[HELP] Google Music Manager download - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I'm from Brazil and I just bought a Nexus 5 to migrate from an old iPhone 3GS and I'm trying to sync all my iTunes Playlists to the new device, I saw that the Google Music Manager is the simplest way to do this but I can't access the Google Music page from my country. I tried to use a VPN service to enable it but needs a credit card to do the finish the process. Can any good soul download the executable and upload for me? Yes, I google it a lot and couldn't find...
Thanks a lot!

Google Music Manager is great for getting all of your music uploaded to Google Music, but if that's not available in your country it won't be much help to you. EDIT: By this I mean that even if you get the Music Manager to install and let you upload your music, you won't be able to get it back down to your phone.
I would use DoubleTwist
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doubleTwist.androidPlayer
DoubleTwist is a music player that has support for syncing with iTunes.

So, are you saying that even if I downloaded the executable program to my PC, I was unable to sync my iTunes songs?

That's that I want, only sync the songs to the phone, I'm not intended to use Google Music, I use another app to listen my musics.

Right, that's not what the Google Music Manager is for. The Google Music Manager uploads songs to the Play Music service. You can then use the Play Music app on your phone to play back the songs. You can download the songs through the app as well, but they are saved in such a way that only the Play Music applications can play them (technically other players can play them, but the metadata is not saved so you can't actually view the song names or any artist/album info).
Just forget about the Music Manager, it's not what you want. Download DoubleTwist on your phone and computer and it will let you sync your iTunes library directly.

Thanks for the answer, I'm already using it.

iTunes

Anyone know the best way to sync my nexus with iTunes? I've tried double twist and I don't like it as much.
I don't use iTunes, but I hear iSyncr is pretty good.
How dare you mention that program here jus kiddin' ... i dunno never tried it
Winamp should do the trick.
On your PC:
Get the Google Music Manager program (.exe) from Google
Install it to your Windows PC
Set it up and select the option that allows Google Music to sync automatically from itunes.
On your phone:
Download Google Music app and select your gmail account.
After initial sync is finished everything in your itunes will be in the Google Music app.
They will stay synced after that.
I use iTunes agent. It does the trick.
If I use google music I won't have any issues with some of my songs not being on my phone or not being able to play if I'm not in a good data spot will I? I did some research it looks like its a good way to go about I don't have a good media library I didn't wanna sacrific all my phones memory to all music but if I had to I am willing to.
I use isyncr and it works really well it cost a few dollars but good investment and the wifi plugin is a big plus
Just saying Amazon is usually cheaper than the for-mentioned excel spreadsheet music store

If you are on a mac try this one Easy Phone Tunes
Just create a playlist with the music you want to sync, open app, sync DONE
I use iSyncr, tried a few others and once in a while album pictures or info didn't come out the same way they were on iTunes. Gets the job done for me.
Open itunes. Copy all music and drop in music folder on phone.

Does isyncr refresh playlists and remove songs that are not in iTunes library. I hav dragged and dropped in all honesty I like having the playlists from iTunes to I think I'm stuck between Winamp or isyncr.

yea you can set it to delete songs not in the playlist and the playlists do refresh
Right on theres what I've been looking for then. I was excited about google music but it was taking forever to upload my library of only 1535 songs and it'd probably take longer to be on my phone. And I was thinking since its cloud where I don't hav data or lose data the music won't play or it will buffer. That's just what I think anyway
oops double post my bad
try double twist, I use google music and just sync mine to the cloud using Itunes but if you are really apposed to Itunes thats a really good alternative
Im having a same trouble, but my problem is with all the syn with itunes.
The window says its syncronized but if i look in the phone i dont have nothing :S.
Sorry for my bad english.
Use google music. It' s hastle free. You have access to your library, as long as, you have a signal, or you can make songs available off line.

Best way to manage music?

Anyone know a good way to manage music with a g2x??
I have well over 2k songs on my itunes. I have them all on my g2x, but it seems to have a poor music managing system.
Songs/Artists/Playlists are duplicated many times, playlists duplicate the songs within them sometimes, etc.
I'm wondering if theres a good software to manage the music on my phone?
Something comparable to itunes preferrably
I just want to be able to make playlists on my computer without them duplicating on my phone.
I've tried doubletwist, itunesagent (which doesn't copy playlists), and even winamp.
i'm just using Google Play
I'm just using Google Play Music as well and transfer my files via mass storage. Now I use the cloud for Google Play Music and just keep a few albums on my SD card. I have no problems with duplicates or any other issues.
You have to get a tag editor and
Make sure there filled out right... iTunes fixes them but the music players don't.

Kplaylist + MediaMonkey + Google Play
All my music is on an a private web server that can stream all my music. I stopped using iTunes a long time ago, but all my music is on this web server.
http://www.kplaylist.net/
If you can setup an Apache Service with PHP, you will love this app. Its the only thing I use and get my music anywhere.

MediaMonkey
http://www.mediamonkey.com/
I only use this to update the ID Tags of all my songs and add the album picture from the web. Its a bit tricky, but what I do is, when I decide I want to add and album to Google Play I tag and add the picture album then upload them.
I have like 40 gigs of music, and slowly have converted to Google play. I fix the tags and albums as I go. Its worked so far
Sometimes the picture or the album name comes out wrong, have to re-upload or manually correct it once its inside Google. It happens sometimes, especially if mediamonkey can't find the rare song online.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Google Play
If done right, all the songs will be properly tagged and the album picture inside. Its running better now then when it was called (Google Music). Used to crash alot. The only decision you have is "Make available Offline"
In the end, when its nicely organized, I use Google Play way way more.

I've been using Doubletwist and it copies my playlist from itunes just fine
I use Banshee Media Player. I have it set up to sync one specific playlist. It works in one-click and it even converts my FLAC files on the fly to V9 mp3! Even better, even though I have it set to sync one playlist, it keeps track of which tracks belong to other playlists too. I use it on Ubuntu but I think the sync options work on Windows too.
Edit: It also keeps my media tagged, downloads album art and sorts the files into an [Artist]>[Album] folder structure.

[Q] where is downloaded music from Google play?

Ok so the shine is already wearing off the new update that gives Australia the option to purchase music from Google play, I've just bought an album and downloaded it and I wanted to play it in Poweramp but can't find it? Can anyone tell me why
It will be played and stored within Google play music.

But what if I don't want to play it through Google Music app I did just purchase the album I should be able to play it through what ever i like
I believe it is because the files aren't actually downloaded. You stream them from the cloud using the google music player application.

If you read the instructions some where it gives you the option to download as opposed to stream .Either for your uploads or paid for music .

So I contacted google about this, yes there is an option to download through the apo or through your pc using music manager (googles answer to itunes I guess).
If you download directly from within the app on your device you can only play it through google music.
If you download it via your pc I usjng music manager you can side load it and play it though whatever you want ie poweramp.
Quite frankly I dont see why google have to make it so difficult and just allow us to download it directly to our Devices and play it how we want for gods sake

Can't locate Google music local files

Is anyone able to find it? I'm using root explorer and when I go into sdcard android .com.Google.music files its not in there. As a matter of fact, both files and cache show up ad empty. I want to use n7 player to play the Google music I have marked as offline. Thanks.

Google Music off-line cached music files can only be played by Google Play Music. It's done to protect the music from being copied. I don't have root currently so I can't tell you the exact location, but I know I found them on my last phone but their names are obfuscated and they will not play with any other MP3 player.
The only way to do this for tracks you have bought (but not All Access tracks) is to download them to a computer first and then copy them over to your phone.

That is a good point. I was finally able to find it on the Nexus 5 after looking at every possible folder. It's in data/user/0/com.google.android.music/files/music I can't get any other music play to play when it's in that folder. However, if I copy it over to the typical sdcard/music folder, N7 plays it right away, albeit without the mp3 tags or artworks. But since all my music is in Google Play, and I have a process on my computer to autosync my new songs to google play, I'm just going to stick with the Play Music. I actually really like Play Music, but was just exploring other music players. There's really no point to when we have such a good system with Play music.

[Q] Google Play Music: Kept Music

I don't like the Google Play Music application much, so basically what I was wondering was if I could play kept google play music songs and albums in another player such as PowerAmp somehow. From what I have seen there is no way to do this because google incorporates some sort of DRM in all of their music files, which makes sense, because they don't want people just copying and pasting kept music files that they didn't actually buy. I have determined the location of the saved music files to be in "root\data\data\com.google.android.music\files\music" if I am in the wrong spot please let me know. I have pulled the saved music files (MP3's) from this location but can not manage to play them in any music player. I also tried running them through a converter just for the hell of it but the converter instantly crashes when I try converting the file. I don't think there is anything that can be done about this but if anybody has any ideas please let me know!
not possible. stop trying
I don't think you can get them from your phone but you can most definitely download the songs to your computer as regular mp3's. You can then put them on your phone and use any media player.
on a desktop/laptop, open google play music. pick what songs you want, then press download. the downloaded songs that you got using google play music desktop can now be played in other music applications.
Even still...if you have not purchased the song, you cannot download it. All of the music in "My Library" that you've uploaded can be dl'd but not songs you randomly hear and "Add to my Library"
Unless I'm doing something wrong....
You can not download music on a pc unless you have purchased that music. On the android application there is however and option to download music to the device in a hidden location (root\data\data\com.android.google.music\files\music). You can download them, but like I said they are encrypted or have some sort of DRM incorporation so you can not play them anywhere but within the play music application. I don't think it's possible. I just wanted a few opinions on it.
