google music mp3 files - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

As I'm sure most of have by now I started a free all access google music free trial. I have downloaded some songs and I have found them and they are files titles random numbers with a .mp3 extension but on a computer they dont open and on my phone they only open with google music. Is there any way to play them as regular songs or will they only work with google music because of drm?

Try opening one of the files with video lan. If that program can't play them then drm is preventing it.

Its a subscription based service, so I'd be surprised if it let you play the MP3's seperate from the Google Music player/service, etc. That would defeat the purpose of the subscription model.

Best Music App since only 16gb

I'm sure for most of us this is our first device with non-removable storage. Welcome to iphone-ville territory (WHY HTC?). Anyway, for those of us who enjoy music on a regular basis and prefer not to store all of our music on the phone, what app do you use to cloud-sync? I've tried google music but it seems limited and the upload is very slow. So what is your preferred method to listen to music?
Pandora and Grooveshark!
those apps are good for random playlists. But im talking about your own personal music library. I like the htc music app, but its useless if I can't store my entire music library.
Google Music upload is slow? Are you kidding me? I mean, maybe the initial upload - but after that, it's super fast and auto adds songs you add to your music collection instantly. I love it.
I like and pay for Spotify.
It integrates my itunes collection including playlists and I can sync whatever I want for offline playback.
I pay for Spotify as well and Im coming from Zune marketplace, of which I loved! Spotify is just as good imo and I don't find that it sucks my battery dry within an hour either.
Google Music and Spotify.
Off topic slightly but since some of use google music where and how does it store music for off line listening? Does it store them as actual MP3 files or something else and how do remove them when no longer wanted? Thanks in advance

Not sure how it is stored, but basically you go to the Music app, then you hold down on an album, hit "Make availible offline" and it downloads is somewhere. Then after you want to delete it, hold down on it again, and uncheck "Make availible offline" Its really awesome, try it out if you haven't already.

yeah thats what im referring to when I speak of uploading. Good to know it gets faster because that was my only issue with google music.
Audiogalaxy hands down. The best sound quality out there (IF YOU HAVE A GOOD QUALITY LIBRARY) You stream your own personal library from home. You can log in from any computer anywhere and have your playlists and library. it caches wonderfully. sounds better than pandora, slacker, tune in, iheart, lastfm all of them. All my music is either lossless or itunes aac highest quality and it sounds amazing. It uses your itunes playlist also. the best thing is its FREE! 5 of my friends are logged in to my library at all times.. its in the market.. Audiogalaxy
yeah I just downloaded audiogalaxy. It uploads alot faster than google music. Liking it alot so far
Check Amazon MP3 player.
Audio galaxy is OK if your fine with being the server ... instead of Google...

amazon got my monies ages ago with prime, and then they released their mp3 service before google. I honestly don't like how google music adds random tracks based on your "likes" I have a zune and zune pass, when I wanna explore I do it there.
I download all my music from zune and then upload the mp3s to amazon and call it a day.
I keep a solid 2gb on my phone, the rest is easily streamed with my unlimited LTE plan, and if you root and install either rogers or asia rom (I have asia) you don't even have to worry about att throttling your data

[Q] where is downloaded music from Google play?

Ok so the shine is already wearing off the new update that gives Australia the option to purchase music from Google play, I've just bought an album and downloaded it and I wanted to play it in Poweramp but can't find it? Can anyone tell me why
It will be played and stored within Google play music.

But what if I don't want to play it through Google Music app I did just purchase the album I should be able to play it through what ever i like
I believe it is because the files aren't actually downloaded. You stream them from the cloud using the google music player application.

If you read the instructions some where it gives you the option to download as opposed to stream .Either for your uploads or paid for music .
jje
So I contacted google about this, yes there is an option to download through the apo or through your pc using music manager (googles answer to itunes I guess).
If you download directly from within the app on your device you can only play it through google music.
If you download it via your pc I usjng music manager you can side load it and play it though whatever you want ie poweramp.
Quite frankly I dont see why google have to make it so difficult and just allow us to download it directly to our Devices and play it how we want for gods sake

Can't locate Google music local files

Is anyone able to find it? I'm using root explorer and when I go into sdcard android .com.Google.music files its not in there. As a matter of fact, both files and cache show up ad empty. I want to use n7 player to play the Google music I have marked as offline. Thanks.

Google Music off-line cached music files can only be played by Google Play Music. It's done to protect the music from being copied. I don't have root currently so I can't tell you the exact location, but I know I found them on my last phone but their names are obfuscated and they will not play with any other MP3 player.
The only way to do this for tracks you have bought (but not All Access tracks) is to download them to a computer first and then copy them over to your phone.

That is a good point. I was finally able to find it on the Nexus 5 after looking at every possible folder. It's in data/user/0/com.google.android.music/files/music I can't get any other music play to play when it's in that folder. However, if I copy it over to the typical sdcard/music folder, N7 plays it right away, albeit without the mp3 tags or artworks. But since all my music is in Google Play, and I have a process on my computer to autosync my new songs to google play, I'm just going to stick with the Play Music. I actually really like Play Music, but was just exploring other music players. There's really no point to when we have such a good system with Play music.

[HELP] Google Music Manager download

Hi Guys,
I'm from Brazil and I just bought a Nexus 5 to migrate from an old iPhone 3GS and I'm trying to sync all my iTunes Playlists to the new device, I saw that the Google Music Manager is the simplest way to do this but I can't access the Google Music page from my country. I tried to use a VPN service to enable it but needs a credit card to do the finish the process. Can any good soul download the executable and upload for me? Yes, I google it a lot and couldn't find...
Thanks a lot!
Google Music Manager is great for getting all of your music uploaded to Google Music, but if that's not available in your country it won't be much help to you. EDIT: By this I mean that even if you get the Music Manager to install and let you upload your music, you won't be able to get it back down to your phone.
I would use DoubleTwist
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doubleTwist.androidPlayer
DoubleTwist is a music player that has support for syncing with iTunes.

That's that I want, only sync the songs to the phone, I'm not intended to use Google Music, I use another app to listen my musics.

Right, that's not what the Google Music Manager is for. The Google Music Manager uploads songs to the Play Music service. You can then use the Play Music app on your phone to play back the songs. You can download the songs through the app as well, but they are saved in such a way that only the Play Music applications can play them (technically other players can play them, but the metadata is not saved so you can't actually view the song names or any artist/album info).
Just forget about the Music Manager, it's not what you want. Download DoubleTwist on your phone and computer and it will let you sync your iTunes library directly.
Thanks for the answer, I'm already using it.

Manage music.

Hey guys.
I've been using Google play music since it came out, but I have a big problem with it and finally I've had enough.
Every time I want to try a new music player or use me music in other apps or so, Google play just doesn't allow me to do that.
I mean Play Music is a great app and a great service. But if I wanted "rules" like this I'd use an iPhone xD.
So I went ahead and started downloading my 6089 music to my computer, and now I'm looking for a program to manage and organize and decide which ones to copy to my phone.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
Do you use Google play music? Or have the same problem.

you can use any music player you want, but you can only play music stored in google play with google play. to think otherwise is borderline absurd. you cant play pandora in another app. can you?
Isn't Pandora a streaming service? The music files in Google play music are MY music files, so what I'm trying to say is that I'm upset that they don't allow me to use my music in other apps just because it is stored in their service.
This is something I'd expect from iOS not Android.

ok, i understand what you mean, and there is a solution for this.. you can go to the desktop browser site www.google.com/music (destop, not mobile) and download whatever of your songs you want, itll be in a mp3 format, and itll download to your download folder. you can play these with any music player.
I'm not being clear enough. I apologize.
By musics (songs) I mean the ones I have stored offline.
Those are the ones I wish I could use on other apps.
Again, sorry about that.

youd need to download them to play in other players, as google uses its own format to stream an play in the app. other players can not play that format(probably).

From my understanding Google play music stores the songs in its own database so only it can access the files. Google made it impossible for other players to play it.

right, in its own proprietary format. which is why it has to be downloaded first(via the desktop site).
When you stream music from Google Play Music, it saves those music files on this location
/data/data/com.google.android.music/files/music
That's the reason no other player can access it. It's named like "1234.mp3".
If you are rooted, I remember there's an xposed mod to move it to SD card or somewhere else.
You can technically play Google music files in any player as it stores them in native mp3 format in /data/data/com.Google.android.music/files. The problem is you'd have to move them to /sdcard and also the files have no title or tags.

You say you have no issues with titles, yet your bottom screenshot shows files without titles... i.e, the file name is not the song name. There is no identifier.

YEah we're talking about downloading music through play and playing it in other music apps... It can be done but it doesnt bring through any tags and the file names are just numbers.
Let me trow a question at you guys.
What do you use to manage your songs?
Do you all use Google Play Music?
