[Q] Sense based ROM's won't work on my HOXL - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi every one ! since I rooted my hoxl I have only flashed aosp ROMS not sense based roms , so yesterday I decided to flash one (Hakataxl) when the phone booted up I cooldn't pass from the lock screen when I tried to slide the ring , boom reboot I even flashed the ROM twice !
and flashed another rom (VIPER) the same thing happend please help me

Also did you do a full wipe in twrp? Factory reset, system, cache, dalvik cache?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

I'm on 1.09 hboot and after I switched From liquidsmooth Rom to viper, viper wouldn't boot. I actually has to flash kernel separately. And instead of the viper boot screen liquid smooth screen kept popping up. The Rom would boot but crash and reboot once I tried to do anything with the phone.. so maybe try flashing a sense kernel after Rom install regardless of your hboot. Also make sure you wipe everything venomtester said

Is your screen not working at all? Are your volume buttons still active at the welcome screen?
If this is the case it sounds like you need to downgrade your touchscreen firmware. This can be done here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159863
If they're not working well I've got no idea

2.4.1.0 by the way what does the "system" in Wipe menu deletes?

Its a blessing to be able to use only aosp lol!
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2

"System reboots on Sense" is almost always "out of date firmware".
You need to flash a firmware.zip for Jellybean ROM's.
There is one floating about in the ViperXL thread that contains a few things you need and avoids things like hboot 2.14 etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868236
"WiFi Partition Updates".
The other way to do it is to get a first round 3.17/3.18 ota and flash the firmware.zip in RUU mode.
I say first round as many carriers are now onto their second 3.17 and they are not complete firmware.zip and lack many of the firmware files.
The first round ones are all complete.

Well tell me your tweaks or kernel or whatever you use cause I get 7-10 hours normally

No tweaks. I just use greenify to nullify any wake locks and disable any radios I'm not using.
I get about 16 hours checking texts, listening to tunein radio to and from work.
Web surfing. About 3-4 hours screen on.

Yeah I think im a more heavy user any ways will install greenify and flash that jacob rom ... any cpu governors? or just on demand

I just use on demand. Though I have used smartass v2 and Wheatley in the past which also yielded good results.
I only use the Jacob kernel for swipe to wake, otherwise I would probably use stock.

What is the best recovery we have ?

Hi I'm using CMW currently and I don't think It's fully setup for our phone and the issue I'm having I can't charge my phone with the power off when I try to the phone powers on when I plug it in and boots to recovery by itself. I tried koush cmw and I'm currently using mondaco cmw I think It's called same issue with both it also just feels like there isn't enough options.
I just download goomanager from the play market and I'm thinking of trying TWRP I read that the back ups between twrp and cmw aren't compatible so I'll just make an extra back up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm using TWRP now after using cwm for the last month. I think TWRP has better support for the hos. Never had this charging issue though.

TWRP is good, very nice features! BUT : It is not compatible with Aroma for now, so, as many packages (applications, some ROMs...) uses it, I went back to Touch CWM (5.8.3.1) for compatibility reasons, which is also a very good and "standard" flavor.
It works with Aroma now, I used it with the TweakMachine

I really liked his recovery--donated too--nice themes--
I installed TWRP the phone can charge with the power off now, and I like the different options more, this will hold me over until 4ext. When flashing new recoveries are battery stats lost ? Should you wipe battery stats ? Or no.

It does charge in recovery. HTC phones more or less have the booting up into recovery problem/issue/feature??? after installing cwm. I wipe battery stats after every new rom I flash after its fully recharged.

TWRP is awesome. I've only used cwm for years. When I got this phone I gave TWRP a go and can't go back.
Flashing roms without needing to fast boot the img is awesome. The look is awesome, themes are cool. All the extra features like built in file manager, great!

I was also having the issue of not being able to charge while the phone was off without it booting into recovery. I seemed to have "fixed" the problem by turning on Fast Boot in the Power settings menu.
I may try TWRP, since it seemed like CWM always had one issue or another on my old HTC Evo, and this charging issue isn't a big thing but isn't helping me trust it
I'm using the classic non-touch cwm. I had issues restoring nandroid's with twrp so switched to cwm, which i had been using happily on my previous phones.

Can't flash Beatmode v4, any suggestions?

I've tried flashing v4 probably 4 or 5 times now. I've even tried v3 a couple times. Neither stuck... Ove contemplated just factory reset then going through the whole process again..
What am I doing wrong/not doing?
All caches get wiped before flash.
EDIT: I was just able to flash over the ElementalX kernel just fine. I'm still confused on why Beastmode isn't flashing. When I go to install from TWRP, the .zip install time is no less than 2-3 seconds long and then it says finished.

Lol, I should say that it would only be a test.. There is no way I am getting rid of ViperXL 2.1.2. Love this ROM.
You think I may have done something with my phone to where it wouldn't install v4 when I tried to flash over the ViperX ROM do you? I keep thinking about that, I don't know if that would have any effect on anything considering I was able to RUU back to stock and flash my current ROM.

That brings up a good point.. but since your RUU'ed it should have gotten rid of any corruption applied by the international ROM..
edit: btw, IceColdJelly is an international ROM that will brick your phone,, currently there is no fix (for 2.20).. don't even try it buddy

This I know, I saw that when I found ViperX 2.6 in the international thread... Going to try the stabilizer from the v4 thread and see if that will work. read a post about page 14 +/- a page said to try the stabilzer and see if that would work.
Edit: Speaking of no fix for bricked 2.20, how's that coming? Jtag looking like the only method so far? Haven't read your WIP thread in awhile.
Edit2: Stabilizer didn't do a thing. I really want to be able to flash this kernel... :crying: Seems like it does a really nice job for everyone that has it working... Might end up with going back to RUU again, when I feel I am competent in flashing everything correctly, in the next day or so.
So I've tried another option..
Trying to pull the boot.img from the kernel using "adb pull /tmp/abootimg". Since that looks like where it makes the boot.img in Aroma. Didn't work.
Just flashed ElementalX v1.14 and that works just fine.

I've used Bruce's CM10 builds and recently switching to the official Cyanogen CM10 builds. Last week I tried out Nikez's JB 4.2 AOSP build. I had great wifi on all of them. Like satndin gout in my front yard with the wifi router in the basement in the back of my house good. So it's not the ROM itself. (Though it could be a combination of the ROM and some app or mod you're running)
You might have a weak connection on the wifi anteneas inside the back case of the phone. Take the back cover off, look at the gold pins on the phone, and make sure they are all raised up. You can take a tiny screw driver and pry them up a little more to make sure they are getting good contact with the back cover (which is the antenea). Juts be VERY careful when doing it.
It might not help, but it's a cheap thing to try.
I have tried that too but its strange I can switch to a ICS ROM and I will have full bars in my whole house but with the jelly bean ROMs its one or two bars unless I'm right next to it.

I've got some WiFi tweaks in my kernel that might help. My kernel, Sultan, has the WiFi voltage increased to the max and it has some WiFi signal parameters altered at the kernel level so WiFi networks with weaker signal can be seen. If my kernel doesn't really help then I can build a kernel just for you that forces the system to use the BCM4329 WiFi driver instead of the BCMDHD WiFi driver; that may help. BTW, if you download my kernel then make sure you download the one for Jelly Bean and not the one for Sense.
I tried your kernel and my WiFi is still weak compared to ICS but does seem a little stronger
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
This is a confirmed issue, its not kernel related, because even with the kernels with improved wifi voltage (which is more voltage than stock), its still a weaker signal than on an ICS based rom.

most users who are S-ON(like me) 4ext has a feature which calls smartflash
before flashing any rom you have to enable smartflash before flashing(if you are S-ON)
and then flash the rom
for S-ON devices it is one way to boot a rom after installation
if you are S-OFF you don't need that feature
So if I'm s off then ext4 isn't really a must have for me

4ext was really buggy for me. 1 of the many bugs I experienced with 4ext was that sometimes after flashing a kernel the phone would get stuck at the HTC screen and I would have t use fastboot to flash a boot.img file in order to get my phone to boot; flashing another kernel in the recovery didn't work and it would still be stuck at the HTC screen -_- If you have S-OFF then use TWRP. Just my 2 cents.

HTC One X restarting itself constantly

That is not logical reasoning. A corrupted ROM flash can cause a wide range of issues, multiple or just one.
Also what version of twrp are you using? Did you wipe cache dalvik system and factory reset prior to flashing?

Fastboot erase cache after then wipe everything and flash the ROM again.

it's a bug with 4.1 jellybean. Use titanium backup to backup swiftkey, and other widgets that resets on boot. Then uninstall them in settings and go back to titanium and restore the apps and data.

I'm also having constant reboots and crashes, 3-4 times a day and if I go to sleep I always wake up to find the phone off, which is extremely annoying and somewhat concerning as I need to be reachable by some people. I'm using the TeamEOS ROMs. I haven't found a custom ROM yet that doesn't crash constantly after a while. They all seem stable at first but as time goes on the crashes get more and more frequent, I wipe and reset as recommended (cache and dalvik) with every flash.
S-ON
HBOOT 2.14.0000
Radio 0.24p.32.09.06
OpenDSP v34.1.0.45.1219
TWRP v2.7.1.0
Any recommendations for a truly stable ROM? Or a Fix? RUU? (haven't done that before, don't even know where to find it)

sense 5 r3 problems

I have flashed sense 5 r3 multiple times, and also did a ruu twice. No matter what i do, that rom's callling app wont work. I have twrp 2.6. Its not a bad download either. Any tips or ideas on how to fix this? currently on pacman rom and calling works fine. When I click on the calling app when i dial a number and call it says "com.android.htcdialer has quit" I have looked around for a while, but could not find a solution.

Missing lots of vital info. What hboot? S-off or S-on? If S-on, did you remember to flash the boot.img seperately via fastboot?
fastboot erase cache, then use recovery to format cache.
Worked for me.

No offense, but it sounds a bit rude to day "don't tell me . . . " when folks are just taking their free time to help you. If you did it, you should tell us exactly what you tried in the OP (which you did not, OP was lacking much basic info). If you want proper help, list as much detail as possible in your OP. Otherwise we can only guess at what you did/didn't do. And it makes a lot more sense to raise the seemingly obvious/easy hints, rather than assume (and have the "easy" stuff go overlooked). Its not unheard of that the "helpers" on here start going into more complicated or drastic fixes; when it turns out the solution was something very easy or basic.
As Occam's Razor says, the simplest solution is often the correct one.
