I was having strange issues with the Contacts app, so I did something stupid.
I disabled "Contacts Storage"
And now its gone from the apps, and I cannot even start the Contacts app.
Any idea how I can restore things ?
I am running 4.1.2
Thanks

If you are rooted, can't you just reflash ROM/gapps to get it back?

Hi!, i was going thrue my phone for clearing some memory and deleting cache, but i was accidentaly deleting a thing called "Contact memory" in Settings > Programs/apps > Manage apps, my phone is in swedish so it may differ when i write in english. So i was first on 3rd party apps and then i went on running apps and accidently deleted "contact memory" And now all my contacts are gone and i haven't done backup on kies, so have i lost my contacts forever? I've tried to go to contacts and settings and display to see if they are in my google accounts but no nothing there either, please help i had a LOT of contacts that are important
What you did was to delete all the information in the Contacts application ( = all your contacts). If you have a copy of them on the SIM card it's ok... if you don't then I'm sorry about your loss
Thanks for reply, oh i see , then yea i have lost them permanent. But thats such a shame to be able to delete ALL contacts by a single click without it asking you "Are you sure?" Etc
contact icon
Hi there,
I'm a new member here and I have a really bad problem, so I'm so sorry if this wasn't the right place to put my problem in.
My problem is:
using Titanium Backup, I deleted contact icon from my Samsung galaxy s phone. I don't care about the data, I have it somewhere else. I just need to get back my contact icon.
I restored Factory data but it didn't work. it seems like I lost it for ever.
another thing: because I restored factory data, I lost my rom, and my phone now looks ugly. I tried to install another rom but I couldn't. every time it says: installation aborted.
Any expert can help me?!
I'm on an Epic Touch 4G. However, I also had this issue with my prior Evo 4g.
If I do a Nandroid restore, gMail stops send emails. It continues to receive emails, but does not sync with gmails servers when I delete, archive or relabel an email. The only solution I have found is to delete the gMail data, and redo all my settings. Then everything works fine. By the way, restoring the settings from Titanium does not solve the problem. I've even tried delete the gmail data, then restoring the settings (and the entire App with settings), and I still get this behavior.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm having the same exact issue after nandroid. Won't let me remove the the gmail account be
cause it's my primary account. How do you delete gmail data?

thanks for that!
Unfortunately, I find this continues to happen. Even though I'm now on a Samsung Galaxy SIII. Something about nandroid restores breaks gmail. I have to clear data every time, and re do all gmail settings b/c if I restore them from Titanium Backup, the problem is not solved. So strange.
Same issue here.
It also happen for other applications.
What happen when you do a nandroid restore?

I just got this on my GSII with CM KK. I did an "uninstall updates" and it started working again and I didn't have to recreate anything. Then went to play store and updated Gmail.
Can't add any contacts, view, or sync any contacts because I am having a force close issue with (process com.motorola.contacts). Does anyone else have this problem or have any fixes? Running RebelROM v3.
Yeah, I had this issue too. You'll need to wipe cache in CWM and if that doesn't work then maybe wipe data. You can also still flash the contacts fix zip listed on the RebelROM page, that still works.

You probably froze Yahoo contacts/Yahoo authenticator. Can't free those unfortunately
I have the same problem w/my DX2. Where is this file(app)? I hard reset & lost it. I un-rooted & reset- still gone.
The application Contacts Storage (process com.motorola.contacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again is what "Sorry!" warning I get.
Will someone point me in the right direction? Thanks
Hi all
For some reason, despite being clearly ticked to auto sync, it only refreshes manually.
Any ideas? Some other apps like Words With Friends have also stopped syncing.
I haven't done anything and am running stock 30O update unrooted.
Cheers.

Sync works fine here!
Did you accidentally tik the Sync Icon on the QuickSettings screen and disabled syncing?
No. That was one of the first things I checked.
Have you tried removing the Google account from your phone and then readding it?
If not then clear cache to Google Play Services, remove your Google Account, reboot.
Add your Google Account and it should work.

see if this is checked Gmail app>Label settings> Notify for every message.
if it is unchecked, check it.
I haven't, but that wouldn't explain other apps not syncing either. It seems it is a general push notification issue.
They will arrive if I reboot my phone but after that, no joy

Good point.. as well as to add,
- Any hosts block (Adblock?)
- Blocking permissions to apps
- Greenify (Don't greenify every single app)
- Xposed modules?

Nope, none of that. Running stock with nothing like that enabled.
Oh okay well just give the clear cache, remove acct, reboot, add it again. See if it works.
OK. I removed all accounts including Google, and wiped cache and phones cache from recovery. Still seems like it's not working and have to so it manual.
Still no joy. Just checked GMail and had plenty of emails from last night. Reset phone then I guess.

It was already ticked. Oh well, factory reset.

I believe they wanted you to clear cached from Google Services in the app section and not in recovery. I have had similar issues like yours before and clearing Google services data and cache have helped
I did that too prior
My problem has been resolved by removing Gmail update, and now it's pushing again!
Hello all! I've got an odd issue. I tried to switch back to Android messages to use the new web chat. I made it my default sms and I'm not receiving messages / notifications at all. I only know this because I have Textra installed on and can see the messages I'm receiving. I've tried uninstalling Textra, restarting, clearing the cache, clearing storage, checking the notifications settings, and even uninstalling messages with a root uninstaller app. Any idea how to fix this?

Maybe try dalvick/cache wipe. Sounds like somthing got jacked but since I cant physically see the device, i have no idea what. Maybe open messenger under settings-apps-show system and wipe all data/do uninstalll reinstall and see if that fixes it?
