could be wrong. It just seems weird to put out a device when it sucks. To me it seems the only reason was to market jelly bean on an HTC phone on AT&T.

He's right contracts suck. I'm also waiting for the nexus 5, but if you're not a patient person get a dev or AOSP One. The SGS line died with the S4.

I like the Galaxy's for 2 reasons, black blacks, (very nice on aosp for everything to be black instead of gray), and the software features like the pausing and all of that. But I like sense. I would also like to have the next Google phone. Too many choices.

I have never liked the screens on the galaxy phones. Look close in person and compare. Regardless of all other factors, the devs will make a speedy Rom with that hardware, and the build quality will be great on both.
The screen will be what you will look at more than anything else. Make sure you won't regret it. Pentile is irritating, even at hi res IMHO.
Black blacks and impressive contrast ratios are good, but seeing gaps between my pixels just ticks me off. That's just me.

We can't make the decision for you, only persuade you.. But the choice is yours, I don't like Samsung and I don't really like HTC. But I really hate contracts. I'd personally get a nexus. But that's me

Well then please make it HTC lol.
Apple is good at choosing hardware and writing software that is a bit behind the times, and consequently everything works and is smooth all the time.
That being said, I find iOS totally boring. My work bought me an iPad mini, which is cool, but I just can't get interested.

you can buy the vanilla htc one from the play store without contracts, also htc sells an unlocked edition on his site. The nexus are way cheaper, though.

I would wait on the X phone and Nexus 5. IOS is good if you want your money's worth. My iPad 2 is still running silky smooth and my wife's iPhone 5 resells for $380! That's insane!
I have been a Samsung guy for the past couple of years and still am for the most part (waiting for the note 3) but to me the HTC one is much better than the galaxy s4. Two weeks ago I had my first HTC one, loved it but I had to get the S4 so i sold the One and got the s4. It's a good phone but it stutters A LOT, you cannot use the phone for a full minute without the phone stuttering and I'm not exaggerating. Also even though I always liked touchwiz, it's getting really old and needs an ui revamp badly. At the end of the day it's a matter of preference but to me the HTC one is a much more polish device. The s4 features are cool for the first 30 minutes but after a little while they just get in the way and become more annoying than anything. (Except multi window and air view ). The one display is beyond amazing (the one x display is the best 720p display and this puts it to shame), the speakers are incredible and I find myself liking blinkfeed a lot. Less features but way more useful. To each his own
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
As far as I'm concerned Samsung is in my ****list. How they can release such poor build quality at such high prices is beyond me. HTC time and time again is a perfect combination of power, features and build quality. And ew ew ew touchwiz. Also, would much rather have a phone and a tablet then a cross between the two. Having a smart phone you can't operate with one hand seems a bit useless to me but that's just my two cents. Also +1 on the nexus line of phones if for no other reason than having the latest software asap.
