Surprise from Google, leaked by an app? - Android General

Hello. Today as I was updating some of my apps i've seen an interesting changelog at one of them. We're talking here about Light Flow Lite which changelog says :
Version 3.7.1 (Release 1084) - 18 May 2013
Added support for Google Hangouts including pushing text to - DashClock (see new DashClock screenshot)
Made persistent icon mandatory when running in foreground mode - as requested by Google for an upcoming version of android
Bug fixes
Cant add link, but search for the app and check what's new.
I really thing Google will surprise us soon as they didn't update their OS at Google I/O.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Awesome finding!
Well by the (another) rumor the next Android OS and 2nd gen Nexus 7 will be released on 10th June this year.
Thanks for telling us.

Haha, nice leak !
You may have notive that now, they've changed their message to "as requested by Google". Too late, too late

Since nobody is replying I think I will only update this for big updates (don't want to flood the forum and what not). After every race the usual stats get updated but I'll only post here when actual updates are coming.
1.1.12 UPDATE, PRO VERSION ONLY
- I added a photo section, so you can now view photos from every F1 season. Also if you hold down on any of the images you download them as wallpapers.
1.1.4 UPDATE:
- Current season is now the 2013 season as that is getting close.
- Added the 2013 season race calendar to both the free and paid version.
- The free version of the application now has adverts.
1.0.2 UPDATE:
The feedback section has been fixed, you can now send us any suggestions or problems you might have.

I want to keep this really simple. Since joining XDA I have always seen this sub-forum as the official place devs come to talk to users about their app and places users can come to talk about the apps they use. Only natural then that I set one app for the first app I've built.
If you don't fancy reading this then here is the play store link, enjoy! F1 History
F1 History
I've built this app for anyone that wants to learn about Formula One, it's full of data from every season. Can be viewed offline. I'm going to keep this really short because the description on the play store covers everything including what permissions the app requires. I will read feedback here, you can count on that.
-We've got information about a season as it goes on, which of course will start from March.
-There's data on who holds the current records, for example who has competed in the most races and which driver has won the fastest lap record the most number of times.
Please read the FAQ section within the app.

1.0.2 UPDATE:
The feedback section has been fixed, you can now send us any suggestions or problems you might have.
Updated on the full version. Free version update will come in about 10minutes or so.
Been a while since I posted here, busy getting updates out. Best to not flood this page all the time for minor things.

As with every update; if you find any bugs please let me know! Thanks.

[APP][2.2+] Battle Chat - bring your Battlelog friends with you on the go!

Hello world!
I just wanted to let you guys know that I've created a chat application for the Battlelog service, supporting Android devices running 2.2+, and it enables you as a user to chat with your friends "on the go" (without dragging your computer along with you).
The app itself requires you to login with your Origin credentials [CLICK], but pretty much works as a regular web browser does. Once you've logged in, all you have to do is select a friend and chat with him/her - that's about it!
The app is downloadable via Google Play, and the source code is available on Github too.
Enjoy!

Ha, I had this weird itchy feeling inside of me after reading about users wanting a standalone chat app (and DICE not pulling through at the moment), so I felt like I had to do something about it.
I've just updated the app to version 1.0.1, and you can expect it to show up within a few hours. Bugs addressed in this version:
The layout should no longer reset if you rotate the screen in the login
The chat should now make a sound upon receiving a new message
The persistent notification should be doing a better job at persisting
Hey people!
Just dropping by to let you know that the app has been updated to version 1.0.2, where the changes include various bug fixes:
> Sessions are not being scrapped prematurely anymore
> Bug where some users couldn't chat has been addressed
> Notification persists as expected to now
> The app should now detect an offline state upon login
> A closed chat on your device closes the chat on the website too
Also, I added a few minor touch-ups on the UI side of it all, nothing too big.
1.0.5 has been released with a few minor optimizations here and there, but more importantly: it fixes the bugs introduced by the API change. Enjoy.
The app has been updated to 1.0.6 and addresses a few minor functional issues. Go grab it while it's hot.

New Google Play Store coming soon...

http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ted-in-the-wild-with-new-holo-user-interface/
Wahhoo, nice to see some changed stuff.
"
Google's next version of the Play Store has been revealed on Droid Life, and a hands-on video demonstrates the tweaked look and deeper integration of the Holo-theme. Most of the layout is still same, many new pages are blank in this new look and it's easier to switch between searching for apps, music, books and videos.
Google Play Store evolved again from its once incredibly fussy and difficult navigation. The new polished look of the Play Store was heavily made of image layout for pushing products from apps to magazine to movies and music.
Google Play 4.0 is the next big UI changes and the entire thing has been redone. The UI is more Holo-like theme than ever, uses new fonts as category section titles, larger images and box-style item container. Individual pages are now filled with even bigger images and comes with cleaner design.
Sections of the Play Store are separated with text but display beautiful photos and colour that will surely grab attention.
The update 4.0.16 is not officially released and no exact date yet when the update will begin for Android devices. Auto update apps and auto update over Wi-Fi is now consolidated into one.

There are many of links available from the Internet using Google Search to download the APK or Android application package file. APK is the main installer and only works if its copied inside the Android device's storage memory.
Be careful of Web sites which offers link of the new Play Store APK for they may contain viruses or malware. Research and download only from trusted sites or developer threads."

Version 1.5.0 is now available for download
Days now supports contact names writen in Greeklish and can now properly display namedays for those contacts!
Tried the app! Very promising! It's stylish and very fast! Thanks!
Can you please add an option to backup the contents to sdcard, and also a search function inside the app.
And why does the app needs to read my contacts? And make an option to download details from fb and then sign out. Now if I signout, I can no longer see the birthday list. Anyway promising app.
And I couldn't understand the name days, can you please make it in English. Thank you
The app needs access to your contacts in order to read their birthdays and display them in the list (given you have birthdays stored in your device's contacts ofc ).
Since you get some goodies when you are logged in via Facebook, such as send a facebook message or open their wall, the app requires you to be logged in. But I'll look into your suggestion, and see what I can do!
Lastly, search is coming in a later update of the app. This and the ability to manually add entries into the app is two of the most important feature that need to be implemented!
Many thanks for the feedback!
PS: The app's namedays feature is currently supported only for Greek Orthodox names. How is the Play Store in terms of nameday apps for your country btw?
Sorry for the very late reply..
Oh, I thought it only uses fb to get the birthday list.
And I have no idea what name days means! well, I can simply disable it, so no problem there.
And please add an option to delete entries if possible, thank you

In Greece, we celebrate each person's name in a set day(or days) of the year, so each person "celebrates" two times a year, one for their birthday and one for their name day It's some sort of tradition here
I am currently working on redesigning the app to match all requested features and needs I've got so far. Luckily I started working on the redesign just about when the Material Design guidelines came out, so the app will get the Material Design treat soonish :highfive: (as soon as I am done with my vacations that is)
Waiting for the material redesign!
Days has been updated to version 1.6
With Google releasing their new design language and getting ready for the next version of Android, a lots of design changes happened to the app!
New icons, minnor tweeks here and there, and a revamp of the selected date screen with bigger, more beautiful contact images!

Currently the app displays the age of the contacts that have known year of birth. The ability to edit contacts from the within the app is one of the main features that are currently being worked on though. Unfortunately, it might take a while since I am currently starting my masters degree and haven't got a strong machine with me :/

Since I'm pretty new on Android, I was really surprised that there is no system support for the Birthday's Calendar!
I'm currently testing 2 apps, your has the neatest interface! :good:
I have a few suggestions:
composed names with a blank inside (like mine Gian Maria) are shown with the first word only (in my case only Gian)
tapping an event will open the system Contact's app instead of asking which one to use when more than one is installed. I do use True Phone and other apps ask me which Contact's app should be used
showing all the nameday (latest feature added!) should be a user selection into the configuration...
Addendum: I didn't found the widget on my MotoG with Lollipop...

Thank you for the suggestions mate!
1) Is 'Gian Maria' a first name of a contact or a full name?
2) I'll have a look at that app. They I did that should open the contact details with any related app installed. Could you please mention the names of the other apps you have so that I can test it out? EDIT: I see what you mean. I am assuming that you are using Lolipop? I am using something that is called Quick Contact Badge. In earlier versions of Android that badge looked different compared to the built-in contacts app, and hence the confusion. Already changed in the next update.
3) I agree, and will be available in the next update
About the widget, some people have reported issues with the widget, so it is under investigation. For the time being, please make sure the app is installed in the device's memory and not in the SD card (some people tend to forget that )

1) Yes, it's saved as "First Name", so two words in one field...
2) Yes, my MotoG 2014 is running Lollipop and I confirm that now it opens TP's Contact app! :good: (running v1.9.2)
Yes, the app is on the internal memory. BTW Lollipop does enable the option to move it to SD... I think there is an attribute to set so to not let the user move it, I have a few apps like that with the move to SD button disabled.
If you have some "debug version" that want me to test on my phone just send to me!
PS: has you have seen the Italian translation is now complete...
Version 1.12 is now live!
• Facebook Friends are (almost) back! The feature is experimental for know. You can access it through the settings. Let me know if there are problems with the feature
• New app icon!
• Lots of stability improvements and performance improvements.
