[Q] Unrooting JB Atrix 2 - Motorola Atrix 2

Unroot JB leak #1 Atrix 2
Is it possible to use the Swapper method and swap our Atrix2 to ICS boot.img and use the unroot script provided to unroot our phone?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? I don't know what you are referring to with the swapper method, but I don't think that is possible. If you need to unroot, just remove the busybox, su, and superuser/supersu/whatever files. There is no need to change kernels or anything.

Thanks.

[Q] Root 2.3.6

I have 2 Samsung Infuse 4g. One is 2.2 and the other 2.3.6. I rooted the 2.2 with superoneclick...no problem. But the 2.3.6 will not root, with or without debug on. Could someone please help? And once rooted, how do you unlock, or do I even need to since I switched AT&T sim for Straighttalk sim and it works fine in both. I would appreciate any help. Thanks guys.
There is no way to root the new kernel...you have to flash a rooted kernel

Flash with SGS flasher. Now sure if that works without root. If not flash in CWM. Boom. Done.

If you have cwm you likely have root and if you don't have root(entropy dd kernel has root removed so you can update it) you can root through cwm with an su updater package. if you don't have root you can't use kernel flasher.
you will need to flash the rooting kernel remotely with either Odin or heimdall.

[Q] Leaked ICS General Questions

Firstly, I would like to apologize if this information is elsewhere but I just wanted to get confirmation for this all in one place.
1) If I upgrade to the leaked ICS ROM will I retain root privileges.
2) If I do not retain root privileges can I re root my phone (I had this issue with the HTC aria upgrade to froyo because of the locked bootloader)
3) Is this ROM stable (or at least relatively so)
1) yes
2) doesn't apply becuz of 1
3) yes, i recommend superlite 5.1 or team perfection.
Correction: if you upgrade through Odin, you lose everything on your internal sdcard AND ROOT.

If you use the Odin leak (not very stable) use super one click or Odin cwm then flash superuser to get root.
Or do the easy way and flash one of the custom rooms that all are already rooted for you and have fixes.

correction correction. As long as he flashes one of the roms i suggested, I highly recommend superlite, he won't lose either. Plus the oneclick is unstable and buggy

So the leaked official one is not very stable correct? If I were to flash one of the custom ones would it have touchwiz and all the other official stuff

u want all the touchwiz stuff? Use superlite by mhx or stock revamped by team perfection. Im not a fan of touchwiz, and if: aren't either any other ics rom will do, in which case i recommend ics - the real thing by seanscreamz.
This entire thread could of been avoided, by just reading the Odin ics and root thread in the rom section. Close this thread

Your going to want to do some research, if you upgrade via fxz I believe you have no safe way to get back to GB....
However...
If you upgrade to leak 1 via jimbridgmans method there is a safe way to get back....
After deciding which method to use, install atrix bootstrap and pick your ROM... I say bootstrap cause its the most supported...
Good luck and enjoy....

If your phone is not from AT&T, and you install the upgrade that Pzyduck upload, you won't be able to downgrade to GB.

Go back to stock then put a nice ROM with gapps if needed on your SD card. Then Odin entropy kernel. After that you'll have cwm then go through the steps to flash your new ROM,then you'll be rooted and ready to go.

download and install BMM from gplay and hv a look at the dev section.....
First warning: don't flash 2.3 fxz or any other fxz not for AT&T or you'll have a brick
Now we just care about BMM, don't install other recoveries
If you are on 4.0.4 official, just go to PS and install BMM (Boot Menu Manager), usage is around
