Finally!! I love Sonic!!

This app is worth every penny.

I just bought the game and is fantastic!! Now i'm remembering my childhood! :crying:

Looks good but can't really justify spending £2.35 on a port of something that I can emulate at pretty much full speed for free.
However, SEGA are very good to XP users so I will buy this when it goes on offer in a few months time, which it inevitably will.

It's worth it.
It plays differently MUCH DIFFERENTLY than on an emulator.
It's smooth as anything and widescreen, more characters, amazing menus, spindash and multiple soundtracks.

Gotta agree, this game is amazing and better than the emulation. Theres no lag whatsoever using this (on emulators they would lag when the megadrive would i.e. too many sprites on screen)
the bonus levels are really smooth aswell, it actually put me off quite a bit at first xD

SPINDASH... in Sonic 1??!?! INCOMPREHENSIBLE!!!

The special stages are much harder now to be honest because now they are quick and smooth, the genesis ones were slow and snappy.

Have to agree, I actually failed the first special stage a few times because of it..
Not saying it was a bad thing, they did need to be more challenging, I became too good at them after playing the original so much lol

I'm real tempted to buy... if he'd just add some achievements for Google Play Games I'd be all over this.

I'm sorry, did you just say multiple soundtracks? I've been looking all over the game's menus to find an option to change that...
To expand, being the nit-picky... I guess you could say purist, I am, I couldn't help but find little oversights that bugged me more than they should have, such as how the spindash's rev noise doesn't increase in pitch with each press of the action button or how the level-complete score tally is still using the Sonic CD timing leaving a good two seconds of nothing between the level-complete jingle and the score totaling, or how upon boot, a random sound effect will seeming become corrupted in RAM, becoming little more than loud static, or how the widescreen made several bosses more/less challenging, for example the Green Hill Zone boss was made even more ridiculously easy because you can no longer get cornered on the platforms, or how while the Sonic CD port gave you the option as to which spindash you wanted, this port didn't nor did it have the option for the super peel-out, or (though I may be wrong, as said above) the lack of the option to switch back to the old soundtrack, again, CD gave you a choice, so where's this one's?
*Sees pitchfork-wielding mob*
But er, yeah, it's a pretty good port/complete recode, it gives you Knuckles, Tails, Sonic & Tails, no Amy though. Plus one to emulation!, a snazzy menu, and a complete restoration of everything that was deemed "beta" by the Sonic community. This has to be my favourite feature of this port, the Marble Zone UFOs are back, the goggle monitor is back, the GHZ wrecking balls are back, the developers even went out of their way to add Sonic 3s elemental shields and abilities along with the Sonic 2 shield and Super Sonic! This game may need a few updates to fix its more glaring bugs, but I'd be lying if I said that this doesn't challenge even the best of Sonic Retro's disassembly mods!

I prefer playing the original with Tiger Gens. Sonic original is the best

Best xperia play game yet! Heck on any phone, just bc of the controls.
Awsome thanks for the heads up i bought it straight away lol

Bought! Works great with the control pad. One of the best games I've played so far in my play. And only $2.50 that's cheap!

Just downloaded and played for about 5 mins. Amazing. Graphics are awesome and the control is sweet. Best game on PLAY so far.
Reminds me a little bit of the Dreamcast game "Guts of Rage" I think it was called. So gory.

Looks great, plays great and is silky smooth.
Puts to shame other developers who charge a relative fortune for stuff that isn't half as good as this.
bought it,pretty sweet game but is there any use of the right touch pad or triggers?
Already played it loads on the iphone 4 months back, runs good on the play too and runs at 60fps! one of the best looking mobile games to date.
Yeah, this game is pretty good. Fairly inexpensive, optimized to take advantage of the Play's buttons. I enjoy it quite a bit. I couldn't imagine doing this with the touch screen. It would be so unintuitive and I would constantly get in my field of view due to large fingers.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this game and would recommend it to any person that likes action games, provided they can withstand a little cartoony gore. (Beheadings, Sliced in half laterally, sliced in half vertically, lots of blood from kills which does fade away).
Great game, looks really nice with those cartoony graphics and the controls work really well.

RPG Knight of the Earthends - Released today

Just sharing, and if you want to thank anyone for finding this game thank TLRtheory. I am a huge fan of Kemco's RPG games for our phone and saw this listed on TLRtheory's website (xperiaplaygamer.net)
So.... thank TLRtheory for finding this, not me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImtlbWNvLnd3cy52Z2EiXQ..
I would like to thank TLRtheory for his dedication to his work at his website and for his continued vigilance to scour the ends of the internet searching for games that utilize our underappreciated, yet kicka$$ phone. Thank you TL!
Yeah this is WAY better than everything else Kemco released on Android... even Aeon Avenger and Symphony of Eternity.
They certainly do have a knack for RPGs that maintain 80% and up in quality ratings :\
...AND THIS MUSIC!!!!! It's a wet dream for video game music lovers like myself

It runs a lot faster then their previous games. The battles. Are so fast I get whiplash and my eyelids flap in the wind. But yes so far its looking to be better then their others which were great in my opinion.
Also anyone else feel the final boss in Eve of the Genesis was incredibly almost unbeatable hard?

My problem was actually that Eve of Genesis' final boss was disappointingly weak.
Now, when we get to the post-game content you get an additional final boss sequence which is completely goddamned insane. I had to be on Lv135 to beat the *real* final boss.

My problem with these games is that people describe them as merely "solid", "well put together", "really fun", etc. But if I'm going to invest dozens of hours into an RPG, I dunno, I'd rather play one of the many untapped masterpieces on an emulator. I haven't played Terranigma, Chrono Trigger, or many of the other classics yet.
I'm glad they're out there and people are enjoying them, don't get me wrong.

I just went through it for probably the 30th time over the last couple weeks. No offense to Kemco, but their games can't even come close to the greatness of Chrono Trigger. Just my personal biased opinion since CT is my favorite game of evar. woopwoopwoop

My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (AVAILABLE NOW, FREE!)

Yeah so... I might be the only person here who's looking forward to this game. There's no official release date available yet, but Gameloft has announced that it will be available 'later this year' and will be on both iOS and Android.
From what I can tell it looks to be a city builder type game. Playing mini games to earn points, then using those points to buy houses, ponies, items...so on and so forth.
So my questions to you all is: Are you excited for this game? Do you think It'll satisfy My Little Pony fans? Will you be buying this? & If so how much are you willing to pay?
I personally think I will be a good game if they do 2 simple things. Listen to what the fans have to say, and have it reflect future episodes, meaning if new ponies make their appearance in season 3, I think Gameloft should add them into the game and to do as much as possible to have the game reflect the TV show. If they keep the updates coming this game should have some lasting appeal & replay value.
Check out the iPad game play demo and let me know what you think.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlBInHiJ-74
As a fellow brony, this excites me. /)
Like you said, as long as Gameloft listens to what the fans have to say. And of course new ponies and cannon names and the whatnot. And I hope that they include some of the maybe not so well known background ponies. Such as Lyra, Bon Bon, and Dr. Whooves, etc.. I'd probably pay anywhere between 5 and 10 dollars. Depending on how much content is actually in the game.
Possibly....even if I stopped watching it after season 2 episode 1....I still read the fanfics though lol.

Thanks for the heads up, my wife loves games like this and the more cutesy the better
Edit: just watched the video, no way will this run on her ****ty wildfire s
They could make great use of the Xperia Plays touch pads on this game, instead of touch swiping the screen to navigate you could just use the touch pads. And the mini games could make great use of the D-pad. The game has huge potential hopefully they put effort into this instead of just selling the name and making a quick buck.

The only 'major' issue I've come across is the inability to connect to Gameloft & stay connected.
It's a flaw in the game, I expect this to be fixed pretty soon considering most challenges have to do with connecting to gameloft and interacting with other ponies.
All in all a pretty good game tho, I've played it more than Halo 4 so far...

things get sort of expensive later down the road, but they don't force it on you. I'm level 23 and I haven't spent a dollar yet. As long as you manage your in game money you should be fine.

Not really, after you hit level 20 everything you need is pretty much there. I currently have 35,000+ bits right now and that number increases every 3 minutes or so. I've also done all the available 'challenges' for the time being (besides the GL ones obviously)
So yeah hopefully we'll see an update soon...

What are some good retro platformers?

I already have most of OrangePixel's games(Meganoid, INC, etc.) and They Need To Be Fed, but can't find any other good ones. I don't want something like Cordy or Robotto. I'd prefer something more retro-like and also PLAY optimized, if possible. Thanks.
Have you tried Don't look back? Only some of the play controls work. I've finished it and quite enjoyed it despite it's basic gameplay.
Project 83113 is also great but not really retro

LMAO, that looks like an Atari game! Maybe a little TOO retro, but I'll give it a try regardless. Thanks.

@UndisputedGuy I've already beaten Karoshi & Gunman Clive before, but Tap n Crash looks a lot like impossible game, which is good.
@TLRtheory Giana Sisters & Pixeline...No. Paper Monsters looks OK at most. These all seem too childish to me. Thanks anyways.
@Leraeniesh Unfortunately, I've already beaten every Metroid & Castlevania multiple times. It's too bad Metroidvania is dying. Great recommendation though.
Have you tried Megatroid? It's free but I don't think it's optimised for the Xperia Play
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Gunman Clive was way too short and I found Paper Monsters to be very very boring. I would certainly agree with the Lode Runner X recommendation even though it isn't a platformer. I would also try Ninjammin Beat-Jitsu even though it's a bit more of a rhythm based game.
@UndisputedGuy I will definitely check out Megatroid. It looks really fun! You're on fire today!
@BrianChase You're right, Gunman Clive was really short, but still fun. As for the other titles you recommended, I'll give them a look. Thanks!
Good point! In my tired state I forgot to mention how much fun I had with Gunman Clive. Great game, but because of that the shortness made me even more sad.
So I got Megatroid, and I gotta say it's pretty awesome. It's pretty much what I was looking for. I really like how the game randomly generates a level based on an entered code as well as all the upgrades in the shop. These give it a lot of replay value. BTW, it actually is Xperia PLAY optimized, but only in-game, which means the menu buttons are only accessible via touch. That doesn't really matter though.

[GAME]-Temple Run 2 FREE Discussion

Temple Run 2 is the acclaimed sequel of the most successful title of Imangi Studios
RELEASED ON Google Play:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.imangi.templerun2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu3paDJJLEw
A mobile game which has reached over 170 million download isn't just a game, it's a phenomenon. A sequel of such successful game has been globally awaited as a great event. That day has come. Temple Run 2 is hitting our touchscreens keeping the essence of its successful formula and adding some interesting new stuff.
Thus, gameplay is still the same: a 3D endless running game in which you have get as far as possible avoiding obstacles or gaps by jumping (swipe up) or sliding (swipe down). Actually, part of the success of Temple Run is due its mobile-native controls: use touchscreen gestures to jump and slide and tilt controls to move sideways and collect coins. Coins collected are kept in your bankroll and you can use them to purchase power-ups and items that will help you to get even further.
What about the new stuff? First off, Temple Run 2 has been graphically enhanced. 3D textures and outline are now neater. Actually, there's a smoother feeling due to both enhanced graphics and more natural environments: instead of those typical rigid gridded paths, in Temple Run 2 there are more curves, slopes and blind hills. A needed touch of reality.
In addition, the stage seems to be a floating temple where, besides gaps, obstacles and sudden changes of direction, you'll have to handle mine carts, zip lines and a bunch of new power-ups. In fact, one of the new features I liked most is its renewed upgrading menu, where you can see your level-up bar, achievements left and coins/gems in your bankroll. Use the latter to unlock new skills and characters: now there are up to new four characters to choose among.
In a few words, this is one of the best games you can currently download. Why is it getting a 4-star rating then? The core of the game hasn't been touched: the improvements introduced could have been perfectly added on an update of Temple Run. In my opinion, all this new stuff isn't enough for a sequel.

I do agree but it sucks that it is device specific and have to start all over again. So far, I restarted the game 6-8 times. Twice due to the fact that my phone crashed during an update and the remaining times because I changed my phone. Every time I switched, I finished all the objectives, all powers leveled up with all the hats/head gears and characters. Had about 6000 gems. I wish they can link this to some social media site. It is very frustrating.
temple run is so best game but these new updates are not so good.
