I use fast reboot during the day to speed things up when they get slow, and reboot Scheduler at night to reboot while I'm asleep so that it's fresh in the morning.
Poweramp and voodoo sound are necessary to drive my headphones and car stereo.
Android Version: Speedster Rom Alpha 27
Kernel: Mazkrnl 0427noOCnoDS
Overclocked?: 1100mhz limited by no OC

Camera Apps: FullHD mod1
Email App: Gmsil
Important Android System Apps: Voodoo Sound, Titanium Backup
Important Work Apps:
Text Messages App: default CM7 messaging
Notes:
- I like minimal amount of apps
- Speedster rom is my own creation soon to be released
- I turn off syncing on most of my apps because I found they drain battery and don't work well on gb.
- FullHD mod is probably one of the best camera mods because I find it is snappier than market camera apps and uses the default g2x camera so it uses that tegra hardware acceleration well. And full HD recording is nice.

I've been using Fast Reboot, thanks, I see the difference!
Do you and @iLovPieNCake use Voodoo Sound free or the paid app?

Where is FullHD mod? Is this a camera app, or a patch? Can you post a link?
I use the free version but I just checked out the paid and I might buy it.
I grabbed this mod from the o2x forums and I've had no problem with it.

Voodoo free if you have kernel support. Voodoo paid is supposed to make it work even if you don't have it baked into the kernel, but it didn't work on stock CM kernel so I didn't bother.

I like the viper audio app better than voodoo to be honest. I deleted voodoo 10 minutes after installing, and yes i have kernel support for it with Trinity. Viper makes a huge difference on my phone's audio. I also downloaded the camera mod from o2x forums. Works great!
singh miui rom plus Trinity kernel at 1.1ghz with slight undervolt. super quick and rock solid stability

- I have the VM Heap size setting changed from 32m(stock) to 48m and performance has been MUCH MUCH smoother. Try it for yourself if it suits you!
-I use SD Maid about once every day-three and clean up with corpsefinder(not as useful past initial cleanup unless you install/remove a lot of apps) and systemcleaner(!) (all except Gallery thumbnails)
-My Backup root I just use for Call logs, SMS and MMS backup. I use Titanium Backup for all User apps only (filtered out system apps)
Other important apps: My Tracks (very cool!) Ulysse Speedometer, FuelLog, SwiFTP, KeePassDroid, Dropbox, BOX, Google Voice (LOVE IT!), Password Card.
PS thanks for the tips on DroidWall and Fast Reboot
Wow, this is a blast from the past seeing all of the old G2x threads. I kinda miss it, as it is not as overbearing and huge like the Nexus 4 community. This is awesome. Anyways my G2x configuration consists of: dead, cracked screen and in my drawer, sadly, but if i remember correctly, I had one of the most recent CM7 nightlies, and possibly a Faux kernel, and a basic gingerbread launcher. It will not turn on, it's been dead for 5 months. The end of a legend (my first smartphone (G2x)). Good luck to everyone that currently has a G2x!

If it's not on DroidWall's application list, then maybe that camera doesn't need network access.

Yeah I don't think cameras need network access either, like what Eengineer stated. However, if you just don't feel like having a camera app on your phone you could always freeze it with titanium backup or some other similar application. This way you could always get it back within just a few seconds if you want to use it again.

[Q] What to Expects with Gingerbread
Like many of you, I upgraded from the Samsung Vibrant to the G2X. One of the things I really miss with the Vibrant is the detail to colors in the address book and phone navigation menu's. There is a lot of talk about Gingervread on this phone and I was just wondering of someone can tell me what we can expect from this update? - Better Exchange Client? - Better Calendar Client ? - Better Contacts Client? - More options for adding different accounts? - Better performance? Thanks Max
It's mostly backend things and some slight UI modifications. The change from Froyo to Gingerbread was more noticeable on my GTab than it was on my phone. Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) supports the following features in addition to existing 2.2 features: New user interface design with new themes (Black themes save power) Extra Large Screen Size supported SIP Communication Supported (SIP Video and Audio Calling, In an operator point of view, this is feature will decrease their voice calling revenue where as user can call each other for lower rates or even free if they have good data connection) Supports for NFC (High Frequency High Speech Data Transfer in short range) Support for WebM/VP8 video playback, and AAC audio encoding New audio effects such as reverb, equalization, headphone virtualization, and bass boost Improved Copy and Paste functionality Redesigned Multi Touch Software Keyboard Audio, graphical, and input enhancements for game developers New sensors support (i.e gyroscope) Download manager for long running HTTP downloads Enhanced support for native code Improved power management and application control Support for multiple cameras Read more: http://www.differencebetween.com/di...yo-and-android-2-3-gingerbread/#ixzz1KvcuwxAa Click to expand... Click to collapse I recommend downloading Go Contacts as your contact/phone manager and, if you like Facebook Photos as your contacts, use SyncMyPix. At least thats been my favorite one so far, in large part because it's a knock off of the one on my HTC Incredible. I know everybody has their own preferences though. Alas it's Android, hop on the market and customize the thing how you like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2Ft6vzzRMM
Great Reply - Thank you so much I have installed the following free apps and they have made a very nice change to the phone: Angry Birds (all versions) can't live without them Business Calendar ( great calendar replacement) Amazon app Store (for those free paid apps) Go Contacts (great phone and contacts upgrade) handsent SMS ( Nice text messaging replacement) Ringdroid for customizing / making new ringtones Wallpapers ( nice wallpapers Zedge (nice rings and alerts) I also installed the SPB Shell - I thought it was expensive but its pretty darn cool and this phone has the horsepower to run it well.
SENSE 4.0
New things and improvements in Sense 4.0: - Landscape mode now also in home screen (with optimized buttons etc) - No on-screen buttons (as on Nexus) but will adopt the 3 buttons (prev. 4) - 3D Task manager - Better lockscreen, with better integrated notifications, to-do-lists, notes, contacts etc. - Updated Email client with threaded messages and improved layout (over all better email) Smart Sync technology which syncs your email based on your usage habits - Better Browser, with Read later and Watch later functions. Introducing a new Reader feature. Reader:feature in browser strips away ads and other useless web clutter Read/Watch Later: feature in browser saves content in a widget which can be accessed at a later time (even offline) - Guest mode, lets your friends only test some basic stuff (no phone, data, and special apps) - Better Camera - when it detects a face, it takes 5 pics and chooses the best one. (I guess a new version of Amaze cam?) ImageSense: auto focus is 0.2sec, shutter time of 0.7sec Dual Shutter Camera (video record and take photo at the same time!) - DropBox integrated (25 GB for 2 years for free!) - Beats Audio will be universal, meaning allowed in any 3rd part apps (Spotify, YouTube, Pandora, VPlayer, etc.) - SoundHound seems to be integrated in the music app! (see pic attached in 1st post) - SkyDrive integration (Microsofts cloud storage 25 GB free) - Scrollable wallpapers are back. Changing wallpaper. - Carousel and 3D effects are gone (to speed things up) - New sounds (notifications etc) Overall, loosing some of the bloated feel, and now being more grown up with improved speed etc.

Since the first release in early 2013 SCR Screen Recorder is frequently updated and new features are added regularly. Unique features: • SYSTEM AUDIO (requires root) - On most devices you can directly record in-game audio without quality loss caused by microphone recording speakers output. The "Internal + Mic" option allows to add a microphone commentary to the system audio recording. At the moment this feature is not available on Android 4.2 but it'll be added soon. • FACE CAM - Share your emotions by adding a front-facing camera to your video. You can move the camera overlay around so that it doesn't obstruct important controls. • NO ADS - Unlike other "free" screen recorders SCR never display any ads. Development of all my apps is supported only by donations. • SETTINGS - No mater if you prefer to select simple presets or manually tweak every setting we've got you covered. SCR supports many customizations and provides performance and stability stats. • ALPHA FEATURES - Let us know what's important to you in this thread or by joining SCR Alpha Testing Google+ community at http://goo.gl/PGYZ8r SCR Screen Recorder uses various hacks and unofficial APIs which may not work on some devices and ROMs. If you encounter any issues try experimenting with different settings. In case that doesn't help select "Send bug report" from SCR Settings menu or ask for help in this thread. Note that some devices simply don't support certain encoding options so it doesn't make sense to complain that GPU+ image transformation doesn't work if GPU transformation works fine. Google Play ban and "Dangerous app" warning SCR Pro got recently banned on Google Play and my developer account got terminated. This is probably caused by the recent Google Play raid on apps switching SELinux to permissive mode. Unfortunately they haven't sent me the warning so I haven't got a chance to remove this feature. See SELinux section below for more details. Free SCR Pro for everyone! I don't want to charge anyone twice for the same app and no publishing method allows for migration of thousands users who already paid for the app, so I decided to release SCR Pro for free! You can grab the APK below and enjoy all the features of the latest release of SCR Pro on Google Play. No time limits, watermarks etc. Simply full-featured best Android screen recorder for free! Please consider donating to me, especially if you haven't purchased SCR Pro before, so that I continue development of this app. SCR Screen Recorder Pro v1.0.5 SCR 5+ Pro v0.1.3 (no root, NO INTERNAL AUDIO, requires Lollipop) In case you don't know how much to donate, the previous price of this app was $5 SELinux details SCR Root switches SELinux to Permissive mode when it's running and restores it to the initial value after it's turned off. On most KK+ devices some SCR features won't work without disabling SELinux. Mainly the internal audio recording. If you'd prefer to try using SCR in SELinux enforcing mode let me know (state your Android version and why you need SELinux enabled during recording) and I may make this and option in SCR Settings. FAQ I’m getting error message when I start recording, what should I do? Try changing the resolution or switching between CPU/GPU image transformation mode. Some devices don’t support all settings combinations. If you can’t get any settings to work please tap “Report” button on error dialog and send a full report email including system log. The recording works fine except the strange colours Select “Inverted color fix” in SCR Settings. Video contains some random colors instead of my screen This is caused by device video encoder crash. It usually can be fixed by changing Resolution. The video is sideways, how do I rotate it? Just like default Android Camera app SCR checks the screen orientation when the recording is started and adds orientation metadata to the video file. Some video players (e.g. VLC) ignore orientation metadata and always display video horizontally. YouTube and default android video player can detect orientation metadata correctly and play vertical videos. If you want a video to use vertical frames instead of rotation metadata select "Show advanced" in SCR Settings menu and then select "Vertical frames". Note that hardware video encoders and video players on many devices don't support vertical frames especially on high resolutions. My phone gets really laggy when I start recording Phones hardware is not designed to record HD video and play 3D games at the same time so I have to push the limits. There is always going to be some slowdown. You can reduce a lag by reducing resolution and frame rate. Lower frame rate and lower resolution means that your phone needs less power for video encoding and has more spare resources to run other apps and games. If you’r running Android 4.3 try GPU+ image transformation mode which is much faster on some devices. Smallprint This app collects anonymous usage statistics to help track bugs and analyze devices compatibility. This software uses unmodified code of FFmpeg 1.2 licensed under the LGPL.

Good thing you made this thread finally! I have not had any problems after some updates on my samsung galaxy tab 2 with cm 10.2 And gpu+ is faster for me that normal gpu rendering but cpu rendering is fastest, i don't know why. I don't know why other screen recorders are so slow compared to this but i am glad i found this some months ago. :good: ---------- Post added at 04:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:45 PM ---------- Also there will be recording app called everplay for android but i don't know when because its gonna take some time to make it possible record without root but its for ios already. When it will be released for android i should record sound too like on ios, so you could get code from them to record sound. But even mic make my tab lag more.
Love it! Best functioning, and looking, screen recorder out there. Still I am dieing for the audio recording feature, I know its not easy or even possible but it is the single and only feature this app is missing from perfection.:good:

Click to collapse I'm not too familiar with the new features in Android 4.3. Why can GPU image transformation be faster with 4.3? I looked on the official page, but i'm still not sure. The official 4.3 news page says something like this: Android 4.3 builds on the performance improvements already included in Jelly Bean — vsync timing, triple buffering, reduced touch latency, CPU input boost, and hardware-accelerated 2D rendering — and adds new optimizations that make Android even faster. For a graphics performance boost, the hardware-accelerated 2D renderer now optimizes the stream of drawing commands, transforming it into a more efficient GPU format by rearranging and merging draw operations. For multithreaded processing, the renderer can also now use multithreading across multiple CPU cores to perform certain tasks. Click to expand... Click to collapse Is the multithreaded processing the additional benefit of using GPU image transformations over using the CPU? P.S.: btw. I like the app, keep up the good work!
bit2 said: I'm not too familiar with the new features in Android 4.3. Why can GPU image transformation be faster with 4.3? Is the multithreaded processing the additional benefit of using GPU image transformations over using the CPU? Click to expand... Click to collapse It's not exactly about multithreading. GPU and GPU+ image transformation modes use OpenGL ES 2.0 to process the screen content (scale/rotate/change color format) in contrast to CPU mode which simply copies different color values from one memory buffer to another. The difference between GPU and GPU+ modes is quite subtlr. GPU+ takes advantege of a new internal API introduced in Android 4.3 which allows to eliminate some inefficient OpenGL operations. This change is not advertised in release notes as it's quite a minor change in an internal API. If every such change was included in the release notes it would quickly grow to a size of a novel My hunch is that this changes are being added to allow some new features of Chromecast in the future... but this is just a speculation.

I would agree with another poster, if its ever possible to just record audio output people would make you a god lol. That and using two programs that use the mic at the same time . i should have known you would be on this site haha. Also, it seems I get really inconsistent file sizes with only the frame rate setting, like one file is 12.2 mb but is 8 minutes long (vlc says 8.548 fps) and another one is over 800 mb and is 11 minutes long, but has 75 fps from what vlc says. Strange i think

At 8fps encoder needs to store 8 screenshots a second, at 75fps 75 screenshots needs to be encoded. So 10 times more screenshots requires around 10 times more storage space.

[SHARE] Stock Google Media apps of JB+
First of all, its completely NOT my work, its just a share and you should know what it means.... The Download comes with 3 applications (i) Camera - You know its stock android's camera, great UI, smoother focus, better job without lag. You can also use photosphere feature. The only problem is you can't add those Sepia, B&W like Samsung's inbuilt, but I would personally suggest stock camera cuz you know you only seldom use those features. (ii) Gallery - You dont need ad-filled KK Gallery from playstore or use the sluggish Samsung Gallery, its UI and animations are awesome! SuperSuggest!! (iii) Video Player - The vdo player is just like (or worse) than the Samsung's stock, if you ever used MX Player, you will hate this. HOW TO INSTALL There's only a single file, just install is as normal apk and you're good to go! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340858 Please Dont forget to thanks the original poster. Screen Recorder
Hello, I'm using official rom and would like to know if there is any chance to get screen recorder from custom roms for example havocos. I would like to click the quick tile to start recording and stop with red dot or notification. There is a lot of screen recorders which doesn't have quick tile or using weird method which refreshes app (I don't know how to call this, it just reopens app). So here is my question, can I somehow install recorder from havoc and add quick start recording to tiles? P. S. I'm on rooted device with magisk.
mobizen does something similar you might want to try that out
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kimcy929.screenrecorder its the best app. if the link is not working, search in google play "screen recorder - no ads" its the best app ever. it doesnt use too much of ram memory, so it gives you the best performance while gaming or something else when recording the screen. btw, its smooth and gives to you the option to record on 120fps, which is accually insanely smooth
Hello, is this app available on iOS, please ?
