hi,
i'm using latest stock firmware (WW) and the battery won't charge further than 57%. if the charger is connected the tablet will just change the state to "not charging" when it reaches 57%. the dock charges fine but will not transfer any power to the tablet after 57%.
any ideas what's wrong? currently i'm trying to fully deplete the battery and then recharge it but i fear that won't help :/
i've had this problem for the past days and have read many threads, but it seems a simple shutdown helped *lol* i guess android isn't supposed to run for weeks without reboot

A full deplete would be my first recourse, too, and after that I'd power the unit down and recharge. If that fails, you might want to try a battery stats wipe -- sometimes, it is actually fully charged but just doesn't report it that way.
Had this problem with my tf201. Had to RMA to get it fixed...

I have another problem with battery. I charge TP for 6 hours. after that time it still showing CHARGING, round light bimkning and when I enter battery, it shows 50-70% and charging! when I make soft reset it show full and stop charging, anyone knows how to fix this?, I'm worring about my battery I have oryginal rom. Thanks for reply.
I know that it is in other tread but I try to find solution
Are you using the supplied charger?
This happened to me when I tried to charge it with a Motorola V3 charger.
yes, the original charger is one amper powered which is very strong, all other chargers I have in my car or whereever output much smaller amount in milliampers (starting from 200 mA even). BUT never forget that slower charging is always better to preserve battery durability

oryginal delivered with TP
How long did you charge it the very first time?
dificult to say, i thing over 8 hours, but battery is really ok, it keeps 2-4 days.
i think i got close to an hour wait for 3/4ths charge
so prob about an hour and a half for max???
I had this same problem yesterday. It was at 30% after 4 or 5 hours of charging, then after I reset it, it was at 100%...
had same prob. Fixed after hard reset

HARD reset help
I had this problem and was hesitant to do a hard resent and have to reload and re-enter all my settings.
Turns out I was charging through USB that was connected to a cheap hub that didn't supply enough power to charge the phone. Connecting my sync-USB cable straight to the computer fixed it all.
Silly oversight but it might help somebody with the same issue.
hmm, mine started doing this a few days ago...i do remember I used to have the usb charge hooked up directly to the computer but i noticed it was now connected to the usb hub. Let's hope hooking it directly to the computer fixes it...i can't rmember when i switched it to the hub ;p
EDIT:
yep, connecting it directly to the computer fixed it
Thanks!
even charging throught eh computer is slower than plugging it into teh wall. the usb charging only sends SOME of the power to the phone and therefore takes much more time than charging through a wall outlet...
Same thing happened to my wife's TP. Using Stock 1.90. When charging it would reach 85% and stop there irregardless of how many hours I charged it after that but after using the TP car charger it would resume the charge and reach 100%. So the TP would be normal for a few days and then the same problem would occur. Don't know why though but I would use the car charger to normalise it as soft resetting doesn't work.
Where as I'm using the Stock 5.05 euro without any probs....
i to have been having problems with battery life, and ive noticed as previously mentioned a significant differance between usb and mains charging. i charge my tp every night and last month i started to leave it on the usb rather than putting it on the mains in the bedroom. it was then i noticed a drastic drop in batterly life, after a full day at work (12hr approx) and average use ( txts/emails/games/vids) i wa left with only 10-15% battery. but when i returned to mains charging the same usage now leaves me with 45-55% battery. so now i just stick to mains charging through the night. just my 2 cents
This is what solved my problems...
Turn off your phone and plug it in to the wall, wait until it is fully charged. Then you can turn your phone on, and use it like you regularly would, but use it until you run out of battery, I mean 0%, it turns off randomly. Don't charge it again till it's fully drained.
Then fully charge it again, this time don't plug the phone back in until it reaches 1 or 2%.
Hope that helps!

yep, that's because the USB does not deliver the full power to teh device. that's why charging it via the supplied charger is much more efficient and powerful and lasts longer. USB should not be used to charge unless necessary for this reason
I had the same problem with I first got my Fuze. I even tried the ritual draining and recharging but nothing worked.
So I called AT&T and they swapped my battery for a new one. Problem solved.

Hello guys as the title Xoom charges the battery up to 21% and then goes directly to 100% but this is false as soon as 20 minutes of use and the device turns off. I tried several rom made by your great forum but same problem is with the original 3.2 that with the other. I want to specify that the Xoom was bought in New York but is now in Italy Thanks for the help you want me

Make sure if it's a U.S. xoom you use the U.S. roms. I don't think you can flash the euro versions without issues.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
This problem has always been I tried to change the rom just to see if anything was resolved, but also turned off when it does and 21% if the attack led to recharge for a few minutes and then immediately green and white and when I turn it on gives me a 100% false
But you can not charge from usb?

No the Xoom requires too much juice to be charged through usb. You must use the wall charger.
[Q] Help on the battery that is charged up to 21% and then nothing (Solved)
Ok guys problem solved. After I installed the root system calibration apk battery went all right now the tablet is charged up to 100% and the battery life of at least 4 days now and with little use. One unique thing I've noticed that when you unplug the charger for a few seconds you see the 21% and then 100%

So it sounds like you had a combination of battery in need of a fresh calibration and failure to charge due to trying to trickle charge via usb (which doesn't work). Glad it's all good now.
They are forced to use every now and then reloading the battery manager because when it stops at 21% and goes out shortly after the septum if the battery through the program to 100%
Hey I was just wondering if its bad for the calibration of the battery to leave the tablet docked in the keyboard all the time?
I dont use the tablet while its charging, i usually always charge it to 100% (while docked), and let the battery drain out completely (while docked) before charging it back up again.
Just don't want to mess up how the battery calibrates or anything (so in the future whenever i use the tablet by itself it won't drain out quickly due to bad calibration)
As long as you charge it to 100% and then disconnect the AC adapter, you won't have problems.
Since the TF has two batteries (one on the tablet and one on the dock), it will manage them both to drain one first and then the other.
The thing that messes up battery life is if you continuosly charge it despite not being drained. Also it isn't wise to let the TF die on battery and then recharge. Recharging the tablet when it asks for it (19-15% of battery remaining) is a good practice.
Cool thanks for the tips, this is my first Tablet (but my fourth android device), and was wondering because i noticed the dock drains out first and then the tab starts draining, but as the tablet is draining, it slowly trickle charges the dock at the same time (so it can still be used).
ex.
TF = 100%
Dock = 100%
then
TF = 98-0%
Dock = 0-3% (once the dock hits 0%, it starts charging off the TF but just enough to use it until the tablet dies)
PS. I created a sugar sync account from your referral so you could get more space lol
Sorry to revive an old thread... but for clarification, should you let both the dock AND the tablet drain before recharging, or is it ok just to recharge as soon as the dock runs out? this way the dock battery doesn't sit at 3% until the tablet battery dies (sometimes a 2-3 days)...
also, how long is too long to leave the tablet/dock plugged in after its been charged? (e.g. if you plug it in before you go to sleep it will be fully charged at least a couple of hours before you unplug it... is this frying the battery?)
thanks and much appreciated!
I dont think that leaving it plugged in is frying the battery, because it stops charging when its full. Also dual battery widget info shows when the battery was charged last time. e.g. last night around 4am plugged in tablet with dock to charge, woke up at 9am, both batteries were 100% (and not hot as while charging) and battery widget showed exact time when it stopped charging, which was around 7am. Rest of the time while plugged in it does nothing i guess

Thanks for sharing your experiences and the logic... That makes sense to me too... However, I do notice sometimes that the charger is quite hot still in the morning.... which makes me wonder. Add to this the whole idea of product life-cycle and planned obsolescence (and things such as internal non-user changeable battery) and I get a bit sceptical... but thats probably just me...
Modern batteries don't like to be drained and last longer if they're 'topped up' on a regular basis. The only time a battery should be drained now-days is if your calibration is off and the software needs to see where the 'top' and 'bottom' of the charge range is.
Also, if your charger continues to charge your battery once it's at 100% you should have that replaced as it's broken.
The old habit of 'deep cycling' your battery is for older style batteries.
If I'm not using my tablet it's on the dock, on a charge. It's fine.
Is there a way to monitor the dock battery?

try 'dual battery widget' available in market... (if this is what you are talking about...)
Or check out the themes/apps section for the official widget from the prime. There's one themed to look like our tf101. That's what I use.

Trying to be a showoff, I decided to let my Blaze drain down to near-zero so I could get a screenshot of the battery stats page in CM. Unfortunately, it shut down when it hit "0" on the battery meter, and when I plugged it in to charge a few minutes later, it came up to the battery charge screen with the icon of the grey battery, and then shut off.
I can get it into clockworkmod and download mode while on AC power or plugged into my computer, but neither will charge it. Upon reboot while off AC or USB power, the Samsung logo flashes for less than a second and then shuts off. No CM boot animation whatsoever.
A voltmeter shows 3.65 volts on the battery, but I'm assuming the available amperage is extremely low and can't provide the required juice to boot it up completely. Any ideas would be appreciated.
boot into cm, backup and flash a different rom and see if it will charge
i had to do that with a droid x i bought off ebay, someone had flashed a version of miui that had a bug which caused it to think the battery was always full and wouldnt allow the phone to charge

Amps is a measurement of current.
Voltage is a measure of the charge and 3.65 volts is still a good amount. The nominal voltage for the battery is likely to be 3.2v and you're nowhere near that. For example if it took about 3 hours to run the battery down from 4.2v (full charge) to 3.65v then you should be able to run the device for maybe a couple more hours before the battery is close to being drained.
[just a guess here]
The firmware does battery management. Shuts off the device when it thinks the battery is about drained and stops charging when it thinks the battery is at about full capacity. The software is probably out of sync with the physical state of the battery (calibration) and thinks the battery is at zero when it actually has plenty left. Or it has a bug. If you can't find an easy way to wipe/reset the calibration data then I'd go with the advice above and re-flash or flash something else.

Thanks for the quick response, I think your guess was pretty accurate. An hour ago I cleared the battery stats in CWM, and after a few more battery pulls and reboots at the Samsung logo I left it alone while plugged into the AC charger. Came back 45 minutes later to a warm handset with a black screen and after holding the power button down for a good 15-20 seconds I booted normally into CM with a 12 percent charge.
Because I was able to get into CWM and download mode just fine (and run off battery for a few minutes), I was starting to think I broke CM. Glad I didn't get punchy and reflash.
And yes, you're right about amps, I was implying amp-hours with the wrong term.
I have a locked & unrooted WW TF700 & genuine dock on JB 4.2.1.
A week ago I started to notice an issue where the tab would constantly drain whilst it should have been asleep. Overnight it would loose ~30% instead of ~2%. I tried a few settings, but couldn't seem to solve it. I decided to do a factory reset because I haven't done one since I last upgraded to jelly bean. That appears to have cured that problem, but has created two more.
The first problem is that I can't seem to charge the tab over 81% when being charged directly. If I then plug it into a fully charged dock it will charge to 90% but no more, even with the charging cable in the dock.
The second problem is that the tab now decides to shut off at about 30% battery left. It won't shutdown as normal, just go blank and won't boot up again without being charged a little first. I have read threads about artificially overcharging the tab, but a symptom of that is the battery level will remain at 100% for hours before starting to drain normally. My tab won't charge to 100% and will start to drain immediately after removing the charging cable. Regardless I have tried to drain and recharge overnight with the tab both off and on but the tab won't charge past 76% overnight in either case. Restarting multiple times doesn't help at all.
For the first issue I started to suspect the charger may be at fault. This is because if I charge the tab directly, it will never get past 81%. However, if I then plug it into the freshly charged dock it will charge upto 90%. I understand that the dock will never charge the tab past 90%, unless it is plugged into the charger. Does it assume in my case that it isn't plugged in to a charger even when it is? I should mention I am using the original asus charger. Frustratingly I can't just use my phone charger to see if it solves the problem due to the 15v of the asus charger. I have noticed a slight hum/buzz coming from the charger but I can't be sure that it didn't do that before. I have had issues with the internal connections not be pushed together quite right before and getting no charge out of it, but 'clicking it together' a bit more firmly did the trick there.
Even with an overnight charge, plugged into the dock to get it to 90% I now get terrible battery life. Roughly 30mins per 10% juice. Previously I was getting around an hour per 10%.
Does anyone have an suggestions for me on how to eliminate the charger as a problem, or say doing another factory reset on a 'full charge'? The only other thing I can think of is to let it drain, give it enough charger to turn back on, then turn it off and leave it unplugged overnight (I saw it mentioned in another thread). I really appreciate any help you can give before I have to try the dreaded warranty route!
Try this with it undocked. Let the battery discharge to zero, and leave it 24 hours.
Then recharge it fully. This seems to cure the battery calibration memory issues.most us know how you get on.
Luckily I have located an Asus charger to borrow and hopefully find out if it is just my charger or not.
I also tried out CPU-Z and the battery is reporting as only having 7mV. I'm sure that can't be correct as my HOX+ is around 3500mV, and 7mV just couldn't power anything. I don't know if this is just CPU-Z issue with reporting correctly, or a clue that there is something not right with my battery? Has anyone else tried CPU-Z or know what the mV should be roughly, fully charged say?
Unfortunately a different charger didn't solve my issue :'(
I've posted a screenshot to show what is happening. I'll try draining the battery flat and leaving 24 hours to see what happens then. Luckily I still have two months left on warranty.
Pretty annoying because everything else the tablet does is fantastic. I replaced my laptop with it and use it daily for everything.

Unfortunately things have become worse. I tried using the tab until it died (at around 50% battery this time...) and left for 24 hours as suggested. Unfortunately now I can't get the tab to turn on or take a charge at all. I have tried holding power button down, with vol up/down, for over a minute etc. Tried the reset button all numerous times with no luck. All I get is the LED blink twice when pressing the power button and this only happens when the charger is connected, otherwise nothing.
I have the phone number for Asus support and will be giving them a call tomorrow. I'm so glad I never unlocked my device!

Leave it for 24 hours not on charge first then try again. We've seen this happen so many times - the fix is to let it discharge completely.

Thanks Sbdags, I appreciate your response. I've read numerous threads tonight with similar issues. I did try leaving the tab for 24 hours completely dead overnight last night. I'll try it again (I don't know if the battery is dead or not currently) but I'll leave it unplugged as there is nothing else for me to do with it anyway!
OK, I thought I would complete this thread.
After leaving my tablet for a few more days not on charge I could seem to get no life out of it whatsoever so went down the RMA route and the result of that is in the following thread;
