Could be battery calibration out or actual failure of the battery. Does the battery charge? Does it boot with power? If so install one of the battery monitor apps and see if you can check the health of the battery. Maybe it just needs a full recharge cycle?
Well thanks anyway just had to restart the device and it works ok now
seems like we are seeing quite a few battery issue threads popping up.
Maybe because the first buyers come to the point where it is time to change the battery.
I could easily use it the whole time on international 12 hour flights. Now I get to a maximum of 9 hours constant use. I think I have to invest some money soon...
Is there any working calibration app? I hate that my status bar shows 13% and then goes to 0% in like 2 minutes. The play store apps seem to be crap.

That's bollocks. I bought mine, like many dutch users, over two weeks before the tab was even launched worldwide, and haven't a single battery life problem.
However, 4.2 eats more battery (known.) and has wakelock issues (known). Which I have wisely chosen not to update to.

i am was using indy 4.3 for a long time and since last 3 days i am experiencing unusual shutdowns when the phone is idle and in use. i thought maybe the rom was acting weird so i updated to indy5.1 still the same happened. i even calibrated the battery but nothing worked. when i open the back panel the phone doesnt switch off. what do i do? what is wrong with my phone?
Hmmm... Is your battery alright? Try cleaning the terminals which come in contact with the battery(and the one on the battery also). Also if the battery fits loose, then try putting a piece of paper so that the battery sits pefectly.
Does the same thing happen when it is on AC supply?
Unusual shutdown??
I've had the S3 for 2 days and it constantly shuts down while I am using apps. I can't work out where the settings are for it (not the general settings) to disable phone automatic shutdown?? It will let me browse basic apps - facebook and other social networking sites - but the moment I try to comment or post, the phone switches itself off and takes forever to restart even after I take the battery out. I'm not game enough to root the phone yet because it won't let me keep my desired settings. Did I get a dud phone?? Presently at 65% battery charge and switches off for no reason that I can see :/ Starting to despise this phone!!

Anyone experiencing battery drain on ICS? I upgraded, rooted, and removed some of the bloatware to help. Thought it was fixed but my tab is dead again. Says the Android OS is taking up my juice. Was never a problem before. Could leave it on standby for days with HC. Now its dead in a day or less.

I initially saw similar behavior, but once I killed the cached processes once, and since have shut down to charge and started new, I haven't seen that behavior.
Do you have WiFi on? Could it be you have apps that are checking to be updated? I know in the past on my phone my Amazon Appstore has a habit of starting itself up and continually checking for updates for itself and for any apps I got from Amazon.
Tried it both ways...wifi on and off.
Try using CPU spy (free in market) or betterbatterystats (free- search for it here on XDA) to see what is eating up your battery exactly.

I noticed that I had a conflict between "Power Savings" settings and the "Display" settings. Putting them both at 1 minute resulted in an always on screen I had to disable the Power Savings to correct the problem.
I did have something odd happen yesterday that seems to have kept my screen on for 4 hours. When I got home and opened my case the tab was very warm, and shut off. And all but entirely out of power, before that it has used about 10 % in 17 hours of standby with about an hour of use, or so.
I think it is possible that an app that previously didn't keep the screen on is now for some reason keeping it on, and I didn't notice when I closed the leather cover.
No issues today, but I am going to try and see if I can find some release notes to tell me about the new download for ICS for the P6210, perhaps this is addressed?
Just to update I installed the betterbatterystats. I showed a couple of things that were keeping my tab awake. Once I fixed those I thought that would be it but it was still draining. I then installed juice defender and had it turn wifi off every time I turned the screen off. That did it. Was never like this before the update but at least its good to know I fixed it.
i suggest checking better battery stats for AudioOut_1 Partial Wakelock. its been draining my phone fast when i upgraded to ICS.
check it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629346
now my battery is working great.. i just left my tab for 10 hrs in the locker when i got the tab its still have 97% battery.
for me i just checked and changed my wifi sleep policy from never to when screen turns off and its fine now. :highfive:
I thought about this very issue; I decided to wait.

Did you download the ICS as opensource? Myself, I am deciding to wait for the OFFICIAL verson to be released.
I had the same problem. i even went back to HC to make sure
the issue is not there (it wasn't) and upgraded to ICS
again (full wipe all the time). No luck something keeps
my device unable to go to deep sleep.
Now i'm back at HC again

The version is OFFICIAL .
It's just available only for some countries.
i had the huge battery drain issue while in stock ICS..
the tablet simply refused point blank to go into deep sleep.. in HC it would but not in ICS.. i would take the tablet fully charged to work and not use it much there.. by the time i was travelling back it would be 60% drained in not using it througout the day...
recently flashed to aorths CM9 build and all my battery woes are gone.. now when i get back from work the battery is at 96%!!
battery drain during usage is the same but the CM9 build has awesome battery conservation stuffs for when you dont use it..
would suggest everyone who has these battery issues to move to CM9.. really helped for me.

Early results show Juice Defender is helping a lot with mine too. Thanks for the tip!
Next morning: Just the free version of Juice Defender using the default profile took me from 35% overnight drain yesterday down to 3% overnight drain today. That's not bad. It should be even better tomorrow because I've turned off all location services after seeing that BetterBatteryStats says Google location is the worst single offender at keeping wifi going overnight.

Could you tell me how you "killed cached processes" please?
I am having similar battery drain. I am in the process of completely charging battery after it drained 40% in sleep mode last night, wifi off in sleep mods, notifications off, sync off.
I have already done a reset to factory, tried draining battery, and recharged in off position.
Nothing is helping so far. I have installed better battery stats, and CPU spy this morning, and will have data tomorrow morning.
thanks for any help

I had the same exact problem ever since the stock ICS update. My Tab Plus is all stock, no mods at all. The battery would completely drain after one day, and I have very little on the Tab Plus. Nothing helped at all, so I finally bit and did a factory wipe. The battery drain stopped immediately, so I started changing the settings back to the way I like it.
Then, next day the battery went completely dead again! I back tracked and figured out exactly what it is which makes absolutely NO SENSE - turning off wifi in sleep was what was draining the battery! See my screen captures. Notice on the first screen shot, as soon as the wifi stays on the battery drop bar stayed almost flat.
I observed a similar behavior on my 100% stock AT&T GS3 phone also, turning wifi off during sleep causes more battery drain.
I'm getting "suspend backoff" under kernel wakelocks which is preventing my tab going to deep sleep when unused. Everytime I wakeup in the morning my tab is dead. The only solution I found was to turn off wifi if I'm not using it. Anyway fixing this?

Juice Defender. The free version of the app, using the default profile, should take care of this.

THAT worked!!!!! awesome thanks
I find that if I stop using my TF700 at night and just set it down and tap the power button to shut the screen off the device has a dead battery when I wake up in the morning. So it is draining 50% - 75% of the battery with the screen shut off and supposedly in 'sleep' mode in just 8 hours or so!! That's just brutal - especially considering ipads can sit in sleep mode for several days and still hold a charge, AND considering that the boot time for a TF700 is slower than my PC!!! (so I don't want to fully power down every time I stop using it)
I've done a couple searches for this but haven't found anything recent for this device. Any suggestions for how to fix this would be much appreciated.

That's definitely not normal - you have some process running that is eating your battery. Install some monitoring app like BetterBatteryStats to find out more.
Define 'recent'. I helped two people solve a similar issue less than two weeks ago.
I suggest you look a little better at these boards, as there are plenty battery-related threads.
In short:
Location services kill your battery. Its a bug.
A usb ethernet adapter previously set to remain on during sleep eats battery even with the adapter detached an the tab asleep.
Gps, wifi and such eat battery.
Mine has gone without charging for literally 3.5 weeks now.

True. Haven't been using it a lot recently (snow+tech = not a good mix...), mainly just to answer some emails, write some stuff, google a few things and read a couple of ebooks. But even then I never turn it off, just to sleep. It's still at 82% on the tab, and 71% on the dock.
Maybe I'm the ridiculously lucky one who got the only properly fuctional TF700 in the world (doubtful, i'm not that lucky.), or it really is something people do wrong.
Hello everyone, I'm having problems with one of my nexus 5.
One month ago I flashed Resurrection remix ROM with no problem and I used it for many weeks.
Something around 3-4 days ago I let it switch off to make a battery cycle and I didn't touch it until the next morning. When I put it on charge, and after waiting for 30 mins, I tried to turn it on with no success. I tried to connect it to my power bank, which has LEDs to verify that is charging, and I discovered that that wasn't happening.
So I took off the back cover and tried to check, moving pieces, if there was any hardware problem. After that the phone finally turned on and was able to charge but since than I have some serious problems:
-while in standby it rapes the battery, in 30 minutes consumed 11% of it with no apps on; with screen on instead it's the opposite, I watched kung fu panda 3 at 100% and at the end of the film (1h 20mins) it was at 86%
-when I go to sleep if I don't keep it attached to a power source in the morning I find it switched off, and when I turn it on I discover it has still around 20-30%
Sorry for the long post but i wanted to explain in more details I could the situation I have.
Does someone of you know what the heck is going on with my N5? What can I do to fix this thing?

Is your battery life when you use your phone your only problem, no other things you notice that aren't what they always have been? If not, probably your battery is dying. Replacing your battery will most likely fix your problems.
Everything works fine except the things that concern battery inputs or i/o of the phone. Is there a way to check if it's actually the battery the only problem?
I'd rather avoid the situation where i buy a new battery unit and find out the system is joking me someway.
I was wondering, is it possible that those problems are given by an accidental bad settings in Kernel Adiutor?

Well if you want to check it on the software side, you could take a backup of your current setup, store your important files and the backup on a PC and flash a factory image. Then you can check and test if you have the same problems on a clean setup. It could indeed be wrong kernel settings but to me it sounds like your battery is just dying. That's not weird if you take a look at the release date of this phone.
Been having really bad drain issues on standby so decided to experiment. I've possible cured my phone from the drain issue. It involves an 18 watt charger and the usb cable (obviously). First plug your phone and charge until it says full in battery app. Second switch off phone leaving it on charger, wait another 5 mins just to make sure the phone reads the battery as full.
Third, now press vol up and vol down plus power button together keeping hold of them until the phone reboots at least 4 times, wait for to shortest reboots and let go, power up and wait for battery to say full and then wipe the device health services app completely including the ambient light data.
Reboot again if you want to while your still plugged into charger and wait minimum 12 hours like a new battery should be charged
Hopefully you cured the idle drain, if not,try install the device health services beta app on apk mirror and wipe the app again, hopefully that should be fixed, if not then your issue is completely different to mine.
Also make sure that you don't have any sound connected apps that are jamming the on the sound in background. If you did it right you should notice a clean slate in the battery app with the amount of days the phone was built or preset.
Mine said last full charge 55 days ago.
Cannot be done without charger and cable.
Or you can just reset device health services without doing the button press, i just wanted to start a fresh.
Just an update, my phone is 38 hours in with 45% battery.Just idle with minimum use, a few phone calls and updating of apps, half hour screen on all activity. Now i would say this is miraculous considering the phone was draining 1% every few mins. Even a factory reset and ota didnt fix it. PLease be aware that im not providing a miraculous cure for everyones battery drain, and not responsible if it doesnt work for you, i think a few ppl will gain from it aswell as few ppl wont gain from it. LET me know your experience after trying.
From what i can gather device health services wasnt working as it should and was killing my battery.
This looks like witchcraft. What is rationale behind your spells?
BTW, if you reboot the phone 12 times, you might get 3x the battery life. Even better, then charge it for 48 hours to get 6x battery life. I think we're on to something, but I am not sure what it is..?

your funny, look it up. Theres a bug in device health services, causes the phone not to sleep properly, the other part of holding the buttons returns the phone back to factory preset calibration, hence hardware. You will see when holding the power buttons normally it takes 10 seconds to reboot, still holding the buttons it will cycle faster on the next reboot, i suggested 4 times to make sure its done. If try it without the charger and cable, it does nothing, wont even reboot.
The 12/24 hours i mentioned is to charge like you would a brandnew phone.
No one has to do it if they dont want to, im just sharing.
If i was conning ppl xda dev would of removed it or flagged it.
Im not pushing for extra batterylife, normal operation is what i was looking at.
Ive updated the device health services from apk mirror, now battery drain is back. That just proves my theory of the app bugged up. Have to reset the stats again and hope it fixes it, again.

ive had no look in using the playstore device health services, battery is back to draining 2% every few minutes, the latest version on apk mirror or the beta are the only ones that work properly, battery stats wont even populate on the main battery usage tab. just says unavailable. So, if anyone as got the issue where the stats dont show on main battery usage , download the beta or the latest device health service app, install it and reset the battery stats. Hopefully the stats will show and drain as gone. Ive had best results in the beta.
This the latest version, not reset stats yet, just wanted to show what stats weren't showing untill I update the app.
This what you get when battery stats are cleared
This is an example.
what does your battery app say for screen on and idle time on full battery?
This is the dumbest thread a long time. What the actual f**** you're talking about? Uninstall that crappy Cloud app that runs for 12hrs and draining you battery. Look at your own provided screens.

The cloud app as got nothing to do with what i'm doing, it doesn't drain my battery. The screen shots are examples. I could as easily say your post is the dumbest post i've seen in a long time, as you don't even know what i'm on about. 1% of my battery in 12 hours is not draining the battery. Easiest thing for you to do is just ignore this thread.

Its idle state, not use the phone state. The infos there for idle(not using the phone) state. There was only one app in app usage tab, carrier settings used 3%,if you turn on wifi the carrier settings doesn't use battery at all, total usage was screen, idle, carrier settings and playservices.
You can tell when device health services is stuck, the phone is always warm, never cold. Hoping android 10 as fixed it, but i doubt it.
Do you still have this issue? According to AccuBattery my phone drains about 5% per hour.

Not now, seems to have solved it. If you wish to try it, after you done the steps on android 10, open app usage tab and look on the graph to see if phones gone back to factory state, it will read something like 20 or 30 days ago last charge. Keep an eye on the population of the battery app and check if phones cold in standby.

Is this supposed to show before or after the 12 hours charge? Done all the steps. 4 reboots with the buttons pressed, then installed this beta on the link below and clear the data of the app, but the battery data looks normal to me.

Forget about it. Just show 43 days at the graphic. Will charge it for 8 hours for now and use the phone like always. Will post the results.
