how to get s-off there is so many ways and non of them work with me
There are two ways for this phone, one with older hboot and one with newer, you have newer hboot, there is a stickied thread entitled 'how to root and get soff with any hboot'
Or something like that, just do a little reading and you will get it. After you research and read and if you still have questions feel free to ask

Firstly, Hello to all, this is my first post over here. I had recently bought a Sensation XE 2 weeks ago after using my SE x10i successfully for 3 years (Which looks more attractive now that I have rooted it and installed a custom ROM, all thanks to XDA ). I decided to root my XE too, but ended up finding out that I had done the OTA update and now the process for S-OFF became a lot more complicated(for a noob like me ofcourse, this is my 2nd root only.).
I used this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21922297#post21922297
First unlocked the bootloader using HTCDev, then installed CWM recovery and then flashed a custom 2.3.3 ROM(Real Stock Experience) given in the guide itself which ended up messing up my camera and wifi. I found out that I could fix these errors if I flashed the boot.img when the bootloader was unlocked by HTCdev itself but till then I had already locked it and used Revolutionary on it. So all I did was backed up my Stock ROM and did a Perm Root as given here in Step 3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Now, everything's fine and I am running a rooted v2.3.4 Android with Revolutionary S-OFF, HBOOT 1.17.1111. But now I want to install a custom ICS ROM in it like COREDROID and ARHD but these require some FIRMWARE update before flashing the ROM's. I have no idea as to how I could do that, sorry to be so nooby, but it's my first time. If someone could tell me how to flash these ROM's properly I would be really thankful!

Hey man, thanks for the super-fast reply.
I opened up the guide and it is pretty appropriate for my problem, but one question it says HBOOT 1.27 everywhere but I have HBOOT 1.17. What do I do?
You can download the adequate firmware at the dev forum, put the file on your SD card, reboot your device to enter bootloader, and the firmware will auto upgrade.(hboot,radio,etc). Then you can flash custom Rom with recovery.

Hello everyone,
I’m a total rookie by the way and and have spent a decent amount of time reading on my own before posting anything here. I am wanting to flash cm9 on my sensation 4g. Based on some of the research I have done, before I can flash cm9 I first need to install stock ics in order to get the 3.32 firmware correct? I also thought I read somewhere that before I can update the firmware I first need to update the hboot version (currently my hboot is 1.17.1111) but now I can’t find where I read that.
As I’m reading some of the guides on how to flash these roms it seems like all of them are saying “make sure you have cwm recovery installed”. Well when I first rooted my phone I was watching some youtube videos and following the steps. For some reason the one I chose had me install teamwin recovery, so that is what I use instead of cwm recovery. Does that make any difference? Can I still update firmware and flash ics roms with twrp?

Get supercid,root,s-off and cwm after thats done first download your desired rom and also the 3.32 firmware first boot into recovery flash the rom..
Then when its done just power off hold volume down + power (make sure fastboot is disabled ) and update firm ware reboot delete the pg58img from root of your sdcard and voila!

well, you don't need to install the stock ics rom, but you need to flash the 3.32 firmware, that allows you to run ics roms...
I suggest you to install 4ext recovery, I don't know if you have to downgrade your hboot, mine was the right one and I don't know hot to do that, you'll find a guide or something like that on this forum...
if you have already rooted I think that you will not have any problem flashing a recovery or the fw...
and, my personal suggestion...if you want aosp experience flash aokp official rom, I tried both roms and aokp is more stock feeling

You have 1.17.1111 Hboot which tells me you are S-offed via Revolutionary. This means you can flash the 3.32 firmware that is linked in the ARHD ROM thread and then flash any Android 4.0.3 ROM you want to flash.
The Team win Recovery works just as good a Clockwork Mod Recoveryto me, 4EXT Recovery is my preferred re overy. You can use Team Win Recovery to flash any of the things you mentioned.

Hi there, before u say anything I have searched and searched for answers but not luck which is why I am psoting this...
I have a HTC sensation, locked boot loader, hboot 1.27, s-off with juopunutbear.
I have 4ext recovery touch and currently on xperianse custom rom..
I have tried flashing different roms for the sensation and at first I was able to install a few with the aroma installer but now I am finding it really hard to get a from that will flash... Every time I try to flash a from that I have used before I get, install aborted.. I'm not sure why this is.. I can't update firmware via boot loader as it loads zip file and then stops as though I never tried to update.. not sure if its my cid or just the fact I can't install custom kernels but I would really like to know what I can do.. and also while I'm on here, the Ubuntu for android uses a shared kernel... I contacted the company about providing me with files but no luck so if anyone has done it already, and I don't mean chroot either.. please let me know. Thanks guys.

Hi,
im a new member, and i just dont know anything about xda but guys i have a problem with my htc sensation xe.
the problem is that i recently unlocked bootloader of my phone via htc dev which gives me root priviledges but its still s-on, ive installed everything but when flash a custom rom my phone stucks in bootloop, i can only flash rom like ARHD, but i wanted to try ordroid and sense 4 roms but they all get stuck in bootloop. so that means i cant flash roms like that while s-on? cause the juopunutbears soff technique is to difficult so please tell me how can i flash sense 4 roms? ive tried everything.
hboot version: 1.27
firmware:3.32
and does anybody know when revolutionary guys are going to get updated so i can s-off my device with 1.27?

just follow the below guide to the letter
flashing ROMS with SON
Hi , I´m buy one htc one S and i want know more about root, the htc be purchsed in portugal and, i want also one form for root 100% secure.
I've heard about htc quick root , htc all in one S and others, but i do not know on which is more secure
Rooting is 100% safe when unlocking the bootloader via htc. We can't s-off yet so your at no real risk of bricking the phone unless you start messing around with system files. I suggest reading a few guides in the development section first

What is S-on and S-off ?
Unlock the boot loader(what this)?, i´m very noob in this area.
The forum have , tutorial for unlock these bootloader / root htc?
its not a problem ask as many questions as you need (but your kinda in the wrong section for posting questions)
turn your phone off and then hold the volume button down and press the power button and thats your bootloader (use the volume buttons to select options and the power button to select. dont worry you cant break your phone in the bootloader)
when you root your phone htc unlocks the bootloader so you can flash a custom recovery.
recovery is a program that allows you to format the memory card of any data, and lets you flash (install) custom roms of your choice.
when a phones has s-off that means you have greater access to your phone and but as we dont have access to s-off so we dont have to worry about explaining what is does or means.
pop over to youtube and and do some research on what root is and what it can do
when you've decided that you wish to root your phone please visit this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427 make sure you read it a couple of times before attempting it
3 more question.
Is even necessary install a custom ROM(step 3)?
There is no risk instal a custom room without knowing the region of htc?
The meteod for HTC quick root is safe?

Rooting will void your warranty. It's a good idea to know the region of your phone, so you'll know when OTA updates are sent to your phone. I wouldn't recommend using HTC Quick Root, as it doesn't unlock the bootloader and sometimes doesn't work. You don't need to install a custom ROM.

first id check what version of the phone you've got, download a cpu program from the market, and check your cpu clock speed
if its 1.5 then you've got an s4 but if its 1.7 then its an s3 then if you do decide to flash a custom rom then you'll need to flash the correct rom

No. S-ON means your write-protection for most partitions except system and data is on. S-OFF means that everything can be edited - you can flash older software versions etc.

If you go into the bootloader, it will say S-ON or S-OFF at the top. If you root, you will have S-ON still however you'll be bootloader unlocked which gives you some access, but not as much as S-OFF. There is no method to S-OFF the One S at this time.
