Sim card tray problem - Galaxy 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
My phone fell the other day and now every now and then my phone fails to detect the sim card and on top (next to the time) appears a symbol of the sim card with a question mark in it.
I think it might be a hardware fault and I want to try and repair it myself.
Does anyone have a link to a video of the tearing down and re-assembly of this phone?
Or is it a software issue?

unfortunately bro it is highly unlikely that you will be able to correct the problem urself... the sim card slot is attached with the motherboard so the only way it is going to be ok is by changing the whole motherboard...now if u r lucky enough to have ur phone under warranty then the service centre will do it for free otherwise the mother board will cost u like 4k + service charges would cost u about 5k

Thanks!
No I don't want to replace the motherboard, like you said it'll be very expensive. And my warranty isn't still active...
I'll just open it up, try and make sure everything is in place and clean it a bit.
But that video isn't of the Galaxy 3...

That's alright. I'll check it out.
The thing is, I want to sell this phone soon so I don't want to spend too much money repairing it.
But I don't want to sell it broken, so I want to fix it for as little as possible.

GFit's WIFI and BLUETOOTH won't turn on

Hi guys! Anybody here knows where to purchase or what to do about my phone?
My WIFI and BLUETOOTH won't turn on anymore. My phone was actually a FLOODED phone, and we brought it to SAMSUNG SERVICE CENTER. They did not open and cleaned the inner part of the phone (even the outer part). That's why my WIFI and BLUETOOTH thing got rust and now it won't turn on.
When I want to turn my WIFI on a message ERROR will show up.
When I turn my BLUETOOTH on nothing happens.
wrong section...
go to samsung customer care center again and be ready to pay them as mostly water damaged phones aren't covered under warranty.
it's a hardware problem and can't be solved by software upgrades.

And people like you are the reason the bootloader was locked.
I don't understand how this is even possible. Why would you think it was okay to Install a ROM over top carrier specific phone.
At the very least you could have asked to someone on the forum or created a thread if it could be done before you flashed it
Sent from my Paranoid Jelly S3
I didn't ask if I messed up. I know I messed up.
I Did my research. I used Odin successfuley to root my phone, flash clockwork and install a10 or so cwm 9 and cwm 10 roms. I screwed my imei up and fixed it myself thru qspt. All I asked for was a simple answer to a simple question.
Thank yo u
I think your missing the point the fact that YOU fubared your phone and then got a replacement tells us all we need to know. End of story lock the thread down.

if its anything like the epic, just get a usb dongle that will force it into download mode. Also take the battery out for 30 min. I'm proud to have an answer and not just a comment.

It's not an answer. I'll give you an answer, OP: You flashed the wrong ROM. You are now bricked. If you want to be unbricked, send it to a JTAG service http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/
Next time do a little more research. Clearly you missed step 1 which is NEVER FLASH A ROM THAT ISN'T MEANT FOR YOUR PHONE.
You know you guys could just be helpful instead of being very rude.
na do it yourself.

His way isn't a USB dongle. We see this at least 5 times a week in every section for this phone. People flash the wrong ROM (usually international) and they get no life out of it. The only way people have gotten it back was having it JTAGGED.

Instructions:
1. Turn off your phone and pull out the battery for about 10-15 seconds.
2. Just put the battery back and don’t turn it on.
3. Plug the USB Jig into the micro USB port on the phone.
4. After about 2-3 seconds, you can see the yellow download mode logo on the screen.
5. Unplug the USB Jig.
6. Connect your phone with USB cable to computer and then flash your phone via the program “odin”.
I'd try taking your battery out, holding the power button for a few seconds. Then leaving the battery out for 30 min first, before buying one.. I doubt it will work, but I have came out of bricks that way (blew my mind). Still prolly should do that when using the dongle.. MOST EVERY THING can have a dongle put into it, it's what the developers use to foce hardware into manufacturing mode, developer mode, customer mode, clear mem, maint. mode.

You already have the replacement. Just send the phone in. I doubt they will ever check.

The weirdest problem.

hi guys,
i seriously think i have the weirdest problem on my nexus 5, i looked for ages for someone with that problem. and didnt find.
ever since i've replaced my screen and my battery (pretty sure it's an original one) every now and than my phone just turns off.
the weird part is, it won't turn on until i plug my phone to the charger.
i can plug it even to one second, and than i can turn my phone back on.
and it won't turn on in any other way!
I have this problem for a long time so i gathered some facts:
* it can happen regardless of how much battery i have. it can happen in 90% and it can happen in 10.% but i did found out it is more likely to happen the less battery i have.
* it happens more when i use stock apps: google search, google maps, camera...
* it happens almost always when i take a picture with the camera , especially if i use flash
* it is more likely to happen if the device is wormer (after a long heavy use...)
* it is also likely to happen if i press the "back" button a lot of times rapidly to go back to home screen
Ask lg
Have you isolated the reverse power flux coupling?
This is not weird. Obviously something went wrong when you replaced battery and or screen.

That's fine, except no one here is going to be able to tell what you did or didn't do when you opened up the device and replaced the battery and screen. There's some very sensitive circuitry in there. Could be anything. Most likely NOT software-related or other folks would be having these same issues. and they're not.

You're describing basically the same issues I used to have with my old Samsung galaxy s4 when the battery got bloated. 3 times.. 100% bad battery.

Yes i had it. I didn't get a replacement as the usb port is not attached to motherboard. So the nokia care just changed my usb port in an hour.. so far so good. N yes it was so irritating that the usb port got loose bcz of no reason. But still the service is good of nokia.. so no complaint so far
Well, I had a N7p that came with issues in the headphone jack, so I gave it for replacement. The 2nd unit came, but after 2 months there was a weird problem. The default cable when plugged one side will not charge whereas if plugged the other side it will charge. Then after service so far new issues, but who knows.
And don't go with this phone if you're too reliant on your WiFi. Too many WiFi bugs in the latest security update.

This is getting some kind of a serious issue. It's really hard to connect the phone in the PC because of this lol. I will go to the seller on weekend and i will ask for some replacement. Thanks~
Yup. It does. Mine took 2 weeks. After receiving it back, port is working well.
I will skip this phone then. Thanks for the tips
btw: i don't have any problem with usb (or SIM slots, or Wifi or BT or GPS or battery drain, or Pie)

Me neither, if anyone also wants to read something positive other than complaints. I have the German model though.
