I tried installing the new Google Hangouts and it tells me that it is not available for the Note 8! Any ideas why?

Mine says it is installed on my device from the web play store, but it is the Google Talk app. i can't delete Google Talk to see if re-installing the app would work (non-rooted.) Strange.

I am rooted, and can't uninstall either! only disable...

Google Talk turns into hangouts after install. I just downloaded the apk from the Web. But I see a download link on xda as well:

Note after I installed the apk, it still had a Google Talk icon. But it turned into a hangouts icon overnight.

I'm using an Archos G9 and all I had to do yesterday was sideload the APK from a mirror (not the Play Store link) and as soon as I finished installing it, it was updated from Talk to Hangouts. So if my crappy G9 can get it, you should be able to get it on that fly-ass N8 of yours! Best of luck!

I'm having problems with my sign in. So, I disabled the Video Hub app.
My wife, however, got her credits and she is using the app flawlessly, and we bought the same tablet at the same store.

Are you both on the same rom version / csc code?
Now I am having this issue with my Thunderbolt with the latest FB update. On WIFI no issue, but no go on 4G, wifes HTC Rezound has no issues with the updated version either. This is very frustrating for sure. I have uninstalled the app, cleared cache, pulled battery, etc. I have reported to FB too, but wanted to see if others here are having same issues.
Here's what works for me, I NEVER use the facebook app, I delete it from my phone completely and log on to facebook mobile with my brower and then add it to my bookmarks.
Interestingly enough mine is actually working better than it has been in a while. The only issue I have is when my 4G flutters up and down. I am currently unrooted and stock as if my 4G keeps having this issue I am going to be doing some yelling down at Verizon.
Have you tried using another app like Friendcaster?
Remove, install older version from backup, disable auto update.
Backup often! Airdroid is the bom for that.

I'm not having any issues with it working fine here all my emails from three accounts synced. No problems try uninstall and 're install

I am using the new hangouts, I haven't used video calls, ever, so I don't care about that, and MMS I use so rarely as to not care about that either. The SMS part works great for me so far.
MMS works as well. I'm using all the files leaked on Android Police flawlessly. Even the launcher.

I installed the .apk and pushed the modified file from XDA, per an article at AndroidPit. No issues for me on my Optimus G Pro.

I'm diggin this too. That dial is pretty cool.
Anyone else having an issue with it saving your Samsung account?... I'm having to manually sync that account via settings or it won't log me in. Kinda annoying.
